IWeb website security question

If I host a iWeb website on my own server, how secure is that?-> what I mean is can someone only access files on the site or can they access the whole Server (running 10.5.6, not OS X server)?

This article appears to be PC-centric rather than Mac, but it may help:
_How do I host my own website at home?_
...which asks the qstn:
_Should I host my own web server?_

I am only now thinking of this. . .
How secure it my website to hackers? Do I need to do anything to protect it from people messing with the content?
There is a Dubai-based website that keeps having serious issues with their forum - hackers get in and post pornographic messages, which is a huge no-no in the Middle East -- so the keep needing to completely close the site until they get things fixed.
I don't have a forum on my website and don't plan to add one, but is my site safe from the random jerk who just wants to mess with things? I obviously have the original files on my Mac so I could restore the files. . .but I'm still curious about how the security thing works.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    roxpat

Roxpat ~ Last month, this _iWeb FAQ site_ was hacked — see this old thread:
...Whilst you await further replies to your qstn, you may want to contact the author of that site for his advice on keeping hackers out.
Meanwhile, you can see what Google thinks of your site's current "Safe Browsing" status here.
As a result of putting in your site's URL there, Google will generate a diagnostic page — who's URL you'll see in your browser's address bar. ...If you want to automatically and regularly check that Google diagnostic page for changes, this free _Changes Meter_ may help. (Although you may get some false positives as Google reports the date it last visited your site — which presumably changes regularly.)

  • After answering the three security questions on itunes connect the submit button is still grayed out. It looks like it could be an error on the website. Has anyone encountered this issue?

After answering the three security questions to update an app on itunes connect the submit button is grayed out. It looks like an error on the website. Has anyone ran into this problem before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi evanVIT,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that issues like the one you are experiencing can be very frustrating. For this situation however, for update errors in the range of 3000-3020, I would recommend the troubleshooting steps located in the attached article. Please use the steps and information as a reference.
Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
    Cheers,

  • I'm using a new computer and to open one website I have to answer the security questions each time saying that the site doesn't recognize this computer.

Each time I try to open my "ubt" website, I get a message that says the site does not recognize this computer so I have to answer the security questions each time. I get the message "You are attempting to log in to your account from a computer that we do not recognize..." All other websites work just fine. The Mac store person could not figure it out. This site works on Safari, but I prefer Firefox.

The ipod is not a backup device. The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  Without syncing:File>transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your  old computer to your new one.

  • I want to buy an in app purchase, I have forgotten my security questions. And I can't change them in the apple website unless I answer those as well. What do I do ?

I Want to Purchase something from an app, and I can't do so unless I answer the security questions. I have forgotten my security questions. I cannot change them in the apple website either. Unless I answer my original security questions. What do I do ?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • Financial website doesn't recognize my computer and asks security questions each time I log in

When I sign into a financial website it doesn't remember my mac and requires me to answer security questions each time.  I called the website and they said the problem is with my mac's settings.  Anyone else have this problem?

They do it for YOUR protectoin and security and to avoid someone else pretending to be you.
They may or may not use cookies and other things.
it is possible it was designed to work with a differenent browser or even platform though I would say that has gotten rarer.
    Assuming you use Apple Safari
    Safari
    http://www.apple.com/support/safari
you are asking us to make assumptions and jump to conclusions also.
    Enable the Developer menu in Safari and User Agent setting to 'tell' a site you are using something else;
    try using Firefox 3.6.17 also.

  • HT5312 Please send me security questions to my rescue emails ... i forgot it and your claver website doesn't give option to request sending it to my rescue mail!!!!!!!

Please send me security questions to my rescue emails ... i forgot it and your claver website doesn't give option to request sending it to my rescue mail!!!!!!!

We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
If you had a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) then you would get the reset link on your account - if you aren't getting the link then you don't have one, and you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions, you will need to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 page that you posted from to add a rescue email address for potential future use

  • HT5312 How do I get this email for the security questions? It's only a copy on the website so I can't send it or fill it out.

The rescue email on the website is only a copy, so I can't fill it out or send it. What am I supposed to do?

You've followed the steps half-way down that page :
Navigate to appleid.apple.com using your web browser.
    Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
    Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
The reset link will only show if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account. If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.

  • I have money in my iTunes account but when I went to buy an app it said I had to do security questions and I don't remember my answers and it have me a page to go to but the reset website is sending to an email that isn't mine so I can't get my app

how can I reset my rescue email?

You cannot and need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if the article doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.
Changing the rescue email address requires supplying two of the answers. They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • After i enter a website it appears a security question when i say for it to allow the webpage appears out of normal, what to do?

when i'm entenring a page like facebook the security question appears, i press ad exception and then the page appears nothing like normal, it apears like someone copyed every text and put in Word.

That sounds strange. Are you sure it's the correct site?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
That will open a dialog where you can remove the cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • I have been on the phone with Apple support trying to reset my security questions because I have forgotten them, she said I had to go on the apple website and find a code.. what is this code called?

Does anyone know how to rest their  security questions because I have forgotten mine!

How to reset your Apple ID security questions.
Go to appleid.apple.com, click on the blue button that says 'Manage Your Apple ID'.
Log in with your Apple ID and password. (If you have forgotten your Apple ID password, go to iforgot.apple.com first to reset your password with a password recovery email)
Go to the Password & Security section on the left side, and click on the link underneath the security questions that says 'Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to [email]'.
This will generate an automated e-mail that will allow you to reset your security questions.
If that doesn't work, or  there is no rescue email link available, then click on 'Temporary Support PIN' that is in the bottom left side, and generate a 4-digit PIN for the Apple Account Security Advisor you will be contacting later.
    Next, go to https://getsupport.apple.com
(If you see a message that says 'There are no products registered to this Apple ID, simply click on 'See all products and services')
Choose 'More Products & Services', then 'Apple ID'.
    A new page will open.
Choose 'Other Apple ID Topics', then 'Forgotten Apple ID Security Questions'.
    Click the blue 'Continue' button.
Select the contact option that suits your needs best.

  • HT5312 I cannot use my apple id because every time I get into my account with the correct password, it prompts me for security questions which I've forgotten my answers.  It does not let me  reset my security questions even using a rescue email.  Help!!!

I feel like I'm in an infinite loop.  I have all of the information correct except my security questions -- I set them up quickly and forgot what I answered.  Per the FAQs on Apple's website, I should be able to get a rescue email that allows me to reset the answers to the questions, however all I get is a rescue email to reset my password.  This is my first time trying to use this account and I can't get around the security questions.  Can anyone help me?  I just want to download some music to my mini iPad.

Click here, phone them, and ask for the Account Security team, or fill out and submit this form.

  • When I go to buy something it makes me answer security questions I don't remember and when I try to reset them it doesn't email me a link?

I got a $25 itunes card and loaded it onto my account no problem, then I go to buy some music and it makes me answer security questions I don't remember so I requested for the link to reset them (I've done it numerous times many days in a row) and the link never sends. I've also done many things on the apple website and tried using the itunes store on my laptop and nothing is working. Help?
