IWeb won't save work in Lion.

Hello,
I've been using iWeb for a cuple of years, and have been creating quite a few web sites by now.
Recently, i switched to Lion, and saved my Domain file from Leopard, to the fresh new copy of Lion.
But now, in Lion, iWeb won't save my work/changes.
I've modified a site 4 times allready. As usual, i used Cmd+S and/or File>Save in order to consrve my work before the actual publishing to the MobileMe Domain. When I modify and publish my web site, the changes are present on the online version, but after i quit the application, everything comes back to the old version of the web site in iWeb. it doesn's matter whether I save or my work with Cmd+S or File>Save, nothing works. Everytime I have to start from the old version of the web site and modify everything again.
Has anyone encountered this problem and can she/he provide a solution for it?
Thake you very much for your time!

No, I have only one Domain file. Inside this Domain file, there are 2 sites. But for the past year it has been the same, and it worked well under Snow Leopard.
The Domain file (saved from Snow Leopard), i copied it to Users/user_name/Library/Application Support/iWeb. Of course, I overwrote the existing one (the sample one that comes with iWeb by default).
As far as I know, this should be the wright place to put it. Proof is that after installing Lion and putting the Domain file in the above named folder, iWeb recognized the Domain file and showed me my 2 web sites.
So i guess the problem doesn't come from here. It must be something different...

  • IWeb won't save properly - permissions issues

I moved the domain file to another user account on my laptop and then changed the permissions on the file to enable me to carry on working on the file under the new user account - however I've just read these posts that I should have changed the permissions IN THE ORIGINAL USER ACCOUNT BEFORE i moved the file. This could explain why it doesn't seem to be saving now. I make changes and publish, but the new changes don't publish and when I reopen the file in iWeb inone of the recent changes have been saved, despite me clicking FILE > SAVE, before closing iWeb down.
Oh dear, can I put this right? or do I have to start all over again creating the entire site in my new user account.

  • IWeb won't save my domain

I recently had my computer reformatted from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion 10.8.2.  I backed up via Time Machine and now want to bring the two sites I was working on in iWeb back so I can continue working on them.
After adding Domain.sites2 page to the hidden user/library/AppSupport/iWeb folder I opened it up in iWeb.  All appeared to be fine until I went to save it.  It read "iWeb is unable to save this domain".
    I've tried this:
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home()/Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.
But neither of those soloutions worked for me.  I also changed the permissions, but that didn't work either.  I've searched online and nothing I've come across seems to help.  What else is there?  I'm sure I'm missing something that is simple...I just don't know what it is.
    Any help would be great.
    Thank you.

Holy crud!!  I solved the problem. After 24 hours of working on it.  Here's the deal just in case others ask.
I literally tried everything everyone was telling me...nothing worked.  I sent it to a friend of mine (running, as I am, the latest version of ML and iWeb) via Dropbox.  I had to, of course, zip the file in order for him to be able to get it.  He opened in up, put it in the App Support / iWeb folder and opened it up on iWeb.  He hit File / Save and it worked!!!
So I had him send it back to me the same way...it works fine now.  Not sure how or why.  Again, I was able to open the file and make changes, it just wouldn't allow me to save the changes.  Something about the ziping of the file (I'm assming that's what it was) made whatever the problem was go away.
You guys probably understand this much more than I do, but I figured I would tell you what my solution was just incase you run into it again.
    Thank you for your help.

  • IWeb won't save

I created two new blog entries and published them yesterday. Now I want to add pictures and text to those entries. I did so, and keep getting the message "iWeb can not be saved" I keep trying and ultimately it crashes.

  • Updated to Mountain Lion, Macbook Pro Won't save any app preferences

My wife has a 2009 Macbook Pro. We recently upgraded it to Moutain Lion, and now we are having quite a few issues. Additionally, we upgraded to MS Office 2011 from 2008.  Anytime we open most applications, no preferences have saved, and it goes through the process of opening the application for the first time. For example, the only way to open a word document (previously created in 2008) is to open Word 2011, go through the registration process where it tells us the product is already registered, then it opens a blank document. Once the blank document is open, you can click on the saved document again, then it will open. If you close the application, you have to go through this process all over again. This same thing happens for all products in the MS suite.
Additionally, firefox will not work at all. whenever I click on it, the icon just pops up and down and nothing happens. Their troubleshooting is telling us to create a user profile (which I have) under he application support folder, but the folder is gone after the update. Additionally, deleting and re-installing the application has not solved the problem. Additionally, Safari won't save any preferences.
Also, she is the only user account on the computer.
    Any help would be great!

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

If you just got your new MBP you have phone support from Apple (which is quite good) call them.  800-692-7753 tell the automated answerer "mail technical support" you'll have human quite quickly.  Hope this helps.

  • Facetime won't work after Lion install... No mic from isight

After installing Lion on my 2010 mac mini, Facetime won't recognize my firewire isight mic. Video comes in from the isight, but it doesn't find it as an audio input choice. System preferences recognizes it and hears your voice, but not Facetime. You can Facetime with someone but they won't hear you. Skype still works fine on Lion using the same isight (audio &video).... tried resetting PRAM but still nothing...  C'mon Apple.. Lion and Facetime need a fix here!!  I've read others are experiencing same issue!!

In Lion, neither the previous version of FaceTime Version 1.1 (258) from OS X 10.7.1 nor the current Version 1.1.1 (262) from OS X 10.7.2 can use external iSight's Firewire mic.
The firewire iSight camera works with Lion's FaceTime, but the iSight's Firewire mic is not available for selection in FaceTime > Video. One alternative is to use another video chat app such as iChat or Skype.  Both iChat and Skype can use external iSight's mic in Lion (and earlier Mac OS versions.)

  • TS3147 Lion - Canon all in one won't save scans

I recently upgrded to Lion but my Can MP600 all-in-one cannot now save a scan.
I have downloaded the latest drivers, deleted and reinstalled the device but it won't save a scan.
    Any suggestions?
    Richard

I normally click a desk top icon called MP Navigator 3 and then click 'One Click' and 'Save as PDF File'. The software then shows calibration, follwed by Screening and finally 1 document copied.
But when I press Exit (which used to comple the process allowing me to save the scan to my iMac) I get the following - Unable to save file. The system cannot find the path selected.
Not sure what to do now - any further thoughts would be helpful.
    Thanks, Richard

  • Does anyone know if versions and auto save work with microsoft office 08 in Lion? thanks

does anyone know if version and auto save work on office 08 with lion?

    No, they don't.
Autosave and Versions are specific technologies that the developer must enable in their programs. It is not handled purely by the OS.
I don't know how difficult it would be to implement, but I doubt they would update 2008 to use them. Maybe 2011.

  • Final cut 5 won't work on lion

There have been several issues regarding the old Final Cut 5.1 not working on Lion.  Well, here is the solution.  Don't let anyone tell you that your editing software is just "too outdated".  I feel like once you purchase a product.....if you keep the original in good working condition, you should always be allowed to install it on your computer.  Anyways, heres how you do it.
Get a snow leopard installation disk.  Click on "Custom Installation" - Go through all the "continue" buttons until you reach the screen where it asks you what to install.  Check only the ROSETTA box and install.
Once you have done this, you can simply install your 5.1 version of final cut pro.  Of course, there is no support or upgrades available any longer to fix the bugs, so your compressor probably won't work correctly...but it beats paying $1,000.00 for new software (used final cut 7).  And, of course Final Cut X doesn't even count (yet).
Hope this helps those people that were having this problem.

I have a copy of FCS 2 that I should sell.
When I bought the upgrade to FCS 3, they didn't give me an upgrade. They gave a me a full version. (I didn't notice this for a few months. $399 (I think) what a deal!)

  • Intuit's Quicken won't work with Lion.  Installed and am using Quicken Essentials but it's not as convenient.

Intuit's Quicken won't work with Lion.  Installed and am using Quicken Essentials but it's not as convenient.

this has been an issue with Quicken for a long time! Quicken was initially a Mac only application and then they got greedy! i beta-tested Quicken for Intuit for years and when they announced they were not going to support it any more the screaming was loud but not heard!
Quicken Essentials is a crime! i wasn't even asked to beta-test it; probably because they would have gotten an earful!!! it is not essential; it is stupid.... AND, of course, their online version was a disaster. i use Quickbooks Online for business and it works like a charm; i mean it even downloads ignominious PayPal transactions now!
i am also stupid for not really checking out if it would work with Lion - ALL of my financials are on it. I am going to have to do what @cwiens suggested above and either pull out an old Macbook I have or my well stored original Cube in its original box! thank the fates for the double backup i've always done with Quicken - Time Machine & its own key drive!
btw, this is an old Microsoft trick - not having older versions of apps work on OS updates so they force you to buy the new versions.

  • I have applications which won't work now lion 10.7 is installed do I have to re-install them all?

I have just installed li0n 10.7 on my computer and some other applications now won't work.  Do I need to re-install these ?

    Depends on what they are.
If they are old, PowerPC based programs, they won't work under Lion. If they are Universal applications, then reinstalling might work. However, you should check with the developer to see if there are any updates.

  • Will iWeb 06 work with Lion?

Like the title states, Will the original iWeb still work with Lion? I can't stand the new versions and the old iweb always works perfect for me. Any ideas?

If you want to continue to use iWeb, then when Lion is released, I would use the latest version which is iWeb 09 that was part of either iLife 09 or iLife 11.
iWeb 09 has been tested and has been found to work with Lion.
