Iweb won't close or update site

I recently created and uploaded a webpage to my host, but now iWeb will not close, force close, or even remain closed when I shut down the computer and turn it back on.
I have made edits to the page and had wanted to update it, but it will not publish either, or allow me to close the site from inside iWeb.
I need to be able to update the changes and close the program, but have not been able to find troubleshooting information on this anywhere.
Thanks

  • IWeb won't start after update

    Hey!
I just ran a bunch of system updates and now iWeb won't start. I reinstalled iLife'06 from the DVD and rebooted, but no luck. I have also repaired permissions and rebooted. I just get one bounce in the Dock and this message in the iWeb.crash.log:
    Host Name: Garry-Computer.local
    Date/Time: 2006-03-30 04:09:56 -0500
    OS Version: 10.3.9 (Build 7W98)

    Command: iWeb
    Path: /Applications/iWeb.app/Contents/MacOS/iWeb
    Version: ??? (???)
    PID: 478

Sounds like something major is missing from iWeb or from the iLife install.
If you didn't delete iWeb and the install package receipts from your computer before reinstalling iLife, iWeb would have only been updated. If it was corrupted before the update, the problem would not have been fixed by a reinstall.
Backup your domain file before doing anything else! It's in username/Library/Application Support/iWeb. Put a copy in a safe place.
Then try deleting everything to do with iWeb from your computer, going to drivename/Library/Receipts and deleting all the iWeb package receipts, empty the trash.
    Reinstall iWeb.

  • Iweb won't open all my sites after migrating over to macbook

    Hi again
So i migrated all my files and apps from my imac to my new macbook pro so that now i can do work on my movies and websites while away from the desktop.
I have several sites which I've renamed to identify them and i put the iweb folder into the dock and can choose which site to work on from there. Works perfectly ... on the imac. (I publish the sites to an external drive)
Today I opened iweb the first time on my macbook pro by clicking on one site in the iweb folder in the dock. It opened fine and i made my updates perfectly, then i closed iweb.
I clicked on a second site  in the dock folder to update it and iweb opened .... but it opened the first site ag: i closed iweb and tried a different site: the same thing happened.
So i went to the root iweb folder to select the second site and 'open with...' but the first site opened again.
I went back to the imac, and everything is fine ... so i copied the two sites to a jumpdrive to transfer to the macbook again, but still the same problem: the only iweb site that opens is the first site i worked on.
This is a problem, because i wanted the macbook so i can work on these jobs anywhere, not just on my imac (which is becoming inconvenient).
    How can i solve this?
what else can i do to open these sites? is there a workaround?
    Help !!!
    Thank you
    Elizabeth

In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • IWeb won't republish after updates

Hi folks, I just managed to Publish my first iWeb site after many episodes where the computer froze during publishing. I updated a few pages and added a couple more albums but I am not getting any options to either publish the changes, all Greyed out or to re-publish the whole site.
I have saved the file and tried clicking on the pages and albums that have been updated but still no options to re-publish appear.
If I try and shut down iWeb it says that I will lose changes while publishing but the broadcast symbol next to the site name doesn't show it is publishing.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Douglas

Have you tried to use the File->Save menu option and then shut down? If you are able to save the changes you should not get any message when you try to shut down.
If you're able to get shut down delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, reboot and try again.

  • IWeb 1.1.2 not updated site fully

I added some text to an existing page and added another page that contained a movie. The movie page updated fine but the front page with the text on it won't update? Any ideas? I even added a color gradient to the background which it updated but it wont change the text.

do that everytime after you publish - because many visit their site often and so you save a lot of cache!

  • Pop up box in yahoo mail won't close, asks "do you use the yahoo! toolbar on multiple computers?" has option buttons but no response when clicking on anything, pop up box just sits there in the way

whenever I open my yahoo mail when using Firefox, a pop up box appears on the upper left side of the screen, it asks the question "do you use the yahoo! toolbar on multiple computers?" and gives click boxes for "Save to my yahoo ID" and "No thanks, just save to this computer". I get no response to clicking on either box, nor will the pop up close if I click on the "X" in the upper right corner of this pop up. It won't close out and it sits right over the top of the email messages in my inbox. All else seems to work fine, but can't get rid of this pop up box....very annoying.

go mail.yahoo.com as the login entrance for yahoo mail.

  • IWeb won't publish my daughter's sites (multiple users; one computer)

Our daughters have their own computer, so I created two user accounts (one for each). They also each have their own MobileMe account (under a family plan).
Each has created a site in iWeb. However, I can't get iWeb to upload either site. Each time I click publish, it says "sign in to Mobile Me" and the system preferences window pops up. It seems to log in to the account, automatically. iWeb has a window open saying "Logging in" When I click to return to iWeb, that "logging in" window disappears and nothing else happens. Nothing is uploaded.
Even if I try again, it says "log in" again. I don't understand why they aren't logged in automatically, all the time, under their username and why iWeb won't upload anything.

    Jim:
    Try the following. Even though it's for a different problem, mail in this case, it has helped others with your problem;
    Source: http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/mobileme/index.html#d30jul2008

After waiting a day for the rolling restore to happen, I called AppleCare because Apple had sent an email saying my service was back, and it wasn't. I still could send and not receive using Mail.
*Here is what fixed it*. Go to MobileMe (terrible name) in System Preferences, log out. Then enter a garbage name and password and try to log in. This apparently clears the MobileMe preferences. Then enter your real UserName and PassWord. For me this was lights on.
I am left wondering how long ago I could have had email had I known this preference reset scheme.

  • IWeb not updating site changes, even overnight!

    Hi iWeb-experts,
Having problems with iWeb and have waded through the site and other forums and yet to find a solution.
Site is marccheckley.com. I successfully moved the site before MobileMe closed shop and made updates to the site a few months back.
Now I'm trying to upload further changes but iWeb has stopped functioning. I get no status that the site is being changed, as it was previously. And I know this has not happened as I have it linked to my Facebook and no "updated website" has popped up on my Wall.
I even left it overnight to update website changes and still nothing. Even clearing brower's cache etc. I tested the FTP connection all good and nothing been changed since my last updates a while back.
All 'pages' of site remain red, not updated in iWeb.
Really not sure what's happened. Nothing but probs since the closure of MobileMe, my podcast is still on hiatus due to linking problems, now website issues with iWeb.
Anyone have an idea and fix?
    Always appreciated.

If you are using the iWeb FTP to upload make sure the box next to "Update my Facebook profile when I publish this site" is unchecked. Checking this box prevents the FTP from working.
Also make sure you have no bad file names with spaces or special characters - particularly image files. This will halt the upload process.

  • IWeb not allowing me up update my site

i've just updated my site on iWeb.  when i click "publish site" it asks me to login to mobileme but i'm already logged in and my account has been transferred to icloud.
the publishing page shows that my idisk is full but my mobile me shows that i have more than 21 gb availabe.
is this a mobile me vs. icloud issue and iweb hasn't been updated?
    i'm on iweb 3.0.4
    on 10.7.2
    thanks for any help

If you're finding issues with iWeb (not related to publishning to MobileMe) try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Mail won't close after security update

I just installed the recent security update (running 10.4.8) and now Mail won't close on either my Dual g% tower or on my iBook. In fact, both computers were unable to reboot after the install because the mail program needed to be force quit.
This was never a problem prior to the install of the security update.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

Problems arising right after installing a system update are usually the result of the problem already being there, or not having installed the update properly, or ignoring Apple’s "Important: Please read before installing" warnings, etc., rather than being caused by the update itself. In order to ensure that the update is installed properly, proceed as follows.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, reinstall the update that appears to not have been installed properly.
Take a look at the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:
    Troubleshooting installation and software updates
    Installing software updates
Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk before installing the update, no applications should be running while installing it, and you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed.
The above won’t solve the problem, but will allow us to at least troubleshoot it properly. Post back with your observations when done.
How many accounts do you have and what type are they (POP, IMAP, .Mac)?
In Mail, open Window > Activity Viewer. What do you see there when Mail refuses to quit? Actually, you may be able to avoid having to force quit Mail by canceling whatever it’s doing (by clicking on the red stop icon of the activity).
Do you have any Mail plug-ins or any system utilities that could interfere with Mail? In the Finder, go to each of the following folders (if they exist). What do you see there?
    /Library/InputManagers/
    ~/Library/InputManagers/
    /Library/Mail/Bundles/
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles/
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the file path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the file path there.

  • IWeb quits when trying to update my site

When I open iWeb it tells me I need to update my site file (something like that). I click Update and it starts a process and then crashes. Every time. Any ideas?

No luck here. Tried all that and still get the same results. iWeb crashes when trying to update my domain file. My site is way too far along to re-create, besides the fact that I shouldn't have to do that just to get the new version to work. This isn't like going from OS9 ot OSX, this is like going from 10.4.1 to 10.4.2. No where were we told that our old sites would not be compatible. I'm not going to jump through all sorts of hoops to get this to work, at least not through any more than I've already jumped through. Apple needs to acknowledge this is a problem and fix it. I've already shown them how to fix iDVD, it's their turn to fix iWeb!

  • Calendar posted via Iweb won't update initial view to current month

I have a calendar which updates automatically onto a page I have created with Iweb. Although the events update fine to the site, the view on the page is always May of 09 and I have to click forward to get to the current month. Is there a way to set it up to always show the current month?

    Hello Snagglebits2
I am an Solutions Engineer for a hosted exchange provider, and that is some good information.
I have not tested this out, but i will. I do remember when i had my ipod touch, that it would sync perfectly over WiFi, but i do not know if i ever tested this by USB.
You should also make sure your customer is on a hosted exchange service that uses Akami.
