IWork '09 crashes opening in Lion

Hello. I have Lion installed (10.7.2). I purchased the iwork package for my MBair and upon install I receive notice that the application has been successfull installed (from my iwork intall dvd). However, when I attempt to open any of the apps in iwork I receive error messages "Pages cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with developer to make sure pages works with this version of Mac OSX. You may need to reinstalll the application"
I have reinstalled three times and each time I receive the same messages when I try to open the app.
I am not understanding. Can you please help?

I have done that, a few days ago, it still doesn't work.
I asked this question in another forum, here's what I posted:
Hi,
I have just upgraded from a decent but creaky iBook G4 Power PC with Tiger to a Macbook Air running Lion. I am still in the transition phase, but I want to start being able to work on my Air, so I copied my iWork '09 from my iBook to Air across my wifi network. I made sure the folder they were in was in Applications folder, titled iWork '09. I have followed the solutions about installing the Lion update from Apple's support, and the Finder preview indicates that the versions of each App are: Pages 4.1, Numbers 2.1, Keynote 5.1.1.
The solution that seems to be working for people is to install the software from the disk again. This is obviously impossible for me because I'm using an Air with no disk drive.
I don't want to have to fork out for the software again, even though it is reasonably inexpensive for the App Store because I have already handed over quite a considerable sum upgrading my computer.
Any help would be welcome. Thanks.
Pages cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure Pages wirks with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X
This report will be sent to Apple automatically.

  • Safari Crashes on Opening after Lion upgrade!

I just upgraded to Lion, and I try to open Safari, but it crashes before it loads my homepage!
I had recently set my default browser to Chrome in Snow Leopard the other day pre-upgrade, could that have something to do with it?

I'm using SL and found the perfect solution. 1) Follow oh_okay 's instructions, 2) download and reinstall Lastpass, 3) Restart Safari 5.1 and all should work fine. With this lastest update to Safari Lastpass functions a bit differently, having it's own tool bar with the option to hide. You have to click on the grey star, which stays grey, when logged in. There may be a tweek for that, which I haven't gotten to yet.

I've actually just found a solution.
As it turns out, LastPass was causing my crashes, too.
I had to find my SIMBL folder (~Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/LastPass.bundle) and remove the LastPass plugin.
After that, all was well. Not sure if I need to reinstall LastPass now or just pay for (what I've heard is the far superior) 1Password.

I'm having this issue as well only with a little different twist I guess. I'm transferring the iWorks applications from my Macbook Pro 3,1 with Lion to a new MBP 10,1 running Mountain Lion. I transferred the apps over using DropCopy since the older MBP doesn't have AirPlay. Applications show up but crash upon opening. This is the first install so there are no previous plist, versions or such to delete. All three crashed upon opening every time until I just had to have Keynote and purchased again - although Apple agreed to refund that purchase since my previous version quit working. Any ideas since I don't have any previous plist/versions to delete? Thanks in adavnce for any help you can offer.

For Islick, did you update iWork as well? The versions I'm seeing in the Store require Lion at least.
And for Walter, maybe you're on the opposite side of the fence. Your iWork apps need to be updated to work with that cat.

  • Imac Intel freezin  & crashing since installing lion

My late 2009 24" iMac has been freezin and crashing since installing lion. Sometimes red dots appear on the display and sometimes the image breaks up and then freezes. Happens in Safari, Photoshop, Word and other programs. Is it a NVIDIA driver issue? Is there a fix?

I don't know if this helps, but OS X Lion has to re-index all of the files (correct me if I'm wrong), therefore, if you have just installed OS X Lion, you need to give it some time untill it has indexed all the files again (which could take a while if you have loads of files), after this it should return to normal.
    Otherwise, a clean install?

If you have set this phone up, then there would not necessarily be a solution here until you have been verify with the provider that everything is provisioned correctly on their end. Since the 3G comes from your cellular provider, if the settings are correct on the phone, then you should work with the carrier next.

Same behaviour here (WinXP Pro SP3, PSE upgrade path was 3-4-5-6-7-8).
I also see 2 times Camera Raw in about plug-ins as well as in the Open as list. Chosing the first one in results in error message "The operation could not be completed, Class alread exists", using the second one in Open as results in error message (my translation from German to English) "This process could not be executed, because there was a program error" (As a software developer, I love this message ).
I'd be interested in solutions as well.

    Dear Sir or Madam,
Motion 5 keeps Crashing on Mountain Lion.
Have you got any update on this?

This worked for me too, after i installed the wrong cs6 version because it is so unclear what you actually need from the plethera of patches and updates on the linked page.
Why can't adobe do what normal companies do and update the actual cs5.5 extension manager downloader for mountain lion or at the very least put a blurb on the extension manager page about needing a patch. Instead you make me waste my time googling all over the place to find a single link inside of a forum.
Adobe is the most disorganized software company i have ever seen!

  • How to download  iwork for mac os x lion for free?

how to download  iwork for mac os x lion for free?

The iWork apps are not freeware, and they no longer have Trial Versions as they did before the appearance of the Mac App Store. But, they are so inexpensive that they really don't need trial versions, and they are much more sophisticated than what we would expect to get at no cost. Once you purchase an iWork app on one Mac device, you can download additional copies for your other computers at no additional charge.

  • IWork won't open

I just got a brand new MacBook Pro... I've been transferring files from my MacBook to my NEW MacBook Pro. On my old MacBook I was using 08 Pages... recently was using a trial 09 Pages. On my new machine I have the 09 iWork suite. Since transferring my files to my new machine... none of my iWork programs will open. I keep getting an error message that says "The application Pages quit unexpectedly." Prompts me to Relauch or Ignore... no matter how many times I try to Relaunch, it keeps coming up with this error message. I tried reinstalling iWork; getting very frustrated! Please help??!!

    To Clarify...
Yes by accident I did transfer '08 from the previous machine (when I go to open that version it prompts me to use the free trial or buy it).
    2. I purchased my MacBook Pro with '09 already installed for me. When I began having problems with it not openning I tried to "re-install" by loading the disc again.
    3. I reinstalled the '09 version
    4. I am fairly new to the world of Mac and not that computer savvy... so I do not know how to completely uninstall them. I moved one to trash.
    * Initially I tried the Migration via network to move my files over. I had no clue what I was doing. Then I found out how to use shared network to transfer my files that way. All of my files are now on my new computer... but only PDF's will open. Nothing of iWork will open.
Sorry to confuse you. I'm confused myself. Guess I'll have to call Apple on Monday.

Latest build (6.0.12094) works fine with Lion.  V4&5 do not work.  If you upgrade to V6 now you get a free upgrade to V7 (according to the Parallels site).  V7 is coming soon or now if you are a registered V6 user.
