IWork '09 - no update in App Store for me

On the first upon Mavericks installation launch of Pages, Keynote and Numbers (iWork '09) I got the pop-up message that new versions are available. After clicking on Update button the App Store started but showed no updates available. What gives?
I'm reading everywhere that Apple is now allowing free update of legacy iWork and iLife apps for everyone. I had no problem getting free update of iLife apps in App Store, but still no luck with iWork.
Tried every reported so far trick with no success.
Any ideas why it is happening and what to do to get the updates?

I was as frustrated as you are and re-installed iWork few times too before I finally found the fix. Do the following:
1. Make sure you are running final version of Mavericks
2. Remove iWork from your system completely, all of it's traces, find any file with iWork, Pages, Numbers or Keynote in the file name, remove them all to the trash. Deleting some will require admin password. Empty the Trash - Trash may not allow to delete all, so reboot and empty Trash again, until you are sure that there is no trace of iWork in your system.
3. Download iWork '09 demo from Softpedia (or other trusted source) and install it - but don't run it.
4. Download 9.3 update for iWork '09 and install it.
5. Turn off the Spotlight by adding your system volume to the Privacy tab in Spotlight System Preferences. If you have more than 1 internal partition on your Mac then add all volumes to the Spotlight's Privacy tab.
6. Eject and disconnect all external drives.
7. Shut down your Mac and start it again, without any external drives attached.
8. Start App Store, log in and close it without logging out.
9. Go to Spotlight pane in System Preferences and remove system volume from Privacy tab - it will allow Spotlight to re-index your system volume and hopefully once indexing is complete you'll see the updates to iWork apps in the App Store.

How do I remove a secondary Apple ID that is not in use from my MacBook pro? The ID does not belong to me and when I attempt to download updates from App Store with my Apple ID, I am prompted for the password of the secondary Apple ID.

Is this a second hand Mac? If so, you need to erase the Mac and install the version of OS X that shipped installed on the Mac from the factory. Then you set the Mac up as new with your Apple ID.

This happens when you both use the same Apple ID for iMessage.  To fix this you have two choices:
On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID.  Note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores; or
On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at".  Also uncheck the other phone's phone number, if present.

  • HT5362 How do I turn off notifications for Software Updates? 'App Store' doesn't show in the list of notification apps. I want the background checks for updates, just not the notifications.

How do I turn off notifications for Software Updates?
In the 'Notifications' section of the 'System Preferences' app, there is no tab for managing the notifications of System Updates nor App Store.
Hey--- I like auto-checking for updates, and hey--- I like auto-downloading them in the background.
BUT I do not like being notified of updates in the middle of working! Especially when it's iTunes updates. Grrrr.
Any chance this is easy and I just missed it?

  • Why is my debit card declining on my App Store for an update

My debit card has been the same on my iTunes/App Store for few years now, I have money in my account but when I get a free app or update apps it won't do it and say that my card is declined and I don't know how to fix it

Is this the US store? How much is the item? Apple US store prices do not reflect sales tax which is added in the final steps of a sale. If your account credit does not cover the full cost, then you must have a bank card to charge the remainder of the balance. For whatever rason your bank card is being declined, so the sale cannot be finalized.

    What kind of noise?
The only things I can think of that make noise are fans and disks. Fans usually will not cause the computer to shutdown as you describe. My guess is your disk drive died. I hope you made a backup prior to start the ungrade.

  • Hide update in App Store

I would like to ignore or hide iMovie update in App Store because it is not compatible with my iMac 24" Late 2008 and any attempt to run the update fails by telling that it is not compatible.
So please, how can I ignore or hide an update in OS X Mavericks 10.9.x App Store?
    -Pete

Here's my workaround to getting the App Store to quit nagging me about updating iWork( purchased on DVD and supposedly not eligible for an update even if the App Store nags about it). It should work for iMovie or any other application that you can put in a subfolder in the /Applications directory.
The jist of the workaround is that the App Store uses Spotlight to determine what's installed. You have to make the applications invisible to Spotlight and also make the App Store forget it ever saw them on your computer.
In Systems Preferences > Spotlight, privacy tab; add the subfolder where iMovie is located ( e.g. /Applications/iMovie) to locations which Spotlight will not search.
Delete the root partition Spotlight database. From the command line enter:sudo mdutil -Ei off /
Reset the App Store and delete the App Store cookies.See this discussion for instructions.
    Quit the App Store.
Rebuild the Spotlight Database for the root partition. From the command line enter:sudo mdutil -i on /
Once the Spotlight database is rebuilt you can open and log back into the App Store. You should have any notices about the applications in the ignored folders selected in step 1 above.
    Good luck.

  • HT201364 after converting to mavericks I cannot download any updates through app store and mouse click on download buttons does not respond, please assist

Aftr converting to Mavericks could not able to update/download applications through spp store and have to force quit app store as the mouse does not click the X button

Do you get any error messages?
    Try resetting the App Store.
    Reset       Learned from Old Toad
    Try deleting the com.apple.appstore.plist.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
You might need to redo the View settings after an update.

  • HT204152 I am unable to update my App  store Updations. the reason being billing problem asking to update payment method.many times i updated my credit card details but refusing from the system .how can i update my app store updations like  Face book etc.

I am unable to update my App  store Updations. the reason being billing problem asking to update payment method. Many a  times i updated my credit card details but refusing from the system .how can i update my app store updations like  Face book etc....Using ! phone 6plus  .IOS8.3

What do you mean by 'refusing from the system', if you are getting an error message then what does it say ?
For a credit card to have a chance of being accepted it needs to be registered to the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, and have been issued by a bank in the country where you and your iTunes account are. If it is and if you are getting a 'declined' message then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes Support (these are user-to-user forums) and see if they know why it's being declined : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
If when trying to download you are getting a message about a 'problem with a previous purchase' then that implies that iTunes wasn't able to collect the money for your last purchase. If that is the case then you won't be able to download anything else (including app updates) until you've paid off what you owe : Pay an unpaid balance in the iTunes Store - Apple Support
If you aren't getting the 'problem with a previous purchase' message then try logging into your account (not when trying to download something) and see if you get the 'none' option so that you can remove the card's details and be able to download updates to your apps : Change or remove your payment information from your iTunes Store account (Apple ID) - Apple Support

  • TS1702 Updates in App Store is not showing the Apps list

After updating iOS to 6.1 in my iPhone 4s, while tapping 'Updates' in App Store, it is not showing the Apps list, though over the icon it is showing that 11 Apps has got Updates available.

    hi
    i've had your same proble,
you have to go on settings-->itunes&app stores-->apple ID and sign out.
    after this restart your device:
Reset the iPhone by holding the sleep/wake button at the top right of the device and the home buttonat the bottom center of the face at the same time.
Hold them both until you see the screen go black. In some cases, you may need to keep holding them even after the red power off slider appears. If it does, just keep holding it.
Wait until the white Apple logo appears.
ok, now go to settings-->itunes&app stores-->apple ID and sign in again
    ... for me it worked
bye bye let me know if it works even for you!
