IWork documents in iCloud "library" question

When I close an iWork document, such as Pages, the Pages "library" on iCloud also closes. To look for other Pages documents I have in iCloud, I need to re-launch the Pages app and then they are all displayed again. Any ideas on how to keep the iCloud "libray" window open on the desktop when I close a doument?

Yes, Sorry, I had no luck and then put it aside, meaning to come back to it.
Apple is increasingly doing things in convoluted, obscure and clumsy ways.
Exactly what we poo-poo as Un-Maclike when everyone else does it.
I swear aliens have invaded Cupertino and taken over Apple. The Spaceship they are building there is to take them back to their home system.

  • Download iWork documents from iCloud to Mac in Pages 5.0 and Numbers 3.0

Does anyone know how to download iWork documents from iCloud to Mac, most specifically from Pages 5.0 and Numbers 3.0. It seems that Apple have taken away the ability to do so, as in the past I believe there was a download button... All I am trying to do is download the document to attach and send via Gmail.
Extremely frustrating as I can't find any discussion surrounding this problem.

Have you tried right-clicking the document to get an option to download it.

  • TS3991 Neither of my two Macs will upload or sync iWork documents to iCloud

Neither of my two Macs will upload or sync iWork documents to iCloud.  My iOS divides have no trouble syncing documents to iCloud over the same network as the Macs.  I have rest iCloud, and made sure that my iCloud documents preferences were correct.  This is getting extremely frustrating. Anyone have some suggestions?

Could you tell us what happens when you try to sync your documents with iCloud.

  • 10.5.8 can't download iwork documents from icloud anymore

I am not sure what changed.
I can no longer download iwork documents from icloud because "Download Document" is greyed out.
I was able to download documents from icloud just until recently
I am having this problem with my Powerbook G4 running 10.5.8.
As I said it worked until recently...
    Help

Sorry, I'm a bit confused - you said you're using a Powerbook G4 with 10.5.8? According to these system requirements:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You are not able to take advantage of iCloud with a Powerbook.
So which model are you actually using if it worked previously?

  • How do i sync my iWork documents to iCloud from my Mac?

I can't seem to sync my documents with iCloud from my mac. I've installed the latest update for Lion and there are no updates avaiable from any of the iWork applications. The Douments I create on my iPad are there but I can't seem to sync them with my mac.
This is a really important for me as i am a part time student and i work too, so i have to squeeze whatever time i can whenever i can to produce work. I can't always carry my macbook pro so i need to work from my iPad too and i dont have time to keep copying all my files across. I have used dropbox and google documents until now.
    Thanks,
    Dubstar_04

It would appear that there's no direct way to synchronize iWork document between a Mac and iCloud the way there was with iDisk, or at least I haven't found mention of it anywhere, and I've been searching for it as I juggle between my iPhone and my Mac all the time. The iDisk sync wasn't automatic on iPhone, whereas iCloud is, which is great, but if you want the files on your Mac, you need to log on to iCloud from a browser, download the files you want, work on them and reupload them. Not exactly what I call seemless.
Hopefully Apple will make iCloud more easily accessible from Finder soon.

  • IPad doesn't see iWork documents in iCloud

I bought a new 4th generation iPad yesterday and immediately installed Pages & Numbers, thinking I would be able to access all the iWork documents I have in in iCloud.  Thus far I haven't been able to figure out how to do this.  I have iCloud turned on (on the iPad) and when I opened Pages and Number I got the dialog box saying iCloud was available...did I want to use it.  I clicked YES for both apps, but still I don't see any way to view the iWork documents I currently have in iCloud.  I don't have any such issues between iClouds and my desktop Mac.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Disregard.  It apparently took about 15 minutes for the sync to occur and now I'm seeing my iCloud documents on my iPad.

  • Cant open iWork documents on iCloud

    Hi guys,
I am running mountain lion 10.8.2, I put a few documents up into iCloud when 10.8 was released and they were working just fine, now cannot open a few numbers & pages documents.
I have 5 pages documents saved in iCloud, 2 docs I can open (the doc preview has the text) and 3 others I cant open (these have the pages icon as the preview) I have found the same issue in numbers.
I have unticked the documents option in the settings, let all the documents delete and then reticked it with no success.
I also went to the iCloud website and tried to download it from there and it says "Document cant be downloaded, please try again"
Tried dragging it onto my desktop from pages and get this “Document name” cannot be converted. Please install a newer version of iWork. I'm on pages 4.2 the latest version according to the app store.
I also logged onto my MBP at home and couldn't open the documents either.
I certainly hope this is fixable!!!!

Any progress on the 'copy your Time Machine backup' version of this issue? I started getting these errors 12 hours into a 24 hour copy… and eventually the copy failed.
Funny, I had the same symptoms, 12 hours into a 24 hour copy, too. (example below)
“D705B42B-AB04-4C16-9887-922B8A083A8E” cannot be converted. Please install a newer version of iWork.
The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items.
The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8062).
What I noticed was that, despite following HT5096 correctly, I was not asked to enter Admin password at the beginning of the copy. I run in Admin all the time, and Disk Utility asked me for Admin password and Finder asked me for Admin password when I unchecked ignore ownership.
I'm VERY interested in why the copy process believes it's CONVERTING these iWork documents. And naturally I'm running what App Store tells me is the latest iWork.
Previously, I'd always just started another backup on new drives… I guess I'll be doing that in future too, as the well meaning HT wasted 12 hours. Sadly, I don't seem to be able to submit feedback on the HT, either.
I posted these comments to a newer discussion, more specific, but not much activity.

  • Iwork documents in iCloud not opening on iPad nor on Mac after stopping syncing

When I upgraded to IOS5 I activated icloud support for iwork documents. After some problems I switched off syncing to icloud answering please keep my documents on iPad.
Now I have the following situation for all older documents
On iPad the Documents are just an icon (pages for example) or are shown as a preview but in neither case they load. There is a rotating "please wait" but it never succeeds or just stops without opening any document.
On Mac a similar situation with slightly different appearance. Sometimes it says just
    * Document not available, try later, sometimes
    * Open your document on iDevice before opening in Mac
So I am locked. The document appear on the iCloud-Website seen from my Mac but do not open. Neither do they open on my iPad. They are shown as icon previews (in most cases) but cannot be opened or sent by email etc.
Where are they? Are they anywhere? Can I get them by some magic other methods??
    TIA for answers.

Disregard.  It apparently took about 15 minutes for the sync to occur and now I'm seeing my iCloud documents on my iPad.

  • Put some selected iWork documents on iCloud (Not all iWork Docs)

I want to put some selected iWork documents ie Page docs on iCloud and want to save some Page Docs on some private folder which is to be stored on local device not on iCloud.

Regardless of whether this is also occurring under iOS 5, you aren't breaking the NDA you have signed and promised to abide by. You should not be posting here.

  • Can I store non-iWorks documents in iCloud?  Like I would on an external.hard drive

Can I store "non-iWorks files in iCloud?  I have PDF's and CAD files I would like to store online.  I would like to use iCloud like an online hard drive for some things.

Not at present: but 'iCloud Drive' is expected later this year - see this preview:
    https://www.apple.com/uk/ios/ios8/icloud-drive/
Alternatively there are plenty of other services, including Google Drive, DropBox, SugarSync, MacMate etc: this page looks at some of them -

  • How do I save my iWork documents to iCloud?

How do I save my Numbers & Pages documents FROM my Mac Desktop TO iCloud so I can access the most recent versions of these documents from my iPad?

If you open a document in Pages or Numbers, and you have done the initial signup at iwork.com, then there is a Share icon in the top right of the screen.  Clicking on that icon gives you three options:  1.  Share with viewers, 2. Publish on the Web, 3. Upload for Private Use.
    It works well for me.

  • Iphoto/icloud/library question

I am confused about the iphoto features. I thought when I clicked on the photo tab in the library section on the left that was showing me pictures that were saved to the hard drive. But I do see that it says photo stream. What is the difference in that and the icloud tab farther down on the left.  I think that after like 1000 pictures photos get deleted from your photo stream, so i am just trying to figure out how not to lose pictures.  Do i need to be saving pictures on my hard drive?

Photos in the Library section (Events, Photos, Faces, Places) are saved in your iPhoto Library on your hard drive. Photos in the iCloud section are in your Photo Stream. If a Photo Stream photo has been added to your library then it will appear in both places. You can set iPhoto to automatically add new Photo Stream photos to your Library by going to the iPhoto menu item Preferences, click on iCloud at the top of the Preferences window and select "Automatic Import" under Photo Stream.

  • Saving documents in icloud

I would like to save non-iWork documents in iCloud.
    Is this possible?
If so, how is it done?

With some types of documents yes, in other cases you might be better with online storage, what exactly did you want to do.

  • Can I choose which iWork documents to store on iCloud?

    Hi,
I was wondering if I can choose which iWork documents to store on iCloud? I have a lot of iWork files on my work Mac but I don't want them all on iCloud, just a couple that I'm currently working on, so that I can easily access and edit them when I'm at home or on the road.
    Thanks!

You are free, if you want to store your iWorks documents in the cloud or locally on your mac. The file choser dialog, when you are saving the document, will let you save it either in iCloud or in a folder on your mac. If you later change your mind, you can move the document between your local storage oand the cloud.

  • Is it possible to delete iwork documents off my Mac but keep them saved in iCloud?

    Hello,
Is it possible to delete iwork documents off my Mac but keep them saved in iCloud?
    Thanks in advance

In Finder preferences > General, I changed New Finder windows show: from All My Files to my short login name. This reduces the confusion in presented files.
You can control where you retrieve or save iWork documents via the open and Save.../Save As... dialogs -- or with drag & drop -- be that local or iCloud. I have Pages documents in iCloud that do not reside on my local disk. I can always retrieve them from iCloud to local storage as needed. You certainly can remove a local copy of a document that you already have saved in iCloud.
The act of saving a document to iCloud does not create a duplicate (backup) copy on your local storage.
