Iweb to Podcast

I have created iweb page with no difficulty I am trying to create Podcast everything seems to work until itunes opens and I get "The feed has No Episodes"
Can anyone suggest a work round please

I'm having the same problem, except I'm submitting through iTunes. I copied and pasted. Tried both feed:// and http:// (I can't find in the instructions which is right.) Here is our podcast, in case anyone wants to check it:

Thanks, much. This discussion group is where all my Mac problems seem to be solved. Not that the Genius Bar isn't good, too .

  • IWeb 08 Podcast/RSS problems

Yup, iWeb has shot my podcast...
I will post discoveries here as I learn them. Will be grateful for any help, of course!!!
Still coming to grips with new file names/locations. First thing is iWeb seems to be dealing with spaces differently now. Previously it did the old %20 thing in my podcast - Popology Podcast read Popology%20Podcast. Now, it's replaced that with an underscore - Popology_Podcast. However, it doesn't seem to have occured to the code monkeys to tell whatever generates the rss.xml file that! A manual edit of the rss.xml file doesn't help either.
I'm using feedburner, so I've changed it there, and it's starting to kick into gear, though it isn't seeing the podcast images...
More to come as I discover it.
Again - please - any advice most appreciated - and if I've gotten anything wrong so far, please put me straight! I'm just a Joe-Bloggs, not a super-web-guy...

My podcast's address, as seen in iTunes music store is:
    http://rss.mac.com/popology/iWeb/Popology/Popology%20Podcast/rss.xml
But according to iWeb's new way of dealing with spaces, this should now have an underscore instead of a %20.
    http://rss.mac.com/popology/iWeb/Popology/Popology_Podcast/rss.xml
I've tried avoiding the problem by entering my feedburner address into the rss.xml file...
    <itunes:new-feed-url>http://feeds.feedburner.com/popology</itunes:new-feed-url>
But that didn't work. I've pinged my podcast, and when I search for it in the music store, delete and resubscribe, it still doesn't pick up that it should go to the feedburner feed.
QUESTION: Am I editing the wrong file - rss.xml - in my podcast directory? This seems to be a new location - till I upgraded, the RSS files were in a seperate folder (up a few levels on my idisk) altogether, but there's nothing there now...?
I'm considering trying to remove the space in the original iWeb design on my comp and reuploading... 128k upstream... hmm - that will take a while...

  • ILife 08 iWeb 08  - Podcast Not Working  HELP!

I may not have explained myself in my last post, so I'll try again. o.k. Who has had a problem with the new 08 stuff? I am not a computer genius and do my podcast in garageband, share it with iWeb, and publish with .mac. I am not good at code and have gone this route becasue it was being done for me. Since changing to 08, my podcast stopped working. I spoke to the "Genius" at the Apple store and he helped my change my website by removing the "iWeb" from the forwarded address. Now my website works. However, he had no clue on how to change this in iTunes. How can I get iWeb 08 and iTunes to work together to play my podcasts again? Any help would be apppreciated. My URL from the iTunes store is: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=264963988

    Godaddy installed the
m4a MIME type on my hosting acount
Very useful info that some servers need this to be done! It would be nice to know exactly how they did it, but I suspect it was an addition to the .htaccess file along the lines of
    AddType audio/x-m4a m4a
    AddType audio/x-m4b m4b
If you can see the .htaccess or .config file in your space I would be interested to know if it says something like this.

  • IWeb video Podcast won't play music on PC and crash iTunes.

I used iMovie to make a picture slideshow and added a mp3 file I got from a CD I own. I shared the slideshow to iWeb as a podcast with iLife06 and it built a page for it on my .Mac account web page. I published it and it went to the server flawlessly. I subscribed to the podcast on my Mac computer and it came into my playlist and played great. The problem came when I went to the website on my IBM PC. I at one time used it to hold the music for my iPod. I subscribed to the podcast, downloaded the slideshow to iTunes, and when I tried to play it on the PC I got a weird noise that would not stop. I had to control Alt Del to get it to stop. I am running the latest version of iTunes on both computers.

ensure that you are navigating to the video
correctly. The correct path to a video podcast on a
    5th gen ipod is /videos/video podcasts/*insert
podcast here*. I assume that you are attempting to
    access the podcasts via /music/podcasts/*insert
podcast here*. If you are accessing the podcasts
through the music menu, the podcast will show up, but
only the audio will play. If you access it through
the video menu, both the audio and the video should
    work.

  • IWEB publishing PODCAST.. There's a problem

    There's a problem with iWEB
    1) I made my podcasts in iWEB
    2) I published them to web.me.com
    3) It worked very fine. I can see them all in my page.
    4) BUT
    5) I made other pages in iWEB ex) BLOG
    6) I published them (I did not edited or touched podcast pages)
    7) It worked fine.
    8) BUT when I click my podcast, I can see just texts without podcast content.
I can't see podcast movie clips
    9) So, I tried to publish whole pages. Then I can see my podcast.
    10) That's my problem.
    11) When I publish my iWEB pages to my site,
    12) I should include podcast pages to publish ( even though I didn't touched those pages.)
    13) Publish Whole Sites / or / Include podcast pages in Publishing ( It's bothering me everytime
I can't figure out this problem.
Is there someone can solve this problem?

try duplicating the podcast page - or cut and create a new page - and see if that remedies the situation

  • All posts turned blue in the Iweb's podcast page

Suddenly, all podcast posts in my iWeb podcast and archive pages (in the actual iWeb program, not on the version already uploaded and online) have turned blue: I can only read the headline in a sort of electric blue, while the content has disappeared. All posts are still there, so if I go to each individual entry it's there and readable, but both the podcast and archive seem corrupted.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this.
    Thank you!

  • IWeb: MP3 podcasts downloading as .MOV files

I recently added new podcasts to my website, and for some reason, the new podcasts are downloading as an MOV file instead of MP3, which is how they were uploaded. Previous podcasts are still downloading properly.
I even made sure to use the "Duplicate" function, so I used the exact same code from the previously created podcast entries. Any thoughts? Is this a problem created by the MobileMe migration?

That has been a problem for quite a while now. The same goes for mp3 audio files. This thread discusses it: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7448436&#7448436.

  • PDF podcasts via iWeb not in itunes

    Help!
I have looked through the forums and suspect this is either a bug or is not a feature of iWeb, but....
Can anyone tell me how to have the .pdf's I place in iWeb to podcast, actually show up in in iTunes????
(My video's show up just fine, so I must be doing something right)

  • Uploading .mp3 files vs. uploading .band files for Podcast on iWeb

I teach high school and have my students creating audio files for podcast on my iWeb site. Most of the students give me their files in .band format, but some give them to me in .mp3 format.
    1) Can I upload the .mp3 file for podcasting to iWeb without turning it into a .band file (which I have been doing).
    2) When I drag the .mp3 file into the GarageBand program and then upload it to iWeb, the autopage looks different (no date, no place to write a little blurb, etc.) Is there any way to get them to look the same when using the Share>send to iWeb feature.
    3) I also receive frequent corrupted files (8-bit not supported with an abort button). I have never personally receive this message on files that I have created, but I can't figure out what my students are doing incorrectly--anyone know?
    Thanks for any possible help.

I am putting a link to what I am talking about--maybe that would help?

  • Podcasting in iWeb BIG CHANGE! Be careful

I have just finished my site conversion and realise that the .mac is no restructured. It used to put the site into Web/Sites/iWeb/your%20site%20name etc
But now it is Web/Sites/yoursitename and this is a completely different address so iTunes does not fetch your podcasts anymore from the old addy because it isnt there! So you have to re submit your podcasts to iTunes. Even the RSS file are in a different location and the media files are different names in a media folder. Have a look. Or is it just mine?

I fixed this by doing the following:
    1) Recreate the folder on your iDisk where the OLD xml file would have been. For me this meant creating the folder Web/RSS/iWeb/MYWEB_SITENAME/Podcast because 'Podcast' is the name of the page where my podcast is listed.
    2) Copy and paste the new rss.xml file from the new directory in which it sits onto your Mac.
    3) Edit rss.xml to add a new tag under where the current description tag sits. This new line should read: <itunes:new-feed-url>http://URLOF_YOURNEWFEED</itunes:new-feed-url>
    4) Upload this new rss.xml into your recreated folder from step 1.
    5) I'm told that after a few days you should elete this file and folder.
What this does is redirect iTunes to the new feed so that your podcast directory listing just makes the transition. Ideally we would create a proper 302 redirect but i can't see how to do it with iWeb. This however will get to all your iTunes subscribers at least... I think

  • Need help getting my podcast to itunes.

Ok, I have my podcast on my .mac website and if users click subscribe it will download it to their itunes. The problem I'm having is everytime I try to add it to itunes music store it says "Error parsing feed: Invalid XML" now I'm new to all this and I'm really not sure what I need to do to fix the XML to get it to work. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

  • Is there a way to use a different slideshow on all iWeb Photo pages?

I am getting real tired of the iWeb slideshow. Hard to adjust the timing, scales automatically even when you don't want it to, etc...
I did some searching on this site and a few people, such as Old Toad are mentioning SimpleViewer or Jalbum. But it sounds like it has to be setup individually for each page by modifying the html file in idisk/resources, etc...
While that would be fine for just a few pages,I have a photo blog with about 20 pages that are constantly been updated and more are added each week. I would like to be able to automatically change the default iWeb slide show to something better like Jalbum. Is there a way to do that by simply adding an html snippet on each page in iWeb directly? And if so, what would that code be for the Bananalbum as shown on OT's demo page?
    Thank you very much indeed.

if you use iweb blog/podcast/photos and album templates then you need to know that they are rendered by javascript/AJAX... so you can use javascript/AJAX to alter them, slideshow and what not.
Here are some of my examples:

they were built in iweb with my widgets, no pre-processing, no post editing, no flash.

  • Preview of videos in Podcast Archive.

    Hi all,
I'm using iWeb to publish a site with a bunch of home videos using iWeb's Podcast template. I've got 17 home videos on the main 'Podcast' page. It's great but for most of my home videos the first frame is black because they open up with a title page. So, on the podcast page in iWeb, all the pictures that preview and link to the videos are black.
In iDVD and iPhoto you can 'skim' through the video and pick the frame that you want to represent the file. I'm wondering if you can do this in the Podcast page in iWeb. Thanks!

I'm fairly sure the Inspector's QuickTime +"filmposter slider"+ (Poster Frame slider) was introduced in +iWeb 2+ in +iLife '08+ ~ if so, it's another reason to upgrade. The +Poster Frame+ slider is shown being used in this video tutorial:

  • Can I keep more than just 5 entries in the podcast page?

I noticed that any post in iWeb's podcast page that gets moved to the archive is no longer indexed by iTunes or other aggregators. I was wondering if there is a way to keep more than just 5 entries in the podcast page so that they continue to remain pasrt of the RSS feed and stay indexed on the aggregator.
    Thank you for your help!

In a similar problem, does subscribing to a podcast with only one or two current episodes listed, allow all the archived episodes to be accessed or visible in the iTunes Store as well?
I don't really see the purpose of the Archive if it isn't ultimately used for cataloguing available iTunes downloads, and I am thus forced to load all blog entries on the main page.
Or am I doing something horribly wrong?
