Iwork won't launch on new laptop

Bought a MacBook Pro 17" running mac OS Lion 10.7.5. I use iWork a lot, I have the Family Pack, however, after reinstalling from my DVD discs and updating to the most current version, none of the iWork programs launch properly and none can open an existing file nor can they create a new file. Message just says that the cannot be opened. The template chooser doesn't load at startup either. Does anyone know what I'm missing here.

Remove the iWork set completely, use a remover application such as Appcleaner which is freeware:
Appcleaner Download
reinstall using the DVD
if this works, I suggest do not update iWork beyond 9.2  the latest update is causing some difficulties for some users.

    My hard drive was failing so all files were backed up to an external hard drive (don't know what method - the Mac store did it for me) then moved to the new hard drive. Now the iWork apps won't launch. Doesn't matter which account I use and makes no difference if I boot in Safe Mode. I've updated iWork and still no difference. The icon flashes a couple of times on the dock, then disappears. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    When you say you updated iWorks are you talking about the update a few days ago? How about just reinstalling the applications?

    I'm a developer I just bought a new laptop running Windows 7 Professional Service pack 1. I downloaded Firefox 11.0 and downloaded and installed the Adobe Flash plugin! I’ve tried just about everything to get the plugin working but Firefox tells me I have an old version and has turned it off for security reasons. I have included the Flash registry settings and the Flash install log. Dell install a version of flash but it looks like the ActiveX not the Plugin Dll. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and Flash many times it still won’t work. Firefox is no good to me without this plugin. Any help would be appreciated.

    I would have tried new installation but unfortunately don't have access to the original media installed from an electronic download. All I want to do is moving all applications from an old 13" MB Pro 10.6.8 to a new 10.8.5 and make sure they run within the new system before cleaning up the old one. Any idea what the specific problem is with InDesign since all other applications are running smoothly?

  • FCP won't launch on new Mac Pro Tower

    I just got a new Mac Pro Tower and installed Final Cut Studio, but Final Cut Pro won't launch. It just hangs on the opening splash screen and I can't even force quit out of it. Same thing happens if I try to open an FCP project. I have run all the updates, trashed prefs, etc.
    Any ideas?

    OK....so I think I found the problem even though it makes no sense to me. It seems that if I have my DVCam deck (which is connected via a 4-pin firewire to 9-pin firewire cable) powered on while I try to launch FCP, it causes FCP to hang on the splash screen. If I turn the deck off, and launch FCP, it launches perfectly.....and it continues to work after I power the deck on. Very bizarre behavior but I have tested it about 5 times now and it works fine when the deck is powered off and hangs when the deck is powered on. Anybody else have a simliar issie?

    As i wrote my crystal ball is not working well on this.  I can not tell if you have installed Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop application which is used to Install Photoshop creative cloud versions Or that you downloaded the Photoshop direct installer without using Adobe Download Manager. You write PS goes immediately into an error and shuts down.  You do not include what the error is. You do not show Windows Reliability History PS crash report.

    I just got a new laptop and I am unable to sync my Palm Z22 with windows vista 64 bit.  My computer keeps saying I need a device driver installed but it can't find it.  I did read some of the other threads but am still confused.  My laptop is bluetooth compatible but my palm is not.  Is there a way to make my Palm bluetooth capable?  Or any other way for the device to sync?

    Because the Z22 has neither Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (and has no way to add either, because it lacks an expansion card slot), the only way to Hotsync your Z22 to a Vista 64-bit computer is with Infrared (IR) beaming.  That means you will need to buy an IR adapter for your computer.  I don't have direct experience in making it work, but this thread discusses how:

  • Apps Won't Sync Onto New Laptop

    Whenever i download an app on to my new laptop it will not sync onto my ipod touch. When i plugged my ipod into my old laptop the sync message said " syncing ipod, step 1 of 4 ", on the new laptop it says " step 1 of 1 ".     Can you transfer your purchases from your ipod to your new computer? Before you connect,make sure autosync is turned off in iTunes/Preferences/Devices.
    You can only sync to one computer at a time. Connecting to another iTunes will erase the content of your device and replace it with the content of the new iTunes library.

    I installed iTunes 9 on a Windows 7 laptop. After installation, I tried launching it and it doesn't appear. It's in Task Manager, but never shows on screen.     If iTunes.exe appears on the processes tab and persists although iTunes doesn't open, it suggests that iTunes is hanging during satrt up.
    Bonjour is a common culprit so try stopping the bonjour service in "Services". If that allows iTunes to launch, you can disable the bonjour service although you will lose some network functionality.
    If that's not it, try:

    As if Adobe's issues with my new Mac Pro weren't enough, I can't even get Premiere Pro 2014 to launch on my 2 day old, top of the line laptop. I searched this online with no answers in the forums on either this site or Creative Cow.
    Everything is updated. Freshly installed Premiere Pro CC 2014 via the Creative Cloud App. When I launch the App, I get the initial screen with the beach ball and it never opens. My Macbook Pro's fan goes haywire, and no other apps will work (including activity monitor). I have to manually hold down the power button & force shutdown every time.
    I was going to finish up some edits at home over the weekend, but now I have to go back to the office on Sunday & work on my other troubled system. Sooooooooo over these issues with Premeire Pro. Help?

  • IPod nano won't sync in new laptop

    Hello everyone,
    my 6th generation 8GB iPod Nano won't sync in a new Windows 8 (not upgraded to 8.1) laptop. iTunes recognizes it and is able to enable disk use but will not sync the music. The computer also recognizes it. It just won't sync, when I press the sync button it seems as if it is going to sync but it stops after a few seconds without synching or changing anything. I already uninstalled and installed iTunes and restarted the laptop and the problem is still there. Also I wonder why iTunes doesn't say that the iPod is synched with another library and if I want to sinc it with the new one since the music my iPod currently has comes from an old laptop that doesn't work anymore so that's why I have my music now in this new computer, but it won't sync and it's frustrating. Any advice? Thank you.

    If you did anything other than install the software (transfer, migrate, etc) then you need to install it properly.
