IWeb wont update RSS feed

Im currently working on my website at www.ottoferdinand.com
I have already published it and have 5 blog entry on the web. As you can see i put the rss feed link in front of my web, but the feed just wont update. It will only show the first 3 blog entry. How can I fix it? To make the rss feed updated properly each time I add new blog entry??
Thanks.

The method for transferring iTunes to another feed is described here:
http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move
However as this involves adding a tag to the feed you cannot do it in iWeb itself. You could do it this way:
Download your feed and open it in TextEdit in PLAIN TEXT MODE, not Rich Text which is often the default.
Add the tag as described in my page.
Re-upload the feed using an FTP program. Do not subsequently make any amendments in iWeb for two weeks.
Alternatively email Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to move it (give them the URL of your Store page and both feed URLs) - there's no guarantee they will but they have done for some people.

  • Password to update RSS feed

    Hi,
Since a few months I've been getting this little pop-up window asking for a name and password to update RSS feeds (see below). This window did not appear before and the problem is that (1) it does not accept my .mac password and (2) I don't know which other password/username it might be asking for.
I am using Safari on an Intel iMac.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

    HI,
I really would feel very unsafe giving the password to my iMac on Twitter.com!!
They mean your Twitter username and password, not your administrator account on your iMac. Have you signed up for a Twitter account in the past???
To update the RSS feed "http:/twitter.com/statuses/friends_timeline.rss", you need to log in to the area "Twitter API" on twitter.com. Your password will be sent in clear text.
When you type in the username and login and see: Remember this password in my keychain.
That's right. Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) stores all your usernames and passwords for you.

  • Error updating RSS feed, email and calendar

About 2 weeks ago my Droid X running Gingerbread, stopped updating RSS feeds, email and calendar but other apps/widgets seem to work fine.
If I go in to the RSS feed and try to subscribe to a new feed I get the following error message, "Can't add news subscription now. Try again later."
Also noticed that Check for update gives "Check for update is not available at this time. Try again later."
My thought was to try to manually reinstall Gingerbread.  Followed instructions found on other forum sites but when trying to reload GB from recovery I get the following error:

I am trying to avoid a factory reset of the phone but would appreciate any help/suggestions that anyone has.

    Hello tjoreilly,
Thanks for providing your experience on refreshing the RSS feeds on your device. Based on the information you have given and what Cody21 previously stated, I recommend as factory reset also. Before doing a reset, I suggest verifying that your contacts are saved on Gmail and/or backup assistant and calendars are backed up on your Gmail account. This is  to ensure that your personal info can easily be restored after the factory reset. Any digital media, like pictures and videos, will be saved on your memory card & won't be erased unless you wish to do so.
Once the reset is done, try to access and update your RSS feed to your preference to confirm that the issue is resolved. If so, please respond to this posting so other can benefit from your experience. If not, then feel free to elaborate on your experience after the reset so we can further assist.
    Thank you...

  • IWeb, Podcasts, and RSS feeds

    http://web.mac.com/realityramble
So I feel like I made a grave error in choosing iWeb to create and .mac to host my podcast. After creating the podcast page in iWeb and publishing it to .mac and the iTunes Music Store, I noticed that the podcast didn't have artwork when you find it in ITMS like it should have. I emailed ITMS and they replied that I have to manually update my RSS feed. No problem, except...
I've no idea how to do this! I know what to change and all that to add the artwork that should be there as well as the ITMS search keywords, but I have no idea where to find my RSS feed on my computer so that I can update it. ITMS email help told me to do a spotlight search on my computer but I can't find it anywhere.
iWeb doesn't tell you where the website is saved on your computer and I can't find it for the life of me.
Does anyone know how I can manually update my RSS feed? Again, I've found the page that tells me how I'm supposed to change the feed and I know what to do once I find it, but I can't find the bugger!
This seems ridiculous, and creating your site on iWeb is supposed to be the easy and fool-proof method, but it's really not and I'm really frustrated.

    Hi Keith
You need to look in your iDisk (if you don't have it mounted go to System Prefs > .Mac > iDisk, and wait till it's synchronized).
Your RSS.xml file will be in a subfolder of your Web folder - open it in TextEdit, make your changes and Save.

  • IWeb 08 and RSS feeds on godaddy

Hello friends - I am setting up a website to be hosted on godaddy. I had no problems uploading the site using easyiwebpublisher. However, I want to use the blog function. I set up the blob on iweb and I can read them on the site, but when I click the "subscribe to RSS" link on my page it says:
"The page you tried to access does not exist on this server. This page may not exist due to the following reasons:
You are the owner of this web site and you have not uploaded (or incorrectly uploaded) your web site. For information on uploading your web site using FTP client software or web design software, click here for FTP Upload Information.
The URL that you have entered in your browser is incorrect. Please re-enter the URL and try again.
The Link that you clicked on incorrectly points to this page. Please contact the owner of this web site to inform them of this situation."
Any help on how to get the RSS feed to work w/o mobileme?
I understand it may not work without MobileME but I wanted to know if anyone has a workaround.
    One more bit of data:
When I publish to folder the pop-up has me enter the URL for my site because "iWeb uses the URL to provide an RSS feed for your blog."
Does that mean I put http://www.weirdfantasy.com/ or should I put the URL for my RSS feed page? http://www.weirdfantasy.com/WeirdFantasy/News/rss.xml
I put http://www.weirdfantasy.com/ and I get the error message.
    Jawko -out...

If I upload the index.html that isn't in the sitefolder, won't it just overwrite the one in the sitefolder?
No. You can't overwrite something inside a folder with something you put outside the folder. It is normal for there to be an index.html in both places in an iWeb site.
I just did that using the godaddy FTP uploader and now I can't get to my homepage. Says it can't be found.
I recommend that you never use the uploader provided by a host, as they often result in things not being uploaded correctly. Instead use a real ftp app.

  • Alternate ways to update RSS Feed URL in iTunes Store

    Hey all,
Ok, so I am having issues with updating my iTunes Store RSS URL. Here's the storyin a nutshell. If any of you have experience with this i would really appreciate some help, because I have been stuck for week now.
I started my podcast using Podbean.com as a host, and when I first submitted my podcast URL to th iTunes Store, I used the RSS URL that podbean gave me which was http://unfilteredandrew.podbean.com/feed/. A few weeks later, I decided to move my host to SquareSpace, therefore I have a new RSS URL for the podcast now. I understand the directions frovided by Apple on how to change the URL by inserting the <itunes:new-feed-url> tags into the XML file. This is where the problem lies. Podbean.com is not able to instert this tag into my the XML file (its a long story, I have been dealing with thier incompitent customer service for weeks now). Let's assume for now that this method is not optional.
SO my question to you guys is - is there another way to update the RSS URL feed? Currently the iTunes Store see's  http://unfilteredandrew.podbean.com/feed/as my RSS feed, but I want it to see the NEW one which is: http://andrewunfiltered.squarespace.com/podcast?format=rss
    Please help!!
    Kellen

Ignore the 301 redirect - this is really intended for other rss readers than iTunes.
If you are creating a feed somehow and submitting that to Feedburner, which then passes it on to iTunes, and if you can add the tag to that original feed it will also appear in the Feedburner feed and the redirect will take place.
If you are creating the feed only in Feedburner by entering details, there you cannot directly edit the feed - I don't know whether Feedburner provides a way of doing this: most online podcast creation services don't.
If that's the case then you will have to abaondon the old feed. You should attempt to get the old podcast removed from the Store - instructions here (though there have been a number of reports that iTunes Store staff are simply not bothering to carry out this process) - and submit your new feed as an entirely new podcast. You will probably need to make a small change in the title, as a bug in the Store software may tell you that the podcast has already been submitted: and of course you will lose any subscribers or comments.

  • Web Service call to update RSS feed

Is there any webservice method to force an iTunesU RSS feed update?

Yes, that is the way we are currently doing it now.
Since we are storing content locally, our faculty members can just "drag and drop" their mp3 files into the appropriate directories on a server. We are trying to eliminate the step of having a faculty member touch the feed.
Hopefully this feature will be added soon.
    Thanks

  • ITunes not updating RSS feed.

I am hoping someone will be able to help me figure this out:
After a hiatus of several months, I have started releasing new podcast episodes. The last episode in the iTunes store directory was Nov. 14, 2012.
In the last week I have released 2 new episodes, but since the content was time sensitive I backdated them. I changed the Nov. 14 podcast to July 20 and then added a September 15 and a February 22, 2013 episode.
The changes show up through iTunes software, but not in the iTunes store. It still shows the last episode as being Nov. 14, 2012. It has been 4 going on 5 days without any changes.
Also, iTunes is not displaying my podcast logo, even though I have uploaded a 1400 X 1400 jpeg.
I have checked and the podcast feed validates without a problem.
I am at a loss as to what to look for or try next. If anyone has any ideas I would be very appreciative for any advice.

    Hi Roger,
I contacted Apple and received this confusing reply (cut and paste below). It is confusing on 2 counts; 1) My feed validates just fine and 2) within minutes of receiving it, iTunes updated my feed to show 2 missing episodes.
Still, the artwork is not showing and I posted another (backdated) episode over a week ago and it still hasn't shown up in the store yet either.
I am wondering if I should resubmit my feed as the Apple support email suggests but do not want to loose my current subscribers.
    Any thoughts?
This is the email I received from Apple:
    Dear Malcolm,
Welcome to iTunes Store Customer Support. My name is Abdul and I will be happy to assist you.
I'm sorry to hear that you have been unable to get your podcast listed on the iTunes Store. Addressing your concern is important to me.
Malcolm, it appears that your podcast's RSS feed is not validating. To help find the problem, you may want to use a feed validator, such as this one:
    http://www.feedvalidator.org
You can get help with many specific issues, learn how to test a feed, and view a sample feed in the iTunes Making a Podcast page:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html
If you can successfully subscribe to your podcast and listen to each of the episodes, try resubmitting the feed to the iTunes Store. If you receive a message that the feed has already been submitted, the iTunes Store is detecting that the podcast is a duplicate. Please follow these steps to resubmit the podcast:
    1) Change the title and link fields of your RSS feed to something other than what they are now.
    2) Resubmit the podcast feed via iTunes.
    3) Once you have successfully submitted the podcast, you can change the title and link fields back to what they were.
If you're still having trouble, consider consulting the Apple Discussions forums, which have a wealth of information about specific issues. Click Producing Podcasts in the Pro Digital Production area of this page: http://discussions.apple.com
I hope the above information will help you.
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to assist you.
    Have a nice day!
    Sincerely,
    Abdul

  • Mail wont show RSS feeds?

Mail on my laptop will show my RSS feeds fine but on my iMac it will not; is this a known issue that someone has a resolution for?
I dont even have the little "RSS" drop down on my iMac though my prefs clearly show that I have mail selected as my RSS reader.
    Thanks

Well, I fixed it. Luckily I just have my .Mac IMAP email account with aliases so I just deleted my ~/Library/Mail, ~Library/Mail Downloads and ~/Library/Preferences/Mail Prefs and on the next launch of Mail it grabbed all my mail from the .Mac server. I had to recreate my rules but I have my RSS feeds back once again. I hope the updates to Mail in 10.5.3 address this issue as it has happened on two machines for me now.

  • Mail has completely stopped updating RSS feeds

I have numerous RSS feeds subscribed to in Mail, and they have all stopped updating (for several days now).
Trying to manually tell them to update does nothing. Also, if I try and add new feeds, it doesn't even grab the articles in the new feeds.
Anyone know how to reset this?

Unfortunately I don't have a great answer for you.
Once I found the folder inside the root level Library/Syndication. Another time I found it inside Users/Library/Syndication. When I had the problem, I trashed this folder, then relaunched Mail.
I still have the problem once in a while, and either Syndication folder has not been re-created. When it happens, I quit and relaunch Mail, and it seems to clear it up.
It's really a pain in the neck. I don't know what's causing it. I don't know what else to suggest if you've already trashed both/either Syndication folders and then quit and restarted Mail.

  • RSS Feeds are not updating in Mail

For a few weeks now my RSS feeds in Mail have not been updating at all.  The settings for checking and updating RSS feeds have not been changed.
Is this a mail issue or an ISP issue?

I know this thread is almost as old as I am but I'm speaking to the folks who may encounter this question through a web search.
Are you running network filtering software such as Little Snitch? That should be the first thing to check. The settings on the software (whatever it is you're using) could be blocking the feeds.
I use Little Snitch and if I have "Silent Mode" turned on I don't receive any RSS feeds. There may also be a connection here to any anti-virus software you have installed. An aggressive setting in anti-virus software might be preventing RSS feeds from updating.
    Hope this helps.

  • RSS Feeds Do Not Update

I'm not certain when this happened, exactly, but Safari no longer updates the RSS news feeds to which I'm subscribed and no longers puts in parentheses the number of new articles. This is bookmark bar-wide. Yes, I've checked to make certain the RSS Preference is set to do so (I haven't changed it). I even deleted a few of the Folders and recreated them with the RSS News subscriptions. No joy. I'm running Safari 2.0.3 (417.8) on a G4 Powerbook with 1GB of RAM running OS 10.4.4. The only software I've installed/changed has been the upgrade to iLife 06 and iWork 06. I'm competely stumped on this one.

    Timothy,
I recently posted some links which were apparently helpful for another poster:
    This fix worked for :nathan:
    Guy Parrot tried this.
Enter "Updating RSS Feeds" into the Search Discussions" field on this page for more suggestions.
I can usually cure the problem by changing the All/Today/Last Seven Days/This Month/Last Month selection in "Recent Articles."

  • Rss feed won't publish all my blog posts, help please!

I posted my blog in iWeb using the rss feed widget. I have about 10 blog posts on my blog, but only about 5 show up in the feed. I have changed the size of the page, and the amount of articles in the feed inspector to 20. Is this a problem with the cache? If it is I will delete it. Please help!

    Ok...
You are running 10.6.2 according to your profile. Download and install the v10.6.3 Combo Update
    Then repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
