IWeb to 123-Reg publishing issue

I have recently registered a new domain name with 123-Reg. Have changed the settings with them to web forwarding and with 'web.me.com' as the destination (I believe this is what I need) and changed Mobile Me settings to reference my new domain name 'www.aixmusic.co.uk'. 123-Reg seems to be pointing OK to web.me.com but not to my site.
This all seemed to work previously with my old registrar but not now. What am I doing wrong?

It has been over 48 hours since I made the changes.
Also, 123 asks for my favicon URL - how do I find this pls?

This Apple doc describes CNAME:

  • IWeb and 123-reg personal domain difficulties

I have published before using iWeb but have now recently bought a domain name with 123-reg. I have changed my CNAME with 123-reg but cannot publish my website using iWeb. It just says:
Publish Error - There was an error updating MobileMe.
What am I doing wrong? Is it massively obvious? I've waited more than 48 hours.

    Try the following:
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Please help! iweb and 123-reg.co.uk

    Hi,
I have read the various postings and still have no idea what I am doing.
I have gone to my my DNS settings and what I have is:
    @ A 194.154.164.82
www CNAME web.mac.com. (I can't seem to lose the dot on the end)
    www CNAME 194.154.164.82
    mx0.123-reg.co.uk. Priority 10
    mx1.123-reg.co.uk Priority 20
I have turned web forwarding off but this hust sends my domain to a holding page care of 123-reg.co.uk Should I turn web forwarding on - if so what URL do I ask it to forward to?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Kind regards
    Matthewmacduff

    Hi there,
I hope you've sorted your problem out. I'm also with 123.reg and had similar problems which have mostly been resolved. If your still struggling. Log in to 123reg.co.uk and go to your control panel. Click on web fowarding and select either framed or non framed forwarding. Add your site to the add url eg http://web.mac.com/yourname. Add title to be displayed in browser (presumably you've registered/bought a name with 123reg)...thats it
My problem with 123reg's system is that it, to me, isn't particularly user friendly. My web forwarding works great but the browser bar only ever shows smandrews.com and not smandrews.com/home/html...anybody know why?

  • Publishing iweb site using 123 reg hosting

I have uploaded the folder via ftp, but when I go to the website there is basically nothing there apart from a box.
Has anyone else had problems using a hosting service other than .mac??
    website is http://www.freshfaux.co.uk
    cheers

I had exactly the same problem with http://www.forkliftagency.co.uk
For some reason 123-reg hosting does not like you uploading folders all in one go. I had to create the folder in the control panel, and then drop the files into each folder. Same for deleting; 123 will not let you delete a folder with contents.
You need to delete the contents first, and then delete the folder.!

  • 123-reg / Webfusion BT Network Issue

Could BT please sort this out, asap, please ... still a problem at 19:29 on 06 June 2011.

    Last Updated: 06 June 2011, 15:26
UPDATE :: Our system engineers are continuing to look into this issue for a full resolution and are awaiting further information from BT. Initial investigations have indicated that this is affecting BT ADSL customers. Further updates will be posted on this page when advised.
Customers with BT as their ISP are currently facing intermittent issues with connection to their services with 123-reg/Webfusion. This is causing slowness in the loading of customer`s website and sometimes downloading emails from the server. Our network engineers have identified this issue is related to BT network. They are experiencing packet loss from their end in the data sent to our networks. Customers experiencing this are advised to report this issue to BT as soon as possible.

    Hi,
We've been having the same problems since around Wednesday afternoon (1st June) last week. Started to panic slightly when emails seemed to be getting stuck coming through our 123-reg pop3 server and our own website was taking forever to load (which are both run by 123-reg and relays have all been setup).
Spoke to BT straight away to let them know, only to be told there was nothing wrong from BT's end and to check our SMTP authentication settings which I knew were correct, and to restart the BT fibre modem.
Restarted the modem which seemed to let the emails come through and our website was appearing much quicker, but only for around 30 minutes then the same problems started to come back. Did a quick check on the mirapoint IP checker (mirapoint being the guys that protect BT from any spammers and I'm sure protecting from other nasty things too) and our IP address was apparently at high risk of being a spammer! Told all of this to BT who then replied that our server must have virus somewhere either on our server or our workstations..... We have no viruses and are not spamming!! Final option was to restart the BT modem to get a new IP. After restarting the router many times (around 10!!) until an IP address was finally given with a 'no risk' reputation, everything seems to be running ok.
Finally saw 123-reg's message on their service status page about BT's network not playing with 123-reg's server nicely and must admit it was quite a relief to think there possibly wasnt anything wrong from my setup at all. Phoned up BT and told them, they got 123-reg's status message up on their screens, spoke to one of their technical guys and they said thanks for letting them know and will look into it immediately and will let me know the outcome.
This was last Thursday 2nd June and I have yet to hear back from them. I'm not even touching the BT modem for now as this current IP address seems to be ok.... for now. I wonder if BT are dishing out IP addresses that possibly have bad reputations as listed by mirapoint, maybe mirapoint are protecting BT a little too much?? Whatever it is anyway, I hope it is sorted out quickly as we can't afford not to have this problem again.

  • Mail can't send email from 123-reg accounts

    Hi all,
I've got an issue with Mac Mail can’t send email from 123-reg accounts.
I know there is a lot of articles on simular matters and some I have tried out with no luck, others are just speaking a whole other language.
Any help would be greatly recived, here's my situation below:
    Running a iMac 2.8GHz Intel Core i5 on OS X 10.8.3
I’m using 3 accounts on Macs Mail client, one is my iCloud account that is working fine and the other two are my 123-reg accounts that I use for business purposes. I’ve been working like this for a couple of years now and about 6 months ago I upgrade my operating system from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
2 or 3 months ago I randomly got a problem where I was unable to send any emails from my 123-reg account, I could only receive emails. I checked my settings and they were all correct and unchanged so I attempted to delete them and recreate the account but with no such luck.
I then decided to check if it was a problem at 123-regs end and attempted to log into web mail. This worked and was able to both send and receive emails so eliminated that possibility.
I also have these accounts set up on my iPhone, so checked if there was any issues and everything was working fine. I then checked my iphone details and made sure the same was on my desktop and still no such luck.
I’ve tried out some of the articles I’ve found on here (the ones written in plain English) still no results. I’m not very IT illiterate and just wondered if anyone else has got any ideas, whether there is something specific with 123-reg accounts and Mac Mail?
    Many thanks.

    Thanks
I just had another hunt around looking at posts and discovered that it was because I recently changed to BT Infinity and they had a block on.
I didn't even think to question the ISP.

Hello. Since my last firefox update, I have been unable to type an email - the box within which one would usually type does not appear when I press 'reply' to a received email, or press 'compose'. The email provider is '123-reg.co.uk. I have been using both firefox and the provider ['webfusion Ltd/webmail123] successfully for well over a year. The provider says it is a browser problem. I can still add an attachment to the email header, which successfully can be sent, but the recipient gets my standard email 'signature' with font messages and the attachment. Can anyone help? My email addresses are [email protected] [this is the one with the issue] and [email protected] in English

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • IWeb 1.1 Image Publishing Errors

When I try to publish my site, I encounter random publishing errors relating to images on my site.
Most of the time, they are images that I've never even heard of (and don't show up under a spotlight search either!). I'm assuming that they're images programed into the chosen template, but why would Apple put images into the templates that create errors? This would be the second time that I've uploaded my page to .mac with v1.1 and I had no problems the first time. All I changed was I added a few more blogs and some pictures.

    Thank you for contacting Apple.
Apple is investigating an issue that can cause some to receive one of the the following alerts when using iWeb 1.1 to publish to their .Mac website:
    - Unable to read your iDisk quota
    - An error occurred while publishing file "[filename]".
    - .Mac account credentials validation failed for account "[member name]"
We apologize for any inconvenience, and appreciate your patience as we investigate. We will email you again once we have more information regarding this.
    Sincerely,
    The .Mac Support Team

  • IWeb 08 won't publish my site when "private" - "Publish Error"

I have created two sites in iWeb. The first is for general viewing, the second (still under construction) is to be restricted by "Make my published site private" username and password. I can publish both sites as "open sites" without problem, but when I try to publish after I check the privacy box for Site 2, I get a "Publish Error" during the publishing process. Any thoughts appreciated.

I changed my header in iweb and when I published the site the font had shrunk and it displayed incorrectly. It was only on my home page, not on others. I have iweb 3.0.4. Help!?!?

Just in-case anyone els runs into this, I figured it out... I was working from my hotel and apperantly the fire wall was not allowing anything to uplaod, but I wasn't getting an error message from iweb, it would say that everything was published succesfully even though it wasn't. Once I went home and used my connection eveything worked fine.

  • Can someone help explain why my iWeb website doesn't publish correctly...

I'm a professor and I'm trying to build a professional website--nothing fancy, six or seven pages and perhaps a blog. The site I have built on iWeb looks wonderful in iWeb, but once I publish the site (GoDaddy is hosting it), various text boxes, fonts, and background shapes get randomly distorted. Moreover, the site has different errors when viewed on my iPad, when viewed on my Macbook in Safari, and when viewed on Macbook in Mozilla. From what I've been gathering, web developers don't like iWeb. I'm not a computer expert, so I like the usability of iWeb (I'm not using any of their prefab templates--that might be the problem). I just want the site that I've built in the program (which looks good) to actually publish correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if it is just pointing to other software...
    Thanks!

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?   Also if you're considering some serious blogging I suggest you create your blog on one of the established blogging sites like Posterous, WordPress or Blogger. This will allow you to manage your blog from any computer anywhere and even from some mobile devices.  With an iWeb blog you must have a Mac and the domain.sites2 file used to create the site.
Then you can embed that blog into one of your iWeb pages as shown on this demo page: Embed a Site Within an iWeb Page
