Iweb transfer to another mac?

I've read the current posts but am still having difficulties. I have published the site from iWeb from my mac laptop but want to work on it from my imac where most of my photos are. Both computers are using snow leopard and ilife 09.  I went to the user/library/application support/iweb/domain.site and tried to copy the domain.site to my thumb drive but I get an error message. The file is on my thumbdrive but muted. If I try to paste it to iweb/domain.site on imac it doesn't work. Any ideas on why I can't copy to thumbdrive without error and where to copy it on imac when I do get it copied.
thanks,

You can connect both machines via ethernet and turn on file sharing to transfer the Domain.sites2 file. Or, compress it from the Finder File menu and drag it onto an email etc, etc. Its also a good idea to keep an up to date copy on your server so that you can download it from anywhere.
Once transferred, drag the Domain.sites2 into Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb and double cilick it to test...

Is it possible to move my iweb site from one mac to another? If so how do I do it?

    Lucy,
iWebSites is a beta application capable of merging separate Domain files. It gets good reviews in this forum.
You will not overwrite one Domain file with another unless you intentionally replace a Domain file with another, just like any like-named file. Keep your Domain files in their own folders, folders that are named for the sites the respective Domain files contain. Open the Domain file/Site of your choice by first opening it's folder and then double-clicking on the Domain file inside.

  • Getting photos back onto iPhone from iPhoto to transfer to another Mac

    Hi,
I've transferred some recent photos and videos from my iPhone to iPhoto. However, my wife needs them too on her Mac - and there's loads.
Is there a way where I can get them back onto my iPhone so that iPhoto will pick them up on her Mac? Just using iTunes to sync them doesn't show up any another Mac.
    Thx,
    Mont

s there a way where I can get them back onto my iPhone so that iPhoto will pick them up on her Mac?
No, unless they are still in your camera roll. If not, you will have to use a thumb drive or some other means to transfer them to your wife's computer.

My hard drive broke and now I have a new one installed. I would like to download/manage my iweb-mobileme site from this new hard drive. How can I sync the new disc with my mobileme?

You can't sync your published iWeb site from MobileMe back to a new disk. Only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb.
You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.

  • How to transfer iWeb site to another Mac in Lion

Does anyone know how I can move my iWeb site from my Macbook Pro to my iMac.  I've transfered the files, but iWeb doesn't see the data.  I've copied the data to the iWeb folder in my User Library thinking that would help as I've read others have done in Snow Leopard.  This doesn't seem to work in Lion.  thanks for the help.  I'm using iLife 11

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion for the first time or to switch between multiple domain files  Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the applicaiton, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • I need help modifying my iWeb site from another Mac than the one it was designed on:

I did exactly as directed in the Help file "to Modify your site from another computer", but when I click on the Domain file it launches iWeb to start a new website without anything from the site I created. The Macs are a mirror image of each other with the same iWeb version 3.0.4. I am transitioning from my MacBook to my new iMac, so the laptop files were all transferred to the iMac by the Apple Store when I bought it. The only difference is that the laptop is OS 10.6.8, and the new iMac is OS 10.7.5. After the transfer of all the files at the store, I proceeded to make the website on the laptop, but now need to work on the website from my iMac...but I need help getting the file to work on the iMac.
    PLEASE HELP!
    Thanks!

The trick that solved it for me was the last note about how to make the hidden folder appear (due to Lion OS 10.75):
Note for OS X Lion users :
To show the hidden Library folder in the Home Directory (Cmd-Shift-H) hold the Option (=Alt) key when choosing theGo menu in the Finder.
    Thanks!

  • Color picker transfer to another mac

Somehow, I've lost most of the colors (in the little squares) in the Color Picker on my MacBook Pro.
I recall reading an articl a couple of years ago on how to copy the color picker (with all the colors I've created) from one Mac to another, but I can't find the article and I don't rcall how to make the move.
Does anyone know how to do this...and what are the details?
    Thanks

An iPhone can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on any supported computer, but iTunes content can be transferred to an iPhone from one computer at a time only, and the same for photos transferred to an iPhone. When transferring iTunes content and/or photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
You can transfer your iTunes library from one computer to another - the entire iTunes named folder located in your Music folder.

  • IWeb transfer to another domain name?

I recently purchased a .com name..........from another server.
I would like to transfer my iWeb page to this server but am really getting confused.  Is there a simple tutorial or way to do this?  I have printed out the tutorial from iWeb and lso from the server, but when it comes down to CNAME, MX Record, A Record, NS Record..........help?
    Thank you.

If you have published your site to MobileMe, then you DO NOT need to use ftp in any way shape or form.  FTP is only needed if you are uploading your site directly to a hosting account, which you have now said that you do not have, just the domain name.
Also, you ARE NOT trying to forward MobileMe to your domain name - it is the other way around - what you will do if forward your domain name to MobileMe where you site is published.
    1.  Log in to your MobileMe account under System Preferences and go to where is has Personal Domain on the left hand side and click on this and then where it has enable your domain name, simply enter your domain name here and it will then tell you to go to your domain name registrar and set up CNAME forwarding.
    2.  Go to where you domain name is (your domain name registrar) and log into your account there and then go to the DNS settings and set up CNAME forwarding.
If you have A records, then you need to delete these and set up 2 new CNAME's, one for www and one for @. The www represents your sub domain, which is http://www.domain.com and then the @ represents your domain name itself which is http://domain.com.
Set up CNAME forwarding for both these so it should look something like this:
    www CNAME web.me.com
    @ CNAME web.me.com
This is all you need do and your site should then work.
You might have got the correct help here faster if you had stated from the start that you were actually publishing your site to MobileMe.
Also remember, that MobileMe will no longer be here next year, so you will need to get a hosting account from another company, preferably the same company that your domain name is registered with.

  • Best way to transfer to another Mac

Recently, I had to restore my Mac from a Time Machine backup due to some issues I was experiencing. Although the backup restored my applications, all of my preferences, settings, and ssh keys were reset, leading to a significant amount of work after the backup. I am looking to buy a new Mac soon, and I want the transition to be much smoother. Will using a Thunderbolt cable to transfer provide a more complete restoration than Time Machine? If not, are there other ways to more completely replicate my old computer to a new one? I don't want to reconfigure all my settings after I get a new computer.

    Some context:
I was using the OS X Yosemite beta when I decided to restore back to Mavericks. However, the instructions Apple provided for doing so were not working, so I had to take a long alternative route. I used Internet Recovery to restore my system to OS X Lion (10.7), updated to Mavericks through the App Store, then used Migration Assistant to restore my computer from a Time Machine backup. In the process, I had to create a new user account (after Lion was installed). Maybe this is what caused the issue, but shouldn't Time Machine still have restored everything properly?

  • Buy songs on one Mac and then transfer to another Mac/iTunes Lib?

    Hi,
I have my main machine at home and usually use iTunes there to shop the store. Now recently I have to be on the road a lot and when I check into the hotel, I use my Macbook to occasionally browse the iTunes store. And sometimes I want to buy something. What happens to those songs? They will end up in the iTunes library on my Macbook. Is it easily posible to transfer them over to my main library on my other Mac?
    Thanks
    Sascha

So I just copy them over? That's it?
    Yes.
    What about the DRM?
The DRM doesn't prevent copying of the files, but it requires authorization before the files can be played or otherwise used, and only five computers can be simultaneously authorized.

  • Iweb access from other Macs

does anyone know how to access your own iweb site from another Mac ,say on another premisis,
we have iweb 06 on the Mac pro and want to acsess it and change pages from our Mac book pro
    regards
    the oakley blogger

You can as long as both Macs are running the same version of iWeb.
Your website information is in a domain file located in Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb.
Copy this file and paste it into the equivalent location on the other mac. Double click this file to open iWeb. If the second Mac already has a domain file, you might want to drag it out into a new folder first to stop it being overwritten.
Every time you do any changes to a site on one Mac you have to refresh the domain file on the other.
If the computers are in different locations, you can make the transfer using a portable drive or by creating a ZIP of the domain file and emailing it.

  • My new iMac hung up during Transferring from another Mac. How do I restart it?

My new iMac with fusion drive hung up during transfer from another Mac.  How do I restart it?

I'm afraid you'll have to power down both, then...
    For the 2 macs...
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
    Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
