IWork 09 installation fails

I am unable to install iWork 09 on my computer. It acts like it's going to install, but then it fails for various different reasons.
One message I received was: *The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.* (Good luck ... there isn't anyone to contact at Apple that I was able to find.)
Another message I received was: *The Installer could not install the software. The Installer could not install the software because there was no software found to install.*
I have tried all the "tricks" I found in the forum ... cleaned the disc ... ran a disk check ... did a "run with ..." on the original app rather than the link. Nothing has worked.
I have been able to install other software via DVD ... but only seem to have issues with Apple software (the DVD for the Apple Care also gave me a problem ... I had to call in to get registered).

Are you trying to install from a physical disc or a disc image?

Problrm: the new numbers 3.2.2 won´t work with old 08-documents, and new MB air won´t work properly with numbers 08.  So I bought iWork 09 + tried to install it on my MB air: just the menus-bar shows up, no documents, no templates… Tried to install it as well on the iMac: same result. Funny: Installation on a friends similar iMac(early 2008/OSX 10.7.5) is ok. All updates are done - what´s the mistake?

    thank you  for the response, but I restarted the computer (several times). I installed the "iWork_9.3_Update.dmg" from apple support pages. The App Store only offers the upgrade to Yosemite. This doesn´t help, because numbers 3.2.2 (and in the same way pages 5.2.2) can´t handle my iWork ´08-documents. Running iWork ´09 seems to be the only option.
    Some installation was done: opening numbers 09 shows the menue-bar, the button "about numbers" shows "Numbers ´09  Version 2.3 (554) and the serial number. But I can´t open any documents.

    Yes, gladly. I am trying to install on a 13" MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8.3. I insert the disk into the SuperDrive. The I work '09 window pops up with two icons: one Tim install and one that says "Read before you install iWork." I double-click on the "Install iWork '09" icon, and a window appears that says, "This package will run a program to determine if the software can be installed." I click "continue" and see "Welcome to the iWork '09 installer." I click on "Continue." The "read me" bullet on the left lights up, and I see "Read before you install. . . ." I click "Continue," then see the software license agreement. When I click on "Continue" again, I am asked to agree, and I do. The window then says, "Standard Install on 'Mackintosh HD" and indicates how much space the program will take.
    I click "Install," enter my password, and the installation begins. It goes through a validating phase and begins "writing files." It indicates that installation will take about 30 minutes (although that number fluctuates). After about four minutes it goes to "cleaning up." Then after just a few seconds, the "Summary" bullet on the left lights up and this message appears: "There were errors with the installation. You may want to try installing again." There is a large yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it, and a bold "The installation failed." Below that appears "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
    At that point, a "Close" button is pulsating blue at the bottom of the window.
    Sorry for the tedious detail. Anything revealing there?

    thanks for the prompt response...i appreciate it.  according to the link you listed, that's correct.  the strange thing is that prior to the upgrad to mac os 10.8.4, photoshop CS5 was working just fine and i was able to open my canon raw files with my current camera raw plug-in version 6.7 which adobe has indicated is the last camera raw update they'll be offering for cs 5
    so it's clearly an issue related to the "upgrade" of the os.  seems like every solution creates 6 new problems...further evidence for the notion that if it ain't broke don't fix it!  thanks again.

  • I purchased and downloaded Photoshop Elements 13, but the installer fails to initialise. How do I get it to work?

    I have Photoshop Elements 10 and Premier Elements 10 installed on my PC. Both were installed from discs that I bought a few years ago. I recently purchased the upgrade (by download) for both applications to version 13. In accordance with the (scant) instructions received by email, I downloaded the four files required from the Adobe site. I subsequently ran the .exe files, which in turn created directories on my PC, including set-up.exe files for both applications. When I run the setup files, I get an error message stating that the installer failed to initialise. The error message advised me to download the Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem. That tool does not exist. I then sought assistance from the Abobe support site, initially using the hyperlink suggestions, which were of no use, then using the chat function. The operator kept trying to get me to do something with something called 'Creative Cloud'; which I am not familiar with, and do not use. He then instructed me to download and run a CS5 cleaner tool; however, none of the choices offered by that tool include my issue, or either Photoshop Elements or Premier Elements. I am reluctant to uninstall version 10 of the programs in case I end up losing the lot and therefore wasting even more money than the purchase price for this upgrade.
    All I want to do is upgrade my two applications from version 10 to version 13. I have paid the requisite fee but it clearly does not work. I appear to have totally wasted my money. Can anyone please tell me how to get it to work? I do not want to have anything to do with the so-called ‘Creative Cloud’ as I have no idea what it is, and I do not want to lose what I already have (and have paid for previously).
    I have tried for a few days to access the so-called 24/7 chat assistance but appeared to have been locked out as every time I try to access it, I get a message that the (24/7) chat is closed. Adobe has taken my money for a product that does not work, and also refuse to help me fix it.
    I am very frustrated with a product I bought that does not work, and a 24/7 support service that clearly is not 24/7, and which refuses to assist me. Can anyone PLEASE tell me how to get this to work? Rod.

    What is the current version of Ps (Help->System Info), if you have 13.0.1.2 already applied then you need to re-install Ps to get Ps 13.1.2.
    As 13.1.2 is a subscription patch this would not get applied over 13.0.1.2.
    If this still does not resolves your issue, Kindly mail me installer logs.

    Re-install on top of CS6 had to do that myself when I had perpetual CS6 installed and tried to update to Subscription version. Perpetual CS 6 13.0.1.3 Windows 13.0.6 Mac are different then 13.1.2 subscription version

    My recommendation would be
    - Uninstall PS via Mac HD > Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers (Mac OS X)
    - Create a new user with Admin rights, log out of your current account and into the newly created one

    I've just solved the problem. The problem was, our Listener was not configured correctly.
    I've adjusted the listener.ora, tnsnames.ora to the correct hostname - cause, we had a hostname-switch last month and I had forgotten to adapt the Listener...
