Iwork won't open on my new mac?

I have recently got a brand new mac and have installed Iwork which i had on my previous computer. I can see the application on my mac but when i double click on numbers or pages nothing happens. From looking at other posts the icons are the old icons- could this mean i have an old version that doesn't work with my computer? I'm not very 'techie' so am finding it hard to understand how to rectify this problem?? the app store says everything is installed and so i presume up to date? I would really appreciate some help from anyone

How did you install them? If drag & drop, that won't do the trick. You should have used the Setup Assistant to migrate from the old to new. You might want to start over. See Pondini's Setup New Mac guide.

  • Motion won't open on my new mac book pro

    I just bought a new MBP and successfully installed final cut studio, when i try to open Motion, i get the typical opening screen that asks if i want to create a new project, open an existing one, etc. When i choose new project, Motion all of a sudden closes. The studio software that I am installing is the old FCP 5.0 (as oppposed to 5.1), everything else (FCP, soundtrack, DVDSP) seem to be functioning fine. Anyone else have a similar experience?

    "fine" maybe, but far from optimal ! are you running them under rosetta? Greg, you need to get the crossgrade to the Universal Binary version, the pricepoint of which, at the moment, is a steal. at the moment you're using your laptop thoroughbred like a donkey ... still, to return to the question, you might want to check the "Get Info" properties of the Motion application ... see if it is flagged to "Open using Rosetta" that may possibly help

    After running the software update on my Imac OS X 10.6.8, my mail app 4.5 won't open anymore, the new one 4.6 won't either. I have tried EVERYTHING I have found on the problem, incl downloading and installing the Mac OSX Upd Combo, the SecUpd2012-004 etc.   Both mail applications ARE in the applications folder...
    I still get the same message:  " It (4.5) can't be used on this version of Mac OS x. Try opening the version of Mail located in the Application folder on your computer...."  
    Please HELP, what can I do?

  • I have just updated to 7.0.1 and suddenly my search results won't open in a new tab

    I have just updated to 7.0.1 and suddenly my search results won't open in a new tab (let alone a new window - something I much preferred in the past) although this option is checked.
    I even installed Tab Utilities Light Options - all of it's options work, but not for Search Bar.
    When I choose one of the search results and want to view several items on that site (let's say a page with some 50 photo's), there seems to be no longer a way to return to the original search result. I have to start from scratch.
    I hope this can be 'mended' because this is utterly annoying.

    Although 6 other people seem to have encountered this problem, nobody has offered a solution yet. Perhaps the following will put some Firefox gurus on the right trail.
    When I said "my search results", I meant the results obtained with Google (standard when installing Firefox). Now I have tried another search engine (Dogpile) and there The tabs do work. Very strange, isn't it ?

    Select your My Book Studio for Mac icon on your Desktop and type Command + i to bring up its Info pane.  Check the formatting.  It should look like this:
    If it's not formatted as such you'll need to reformat it after backing up what's on there now.

    Does the iPod show up in iTunes on the Mac? If not try:

    If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
    Otherwise what happens when you try to sync? Note that you can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. If that is the problem you should go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase and content and setting and set up the iPod on you computer/iTunes library. One content on the iPod does not belong to you.

    What matters is the version of iPhoto you have on the different machines. Can you tell us what they are, and what exact error message you get.

    Close all apps: Double click on the Home button, then swipe up on the mini screens displayed above each open app.
    Reset your device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Silver Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your iTunes will open.

    Stephylei you will want to download the Mac versions of the installation files.  If you purchased the software from Adobe, and choose the download option at the time of purchase, then the download will be available under your account.  You can find more details at Find a download link on Adobe.com.

  • Adober Reader suddenly won't open any PDF files (Mac)

    I had an old version, I downloaded the latest one, upgraded to the newest, even tried taking that one out and downloading an older version. It doesn't matter which version I seem to have, it won't open any pdf files from the web.
    I use a Mac, and Safari. It used to always load PDF files fine, one random place said I had to update it so I did and since then, lately it'd crash and close all Safari windows when loading a PDF or trying to copy something from a PDF. The smart Mac message I have says it could be related to an Adobe Plug in. However, now it won't even load PDF files at all, it always goes to a white page. Nothing happens.
    What do I do?? I can't even save the PDF's as individual files and view then in Preview as an alternative option. It's a link online and normally would work. What happened??

    I have a Mac OS X Version 10.5.8
    I've always used Safari, it's Version 5.0.5 (5533.21.1 if that means anything).
    Acrobat Reader, currently an old version 9.4.0 download. BUT, I had also the 10.0.1 version which also doesn't work. When I had that 10.0.1 version and checked for updates, there was an update (.3 I think?) and I did that and that also doesn't work!
    Why did it suddenly stop working?
    What can I do to fix it ASAP?
    Only with 9.4.0 version I can go to Help and "Repair Adobe Reader Installation" - I click that and the only box I can select is "Adobe PDFViewer Safari Plugin - View, fill-in and collaborate on Adobe PDFs within Safari"  - I click continue and it tells me there's "No missing components detected. Repairs are not needed." The only option is to click "OK".
    With any newer version of Adobe Reader, under Help there is no option to "Repair Adobe Reader Installation". So... I can't even try that with a new version.
    I am at a loss for solutions. Hope someone here can help! Thanks!

    There are several things you can do. My first step would be to repair permissions. If that doesn't work log on as a different user. If all works properly then you have a corrupt preference file (most likely) or a corrupt user font installed in your user Library (less likely). If that doesn't work download Applejack. Have it repair the disk, remove all system caches and user caches. Then have it check all system and user preference files. Remove any preference files that are corrupt. Reboot and see if your system is working properly.

    It looks like a registration screen but I can't maximise it.

    I bought my MacBook Pro (in June 2011) with OS Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.7) and used my Iomega StoreCenter as NAS for may data and timemachine. All ok. Last year I added the Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 to my network for data files and all worked ok.
    I have now upgraded my Mac with OS 10.8.2 and now my problem starts. Time machine is not working neither with my "old" StoreCenter nor with the ix2-200. The Iomega non protected diskfiles show up in the finder and I can connect as guest and use them. However when I want to use Timemachine I got the same above uerror message as dongiulio (German text, because I am using a German system).
    Is there any possibility to get TM running ? What did they recommend to you ?

    Went to open Firefox this morning. It said I should upgrade to the new Firefox. I downloaded as requested. When complete, I tried to open Firefox and it said the new version isn't compatible with my older Mac. How do I get the older version of Firefox on my system and get rid of the new one that won't open??
