IWork Numbers

Why does a date format, entered in a spreadsheet, as 01/01/12 (shown in the address bar as January 1st 2012) become corrupted to 21/12/12. I try to correct it but each time it reverts to this date in the future.
Curiously, I am having the same number come up when replying to an email using Thunderbird in that it will say "(name ) wrote .....on 21/12/12"
The date on the machine is showing correct date and time.
Looking at my Thunderbird Inbox, all messages are shown as 21/12/12 even though they were received over a spread of dates whereas Mail shows correct dates

Might be a clue there. I suspect a conflict between your language settings and your time and date settings in System Preferences > International > Formats.
Numbers picks up its numerical date format from System Prefs, and a Custom setting here can sometimes cause date issues. I haven't seen one defaulting to that specific date, though.
Sorry I can't make suggestions as to how to cure it other than trying one of the 'standard' region settings for formats.

  • Please help! Will iWorks Numbers work with XLS or Excel Spreadsheets

A friend of mine wants me to make her a spreadsheet and I use a PC with MS Office Excel. My question is... Will she be able to use and view a .xls spreadsheet on her new Mac? She has either Iworks Numbers 2008 or 2009. I'm not absolutely sure. I know it's a new computer. The spreadsheet will be fairly basic and the formulas will be simple addings for misc. expenses.
Please let me know if this will work.

Thanks! The spreadsheet I made is a basic list for expenses that automatically adds the entered amounts in each column to sum up the individual expense. I also have a column on the right that adds the amounts entered in each row. Lastly I have one cell which provides a grand total of all expenses combined.
From your reply I'm afraid I will have to make a road trip. As my friend lives quite a distance from me. I was hoping to simply create and email the Excel file to her. With my formulas to you think they will conflict with Iworks Numbers? How much different is Mac Numbers to Excel? I have never seen or used it. The formulas I used are simple =SUM(X:X)formulas and the first calculating cell I have set is not A1 but D4 etc.
I'm sorry to have so much to ask but will the layout stay the same and what will happen to any protection settings I set?
Thanks again for all your time and help to everyone who replied! It's much appreciated!

  • In iWork numbers 2.1 i have created monthly tables that end in sums of my daily numbers

In iWork numbers 2.1 i have created monthly tables that end in sums of my daily numbers & i want to combine the sums for all months into a new table to allow me to get yearly sums.  When i try to copy monthly sums i get 'formula contains invalid reference.' How do i perform this function?

    DC,
If you want to use Copy/Paste, you should use the Edit > Paste Values version. Or, you could simply add references in the Yearly table to the monthy tables.

  • Missing "Charts, Images, Text Labels" demo from iWorks Numbers page.

Really just an issue with the number iWorks page on the website.
At the address below, Apple has a few watchable demos:
    http://www.apple.com/iwork/numbers/
    Intelligent Tables.
    Flexible Canvas.
    Charts, Images, Text Labels.
    and
    Interactive Print View.
But the hyperlink listed under "Charts, Images, Text Labels." is the same as the one under "Flexible Canvas."
Does anyone have the actual address that takes you to the "Charts, Images, Text Labels." demo?
for reference, here is the address that is duplicated:

    thanks!

  • Iwork numbers will not open

iwork numbers will not open, despite reinstalling the software. Pages & Keynote work fine. Any Ideas?

For Lion 10.7.5: Restart holding down Command R. Click on Disk Utility. Select your HD. Select Repair Disk Permissions.
    I haven't had any problems in a long time. I'm running Pages 4.2 & Numbers 2.2.
I don't think there's usually any need to repair permissions with Lion. There were probably some software updates that fixed the problem. I find it helps to shut the computer down at night instead of just putting it to sleep. This has eliminated some freezes I was having with both newer and older computers.

  • IWork Numbers program. I am trying to create a 'Master Table'. The table will be used on numerous sheets, when cells altered on the 'Master' it will show on all sheets using the Master table. Is this a possibility??

    iWORK NUMBERS
I am trying to create a 'Master Table'. This table will be used on numberous sheets, however not all. Items entered into the cells in the Master Table will then reflect in the used sheets that have the Master Table linked.
On the individual pages however, they will be able to be altered purely for that page.
Hope I have explained myself clearly,
    Would appreciate any help,
    Cheers,

    Hi Hilary,
The formula in the Index column of the Main table is:
    E2: =IF(A,MAX($E$1:E1)+1,"")
Fill down to the end of column E.
The Breakout table contains a single formula:
    A2: =IF((ROW()-1)>MAX(Main :: $E),"",OFFSET(Main :: $A$1,MATCH(ROW()-1,Main :: $E,0)-1,COLUMN()))
Fill down and right to fill the table.
For multiple rooms (with different data transfered to each) you'll need a column of checkboxes and a corresponding index column for each room.
The index columns can be hidden.
Contents in individual cells in the breakout tabel(s) can be entered directly, replacing the formula. To retun to the calculated result, select a cell adjacent to the one where text was entered, and drag the Fill control handle (small circle, bottom right of the selection rectangle) to fill the formula back into that cell.

  • Do I need to download and pay for Iwork Numbers App on Mac if I already downloaded it on IPAD

I have Iwork numbers on my Ipad.  Do I need to download and pay again to have it on my Macbook for it to work in Icloud?

iPads have a different OS so its apps are different, and will not run on a Mac computer. Yes you need to buy a Mac OScapable copy for your Mac. Practically all software licenses, regardless of publisher, are for installation on one device.

  • I heard about that when you update to mavericks, the Iwork, Numbers and Keynotes are for free, aren't they?

I want to know if Iwork, Numbers and Keynote are for free when you update to Mavericks?

Only if you purchased iWork or a new Mac from October 2013 onwards.

  • IWork Numbers unable to sync between iPhone & iPad after update to iOS6

After updating to iOS 6 on both iPhone & iPad, iWorks Numbers do not sync as before.

You need to enable iCloud syncing on each device for automatic syncing. On the iPad, go to Settings & scroll way down to Numbers & turn iCloud on.

  • How am i suppose to reallocate memory to iWorks - Numbers?

I have a got a .xlsx file of 300+ MB. When i try to open it with iWork - Numbers, it takes **** lot of time. How am i suppose to reallocate memory to Numbers app? Also, how much memory should i allocate so that it will handle 300+ MB of data?

    Holy crap.
    Here's how I'd proceed:
Try a safe boot (hold down shift and restart) : Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? . If this works, it means that the problem is with some third-party software you have installed.
Try a test user account: Isolating an issue by using another user account .
Boot into your recovery partition (hold down ⌘R at restart until you see the Apple symbol), go to Disk Utility, and repair your hard drive. While you're there, repair permissions too. OSX Tips Using the Recovery HD
Take a look at Activity Monitor (it's in Utilities) and see if something is using excessive amounts of RAM or CPU. Activity Monitor in OS X Mavericks brings significant changes | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews
I just looked at the specs for the new minis; it sounds like you have the 1 TB 5400-rpm drive or the 1 TB fusion drive. Maybe they just aren't up dealing with such a huge excel file, at least not with the type of performance you might want. Maybe replace the drive with a SSD.

  • How to recover IWork Numbers image

I have accidentally deleted the original start page/icon for the Numbers application - the blue image that opens up first thing on clicking the Numbers application, and shoul be tapped to go to templates. I have restored the original iPad settings, but no success in getting the cover image for IWork Numbers. Any solution? Many thanks in advance.
    DT

I don't know if this is where that will be in the Numbers app, but in the Pages app you can go to Setting>Pages>getting Started>Restore. It may work the same way for Numbers.

  • Opening additional tabs on iWorks Numbers

I converted an Excel spreadsheet to iWorks Numbers and I cannot find the additional tabs and worksheets that are on the bottom of Excel. How can I use the other tabs(worksheets) from the Excel document in Numbers. I basically had mutliple worksheets in one Excel spreadsheet. However, when I open that Excel spreadsheet in Numbers, I only see the main worksheet. How do I access the other worksheets that are part of the same file. Thanks for your kind assistance. I am sure the answer is very simple.

  • HT202879 Putting a company logo into iWork numbers V3.2

    Hi There,
    Quick question,
1.) Is there an option in iwork numbers v3.2 to put in images on the header section? Or do we still need to do it manually? It was never possible in the past. Hopefully, they have tweak. Very useful options for organisations who uses iworks.
Hope Apple sees this as an important tweak on their list.
    Regards,.. Steven Goh

    Hi Steven,
    1. I tried the obvious and it didn't work. File > Print... and hover the cursor over the Print Preview display to see the page header. Click in a header section and Menu > Insert > Choose is greyed out. No Dice!
    2. Click on Done to go back to the document. Now Menu > Insert > Choose does work.
I Chose a screen shot (.png) file from my desktop. It landed on the canvas in Numbers:
With the .png file selected, Menu > Edit > Cut (command x)
Click in a header Row of a table and Menu > Edit > Paste
Now resize the cell in Format Panel > Table > Row & Column Size
With a much longer table, File > Print... and in Print Setup side panel on the right, Repeat table headers.
Image is repeated in the table header row on each page.
Not quite what you wanted, but perhaps this will work for you.
    Regards,
    Ian.
With apologies to Apple for using the Numbers icon .
