IWork 08 online order can't be downloaded

I purchased online iWork 08, and paid for it. I got an email back that gave me an "activation key" number. When I call up Pages, the iWork window comes up and asks for a serial number. I only got the activation code, and not a serial number. The activation code does not work in the box. Did I not get the serial number email? Here is what the email said "_How do I access my software?_
_Run Software Update to ensure the latest version of your software is installed on your computer. In the application, go to Preferences and enter the activation key exactly as it appears in this email. Please note that no package will be shipped to you, and you can begin using your software right away."_
What am I missing? Without this I have no access to Pages, Numbers or Keynote.

I find this rather puzzling; where did you purchase it from? The current version, and the only one available from the Apple Store, is iWork '09. As far as I can tell, that's no longer available as a download. The 30 day trial version doesn't appear to be offered now.

Do you have the purchased serial number? What computer operating system?
If you purchased from Adobe direct, you can get download installation files from "My Orders" at the Adobe web site under your Adobe ID and Password (http://www.adobe.com).
Alternatively, you can use the following Adobe document with links to the downloads....

To avoid Access Denied message, follow carefully the web site's "Note: Very Important Instructions".
Just in case note...make sure installation files are for your computer operating system 32 vs 64 bit. Two files (.exe and .7z)

Once you get your S/N and download the software, back them up to a CD or backup HD. Not doing that is like purchasing a CD, installing software, and tossing the CD in the trash.

Did you delete the files from your Remote server?
Deleting the local site folder or the site definition in DW will have no effect on your remote site.
When I go to your URL, I see the index.html page with 16 code errors and this background image:

So the site is still online until you delete those files from your server.

This is a confusing complaint...and kind of disturbing. Perhaps you could answer a few questions:
1. How much space is left on your HD? If there weren't any available space left, it would be very difficult to boot your applications.
2. Do you back up at all? Given your situation, it might be a good time to start, given the situation. Backup drives are relatively inexpensive these days.
If this problem persists, a visit to your local Apple Store might be a good idea - but until then, please let the community here help.

Once they've been downloaded they can't be downloaded again using a different Apple ID.

Are you trying to reinstall Firefox? If you open up Internet Explorer on your computer, can you get online? If you can't get online there then you likely have some sort of connection issue.
If you Can get online with Internet Explorer, simply go to [http://www.getfirefox.com www.getfirefox.com], and press the Download Now button. Click "Run" then install Firefox on your machine. If you still have troubles after installing Firefox, please let me know and we can fix those.

Hold down the power button until the screen goes black if it's really necessary.
In your case, you can force quit.
When an app won't quit as it should, click Force Quit from your Apple  drop down menu or press Option + Command + Esc.
Select the app then click Force Quit.
That way it's not necessary to shut down your Mac.

Can I cancel my online order and buy my MacBook at a store?

Hi. I recently ordered a MacBook with 4GB of RAM online. I have some free time tomorrow and would rather cancel the online order (which has not yet shipped) and go to the Apple store 45mins from me and buy it there. I have some questions:
1. Can you buy the 4GB RAM MacBook in the store, or is it online only?
2. Can I use the financing card (Baraclay, I think?) to purchase the MacBook in person even if I do not have a physical copy? If so, how?
3. How long will it take to erase the credit charge on the financing card if I do cancel my order?

I'd much prefer to have correct answers in threads so I decided to do some detective work for you. I decided to make two phone calls this morning, one to the "manager on the floor" at an Apple Retail Store and the other to the Apple Online Store Sales & Support group. Both people I spoke with were aware of my intentions on the phone call and that I would be quoting them in this thread.
If I buy a computer online, can I return/exchange it at the store?
It depends. If the machine is a standard configuration (has a part number that starts with MBxxx/A) and is not damaged, then yes we can accept it as a return/exchange in store. If it has a customer configuration (has a part number that stars with Zxxx) then no, we are unable to offer an exchange/refund at the store for that unit. If it is DOA we can coordinate a service/replacement with AppleCare.
Can I upgraded to 4GB of RAM in-store?
Absolutely, we stock RAM specifically for this upgrade and charge the same price as online. You're responsible to buy the computer and the RAM upgrade first and then we will install it for you.
Can I use the Barclay's card, even if I don't have it my possession?
Unfortunately not, we must have the physical card in order to verify the legitimacy of the transaction.

Absolutely not, you have 14-days to return/exchange the product if you're not satisfied. Best part, we don't charge a restocking fee anymore.

We bill the card when the unit ships. However, the order must be cancelled prior to its status being changed into "prepared for shipment" as this means we've already allocated the part for shipment and at which point it cannot be cancelled.
Hopefully that clears things up. I figured not much had changed since I use to work for Apple, but rather than being smug about it I wanted to hear it "from the staff at the Apple Store." As with anything you read on the Internet, take it for what it's worth.

I recently placed an online order for an Iphone 6 plus and new service. The phone has not yet shipped and I would like to cancel the whole order. The customer service rep over the phone told me I had to let it ship and then refuse the delivery... That just doesn't sound right to me and I do not want to be billed for this, as I'm assuming I will be charged as soon as it ships.
