IWork '09 with 10.5.5...?

Just got home with iWork 09 and realized it requires 10.5.6. Thats a problem as I can't update without breaking Pro Tools... it requires 10.5.5 ONLY.
Has/is anyone running iWork 09 on 10.5.5...?
These freakin' incompatible requirements drive me nuts. Looks like iWork 09 will be returned.

If there's an incompatibility, I would complain to digidesign, and ask them for an update that works with 10.5.6.
Here's a thread that talks about it a bit:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8632199
According to their website:
Mac OS X 10.5.6 is currently being tested with Pro Tools 8.0, with no known issues at this time.
I took the plunge and updated to 10.5.6... Pro Tools appears to be okay (fingers crossed). Enjoying "Numbers" greatly for the project I had to do.
Thanks.

  • Does iWork come with a form of powerpoint presentation compatible with Microsoft Office Powerpoint?

I recently bought a MacBook Pro and need to purchase iWork or Microsoft Office. Does iWork come with a form of powerpoint presentation? If so, is it easy to use and compatible with Microsoft Office presentation software? The latter question is extremely important as we use Microsoft Office primarily at the college.

Yes, Keynote is iWork's PowerPoint equivalent. You can save as a PowerPoint file as well. Very easy to use IMO.

I have iWork 09 with a family license. I am unable to install the software on my new Macbook Pro (the message is simply "Installation failed"). I wonder if I need to remove an old computer from the family license, and if so, how?

Yes, gladly. I am trying to install on a 13" MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8.3. I insert the disk into the SuperDrive. The I work '09 window pops up with two icons: one Tim install and one that says "Read before you install iWork." I double-click on the "Install iWork '09" icon, and a window appears that says, "This package will run a program to determine if the software can be installed." I click "continue" and see "Welcome to the iWork '09 installer." I click on "Continue." The "read me" bullet on the left lights up, and I see "Read before you install. . . ." I click "Continue," then see the software license agreement. When I click on "Continue" again, I am asked to agree, and I do. The window then says, "Standard Install on 'Mackintosh HD" and indicates how much space the program will take.
I click "Install," enter my password, and the installation begins. It goes through a validating phase and begins "writing files." It indicates that installation will take about 30 minutes (although that number fluctuates). After about four minutes it goes to "cleaning up." Then after just a few seconds, the "Summary" bullet on the left lights up and this message appears: "There were errors with the installation. You may want to try installing again." There is a large yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it, and a bold "The installation failed." Below that appears "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
At that point, a "Close" button is pulsating blue at the bottom of the window.
Sorry for the tedious detail. Anything revealing there?
    Thanks!

  • IWork-09 with Mavericks

Using iWork-09 with Mavericks doesn't allow you to open a blank file immediately, you must go through the time chooser window first--is there a workaround to this problem?

You always have had to open your file via the Template Chooser, unless you choose a particular template to open with:
Menu > Preferences > General Preferences > For New Documents: Use template > Choose…

If you buy the Amazon version for US$19.95 make sure you update it to iWork '09 4.3.

  • Does iworks come with new Macbook Pro? Which version?

I purchased my Macbook Pro last week and it is already asking me to update my iWork to '09.  Can not find it on the website what came with the purchase.  Please help!  Is this right that it doesn't come with the latest version?

If it shipped with the computer and you need to ask, it's a trial version.

  • How can I manage and share iWork templates with users on OSX Lion Server?

I would like to use the iWork templates shared in a local Lion OSX Server network.
I would like everybody in the network to use the same iWork templates (is it possible to share these on the server?)
And I want to be able to change or add templates to this shared folder so everybody in the organization has always the same and most up to date templates.
Can somebody please tell me how to do this?

The templates delivered with the apps are embedded in the apps and the license states:
The folder used by the application to reach custom templates is on the local machine.
You may store your custom templates in a folder on the Network but the users would be unable to reach them thru the "Create from a template" menu item. An easy workaround is to install an alias of the folder on every machine.
I'm writing about templates with the official meaning.
If, as several askers, you use the word to name documents, Pages is not designed for this kind of use.
There is no provision in the app to allow several users to work simultaneously on a given document.

  • Problems with iWork syncing with iCloud

    Hello there,
So I have a slight problem -- my iWork is failing to sync with my iCloud. I have the entire iWork suite installed on my MacBook, but for some reason, iCloud isn't registering with it. I go on iCloud and it mentions purchasing it. But, the problem is, I already have it purchased. If someone could help with this, that would be MUCH appreciated!
    -I have attatched some screenshots.-

    Hi yantaialec,
Once you have insured WiFi is on and Photo Stream is enabled, the only other thing I can think of is to make sure the Camera App is closed for the photo syncing to work.
    From iCloud: Photo Stream Troubleshooting
"Ensure that Camera app is closed on the device where you took the photo. Photo Stream will not upload photos from an iOS device until the Camera app is closed."
You may even want to remove it from the Multitasking Bar just to make sure it's quit and see if it streams.
    What does tech support say?

  • IWork problem with fonts

    Hello,
I have been experiencing the following problem while using iWork, and Pages in specific.
I have been using the Ubuntu Font Family for quite a long time, and I have always been able to type text in Greek. Since I upgraded to Mavericks and iWork 5.1 things have started getting weird as far as this specific font is concerned. All accentuated letters stopped appearing correctly and instead they get replaced by random accentuated letters from a different font family. This happens in all iWork applications and TextEdit. I know for sure that Greek language is supported, as the problem does not occur in other applications, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, etc.
Any ideas on what might be causing this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help!

If you have the US flag at the top right of the screen when you are typing Greek, then the font is definitely non-standard.
I don't know what is causing the problem, but I think you can be sure Apple is not going to worry about fixing problems related to the behavior with such fonts after system or app updates.
You might try a safe boot, in case this is caused by cache issues:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14204
I'd strongly recommend you move to Unicode Greek.  That is the international standard these days.  From a digital perspective, all the text being produced with a non-Unicode font is not Greek but Latin which just looks like Greek for some readers.

  • IWork Compatibility with Mac/iPad/PC

I have a MacBook Pro and iPad 2 for home use and PC at work (grr). I'd like to buy iWork bc it's compatible with both my Mac/iPad. My question is will I be able to edit Word/Excel docs that originated from my work PC in iWork on my home computer and view/edit them on my work PC? I do not have complicated documents or tables, but rather basic Word documents and Excel spreadhseets that serve as databases.

Yes. On your computer, instead of clicking the document open, drag it onto the pages app in your dock and the word document will automatically be converted to a pages document. On the iPad, any document you open will have a little button in the corner that looks like a share button. The button actually lets you open the document in any document editing app - including pages. On the Mac, you have the option to save all the documents in a microsoft office compatible (but do not forget to select the button each time). Also, if you put it on iCloud.com, you can download the file as a .pages, .doc, or.pdf. On the iPad, the documents are automatically saved to iCloud and can be accessed at iCloud.com from a Mac or PC. If you email it from the iPad, it can be emailed as iWork, Microsoft office, or PDF.

  • How to buy license for iWorks '09 (with upgrade version 9.3)

I have installed iWorks '09 trial with 9.3 upgrade on my wife's MacBook 10.7.5.  I would like to purchase the license, but the links to do that don't seem to work. Is the purchase still possible? How do I do it?  Thanks.

    Hi,
CON-SU1-AS2A10K9 contract if for ASA+IPS bundle. If AIP-SSM-10 ws purchased as a spare the contract would be CON-SU1-ASIP10K9.
I am not sure whether or not this Cisco Service for IPS contract can be  used to cover just the AIP-SSM-10 if it was purchased as part of a  Bundle instead of a Spare.
I would recommend that you check with your Cisco reseller or Cisco  Sales Representative.

  • How do I open iWork files with updated OS

I updated to Maverick which also updated iWork.  Now I get the notice that I need the latest version of Pages or Numbers when I try to open files.  This happens with old files as well as files created in the latest version of iWork.  How do I correct this problem?

Like you, I downloaded the new versions at the same time.  I just checked the version of Numbers and it said v 2.3.  When I go to Software Updates, it states I  installed v 3.0.  When I right click on a file, it shows v 3.0 as the default and I can open the file.  When I try to open Recent Files I don't have that option.  There appears to be a disconnect somewhere.
