IWeb uploads failure

I am unable to upload my pages to Iweb. It gets about 3/4 of the way through and I get an Idisk error or the message that of the files can't be uploaded. Any ideas.
Thanks,
gscottn

gScott.... here's another fix I found. Tried it when I had an error and it worked great.
“iDisk Quota Error” fix
A. Quit iWeb, if it is open. Select Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu.
Then type (or copy and paste) ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb into
the field and click Go. You should now see a file named, Domain.
(or you could just do it manually by opening the hard disk, open the Users folder, then open the Folder with your user name on it, open the Library folder, open the application support folder, open the iweb folder, and then you should be looking at the DOMAIN file.)
This is a Mac OSX package file. Note: A package is a relatively common type of document in Mac OSX; it is essentially a sealed folder. It contains individual items, but cannot be opened in the same manner as a folder.
B. To open the package, hold the Control Key and click on the Domain package file. Note: If you have a two-button mouse, this step can be accomplished by right-clicking the Domain package file.
C. Select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu that appears.
D. A new window will appear containing a folder named Contents.
E. Open the Contents folder. Here you will see one, and possibly two files named assets.<membername>.groups.<groupname>.plist or assets.<membername>.plist, where <membername> and <groupname> correspond to your .Mac member name and .Mac Group name. Note: Your .Mac member name is the first part of your .Mac email address, before "@mac.com."
NOTE FROM ME... I didn’t find these files in the Contents folder, I found
them when I opened the Domain File itself. Whatever.. when you find one,
or maybe both of these files, delete them. (some people have both, some
have one)
F. If you have either or both of these files, move them to the trash. Then close
the Contents window.
G. Relaunch iWeb and try publishing again.

    Hi,
My system is unable to upload the file to SRS server stating the below error:-

Pls. give me the solution for this

I believe this is a cross post, please only post in one location. Do you
observe any errors to std.out or std.err vs. the log file? Sometimes when
there are memory errors there is no more resources to log messages and the
error (by the VM) will go to std out/err. Also you might turn on -verbosegc
to see what is going on with memory during the test. Are you trying to
bring the entire upload into memory prior to writing it to disk, or are you
              writing as you go?

  • Why isn't iWeb uploading my changes?

For some reason iWeb is not updating my changes I make to my pages, especially my blog. I check to make sure the connection is good and it still will not upload. I save changes and then try to get out of iWeb and I get the error message that says quitting during upload could cause problems to the website.
    What is going on?

The iWeb FTP will not upload files with bad names.
Check your files - paticularly image files - for spaces and/or special characters and remove them.

  • Iweb, upload pictures for family sharing/exchange

Before I build my iweb site, will I be able to upload pictures/files that my sister can download from her computer. And can I password protect this activity?

There are lots of different ways you can do this. The main benefit of iWeb, though, is that you will be able to easily and quickly place photos online to share with your family. iWeb has a built in photo template with slideshow that you can use to make a pretty good looking website in a matter of minutes.
But since iWeb is geared toward displaying images on the web, the photos that you share with iWeb will first be reduced in size or optimized for displaying them online. The photos can be downloaded or saved from your iWeb photo page by control-clicking on the photo and then selecting "Save to desktop". However this will only yield the optimized or lower-resolution photos that may not be suitable for printing enlargements, etc.
Regarding your iWeb website... yes, iWeb does have a feature to password protect your site as a whole so that people would need a password in order to be able to enter and see your site.

  • IWeb uploading sample image

    Hi
I've just uploaded my website which is being hosted by ipage, I used the Publish Site option vie SEO Tool for iweb. I then made some alterations to the website in iWeb and then reloaded the site.
Now all of a sudden a random sample image has appeared on the home page yet it's not showing on the home page in iWeb. I've deleted all of the folders and reloaded them, deleted history and cleared any saved info that I could find under preferences but image is still showing. I've also created a new blank page and copied over the information I wanted to use to ensure the image wasn't underneth yet still it's showing on the live site
Any ideas why / how this is happening and if I can get rid of it?
    Thanks in advance
    Carly

I would recommend that you use an FTP application to upload the files after processing with SEO Tool.
Either that or contact Rage tech support and ask them to deal with the problem.
Publish your site to a local folder and launch it in the browser by double clicking the external index.html file. Is this version OK?
Then process the files with the Tool and test again. Is this version OK?

  • Iweb upload to host other than apple

Is this possible? Can I change the settings inside of iweb so that it will upload the site to a different host, other than apple. I'm a dreamweaver user and I have to help out a number of people and they all just got new macbooks. Since it has iweb already, it would be great to use it, but we didn't get the mac accounts. The office did open an independent site with a generic hosting service.
One person says that we can upload the site to the our purchased host through FTP. Sure, but everyone is COMPLETELY computer illiterate. So that isn't a solution. We need something they can just press and it will work. Can I configure iweb to do this. This is a Yes or NO question. I just need to know. I can do the legwork myself, but before I get started down that road, I need to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Otherwise it's dreamweaver.
Thank you. Whoever you are that has the answer.

Whatever happened to helping people to learn or teaching, or has this art suddenly disappeared? I am sure that most people were computer illiterate as you put it before we got our hands on one and were taught or helped to learn how to use it. I know I was. I remember about 16 years ago now, when I was at university, I needed a computer, so I purchased an Amstrad. It was a black and white monitor and had no hard drive, so all work needed to be saved on a floppy disc. This saw me through uni and I then decided to buy my first proper computer which was a Viglen PC. This had an internet connection and I learned how to use this by fiddling myself and reading books and with help from others.
It was not long after this that Apple bought out the first iMacs - the Tangerine iMacs that were 500 Mghz. I bought one of these for my parents as they wanted something simple to use without all the leads and connections that PC's had. I set it up for them and used it myself and was so impressed with it, that I went out and bought one for myself and have never looked back. It ran OS 8, which was quite unstable and kept crashing and freezing all the time. I learned how to use this myself.
Since then, I have graduated to the latest Macs and the latest software, but they are easy to use even for the computer illiterate. Even the computer illiterate can learn if they are taught.
I totally agree with what Roddy has said. How hard can it really be to publish to a folder - this can be done from within iWeb itself, by selecting the Publish to MMe or a folder option? If someone were to set up an ftp client such as Cyberduck for people to use and have all the info needed entered into it, then all they need do is click on upload and select first the site folder and then the index file. Is this really going to be so hard?
Do you really think that using Dreamweaver is going to be easier than using iWeb? If these people are not even able to click on publish to a folder and then upload using Cyberduck themselves, then do you really think that they will be able to use Dreamweaver any better? Dream on then if you think this!!

You need to use your FTP application to look at where the files are being uploaded to on the server or use your host's file manager.
With iWeb, you have a choice of uploading the whole folder of files along with the external index.html file or to upload the contents of the folder. In both cases, you need to identify the root folder and upload to that.
The iWeb FTP uses the first method and publishing to a local folder and uploading via FTP gives you a choice of either...

  • How do I change the directory that iWeb uploads my website to?

I uploaded my company website to my server using the FTP function in iWeb, but rather than putting it in the main directory (/public_html) it created a sub-directory within the main directory (/public_html/my company name) and put it in there.  I used another FTP program to move everything back into the main directory, but now when I make a change to the site using iWeb it again puts the changed pages into a sub-folder.  These new/changed pages therefore don't appear on my site on the internet. Can anyone please advise how I can get the changes I've made on iWeb into my website online?

  • HELP!!!!  IWEB  UPLOADS FOREVER - IT NEVER FINISHES UPLOADING

I have been working on iweb - problem free - for several weeks. Suddenly, whenever I try to upload, it will not finish. Right now, it has been uploading for 6 hours. If I try to quit iweb, it says, "sure you want to quit, still uploading." I did add a bunch of material - but just some small graphics and minimal text. And i did some re-organizing of my site. Help...
I was thinking, maybe I should remove every page that is unnecessary - I have a few extra pages that I use as templates. However, if I did this, is there a way I can back it up and feel confident that I'll get those pages back?
Does making a copy of the "DOMAIN" file work - as a backup? I have found that when i publish to a folder, this presents more problems than anything else. I can't seem to restore when I do this,
Is my uploading problem related to idisk? I do not use idisk for anything else except my site. Any help would really be appreciated: I am on the verge of completing my site and my site is tied into my work and income. thank you much
    G-4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Making a copy of the Domain file is the ONLY way of backing up your iWeb work. Publishing your site to folder DOES NOT constitute a backup in any way. You should backup your Domain file NOW before proceeding.
After you have backed up your Domain file and put it in a safe place, I'd like you to try something with me... a little experiment if you are willing.
When you are ready and ONLY WHEN YOU HAVE BACKED UP YOUR DOMAIN FILE, follow these steps...
    1. Open up iWeb. See your sites in the window, right?
    2. Keeping iWeb open, now go and find your Domain file in the following folder pathway: /Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/iWeb/
    3. Drag the Domain file into the trash but DO NOT EMPTY THE TRASH.
    4. Now go back to the open iWeb application. Click on File>Save.
    5. iWeb should complain that your Domain file is in the trash and offer to save another copy for you in the original location. Click okay and let it save a new Domain file for you.
    6. Now quit iWeb and then relaunch it. Do you see your sites listed still? You should.
    7. Try to publish and see if you notice any improvement.
    8. Please report back with your results.
REMEMBER...if at any point something does not seem to work, your original Domain file is sitting in the trash ready for you to drag back to its original location. You should also have a backup copy of this as I advised before.
    Let me know what happens.

  • IWeb uploads entire site each time I publish

I have 3 sites in iWeb .. 2 are working fine, but one of them uploads ALL the files each time I publish ... There are no errors showing ... all ok .. but always shows a red page somewhere once published. If I click publish again, it uploads everything and takes over an hour because of the video and media ... any suggestions?

I have 4 sites that I am creating on iweb 08
You're posting in the 09 forum.
To accomplish what you want , you should consider doing this :
    Go to :
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/
where ~ is your Home drectory and duplicate the domain.Sites2 file as many times as neccesssary.
Give each file a descriptive name.
    1. Double-click a file to open it in iWeb.
    2. Delete the Sites you do not want, leaving the one you do want.
    3. Do Save and quit iWeb.
Repeat 1 to 3 with another file.
You can now edit and publish each Site without the others.
For your convenience, drag the folder to the dock. Next time click it and choose the file you want.
For even more convenience, skip the steps above and buy --iWeb-- iLife 09. Then you can publish the Site of your choice independent of the other Sites in the file.

  • IWeb Upload to Yahoo

My apologies in advance if this sounds like a tired topic but I can't find the answer I need.
I’ve just created a website for my photography business using iWeb. I decided not to go with the .Mac account route for hosting the site and, after much research, decided to give Yahoo a try so I signed up yesterday for the Starter package along with my domain name (www.darrengustphoto.com).
I'm a little bit lost about which files (other than ‘index.html’) need to be uploaded (via FTP) to the hosting site. Do I need to also load the whole folder that goes by the website name used in iWeb? I tried this but it isn’t working…. I did call Yahoo Customer Support but both techs. claimed they couldn't answer my suggestion and suggested I ask over here, duh...
Also, I am aware that the page names in iWeb cannot have any spaces in them. I’ve read that the photo file names cannot have spaces either. I’ve got over three hundred images (low res jpegs), all of which have spaces in the name! But I can go and batch process the naming in Photoshop to remove the spaces and re-import them into iWeb – a lot of work but if that’s what it takes, so be it.
Here’s where I’m a bit unclear – after I import the files into an iWeb page I rename the photo that appears in the page itself (not the root photo file that’s stored in the iWeb folder after publishing) to give it the actual photo title along with the location of the photo and the year it was taken. This is standard titling procedure for photographers who sell their prints (as is my intent). Is it wrong for me to rename the file on the page itself to include spaces? I had assumed this name serves only as a ‘title’ and should not affect the actual name of the original photo that it is being linked to.
For example, if I have an image named “AZ21.jpg” (no spaces in the original) and import this into an iWeb page, I will rename the photo on the page to “Cactus On Hill, Arizona, 2006”. After I publish the website and go back to the folder pertaining to the site, the jpeg image retains it’s original title without the spaces (AZ21.jpg).
    Thanks!

When you do a Publish to Folder in iWeb, you specify a folder in which you want iWeb to publish to. It is the entire contents of this folder that must be uploaded to your server. This consists of two items... the index.html FILE and your site FOLDER (in its entirety). You must upload these two items (without the enclosing folder) to the root directory of your server in order for your pages to function.
Also, I am aware that the page names in iWeb cannot have any spaces in them. I’ve read that the photo file names cannot have spaces either. I’ve got over three hundred images (low res jpegs), all of which have spaces in the name! Yes, I remember this limitation of Yahoo... the problem here is that you can only control the names of your images, but iWeb even publishes some of it's own files with spaces in the names. You are better off leaving your naming the way it is and then using a utility called iWeb FTP Utility after you publish to take out the spaces for you. It will not only correct the filenames but also all the different referring URLs in the HTML code that refer to these filenames. You see, it is not enough to change the filenames by yourself. That's why you are better off leaving them as they are and then using iWeb FTP Utility.
Here’s where I’m a bit unclear – after I import the files into an iWeb page I rename the photo that appears in the page itself (not the root photo file that’s stored in the iWeb folder after publishing) to give it the actual photo title along with the location of the photo and the year it was taken. I wouldn't even bother doing this. You can name the photos whatever you like in iPhoto or however you organize them. But for the purposes of getting them into iWeb and out to the web, it doesn't really matter what their names are as long as they form legal URLs.
Let me know if you have any questions about any of this. I'll be happy to see you through the process.

  • YouTube upload failure

I am trying to upload a video to youtube from premiere pro.  It keeps telling me the file format is not supported and wont upload.  I havent changed any settings that i know of from previous videos.  Please help

    Welcome to the forum.
Are you hoping to do an upload to YouTube directly from Premiere Pro? That will not work.
Now, if you are already doing an Export of your Timeline with the H.264 YouTube preset, and then trying to manually upload to YouTube, and meeting with failure, it could be as simple as having a longer Duration, than your particular account allows.
Can you help us help you, with a bit more information:
Which version of Premiere Pro are you using?
Are you using the H.264 YouTube preset?
What is the total Duration of the Timeline, and the Exported file, and how does that compare with the limits on your account?
Exactly what error message are you getting - full details please?
    Good luck,
