IWeb Won't Let Me Publish

All of a sudden my iWeb site won't let me publish my site.
When I click publish, it loads and it says 'logging into MobileMe' and iWeb just freezes and I have to force to close the app by clicking on it at the dock.
Can anyone help me or know why it's doing this?
Thanks

Hiya I'm just wandering if you could help us, I'v experiencing the exact same problem as what you were having!! However I cannot seem to rectify it. My website has been published now for about six months and have had absolutely no problems at all until recently. I'm trying to publish to mobile me from iweb 08. I changed my password but no luck!! Just wandering if you might know? Cheers.

    Hello,
not sure what is going on here.  All of the sudden iWeb won't let me publish my site.  When I go to publish a Mobileme window comes up asking me to sign in.  Maybe I changed my password without remembering it.  How do I get me password and Member Name info?
    thanks,

Ok, I can sign into apple.com with a new password but still can't publish my website from iWeb or sign in from there.  Someone please help before I smash my computer!

  • IWeb won't let me publish 2 sites to mobileme....

I have 2 sites created with iweb with 2 different domain names.  When I edit both sites, only one site gets published.  I do not even have the option of 'publish to mobileme" on pages of my second site.  I have tried 'publish all' and Iweb shows that both sites are being uploaded but then no changes appear on site #2 online when refreshed...  Can anyone help me?

iWeb 2 always publsihed all sites in the doman file.  That's why many users would create individual domain files for publishing. However, if publsihing to the same MMe account there new site would be published but the existing site(s) would be deleted.
The fact that you're publishing the two sites to different accounts would aleviate that potential problem. For using multiple domain files with iWeb 2 I sugget you get iWebSites.
I use iWebSites to manage over 75 individual sites.  It lets me create multiple sites:
    and multiple domian files:
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow that I used to split them into individual sites with iWebSites:
Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.
If you don't use iWS you can publish your sites to a folder on your hard drive and upload the site file manually to the appropriate family account on your iDisk.
NOTE:  Since iWeb is no longer being supported by Apple I suggest you purchase the boxed iLIFE 11 which contains the latest iWeb as well as iDVD which is also being discontinued by Apple.  Once those boxed copies of iLife 11 are gone there will be no way to obtain the last version of iWeb, V 3.0.4.  IMO it's worth the cost for the improvements to iWeb over version 2.  Also iWeb 3 has a builtin FTP client which will make is eacy to publish  your site(s) to a 3rd party hosting server which will be necessary after MobileMe is discontinued on June 30, 2012.
With a 3rd party host like HostExcellece, which offers a package for $3.95/mo (2 year committment) that included unlimited space and bandwidth, one free domain name, multiple email addresses and excellent 24/7 ear-to-ear customer support,  you can publish as many sites to that acocunt as you'd like.  Selecdt a domain name and publish each site to it.  The URL for each site would be www.your-domain-name.com/site-name.  So you can have as many sites under that one domain name as you'd like.   That's what I do.

  • IWeb won't let me publish using MobileMe

I am logged into the MobileMe account. I have 287 days left in my account. Two weeks ago when I made changes to my website, I clicked publish to update the website. All worked. Just made changes and when I pressed Publish, I get a MobileMe advertisement indicating I need to sign in or join. When I press status, it says I'm logged in. What do I do? thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
1 - go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
2 - login with a bogus username and password like "test" and "test". This clears the caches.
3 - login with your correct username and password.
4 - launch iWeb and try again.
    Happy Holidays

  • My iDisk Storage says it's full on my Site Publishing page and won't let me publish but when I got to my account details page looking to buy more space it says I've only used 3MB out of 20GB. Why are they different? And why did it stop letting me publish?

I've been publishing just fine for the past few days and all of the sudden, when I click 'Publish Site' now, the 'content rights' pop up shows up. But then it wants me to sign into MobileMe (to which I'm already signed in). When I click 'sign in' it takes me to System Preferences > MobileMe > Account. I click on iDisk and it says "20.4 GB total, 2.7 MB used, 20.4 GB available"
(I'm not sure why my GB available is still the same even though I've used 2.7 MB.... it wouldn't really matter though if I was able to publish.)
I went back to iWeb to my Site Publishing Settings page and at the bottom there's a bar labeled 'iDisk Storage' and it's completely blue (meaning used).
I also went to my MobileMe account to 'Summary' and under 'Mail and iDisk Storage' it says '3 MB of 20 GB used'.
I'm assuming that it's not letting me publish because it thinks that I have run out of iDisk storage but I could be wrong. I just renewed my MobileMe account in Feb so I'm all payed up.. that shouldn't be the problem. Do you know of any other reasons why it won't let me publish?
I feel like something is wacky with my iDisk Storage either way.
I really hope all of this stuff makes sense. I'm fairly new to Mac and I'm still not sure about all of the lingo.
Thank you for any advice you can give! Any suggestions will be MUCH appreciated!!

    Try the following:
    close iWeb.
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    reboot.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Iweb was not publishing changes to my personal domain name, AND now it won't let me publish at all!

Hi, i am new to the apple community so bare with me whilst i struggle to explain...
I recently purchased a hosting site through netregistry.net.  www.toyboxtherapies.com.au I spoke to them to allow the changes to the CNAME through their site. They did this for me. Once they did this my original 3 page site that I had published to mobileme came up.
When i added changes to the site, none of them were published even though iweb said they had been. I gave the site 48 hours (well, i gave them a week) to update the changes.
I went to double check today and now iweb wont let me publish to my domain name at all, it just lists File>Set up personal domain on mobile me.
When I log into mobile me my domain name is there. I have tried removing t and setting it up again, but nothing is happening with iweeb. Still the same problem.
Please help! I am trying to get this business off the ground and its all very frustrating!

This is what I see in a Lookup :
    ; <<>> DiG 9.6-ESV-R4-P3 <<>> www.toyboxtherapies.com.au cname +multiline +nocomments +nocmd +noquestion +nostats +search
    ;; global options: +cmd
    www.toyboxtherapies.com.au. 3600 IN CNAME web.me.com.
It means that the CNAME record points to MobileMe.
So go where you manage your domain and delete the CNAME record and change the  A-record(s) to point to your new webhost.
It takes some time for the changes to propagate thru the internet. A minimum of 20 minutes.
Note that when you publish to MobileMe, iWeb recieves the domainname information from the MobileMe server. Only when you publish elsewhere you have to enter the domainname. But if you do not change the settings where you host your domainname, it still directs to MMe. But that's beyond iWeb.

  • IWeb 09 won't let me publish

  • HT1338 Won't let me publish the changes I just made--the green arrow is dim...

I'm using iWeb to update my website and it won't let me select "publish."

If you are using iWeb 09, then all you need to do is select the website name and the list of publishing options will come up on the right hand side, so just select the one you want, but you need to select the website name before it will allow you to publish.

  • Contribute won't let me publish

    I have Contribute CS4 and a Mac 10.5.8.
When I open my webpage to edit, it says 'another instance' is working on the draft.
When I plow ahead and make the edit changes anyway, it works fine but won't allow me to publish.
When I hit publish it won't allow me to publish, and instead saves the changes as an html file to my desktop.
This has happened before. I have the correct FTP numbers and passwords, both for my machine and another machine where the website was first created.
    Any help appreciated.

I am having the same problem.  I am using iweb 2011 and trying to publish to mobile me.  Nothing happens when I try to publish either the whole site or publish updates.  It used to give me a dialog box that said I could keep working while the upload too place. Now all I get is a log on to facebook and then nothing else happens.  I'd also appreciate any help. Thanks.

  • There is an Error that won't let me publish my website on iWeb.

I finally got a new host for my iWeb site after MobileMe shutting down.  Everything was set up fine and the website was back up and running.  I have since made changes but every time I go to publish using the FTP server a PUBLISH ERROR alert comes up and I cannot publish...I can't even publish to a folder as backup.
What does this mean and what can I do to fix it?

A family member is hosting my site and is not familiar at all with iWeb.  this is what he had to say though could be the problem.  I don't know what this means really but does it ring any bells for someone?
    He wrote:
The only thing I see is that you are maybe writing to the wrong folder. It looks like iWeb created a www.awakenproductions.org. Instead your files should just go to the main folder ‘/’.  Do you see a setting in iWeb where you can change this? Again, not that familiar with iWeb myself.
When I asked him what '/' means he wrote this:
The ‘/’ is what is called the root. I’m guessing iWeb has a setting to tell it what directory to put files in and it just needs to be / for that value.
Thoughts?!  I'm getting desperate to get the new info published...it's time sensitive.  Thanks!

  • IWeb won't let me save

I am using iWeb and have had no problems thus far. Now, the entire file menu except for Close, Setup Google AdSense, and Page Setup are blanked out. I want to save the site and it will not let me. Any idea why this is occurring? I am afraid if I "x" out of the site, the changes will not be saved.
Also, if I click the option to "add page" the screen just blinks. Something is stopping me from making these actions.
    HELP PLEASE!

You can try publishing to a folder on the hard drive which will also save the changes. Click on the site's folder in iWeb and select Folder in the Publish To menu. Then you can use the Publish Site button at the bottom.
What do you get if you just type Command+S?
Or, move an object on one of the pages by a pixel or two and the close the iWeb window via the red button. That should bring up a window asking if you want to save the changes or not.
Once you get saved and out of iWeb open it again to see if you're still getting the same problem. If so try the following:
    1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
    4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and try again.
    If that doesn't help continue:
6 - move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
7 - launch iWeb, create a new test site, save and close iWeb.
8 - go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
9 - move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
10 - launch iWeb and try again.

  • Iweb is not letting me publish

Every time I try to publish my .mac site a "Mobile Me" pop up appears. I say "no thanks" and then it closes, and my site is not published. What can I do? Has anyone else had this problem? I have tried restarting the program and computer and the same box appears every time I try to publish.
    thanks,

Do you have a MobileMe account that you're trying to publish to? If so try the following:
1 - go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
2 - login with a bogus username and password like "test" and "test". This clears the caches.

  • IWeb won't let me add hyperlink to my iTunes album

I have successfully added hyperlinks to my iWeb page before but now I have a slight problem. I have a link provided by the iTunes store to my CD which is on iTunes. I have successfully set this up with my myspace page and other sites I use to promote my music however, when I try it on my iWeb site it will not let me. This seems ridiculous that iWeb would have a problem with hyperlinking to the iTunes store. Has anyone done this successfully? Help! p.s. When I use the inspector to copy the link in, I get an annoying little beeping noise when I try to hit enter. You know, that noise that means "that isn't going to work".

    I listened.
So let me tell you what I heard.
You have a CD in the iTunes Store.
You want to create a link to the CD in the iTunes Store.
    A link would look like:
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=285831744&s=14345 2
I demonstrated how to create such link.
If it doesn't work with iWeb, open a empty textdocument in any Texteditor of your choice and drag the link as demonstrated to the document.
You now have a link as displayed above.
    Copy the link.
    Go to iWeb.
    Open your page.
Select some text you want to hyperlink.
    Open the Inspector.
    Click the Link icon.
    Choose *External page*.
The Inspector automatically paste the phobos url in the field.
    You now have a hyperlink.
    That's what I heard.

  • IWeb won't let me do anything

For some reason, when I tried to open up iWeb, it took me to the typical editor page, except with no page in it. I can't get to the preset templates list, nor can I create a new project. It's acting like I already have a project created, but I can't even do anything with that project ("New Project"). iWeb was working for me in the past, and I don't know what could have caused this.
    Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2.0 Ghz 15" 100 GB HD

Have you updated to 1.1.2 yet? If not....don't do it just yet. First download the iWeb 1.1.1 updater image from Apple here... http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/iweb111.html Download it and install it right over the iWeb 1.1.1 installation that you have already. Now try iWeb again. Should work.
If you are already at iWeb 1.1.2, then this won't work. Try this instead...
    1. Open iWeb and leave it open
    2. Open up iPhoto and highlight a few photos
    3. Click on the iWeb button at the bottom of the screen and select Photo Page.
Does this work? If iWeb opens up a new photo page for you, then the rest of the program has probably also come back to life.
If none of this is working, then the only thing to do is to delete the current iWeb installation and reinstall from your original iLife'06 DVD or your system recovery disks. Then download iWeb 1.1.1 as described above.

  • Strange Problem: iWeb won't let me do ANYTHING

I'm not sure what the deal is, but I purchased a MacBook last Monday and I opened iWeb, but almost ALL of its menu items are "greyed-out" so that I cannot click on them. Plus the "+" button to add a new page is greyed out.
The bottom line is that I cannot do anything in iWeb, at all.

Do you have a second user account on your Mac, if so can you open iWeb from this account?
If not, go to Applications/System Preferences > Accounts, then click on the + sign in the botttom lefthand corner, then walk through the steps to set up a new user. In Login Options, tick enable Fast User Switching, it does what it says on the tin!
Click on the name in the top right hand side of the main menu bar to see the new user to switch to.
