IWork and iPhoto problems after upgrading to Mountain Lion.

Since I have upgraded to OS 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion), iWork would not load and I can't export pictures from iPhoto.  I am using a MacBook Pro 17", early 2008, with 1 Tb hard drive and 4 Gb RAM.  Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi !
I booted both the modem and router but it did not help. Then I tried using the iMac on wireless and now it works so must be something in my D-Link router.
Thanks for pointing me to the right direction !

  • Mail problems, slow browsing and Facebook problems after upgrading to Mountain Lion

    Hi !
I have a 27” iMac from late 2009 which started acting really strange after upgrading to Mountain Lion.
Before that everything works fine but now Mail does not work, will not send replies or add attachments and browsing has become so slow that it usually times out. Another strange problem is Facebook messages which does not work at all (cannot read nor send(.
I have Lenovo laptop connected to the same network so I can benchmark and browsing works just fine on that aswell as FB messages.
Anybody got a solution to this other than using the iMac for offline use only ?

  • Why has my Safari and MAIL slowed after upgrading to Mountain Lion on my MacBookPro ?

Why has my Safari and MAIL slowed after upgrading to Mountain Lion ? I have mid-2009 MBPro and have very fast Internet access router.

I have noticed the same thing on my MAC.  Mail has become very "clunky"- Before Mountain Lion, whenever I clicked on a msg or a function (delete), it would respond immediately.  With Mountain Lion there is an unacceptable hesitation.  What is going on with this latest update?

  • Mail sorting problem after upgrading to Mountain Lion?

I have a strange problem with Mail after upgrading to Mountain Lion.
Before upgrading, when I tried to search my Mail Inbox for e-mails from a specific sender, the esearch results would be indexed by the name of the sender. For example: when I entered 'John Smith' in the search box in Mail, it would display a list of email from 'John Smith'
Now after upgrading, the same query indexes the search results by the 'To' address i.e. my email address. For example: if my name is 'Steve Johnson', a search for 'John Smith' in the search box in Mail displays a list of email to 'Steve Johnson' and not from 'John Smith' which is how it used to display before.
My emails are sorted by Date always, and I am using the default Mail view [not classic view]
Can someone please help with a fix for this to help me get back to the original display I had while searching? Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same problem.  It's incredibly annoying!!!  Did you find an answer?

My macbook pro battery drains very fast, just used 3% as I am entering this question. This rapid battery drain started after upgrade to mountain lion. Any advice?

This appears to be a problem that's affecting a number of users and has been widely reported. My guess is you're going to have to wait till they do a software update.
There's general tips for conserving battery power on my page here that might ameliorate matters in the meantime:

  • Mouse and keyboard problem after updating to Mountain Lion

    Hi!
This is the strangest problem I got on a Mac for 20 years...
I work on a Macpro 3,1. I upgraded my 10.7.5 os to 10.8.5 (needed it to use GTX 680 card).
The upgrade went fine and then... The mouse and the keyboard don't react.
After resetting the SMC they began to react but the mouse is deadly erratic and the keyboard repeats few time each key (impossible to write), for instance I hit n and got nnnnnn.
Resetting PRam does not help. Redoing the os update did not help.
This is really bad cause I can't use my Mac at all right now. I think I'll do a Fresh lion install and move my data back to it before I find something for that Mountain.
Its a real pain, does someone have an idea?
    Thank you,
    Milosz

    Hi!
For those interested, I found the solution reading others forums.
    Here it is:
I had to remove my optional old apple airport card (atheros a/b/g) and everything works fine now.
Hopefully I don't wifi on that Mac, otherwise I would need to buy another one. Which one? I don't know.
Too bad Mountain Lion isn't supporting anymore that apple card…
    Have a nice day

  • Lost iTunes files, iPhoto files after upgrade to mountain lion.

I'm an idiot I didnt back anything up...
I upgraded from lion to mountain lion. At first the set up screen would not accept my apple id password so I created a blank(new) account just to get the computer to work.
It works ok but all my desktop files have disappeared, iPhoto files have gone and iTunes (although the drive has the files) is blank. I'm feeling a bit sick cause all my holiday snaps from my iPhone and all my preferences have just disappeared...
Loads of important stuff on the desktop has gone as well.
When I try to search for "all files" it says they have gone too. But that can't be right...right?
It's a disastor can anyone help?
    IJ

You say if I understand correctly that the files are still on the disk, if so you may be able to reassign them to another account. See this link but read carefully before you try it and backup those files now before you start. Hopefully taking a clone of your disk will backup your old data  but again check that they are one the cloned drive before any changes are made.

Someone may offer a simpler solution while you are cloning the hard drive.

  • After upgrading to mountain lion i keep getting an error message saying my startup disc is full. it shouldnt be full because there is barely anything on there and i was running windows with bootcamp prior to this with no issues

after upgrading to mountain lion i keep getting an error message saying my startup disc is full. it shouldnt be full because there is barely anything on there and i was running windows with bootcamp prior to this with no issues. my computer now freezes and programs close randomly. The usual command for opening windows with bootcamp doesnt work. once in restarted my computer after it froze and it rebooted in windows automatically. i really just want to know if there is a way to take the upgrade off my laptop because it is very annoying.

    Hi Memalyn
Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.
    Matt

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I repurchased Garageband and I can't get passed the complete installation. I don't seem to have the "com.apple.garageband.plist" file that has been a common solution. Any suggestions?

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I repurchased Garageband and I can't get passed the complete installation. I've read through several posts that all reference the "com.apple.garageband.plist" solution. I don't seem to have the referenced .plist. Any solutions or suggestions?

    Did you upgrade from SnowLeopard?
I can't get passed the complete installation
What exactly is happening? Is GarageBand trying to download over and over again?
all reference the "com.apple.garageband.plist" solution. I don't seem to have the referenced .plist.
The property list stores your preferences, but also the settings from the last run of the application.  If that file is corrupted in some way, you might see third behaviour.
You must have this file, for it will be recreated automatically, if it is missing, or you have a permissions problem with your user library.
Perhaps you did look in he wrong place.
in MacOS 10.7. or later the User Library is hidden. To find the Preferences Files use the Finder's "Go" menu:
Quit GarageBand, if it is running.
Click onto you Desktop to bring the Finder forward.
In the Finder Menu press "Go" and hold down the "option/alt" key, until your user library appears in the drop-down menu
Select "Library" and in the Finder window that opens navigate to the "Prederences" folder; move com.apple.garageband.plist to the Desktop.
Log off and on again (don't skip that step!). Retry GarageBand and see if it GarageBand is now downloading the missing content properly.
If that does not fix the problem, post back and explain in more detail what the download problem is.
Why did you "repurchase" GarageBand? If you already owned GarageBand '11, it should be unnecessary.
    Regards
    Léonie

  • ITunes movie playback, audio and video not in sync after upgrade to Mountain Lion

After upgrading to Mountain Lion I have problems with iTunes movie playback, and the audio/video at times stalls/delays, or skips a few seconds, or even gets out of sync.  I feared this problem was isolated to my machine until I saw an article online: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57489874-263/sound-stuttering-after-mountai n-lion-installation/.  I have 2011 iMac 27" with 16G RAM and am running the latest iTunes and Mac OS X software, and shutting down extra programs doesn't help.  Please let me know of any solution.

I also have this problem, and some videos will no longer play in iTunes.
I get a message that this video is not compatible with this version of iTunes. I have to open the video in Quicktime to watch it.
Unacceptable! This hardware and software is too expensive to have these performance issues.
