IWork, Single version or Family Pack Liscencing

Wife bought an iMac along with iWork. We are planning on this Mac to have 3 user accounts. So, will the singe iWork software work with one iMac with 3 user accounts or do I need the Family Pack version?
The Family Pack looks like if you have multiple Macs in your house, you buy that.
Thanks much.

The license states:
One machine - one program.
Several accounts on a single machine require only ONE license (I would be surprised if two beings where able to use the program simultaneously on such a system).

  • How to find out the versions of family pack and mini pack installed?

There are family pack and mini pack for HRMS.
How to find out the versions of family pack and mini pack installed
just by a Unix command or sqlplus Select statement?
    Thanks

you can get the Minipack version of the products by querying fnd_product_installations or ad_patchdriver_minipks, for family packs you need to query through Metalink, OR if you have u driver file which resides on $AY_TOP/discoverer, looks for the minipacks/familypack version in the driver file.

  • Single User to Family Pack

I have purchased and installed a single user version of Leopard... can I convert that copy to a Family Pack, and if so, how?

No, you can't convert a single user license to a family pack. You would need to purchase a separate family pack.

  • Is my Leopard DVD single use or family pack?

I bought Leopard for my laptop many months ago. I want to upgrade 3 home machines from Panther but cannot remember for a facrt whether I purchased family or not. I have the DVD and a manual but it does not say (or show a license key, did I have one of those, perhaps on the DVD case?).
Is there a way to determine if this is family pack from the part number?

What I sent are Apple's order numbers. I have no other information as I do not my Leopard disc with me.
If you remember paying $129 for it then it's not the Family Pak.

  • Upgrade from a single license to a family pack...?

Is it possible to upgrade a single user license for iWork 09 to a family pack? Sorry for posting here, there is no forum under iWork it seems. Thanks for any help.

I think the point of his question is, He wants to remove single user copy from his Mac, install family copy to all of his Mac's, and then possibly resale his single user copy.
I also would like to possibly do the same thing. When I upgraded to iLife '09, I only owned 1 Macbook, now I own 2 Macbooks and I would like to upgrade to family license. When I upgrade can't I resale my single user copy?
Check your licence agreement. If it doesn't prohibit transferring the (single user) licence, then it would seem reasonable to assume you can do so. Being neither a lawyer nor an Apple representative, my advice remains the same as before: This might be a question best answered at an Apple Store or another authorized reseller.

  • Upgrading to Family Pack

I purchased a single-install version of iWork '08 thinking I would install it on only one computer but Numbers is so great, I want to install it on my other two machines. Is there a way to "upgrade" my single-install serial number with a Family Pack serial number?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

This question came up quite a few times after family packs were introduced for iWork '05 a few months after the original release. The answer was "no." But there is a 10- or 14-day return policy on unopened software. You could return the single-license & buy a family pack.
I suggest anyone not sure if they will want a single license or family pack to download the iWork '08 trial & use it before you decide.

  • Single Version vs. Family Pack Version, How to tell which is which?

Other than the box it came in, how can I tell via the software if it is the Single Version or the Family Pack version? (I have iWork '08)

Look at the box for the part number. The marketing part number for the single-user package is MA790Z/A, for the family pack it is MA791Z/A. I do know the family pack box does say it is a family pack. The family pack is 5 licenses within one household. Single-user is one computer, not two computers for one user.

  • IWork 09 Family Pack license

I recently purchased an iWork Family pack for use on my three macs. I would like to allow my niece in college to also use this software. Do I have to mail her the original disk, or is there a work-around, such as a family pack serial number?, She is currently using a trial version of the software.

The license for the family pack says
    C. iWork Family Pack License. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on up to a maximum of five (5) Apple-labeled computers at a time as long as those computers are located in the same household and used by persons who occupy that same household. By "household" we mean a person or persons who share the same housing unit such as a home, apartment, mobile home or condominium, but shall also extend to student members who are primary residents of that household but residing at a separate on-campus location. The Family Pack License does not extend to business or commercial users. You may not make the Apple Software available over a network.
So, unless your niece lives with you when she is not in college, the license doesn't extend to her. She should be able to buy a discounted single or family pack of iWork at her college bookstore or via the online Apple Store for Education.

  • Upgrade single family pack?

I'm leaving Monday on a business trip for which I'll need a spreadsheet on my laptop, so today (Saturday) went to the local Apple Store and bought a copy of iWork '08. I'm working my way through Numbers right now and so far everything is going well.
Just one problem: I wanted to buy a Family Pack so I could also install it on my desktop Mac. But they were sold out of Family Packs - all they had were the single-user version, so I had to buy what they had.
Is it going to be possible to pay the extra $20 and upgrade to a Family Pack? Thanks...

No, there is no upgrade path. A search of this forum probably would have returned several threads on the subject.
You can remove iWork '08 from your desktop Mac & put it on your MacBook/MacBook Pro to remain within the single-user license.
When the Apple Store didn't have the family pack, you could just use the trial version for up to 30 days. You could then order the family pack online & just enter the serial number on your Macs after you get it (this is what I did).

  • Family Pack iWork

I purchased a family pack version of iLife 06 and received a free trial version of iWork 06 which I have installed on both computers. If I decide to purchase the iWork software, will I receive the reduced rate for the family pack (as was the case with iLife) or will I be charged for two full copies?

I purchased the family pack for iLife, and the iWork
DVD was included as a trial version. I can't find a
serial number. The trial version asks me to go online
and buy one, but I want to be sure I'm not
overcharged and at least get a family pack rate even
if I have to pay for the upgrade for iWork.
When you click the Buy button does it offer you a choice of buying either a single copy or a family pack?
If it doesn't offer this choice then just buy the iWork Family Pack thru the usual channels eg an Apple Reseller, Apple Store, etc.

  • How can I tell if my software licence is a Family Pack or Single use?

I need to work out which licence I have as my daughter has a Mac Book.  Her school provided her with iWork but take it off when she leaves in a month or so.  If I have the Family Pack I can load Pages, Keynote etc, but not if I only have Single use.

If you still have the box or electronic receipt you could call your closest Apple Store and give them the serial # or model # and they can check it. Do you remember what you paid? Also, there are no longer any Family Packs with Lion, but I see your sig says Snow Leopard.

  • Family pack vs single user

Is there any difference between the two versions? If I have 2 macs, but use only one at a time can I get the single user version?
By the way I am talking about ilfe

So does a family pack give you multiple serial numbers or something or is it just a generous upgrade to licencing conditions for a nominal fee?
To be honest for the extra money, seems like a no-brainer to get the Family Pack if you have more than one Mac.

  • How to load iwork family pack cd to macbook air

I purchased a cd family pack iWork'09 loaded on macbook pro, but not sure how to download to Mabook air

First, you need to make sure it has more than one license, which gives you permission to install it on multiple computers.  If it is a single user license, you can not install it on another computer, that is illegal.  You need to buy an external drive that reads cd's/dvd's.  Here is an example: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC684ZM/A  Hope this helps

  • IWork Family Pack

Hello all... am just coming to realize that APPLE has misleaded me into buying a Family pack licence that can actually never be used...
The FAMILY definition for APPLE is not what is in the dictionary or in any customary use... it is infact an HOUSEHOLD licence, and not a family licence:
The installation is apparently (after 1 hour research of the activation code on internet and after 59 minutes on the phone with APPLE customer care) possible ONLY using the original DVD disc that shipped it... this since it was not an ONLINE order...
So when I have to install on a Mac Air that has NO drive and is NOT on the same network it's been confirmed IMPOSSIBLE from the APPLE staff on the phone.
Same goes for my FAMILY that at the moment resides some 12.000 KMs away...
Doesn't it sound like "Ehhhmmm... you got SCREWED!!!!"
This is just the tip of the iceberg of one of the worst consumer experience... after decades long of MAC user, MobileME, and multiple machines...
Very very upset... and at the moment NO SOLUTION to my issue... if anybody has ran in the same issue please share, and if you have a solution I'll be very happy to know it.
    Thanks.
    Giorgio

    Thanks.
I'm on the phone with APPLE they are telling me that since they shipped the DVD they have fulfilled their duties and my customer contract...
And it is simply UNLUCKY that my version of this Software is the ONLY one in the last 5 years that cannot be re-installed through the internet but need the DVD to be installed... without any ACTIVATION KEYCODE.
When I asked APPLE how this is possible I was answered:
    "you know sir, technology evolves..."
To which I replied: there is no evolution since 5 years ago I purchased my first copy of iWork and was simply an activation code to un-block the expired trial version... which is the same thing you can do now sinde the DO NOT SHIP the DVD anymore, just a CODE and you download your softare how many times you want provided you can activate it on 3 or 5 different machines, identified through the internet through their MAC Address and serial number...
I'm still holding with APPLE... they have no further reply to this and now are trying to find out how I can access the software when the ONLY DVD stops working, for god knows what reason...
