IWork 09 in Yosemite

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone had found a way to get iWork 09 to work in Yosemite. I really would like to keep it. Thanks.
— Gaurav.

In case anyone is wondering, iWork '09 (containing Pages) does indeed work with Yosemite. So happy to say!
Pages '09 always worked great for me. The hot new Pages, no way! I'm an artist and I need need to use my old templates for art greeting cards. I need the greater functionality of Page '09. But it wasn't easy to get Pages '09 to work on Yosemite on my 2011 MBP. First problem was that I had removed it when I updated to the new Pages and no longer had my retail disk. Dumb.  However, I did have a copy of Pages '09 on my Snow Leopard iMac (just about ready to die). So I had a serial number, but no install disk. With some searching I found a site online where I could download a trial version of iWork '09. Great. But it would seem to install, then an error message would say it had a problem & couldn't install. After chasing my tail for awhile, I trashed the new Pages and all other iWork installs, then reinstalled the trial Pages '09. Then downloaded the Pages '09 4.3 manual update which I read was required to make Pages '09 work in Yosemite. As soon as I put in my serial number, everything worked as expected. I could open my old templates for art greeting cards. I could immediately access everything I needed.

  • IWork with Yosemite on iMac

    hi:
I upgraded to yosemite on my mid 2011 iMac...
Does anyone know if iWork is supposed to be included with this upgrade... because if it is, i don't have it anywhere on my system.
And what should i do to get it?
    Thanks

Yes, but your computer is not a new purchase. If was free if you purchased a new computer or iDevice or if you were upgrading OS X to Mavericks or if you had the immediately previous version installed. It is not included as free with downloading Yosemite or iOS 8. At least Apple has not made such an announcement. If you are eligible for any free update you will need to look into the current Up-To-Date program.
The iWork apps are free with a new iOS device since 1 SEP 2013. They are free with a new Mac since 1 OCT 2013. They are also free with the upgrade to OS X Mavericks 10.9 if you had the previous version installed when you upgraded.
iWork and iLife for Mac come free with every new Mac purchase. Existing users running Mavericks can update their apps for free from the Mac App Store℠. iWork and iLife for iOS are available for free from the App Store℠ for any new device running iOS 7, and are also available as free updates for existing users. GarageBand for Mac and iOS are free for all OS X Mavericks and iOS 7 users. Additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available for a one-time in-app purchase of $4.99 for each platform.

  • IWork with Yosemite

    Hello,
so i bought my MacBook with Mavericks and had iWork for free but never installed it because i never needed it. Now there is the time where I need it and i thought I could install it, but it isn't for free anymore with Yosemite.
So i wanted to ask if there is any possibility to get it free or do I have to purchase it?
    Thanks for the answers, greetings.

  • How do I stop office documents from defaulting to open in iWork?

I don't want my MS Office documents to default to opening in iWork.  Yosemite is forcing this.  How do I turn it off?

    Have you tried this?
Select a Word file via the Finder,
Do a get info, and then
    Select the Open With
And select your app: MS Word
    change all
Use this application  to open all documents like this one.
Repeat for Excel and PPT with appropriate app.

  • Iwork 09 (numbers) keep crashing after installing 9.3 update on Macbook retina and Yosemite os.

I have tried clean install of OS X yosemite, on Macbook pro 12 Retina, Clean Install of iWork 09 from retail DVD. Everything work at this point but, all fonts texts and graphics appear in very low resolution.   As soon as I apply iWork 9.3 update, all appears in high res as it should.  But, now, when i try to print from Numbers, Numbers crashes.   It happens while printing to printer or creating a pdf.
please help.  it is really annoying and my livelihood depends on iWork 09 working.

    According to this:
About the iWork 9.3 Update - Apple Support
the only thing this update adds is support for iWork for  iOS devices - is that why you are wanting to install it?
And, since you installed from a DVD, did you try the stand alone installer here?

  • How can I get the older versions of iWorks ('13 the ones that came with Mavericks) now that I've purchased a new iMac with Yosemite?

It just hit me the other day (when my New Mac was on its way) that it would ship with Yosemite and of course ONLY the newest versions of iWorks. This machine is for a person in our business office and she should not have a different version of Pages and Numbers than everyone else in the company. (we upgrade those apps all together so exchanged files can be opened by everyone). I understand the Migration Assistant will only keep the newer versions when Applications is selected in the process and the App Store will not let me get the older version. This machine must have the older (Mavericks) versions of those applications so I'm considering partitioning and installing Mavericks even though it would bork my support. Is there any other way to install those versions on Yosemite?  Thanks!

Thanks for the response. I understand and we Don't have volume licenses. All the apps we download are from our single school admin account. Would it still be piracy if I copied them from her old machine to her new one (both being company machines)
If not, Is there any way to accomplish what I trying to do with compliance? Purchase the apps from somewhere?

  • IWork '09 won't update under Yosemite

I just updated my Mac Pro from Mountain Lion to Yosemite.  I expected to see the new, Yosemite versions of Pages, Keynote and Numbers appear in the Mac App store under Yosemite, but instead, I see an "Open" button, not a "Download" button, and when I press it, the old, iWork '09 versions open.  Similarly, when I search for "Pages" in the "Featured" page, I get an "Open" button, not a "Download" or even a "Buy" button.
How can I get the new versions?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions Craig
Glad to see you searched & tried most of the things I've suggested to others. I have only seen a couple of users (you being one of them) for whom updating didn't fix the problem. Most of the people complained of having problems opening or saving Office files.
Have you tried opening the apps in another user account? This could narrow down the issue to your user account or a system-wide problem. If they do work in another user account, go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences & delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist & then try starting Pages again. Repeat with the Numbers & Keynote plists.
System-wide issues could be a corrupt or duplicate font. Use Font Book to validate fonts & check for duplicates. Corrupt caches can also be a problem. You can restart in Safe Mode (hold down the shift key until you see the gray Apple screen) & then restart normally. This will clear a number of caches. Using a utility like OnyX (unfortunately not yet for Snow Leopard) to clean caches, logs, etc. can help.

  • Does iWork '09 Numbers launch for anyone under Yosemite?

iWork '09 Numbers fails to launch under Yosemite.  Suspecting it may be Yosemite related.  iWork '08 Numbers launches and runs ok.  No indications of launch failure in Console.  It just doesn't launch.  This is only important to me because older spreadsheets require opening and saving in iWork '09 Numbers before the new Numbers version under Yosemite can open them.

I finally discovered that I can launch Numbers (iWork '09) (version 2.3) by launching the image internal to the Numbers package (MacOS) in Terminal.  I also discovered that KeyNote shares this same problem but not Pages.
In summary, I cannot launch iWork '09 Numbers or KeyNote via the normal Finder Icon launch.
There are no diagnostics posted to Console when I try the Finder launch, the App just never shows itself nor is it in the running applications list.
Disk Utility shows no permissions issues, and repair shows no issues.  Anyone have any ideas?
I cannot find my iWork '09 install disks but I did a Time Machine restore of Numbers from several years ago but that image exhibits the identical problem.
The iWork '08 apps work just fine under Yosemite.
    Thanks in advance!

  • IWork is not working on Yosemite after a fresh install from the disk

    Hi,
I've freshly install yosemite on my computer.
I first reinstalled my computer with original Snow Leopard and then made the upgrade to Yosemite.
After that I used the Migration Assistant to transfert my old applications.
Most of them are now running perfectly but I'm still facing issues with iWork.
It refuses to launch with a message error saying that "Pages" for example is not working with this version of Mac OS and I should make al available update.
There are indeed updates available from the App store but I can't download them because it is not available for my apple ID because someone else bought it or I cancelled the buying ?!
It's strange because I bought it with my Macbook Pro in 2010 and even after a fresh install from the disk, the message is still the same...
Any idea how to unlock these updates?

    Actually this doesn't explain everything.
I finally reinstalled Snow Leopard / iWork 09' and then upgraded to Yosemite and everything is working like a charm.
This issue has something to do with the use of the "Application migration tool" from Mac Os X Yosemite to collect old applications to the new os from another installation...
I solved my issue this way because I don't have very valuable applications that I want to transfert but for other users, this could be a real issue...
Thanks a lot for your answer

  • Yosemite has deleted my iWork v5 Apps

I did a full transfer of my Snow Leopard System to my Yosemite hard drive.
My iWork '09 has transferred but it has deleted all my iWork v5 apps and when I go to the App Store wants to charge me to install the v5.5 apps.
Anyone else have this? If so have you got any resolution?
I am not willing to pay for the Apps just so I can continue to prop them up for users.
    Peter

Thanks for your kind response, Peter.
I am running 4.3 and have even tried reapplying the latest iWorks updates.
I will keep looking for the fix to my problem.  Wish I has an answer to yours...

  • IWork, iLife for OS X Yosemite not updating

    Hello.
I have a new MacBook air 13" that I bought a week ago from an Apple store. It came preinstalled with OS X Mavericks, iWork, iLife and all the other basic apps.
I was able to install OS X Yosemite, but when I tried updating iWork and iLife it says it's not registered with my account and it does not allow me to update. What should I do?
    Info:
    MacBook Air 13" 128 GB
    OS X Yosemite
Startup disk is the normal one, Macintosh HD
    Serial Number: HA HA, no.
Also, I do NOT run any other OS or OS X version on a virtual disk.
    Thanks!

  • Iwork apps do not update after Yosemite

I have a 13 inch 2013 MacBook Air. I got iWork bundled in with the device at purchase. I recently updated to OS X Yosemite and somehow the iWork apps fail to update through the app store. Updating all the other apps works (Xcode, iMovie etc).
While trying to update the iWork apps, it shows waiting for a long time and then exits saying 'An error has occured'.
    Any suggestions?

I have a 2008 Mac Book Pro 15" that I just installed a new solid state 256g hard drive into last night using OS X Yosemite. I just installed iWork 08 from my original disc and now when I try and open a numbers (excel) file that I had created previously its blank except for the email link I created and the response time is very slow for scrolling or right clicking. Is the problem that iWork 08 isn't compatible with Yosemite? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hello
For Numbers '09 to run smoothly under recent OSes, you need to apply the following updater.
    iWork 9.3
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563
    * If your Numbers '09 is not from iWork '09 DVD, the updater above would not work because the updater assumes supporting libraries are at
    /Library/Application Support/iWork '09
which is the case with the DVD version of Numbers '09 whereas the MAS (Mac App Store) version of Numbers '09 contains supporting libraries in its own application bundle.
    Hope this helps,
    H
PS. If you're not using the latest Numbers v3, you may simply delete it from your disk so that it will no longer mess up the files created with older versions of Numbers.
