Iwlagn ap mode possible?

Hello,
I am currently trying to set my intel 5100 card in ap mode on arch 64 to create a wifi access point, however the results I've had on google seem to indicate that iwlagn does not support ap mode. Can anyone confirm this before I try too much to get it it working?

[SOLVED] Disabling N mode: possible? (iwl4965)

Hey guys, I have an Intel 4965 802.11abgn wireless card.
I have been getting download speeds significantly lower than what I expect and what I get with Windows Vista on the same machine.
For example, with the easylist.com Arch mirror I usually get about around 1mbps on other computers. With this one, I get between 60-200kbps.
This happened in Vista as well, but I fixed the problem by disabling N mode in a device manager. I guess our router doesn't support it. So, my question is this: is there a way for me to disable N mode under Linux? It'd be great to get my regular download speeds back. Thanks!

$ modprobe -r iwlagn
$ modprobe iwlagn 11n_disable=1
Now I get up to nearly 2mbps from easynews, and download speeds everywhere else are soaring too. Thanks a million for the help, everyone!

Is forcing Http tunneling mode possible ?

in order to make some tests between 2 PC on the same intranet, I would like to know if it's possible to force RMI to use http tunneling, and to choose the mode : http-to-port or http-to-cgi ?
If possible, please tell me how.

RMI depends on custom socket factories (sun.rmi.transport.proxy.RMIHttpToPortSocketFactory, sun.rmi.transport.proxy.RMIHttpToCGISocketFactory) for carrying out the HTTP tunneling of RMI request if normal way of establishing a connection with the remote object fails. If no particular RMI socket factory is set in RMI application, RMI runtime chooses the RMIMasterSocketFactory() for creating client and server sockets. This socket factory maintains a list of socket factories which should be tried in order in establishing a successful connection with the remote object. This list includes RMIDirectSocketFacotry and HTTP tunneling socket factories mentioned above if http.proxyHost proerty is set.
You can force HTTP tunneling by explicitly setting default socket factory (RMISocketFactory.setSocketFactory(...)) to sun.rmi.transport.proxy.RMIHttpToPortSocketFactory in the client application. If this fails you can try setting default socket factory to RMIHttpToCGISocketFactory. It may not be possible trying these two options in the same instance of the program, because setSocketFactory() does not allow you to change the already defined default factory to the new one. This may not be elegant solution.

Is a work 'mode' possible

Hi,
I wanted to know if it was possible to set up a work 'mode' or something similar that I can switch my phone to while I'm at work,
The reason is to save using mobile data
When at work I have things like Outlook, facebook and twitter open on my computer and so don't need them on my phone, but want them on the way home, when I leave my computer
Is there anyway apart from going into the mobile settings and turning off the use data buttons for the individual settings for the apps, to set up a work 'mode' or 'profile' so that they don't eat data while I'm at work - simply?

Do you need cellular data on at all while at work? If not, you could go to Settings > Cellular and turn Cellular Data to Off. Not as easy as what you are looking for but easier than turning off one app at a time -- if you don't need it on for something.

Clamshell mode & possible battery issues

Hello everyone!
I just started using my MacBook Air in closed «Clamshell» mode. I bought my MacBook in October and since I got it I read all the advice on how to ameliorate battery performance. I also read that keeping the computer plugged in all the time could damage the battery. As I also noticed, Clamshell mode won't work unless the computer is plugged in continuously (once, I took off the cable and my ext monitor stopped).
So my question lies to these facts; my workflow obliges me to use Clamshell for the most percent of the time (I type and can't use the laptop's keyboard all the time); laptop is needed to be on charge all time; won't this ruin my battery's life?

Apple strongly recommends that you not use the computer plugged in all the time, true. But if you just make sure to use it on battery a couple times a month you'll be okay. Long ago I set a calendar event for one Friday evening a month. It reminds me I need to use the computer on battery during the weekend. My 2009 MBA is now 6 years old with its original battery! which is still getting just above 80% of the full charge it did when it was new. It has just slightly more than 400 cycles which clearly shows that it was used more on power than battery.

Is booting into update mode possible?

Okay...here's the deal. Installed "enhanced kernel (titan) for power users" from my install list in application manager, as part of trying to get the Mobile Hotspot app to work. I was advised to do so by some very knowledgeable N900 users on this forum. Well...long story short(er)...loading the kernel did not make mobile hotspot work, so I decided to uninstall and revert back to the factory kernel. I did so using the "uninstall" app that came with the titan kernel....the screen went blank about half way through the process,...gave me a message that "kernel couldn't be removed". Thereafter, upon rebooting the phone, the N900 just sits there and reboots, reboots, reboots now...never completing a reboot before rebooting again. Sever has informed me that someone might be able to tell me how to reboot into update mode instead of Maemo for flashing....perhaps being able to just flash the kernel instead of the whole OS,...which I'll do if necessary. Anyone want to take this one on? Sure appreciate the assistance ! Thanks in advance.

ITunes opens only in safe mode; does not open at all in regular mode (possible solutions that I found to similar problems don't seem to apply)

I haven't been able to open iTunes normally since june when I did the automatic upgrade. I have tried resetting it to an earlier version with no results and have tried everything i could find on apple support in similar problems and nothing seems to be working. When I open my task manager it does show iTunes in the process tab but it doesn't open. When I check my iphone it says that I am not connected with iTunes.
I don't know what to do anymore and I am getting frustrated to the point of changing phones to avoid this problem

No error messages are given. It will either freeze while saying "Accessing iTunes Store," or without saying anything at all.

I Was Updateing, And then my phone Froze on a white Screen

The only way to turn it off, is to remove the battery, it charges
But thats about it, it can be detected by my computers usb, but when i try to software update it

When the PO is in Approvers list You will not be able to change it,But approver will be able to change it.
or PO need to be rejected from Approver.

MacBook target display mode

I have a mid-2009 white unibody MacBook, and a lot of the labs at my school are using 21 inch iMacs from late 2010 to mid 2011. I would like to take advantage of these larger screens that I sit in front of while also having all of my stuff accessible. Is target disk mode possible via mini displayport between these two machines?

Only the new 27" iMacs support Target Display Mode.

RSA3 no possible

My using standard 2LIS extractor to load the PO Item data into BW.
I have peformed the Setup Table, and loaded the data into BW.
Created the InfoPack to pull in Delta, everything seem to be OK.
Now, for some reason, I need to test and see some PO Item data.
So I go the RSA3 to pull the PO, but it say no record. Why?
Is it because of 2LIS extractor that I can pull and test the extractor in RSA3?
I have no problem with other extractor. Then how can I test and see the data in RSA3 for the 2LIS extractor. please advice.

Can you share with me the correct process for 2LIS?
--> Yes, After filling setup tables you can see/test data in RSA with FULL extraction mode, not with delta.
With 'Delta' mode possible, if data available in Delta Queue(RSA7).
7) If for some reason, can I delete and perform setup table again?
--> If setup tables empty, you can see any data at RSA3 while extracting in FULL mode, as datasouce pulls data from Setup tables in full mode.
8) can I perform full-load again of this setup table? Any duplication?
--> It depends. If you are loading to CUBE(means in addition), chances of duplication if same data loaded again.
9) then can I perform init-delta?
--> After Full load, initialize WITH OUT data transfer and continue deltas.

Gnome crash when on battery

Hi!
I have a weird problem on my laptop.
When it's plugged on AC, everything is ok, but when it is on battery, Gnome3 crash quickly into "Oops screen".
My laptop is a core2duo with wifi iwlagn, laptop-mode tool activated when unplugged, systemd, and all packages up to date.
Any idea?

My video card driver is R600. I have set the power on "mid" by a rule in rc.local. It's strange because before, I never had any problem with power managment.

Left hand side of monitor dims on 2011 /intel based iMac-any suggestions? Called apple support. Restarted-didn't help. Unplugged my second monitor from the thunderbolt port-didn't help. Unplugged center cord in the middle on the back of the monitor-waited 15 seconds, restarted, held down option-command-p-r and this didn't help. Apple support thought that it was most likely a video card/hardware issue, but would like to hear of any other trouble shooting suggestions.

Not a hardware issue, since it shows up in a screenshot. Please boot in safe mode, launch Safari, and test. Same problem?
Some things won't work in safe mode, possibly including wireless networking.
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode.)
