IWorks and icloud

I have been syncing my iWork's documents (Numbers and Pages) between my iPhone, iPad and Mac Pro for a quite a while and it has worked great until now. If I edited my existing documents on one of my iOS devices it works fine and if I go to iCloud.com it is updated. However, my MacPro running Yosemite seems to be keeping its own copy of the same files locally. It never opens or saves the documents from iCloud, even though it is all turned on in preferences. I have to believe I'm doing something wrong. This can't just be completely broken on Yosemite.  Any advice? Thanks,

Yes, ios 8 on my iPhone and iPad. Everything on iCloud Drive. ios devices work correctly.  My mac doesnt work. I had chat with apple support and we turned icloud off on Mac and back on. Took over an hour but it finally synced files from iCloud Drive. Seems to work now but I did this before and it stopped working again. We will see if this works better this time.

  • IWork and iCloud don't work with network account

    I am trying to access files that I have saved on my icloud account but when I login with my network account, iWork apps just error when I choose iCloud and it shows me my document folder.  If I login to a local account it works correctly.  I go to open a document in an iWork document and choose iCloud it correctly shows the documents that I have in iCloud.  Is this a server issue or is there something that I am doing wrong.  I do have webdav running. could that be confusing it?

    HI,
    Try repairing disk permissions...
    Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

    No, they are different apps.  The beta one in icloud is for use by PC's as well as Mac's via a web browser and lets users collaborate on documents.  It can't removed.  Just ignore it if you have no use for it.

    The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
    The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
    This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
    If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone.

  • HT204150 Sharing the same iTunes, Apple ID and iCloud accounts.

    Hi
    My wife and I share the same Itunes , Apple Id and Icloud accounts.
    How do we keep our contacts seperate, when we open up or back up on I cloud?
    As we both have I phones, I would like to keep all my work contacts seperate from hers. Also I don't wish to have her contacts loaded on my phone and vice verser.
    Will it mean the I will have to get a seperate apple ID and seperate Icloud account.
    Problem is that all our music and photos are on the one Library, because we didn't have two Iphones before, it didn't matter.
    We would like to keep the same Itunes library to access music and photos, but like to keep everything else seperate.
    Can you please help.
    Regards
    shervhall

    You can continue to share the same ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores (your iTunes account/library), but you need to have separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs to prevent merged data such as contacts.  (You aren't required to use the same ID for purchasing as you do for other services such as iCloud, iMesage, FaceTime, etc.)  The only issue is that photo stream is tied to the iCloud account so when you separate your accounts, you will no longer be sharing the same photo stream.  You can still send each other shared photo streams in order to share each other's photos, but they wouldn't be part of the same photo stream.
    To separate your iCloud accounts, on the device that will be changing accounts, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on the device.  (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your device.)  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The device that will be keeping the existing account will not be effected by this.)  Next, set up a new iCloud account on this device using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to this new account.  At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
    You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the unwanted data (such as deleting the other wife's contacts from your account, and vice versa).  These changes will be reflected on each phone.  When finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them.
    To avoid getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls you also need to use separate IDs for iMessage and FaceTime.  To change the ID for iMessage on one of the devices, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign in with a separate ID (such as the new iCloud ID).  To change the ID for FaceTime on this device, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.

  • How can I create a new folder in iWork on iCloud?

    I learned how to drag and drop individual documents onto the Pages panel of iWork on iCloud.  However, I would like to be able to organize these documents in folders.  I tried dragging a folder onto the Pages panel, but I get an error message saying "Folder Name" can't be uploaded because its file format isn't supported, even though this folder contains only Pages documents.  Is there any way to create folders in order to organize your documents on iCloud?

    Tap and hold a file. When it starts to shake, drag it on top of another file. This will create your folder. By the way, you can't create any nested folders (folders inside of folders).

  • Pages and iCloud issues

    So far I have found the following issues using Pages and iCloud both on iPad and iMac.
    1. I migrated 2 mobileme accounts to iCloud. The pages option to use iCloud would not stay on. This could only beresolved by deleting one of the mail accounts.
    2. Pages froze after editing a document and closing it when there was no internet connection. I had to reboot the iPad.
    3. The user interface for Folders on the iPad and in iCloud>iWork on iMac is extermely poor. On the iPad there is no way of organising documents in a folder or displaying them other than as thumbnails. On the iMac it is not possible to create folders, organise the contents of those created on iPad, or display other than thumbnails.
    If this is Apple's attempt to lure people to Cloud computing then it is not a good start. They should have ported iDisk. I will go back to DropBox.

    Though no one replied to this topic, I'm updating with what I've learned after spending many hours on the phone with an Apple tech rep who had esacalated to engineers.  There is NO solution.  Docs that are out of sync or unretrievable from iCloud or iCloud Drive, they cannot assist with.  They offered to wipe my iCloud Drive account and reset it, but I wanted them to restore it afterwards.  Just a simple, pull the data off, dump it on an FTP server so I can access it. Nope.  No assistance.  Not their problem.  I have to manually pull ALL the files off my iPad's iCloud account, the ones I can get to and go through this insane 6 step process to get to those docs.  Really disappointed with Apple.  Using MS Word on the iPad and though not perfect...at least the Pages docs won't be lost.

  • Word for Mac and iCloud

    I have 30 Word for Mac docs on my MacBook Pro that I would like to access on my iPhone 4 via iCloud.  Do I need to convert them? To what?

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
    You don't have to convert your Word documents to anything, because Pages can read Word documents.
    First, purchase Pages for the iPhone in the App Store, so you will be able to transfer your Word documents. Then, open http://www.icloud.com, log in with your Apple ID, select "iWork" and drag all your Word documents to the window, so they will be uploaded to iCloud.
    Finally, if you have turned on iCloud for Pages in the iPhone, open Pages and you will see your documents in your iPhone

  • The Tug of War Between iTunes and iCloud

    I'm still pretty confused about the apparent power struggle between iTunes and iCloud.  I would naturally think that iTunes takes care of backing up or at least keeping an index of all my purchased songs, movies, tv shows, podcasts, and even ibooks.  And iCloud likewise would take care of backing up my calendar, contacts, any iWork documents I have, and anything else not coverd by iTunes.  The point where it starts to get a little muddy is the apps.  Who stores them?  I can see them in iTunes, but it seems that iCloud will back them up, too.  I even hear that iCloud will back up the multimedia stuff just like iTunes has been doing for a while.
    Is there anyone that knows what the clear delineation of responsibility as to which service backs up what?  Or if not, who can point me in the right direction?  I've been googling this for a while, and I've yet to come up with a satisfactory answer.
    I would think that I'm not the only one who has scratched their head over this.  Thanks in advance for any thoughtful replies on this topic!

  • How to access my iwork through icloud drive

    Could you please tel me how I can access my iwork from icloud drive using an ipad? please!

    You don't need to access iCloud Drive on the iPad because everything that is in iCloud Drive is already on the iPad. iCloud Drive keeps your documents in sync across devices and it can be accessed using a web browser on a computer in iCloud.com. However, as I already stated, there is no need to access iCloud.com on the iPad since everything in iCloud is on the iPad.
    If you insist on trying, identify Safari or any other browser that you have on the iPad as a desktop browser and then you will be able to get into iCloud.com. If your experience is anything like my experience using iCloud,com on the iPad, you will have mixed results at best. I suggest that you just use Pages, Numbers or Keynote on the iPad since those same documents are also in iCloud Drive.
    You can set Safari as a desktop browser by tapping in the url field and then pull down on the favorites screen to get to Request Desktop Site.

  • How to connect documents and icloud ?

    How do i connect documents and icloud?

    You can store iWorks docs on iCloud, but you cannot share them with others.  The old iWorks beta web site let you host files for other remote users to have access to them, and iCloud (at least not now) does not allow that.

  • Is there a french spellcheck in iWork for iCloud?

    i think everything is in the question. I work alot in iWork for icloud and that bug me. I wonder if there any plan to add language in spellcheck or maybe have a french iWork for icloud.

    Bonjour Mathieu,
    You can use the built-in spellchecker (correcteur orthographique) in iPad but first you need to set your iPad to French or to use a built-in French keypad in your apps.
    This is how you do it:
    Method 1: change to International
    Tap Settings on your iPad;
    Tap General in the left column;
    Tap International on the right;
    Tap Language, select Français from the popup and tap Done;
    Wait a little while: iPad will show "Changement de langue..."; it will take about 1 minute. Your iPad is now in "French";
    As you type in French the spellchecker will automatically prompt you for the correct word; for example, if you type "voila une bete degoutante", it will prompt you to "voilà une bête dégoutante". All you do is press the Spacebar every time it prompts you for the correct word. If the word is incorrect, it will be underlined with a dotted red line.
    Method 2: change to a French keyboard
    Tap Settings on iPad;
    Tap General;
    Tap Keyboard on the right;
    In the middle of the page on the right, you will see Keyboards again, tap it;
    Tap on Add New Keyboard...;
    Tap French (you can chose between 3 keyboards, Canada, French or Switzerland) to add any of the 3 keyboards;
    If you wish to have a "French keyboard" on the iPad, you will have to select it by tapping French and tap the right software keyboard, AZERTY, Accented AZERTY or QWERTY (for the French keyboard);
    When you type in Pages or Numbers, tap on the Globe to the left of the Spacebar to select the French keyboard (Français) and, as you type, it will correct the words as previously stated. By tapping repeatedly on the Globe key, you can toggle between the different keyboards you have installed.
    I hope this helps!
    Joyeux Noël de l'Afrique du Sud...

  • Email Word documents to be stored on iWork for iCloud

    Is it possoible to email Word documents to be stored on iWork for iCloud?

    Yes. One way is to download the Word documents and drop them into your Pages for iCloud window (the one where all your files are shown and not a blank word processing page).

  • Logic Boards, Serial Number, and iCloud

    I'm posting this because I want others who run into the same problem to find a solution - I had some difficulty pinpointing why I was having the following difficulties. Hopefully, if you're reading this, my experience will help!
    So, I have two iMacs - one is a mid-2011 model, one is the model before. I upgraded both to Mountain Lion with no difficulties. However, yesterday I began tooling around with iCloud on the newer model, and found that while some iCloud features worked - like Notes and Calendar - others did not, specifically, iWork. I have had no problems syncing files between my iPhone, iPad, and other iMac, so I've been able to retrieve Pages / Keynote / Numbers files with no problems. However, with the mid-2011 model, I was getting just an empty iCloud page.
    I did the basic stuff - ensured that I was signed into iCloud with the correct account, ensured I had fully-updated software, and the like - but still, I was getting no love from iCloud. I searched a few forums and checked out some ~Library folders, but everything looked correct - everything was mirroring my older iMac's setup.
    I initiated a call to Apple and the front-line rep had me create a test admin login to see if there was something wonky with my user file, but the problem persisted. (By the way, talking to a rep on the phone while they initiate a screen sharing program and following their red pointer around was great). The rep quickly bumped me up to a senior person, who investigated more files. And then we hit on the solution, one I didn't think to check out because it was so obvious.
    A few months back this iMac wouldn't boot up, and Apple replaced both the power supply and the logic board. However, the folks at the Genius Bar forgot to "re-serialize" my iMac - the computer was nearly fully functional, but didn't have an internal serial number after the logic board swap. It's like a two-minute step that someone forgot to do.
    I brought the iMac to the Apple Store today and in two minutes they had re-serialized the iMac. When I got home, everything was working as it should - the computer has its original serial number, and iCloud worked perfectly.
    So there you go. If you have some parts of iCloud working, but not others, check that serial number - iCloud uses it for some, but not all, functions. And if you're getting a logic board swap, verify that your iMac has been re-serialized. It'll save you a trip later on.

    Great that you found the solution!
    Make sure you unmark this as a question though.
    Regards!
    Ri-dog
