Iwork...not working

Hi, folks need some help.
I have read through a lot of the posts but cannot find the same symptoms to my problem.
Basically the whole of iWork doesn't seem to be working. In pages I cannot open any templates or existing documents from new or the template chooser. On the template chooser I select blank and the timer wheel comes up and that is it. When I select new I get nothing.
In numbers I can open existing documents and by setting what template I want through New i can open a blank template, however I cannot save, the options are greyed out.
Had this set up from 2009 and never had an issue but 2 weeks ago when I try and start a new template it all starts acting funny.
Please help I can't find my discs so hoping I won't have to re-install, but at moment can't see any other option (assuming that would even help).
Cheers
Jon

I actually had the same problem. Now iWork '09 completely stopped working on my Macbook Pro...
Everytime I start any of the iWork Applications I get the following error code (in this case with Pages):

Tried to redownload the iWork and install again, but no screen of all the software after tap it to work, after a while the screen close and back to original screen.
It was working well with OS4. Appreciate anyone can help to solve it.

I had this same problem and played with the function that changes the purpose of the switch that can either MUTE the iPad or put into ROTATION LOCK. This is just a theory, but it seems that when I made the switch from utilizing the MUTE function to ROTATION LOCK I may have had the switch in the MUTE setting. So when I switched it back to serve as the MUTE function the sound effects returned when I ensured it was OFF. I would advise trying to play with the function a little bit. Go into Settings > General > and make sure that "Mute" is selected as the function for the purpose of the side switch. Once you have that, ensure that the switch is in the position which does NOT display the red dot when viewed from the side. Check your sound effects by either opening up a game or composing a message and listening for keyboard clicks (provided you have keyboard clicks enabled...
Let me know if this works.

  • IWork not working on iPhone 5 with iCloud Drive

I upgraded to iOS 8 on my iPhone 5 and activated iCloud Drive, since then iWork applications won't let me create a document or see my documents that were previously created. Though, I did the same thing on my iPad 4 gen and everything works well.
-I tried reinstalling each applications a number of times.
-I reinstalled iOS 8 via my Mac.
    Thanks in advance!

Here are the steps I have taken so far, none of them working:
1.)  I have done a full reset and set the phone up as a new phone (no restore from icloud)
2.)  I have downloaded the public release build from the developer forum, installed it, and set up as a new phone.
3.)  I have done 1 and 2 above while restoring from icloud
Not one of them has worked.  I am wondering if it isolated to the Verizon iphone 5?

  • Handoff with iWork not working on iOS 8.0.2

    Hi,
I have an iPhone 5 and an iPad Air.
After updating to iOS 8 and also with iOS 8.0.2, handoff simply doesn't work with keynote, numbers or pages. All the rest of the handoff features (safari, messages, etc.) do work.
I tried rebooting, closing and opening handoff, signing off and the signing on to iCloud, but nothing works.
Anyone seeing something similar, or have a solution?
    Thanks!

OK so here's a possible solution. Go to Settings > General >Reset >Reset Network Settings and reset your network settings. This resolved my problems. Apparently the brilliant folks at Apple don't as a routine do this with the 8.0.2 install and your poor little iPhone can get confused with the new upgrade. Resetting the network settings clears out the cache I guess and resets your connection (at least it did for me) and has you back up and in business.

So I spent 89.00 canadian to buy a program that has no clue.  Hurray for me.

    https://discussions.apple.com/message/13059252#13059252
Basically, the flagged correct answer in that thread seems to involve doing the following and then reinstalling:
(My suggestion would be to create a folder on the desktop as a temporary residence for the following files and folders to mode).
In your home directory, remove iWork plist files from /Users/your_account_name/Library/Preferences folder, which would be for the iWork applications.
Move the folder /Library/Application Support/iWork '09 to the temp folder you created.
Move the folder /Applications/iWork '09 to the temp folder.
Reinstall the program.  Something got hosed in the installer the first time around (it happens).  It worked for the OP in the linked discussion.

I am trying to log on to iwork but it keeps saying that my password is incorrect. I have already reset it and entered my new password and it still is not working. what should i do?

I really can't comprehend the logic that leads to believe that password for old apple id will come to e-mail for new id. Buy may be I just misunderstood something. Contact Apple for assist with password retrieval. If you can verify yourself as account owner they may be able to help you.

  • I thought apple is user friendly. That is why I bought it. I do not have a use to download my boot camp assistant for a compatible to microsoft words, excel, powerpoint. They told me I have iWork's for all of this products but mine is not working.

    To whom it may concern.
I bought an apple product which is MacBook Air about 7 mths. ago . Anyway I would like to download a compatible words, excel, powerpoint. they told me that I do not need it since IWORKS is all I needed. I tried my keynote , numbers does not worked. Somebody emailed me sending me this mumbo jumbo for it to work. Well, if I was a computer wiz, I probably will not be asking for help.
I followed the tutorials for windows for mac, followed every instructions, hold and behold another problem. I have to have a usb, when I bought this at Best Buy, I asked them what do I need , they said that I do not need anything else because it is all in there. So to make a long story short. I am just so frustrated .
How can I download the windows for mac, I know I have to start in utilities , boot camp assistant, then the usb problem. Please I need help, it is much needed for my job. Ipages does not saved anything, I mean nothing it just disappeared , and you do not have any idea how much I have the long hrs. I have put in.
Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate this .

You can buy Microsoft Office for Mac, it includes Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Or you can download a free copy of LibreOffice which contains substitutes (good ones) for the Microsoft Office programs.
Do not even think of using Boot Camp unless you have a complete and current TM backup or a clone to restore if it goes wrong. You will also need to buy Windows and Microsoft Office for it. And you MUST read the directions very carefully.

If you mean photo stream, that's because they only remain in iCloud for 30 days (even though your last 1000 photo stream photos remain on your iOS devices until you delete them).  When you first enable photo stream, you only get the photos from the last 39 days as older photos are no longer in iCloud.
If you want to stream your old photo stream photos to iPhoto, add them to a shared photo stream on your phone and invite yourself as a subscriber, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99.  Alternatively, you can import them using your usb cable as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

Note: It might be that I did not fully delete the last pages i downloaded my mac is a macbook pro maybe 2-5 years old and 10.6.8

I'm guessing either Pages and iWork were not properly installed and/or Snow Leopard is not properly installed. What version of Pages is installed? Are you sure you have iWork '09? You should have the iWork DVD, so the first thing to try is re-installing Pages. Should that not work then try reinstalling Snow Leopard.
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • HT1338 Upgraded to Lion. IWork does not work. How do I fix this?

I increased the size of my hard drive to 1TB and upgraded from Snow Lepord to Lion.  iWorks 09' (keynote, pages, numbers) and iPhoto do not work.  I have used software updated and everything is current.
Is there a patch of something else I need to do to make them compatible?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Step 1
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Just bought iworks and the serial number is not working. help!

just bought iworks and the serial number is not working. help

How did you buy iWork (no 's', capital 'W')?
If you downloaded the trial version earlier, and have since purchased a serial number, iWork will ask you for the number the first time you launch one of the iWork applications after the trial period ends.
If you bought a retail box, or bought the individual applications through the Mac app store, no serial number is needed, but if any part of the trial version is still installed on your computer, you'll get a request to enter a serial number before proceeding.
In the last case, you must delete all traces of iWork and it's applications (but not the documents that you have created and saved), then reinstall the purchased versions from the DVD or from the app store.
For the simplest and most efficient means of deleting the trial version, go to Yvan Koenig's iDisk, then to:
    for_iWork > iWork 09 > uninstall iWork 09.zip
Unzip the file, open with Script Editor and run.

  • IWork is not working on Yosemite after a fresh install from the disk

    Hi,
I've freshly install yosemite on my computer.
I first reinstalled my computer with original Snow Leopard and then made the upgrade to Yosemite.
After that I used the Migration Assistant to transfert my old applications.
Most of them are now running perfectly but I'm still facing issues with iWork.
It refuses to launch with a message error saying that "Pages" for example is not working with this version of Mac OS and I should make al available update.
There are indeed updates available from the App store but I can't download them because it is not available for my apple ID because someone else bought it or I cancelled the buying ?!
It's strange because I bought it with my Macbook Pro in 2010 and even after a fresh install from the disk, the message is still the same...
Any idea how to unlock these updates?

    Actually this doesn't explain everything.
I finally reinstalled Snow Leopard / iWork 09' and then upgraded to Yosemite and everything is working like a charm.
This issue has something to do with the use of the "Application migration tool" from Mac Os X Yosemite to collect old applications to the new os from another installation...
I solved my issue this way because I don't have very valuable applications that I want to transfert but for other users, this could be a real issue...
Thanks a lot for your answer

Installed Mavericks and latest updates for iWorks. Some fonts will not work on Pages or Keynote. Any ideas?

It appears overkilling to install Bootcamp and a complete Windows environment just for running a single, old-fashioned piece of software...
Old 32-bits Windows programs usually run fine with WINE, of which I warmly recommend the "PlayonMac" version (free).
    http://www.playonmac.com
    Just try with Playonmac...
If it does not work, try the other free WINE port for Mac, Winebottler:
    http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/
If even this does not work, there is a not-free WINE port named Crossover:
    http://www.codeweavers.com/products/crossover-mac/
It has a free trial mode, so you can test if it works with your scanner program before purchasing it...

  • Latest update of iWork is bugged - spanish language and not working Charts view in Inspector in Numbers

Latest iWork update ("iWork Update 6", version 9.1) got my Numbers broken. I'm Polish user and I use Numbers in Polish language. After latest iWork Update I can't use Numbers - everything is fine, everything works, everything is in Polish, but...
When I select Charts in Numbers' Inspector it is in Spanish and it does not work at all - looks like broken view/nib/whatever. It is not random - I mean I've installed the update on one Mac (10.6.8) and it is in Spanish, I've installed it on my MacBook and it is in Spanish and I did not installed it on my iMac and it is working! That implicites that the "iWork Update 6" makes Numbers broken (again, not working Charts inpsector pane and Spanish instead of Polish).
However - when I change user language from Polish to English, log out and log in, than run Numbers, everything looks ok - Charts inpector pane is in English and it does work. That is kinda workaround, however this is not a solution!
I tried to install iWork from the CD (so not updated), however it doesn't work either - update must be somewhere hidden in system. I need this repaired, because it makes Numbers unusable and makes my work harder :|

  • Frozen computer+ a restart= safari iwork itunes all not working!  help!

So recently I moved back into my parents home and my sister bought a router. She lives upstairs I live downstairs. When I tried to get internet recently it was successful. So I went to my Mac updates and I had 13 that needed to be performed. After the 13 loaded It asked to restart the computer and I eventually did. But then it started to reload them again. After awhile of me trying to hold the button down and shut the computer down manually I shut it down by shutting my power strip its connected to off and then on. But Now when i restart my computer the 1st screen that pops up states "The Application GoogleSoftwareUpdateAgent quit unexpectedly" and give me 3 options (To Relaunch,Restart, or Ignore) When I relaunch NOTHING happens or it'll take me to a screen that says the program "quit unexpectedly after it was relaunched and resetting the application settings may fix the problem" but when I click the reset and relaunch option still nothing happens.
Also, The programs IPages,Itunes,Ichat,Iwork, dictionary, and safari does not work and what works are things such as Final Cut, Folders on my desktop, a program called Mpeg stream clip, Just like random things work. I cant even do my software updates, it'll just give me the same screen with the same 3 options that dont work! WHat has happened? Did I lose my iPages work? Did I lose the internet? Did the 13 programs Not finish installing is this why this is happening? Do i have to reboot somehow? SOme one please help!. Iam very confused Thank you immensly for reading!

well, When I called earlier today I talked to an Apple Rep. And even though he could only trouble shoot with me Because It cost $ to endulge deeper, It seems that the one solid thing here is that its a software issue not hardware.
It's probably a disk corruption, but that's not a certainty. It can be hardware. Disk blocks can and do fail, and can lead to just these sorts of symptoms, for instance.
I made a new user and logged onto my computer that way and still, the same things dont work (i tunes I work etc.) So your saying to start fresh?
I'm suggesting to first create a backup of your existing (corrupt?) boot disk. Then wipe the disk. Then install. Then reload. Yes. With the backup of your boot disk to an external USB or firewire drive, you can (once the operating system is reloaded) potentially pull over files from the (corrupt?) disk. You'll also then have a disk device you can potentially use as a target for future Time Machine backups, as well.
wipe clean and start fresh. I mean should I even take it to a apple dealer in this situation?
That's entirely your call. Troubleshooting this stuff remotely isn't easy; I'm making a number of assumptions (guesses) around what happened here, and what sort of recovery might be appropriate.
And through a wired connection do u mean Like a phone line? thank you again.
No. You're (probably) connected on a WiFi (wireless networking) router when you refer to "router". There are various and very different sorts of devices correctly and incorrectly called "routers", and I'm guessing you're referring to a WiFi router here. Most WiFi routers will have a wired connection into the ISP; a DSL or cable modem wire are among the more common connections. These are wired connections. Most WiFi routers also have additional (wired) ports. WiFi is subject to interference. If you've had problems with the wireless network connection, a wired connection can be more reliable.
