IWeb will NOT talk to GO DADDY!

I created a new web site using iweb, everything looks fine. I did this so I could manage and quickly change my videos/pics when I wanted.
BUT naturally, it does NOT want to connect to my host (GO DADDY). GD says everything is fine on there end, but iWeb will not post correctly to the root directory. It made another directory and started posting there. My web site still looks like the old one and I can't over ride it with the new iweb look. HELP!

iWeb seems to do that. I haven't found a way to get around it. I'm having what may be a related problem -- I wanted to use a different template, so rather than re-do my existing site, I created a new site with the new template & uploaded it to the GoDaddy server.
Boy did THAT screw things up! In the browser, it would load up each page ONCE, then I couldn't get the server to respond, even by hitting back button. So I deleted the newer site from iWeb, deleted all files on the GoDaddy server using an FTP program & re-uploaded the original site.
Same issue. Now the original version loads each page once -- trying to navigate to the different pages via the menu or the back button just gives a server isn't responding message.
I think this is a variant of the problem you're having. It will be interesting to see if someone can figure this out.

Delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder. Then launch iWeb and see if it opens.
What happened was trying to open the html file reset the file path that iWeb saves in its preference file to tell it where to go when you launch iWeb. Deleting the pref file and launching iWeb creates a new file and iWeb looks in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder for the Domain.sites2 file it uses to create your site.

Hello,
iWeb will not launch. Here is the error message: 'The application iWeb quit unexpectedly. The problem may be caused by the SF Word Processing plug-in'.
Should I find this plug-in and delete it? If so, where is it located?

Your OS seems to be 10.5.7 but if you are in fact using Snow Leopard you can have a look at these two fixes....

Iweb will not open

Iweb will not open, it shows up in the dock with the option to quit. "Adjust image" "colors" and "photos" all show up under the VIEW when selected but that all. No apple stores in my area. Could use some help.

You're saying you don't see an iWeb window when you double click on the iWeb icon in the Dock?
It's partially open since the iWeb icon in the dock offers the Quit option. So first try this:
open iPhoto.
select a few photos.
use the Share ➙ iWeb ➙ Photos page menu option.
launch iWeb to see if there's any change.
It might take a couple of attempts to work. If the above doesn't work try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iiWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder.

iweb will not publish. i keep getting error message saying I need to sign in but i'm ALREADY signed in. this mobilme stuff is a mess and i am not happy about this...
any suggestions on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated...

I can usually get thru on the second or third try using the File->Publish to MobileMe menu option repeatedly.

If you are trying to launch iWeb '09 with a domain file made in iWeb '08, drag the domain file out of Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb into a new folder and then try launching.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

Itunes 7 and ipod will not talk. No WAY TO RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS!

Hi,
update to itunes 7, plugged in my ipod and got the message "itunes cannon read the contents of the ipod "IPOD" Go to the Summary tab in ipod prefrences and click Restore to restore the ipod to factory settings".
But there is no ipod prefrences tab in itunes becuase itunes can't read the contents of the ipod! A reset through the ipod did no good!
I am now stuck with a ipod that can not talk to itunes! How can I reset my ipod to factory defaults if itunes does not see it? And no, the old updater does not work, it says you must update through itunes 7.
How do I fix this ?

This is all interesting and much of it consistent with problems I'm having across of the iPODs we have within our household since migrating to iTunes Release 7! Both our past generation and current iPOD can no longer be synched with iTunes. I seriously hope Apple addresses this issue soon! I've tried numerous approaches. I can't get my wife and daughter's iPOD minis to synch at all! My generation 3 I am able to force it to update by unstalling and reinstalling the driver in Windows. Then by uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. It will then load the music from iTunes on to my iPOD. iTunes will indicate the update is complete but the iPOD will not indicate the update is complete. Appreciate any thoughts or ideas that others may discover to resolve. I'm currently convinced this is an issue with iTunes Release 7 though as I'm not able to get any of our iPODs to work which includes my gen 3, our minis or nanos.

New Prob: I have split all my sites onto new sites and everything has worked fine for two years now, Then I tried to add a site with old family movies which has film from the first races in Watkins Glen, really cool stuff my Grand Dad Lou Teemley took. Any way I had some music on there from my I tunes.
Then I tried to publish and I got the old error message, not connected to the internet etc...
So I made a new site and put the films on their on site etc... still will not publish and now my main site can not be found and I can not publish that site either. What Gives???? Thanks

You might try a different way of adding the video files to the web page. This demo page has one where the file does not load until the play button is selected: Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window. This demo page has 9 short videos on it using that method: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes. Just add a screenshot of one of the movie frames or any photo you want and add the Play button on or below it.
You manually upload the movie file to your server so iWeb is not involved in the uploading the file at any time.
Similarly this demo page, QT movies via iFrame, has a method that has you manually uploading the file to the server and linking to it via iFrame code. That page also has other similar methods.
Another method is demonstrated in Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site on his Video page. Here you also upload manually.

Help please.. .iweb will not show pages anymore

have 2 different full sites built and have had no problem in iweb 09.. until now. had moved pages and was publishing back to folder when . . . . it wouldn't publish... then i went to open pages in iweb and it will not show any pages or any site. i can open iweb, but the directory will not come up...
even tried to restore the application .... no go.... i now have 2 sites and, oh, about 25-plus pages lost somewhere..
any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and see if there's any improvement.
If that doesn't help continue:
6 - move the domain file from your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
7 - launch iWeb, create a new test site and save.
8 - go to the your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
9 - move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
10 - launch iWeb and try again.

I opened iweb once and started my website, then the program quit unexpectedly and now it will not open anymore. can someone please help me because i really need to use the program.

Were you able to launcn iWeb as part of the second fix, that of creating a new domain file? Did iWeb open then? If not boot into Safe Mode and see if iWeb will launch. If it does reboot normally and try again.
If still a no go log into another user account on your Mac and see if iWeb will launch and open a domain file? If so than there's something in your account that is the culprit.
If you can't launch iWeb in the other user account then a reinstallation of iWeb seems warranted. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder,

Then install iPhoto from the disk it came on originally and apple the requried updaters.

My iWeb will not let me remove a downloadable file?

In iWeb I accidently created a downloadable file. Whenever someone goes on my website and clicks on the specific box it downloads a file that I have store on my computer. I tried seeing if there was text in the box and there wasn't. On the box there is the hyperlink symbol on the bottom right-hand corner.
I cannot get rid of this downloaded able file, any ideas?

I did that I cannot find it, but it is not like that. I know which box it is it has a the blue arrow thing, the hyperlink sign, but it will not let me diable it as a hyperlink. When I drag my cursor over it is says, /Expierence.., and I tried deleting it and it won't.
