IWorks Pages Graphics

I have just purchased my Macbook Pro...I am used to using Word as my word processing software, but now have iWorks Pages. When creating documents in Word I can insert graphics from files that are included with the software. I cannot find any graphics in the iWorks Pages software.
Can anyone tell me where to look? Am I searching using the wrong terms (Insert...graphics or Insert...pictures or Insert...images)or do I have to import all graphics/images?

A research in the existing threads with the really cumbersome keyword "paint" would have returned 4 links.

Select the text and delete.
If you don't want text in the box, don't use a text box ie in Shapes there are various shapes. Select one without 'T'.

Can't open com.apple.iwork.pages..alt-document

Just updated my iMac to Mavericks along with from iWork '09 to the newest Pages (5.2), Numbers (3.2) and Keynote (6.2). Somehow the vast majority of all my iWork documents got converted to "com.apple.iwork.pages.alt-document". Nothing but Preview will open them. Same for the Numbers documents. For instance, when I try to open the Pages Document called "Cleaning Requirements", I get a pop-up box that says... "\U201CCleaning Requirements\U201Dcan\U2019t be opened." I've right-clicked on the document and tried to open it with the older iWorks Pages app (4.3) with no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you...

Did any Pages '09 files translate successfully?
Do you still have your original files? You will be much better off continuing working in Pages '09 even if you did not have these problems, Pages 5.2 is a PITA.

My iWork (pages and keynote) are not communicating with the iCloud. I haven't changed anything and all of the sudden there is no sync happening. My iCloud account is fine as i can create documents on my iPad and they appear on iCloud.

However, when i change documents on my mac (documents that are supposed to be in the iCloud), the changes do not sync with my other devices nor with iCloud. Even when i create new documents on my mac and save them to iCloud, all seems okay and i can access them from my mac, however they do not show up in the iCloud and i can't access them with my other devices.
Most recent version of mountain lion updated over a month ago. New iPad in use for over a month.

Spell check function in my iworks pages does not work, how do I fix this?

I have a new IMac (intel) and I am struggling learning to use the ipage part of the iwork suite. There does not appear to be a spell check feature working, since I'm trying to create some new documents, this is a real hassle. And does anyone know how to do a cut and paste of images from the web. I'm doing a presentation, have permission to use the photos and can't get it to work!! sigh I beginning to think I should have paid the xtra bucks and bought the window suite version, at least I know where they hid the bells and whistles in that one.

If there is an image on a website you want to use locally on your computer usually just dragging the image from the web page anywhere on your desktop is enough to copy the image. You can then drag the image from the desktop anywhere you want.
Alternatively you can right-click (or hold down the control key and regular click on the image) on the image and then choose "Copy Image. You can then perform an Edit > Paste into a Pages document for example.

So the "Rename" command is not supposed to work? It is a dead link and crashes Pages.
Where did Pages save the file that I wanted to put into the folder of related documents. Please bring back "save as" or ask where we want the file saved. How else can I find it later?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
iWork has got a version for Mac and another for iOS. You have purchased iWork for Mac, so you can install it for free in all your Macs, but you haven't purchased iWork for iOS.
You have to purchase iWork because the iPhone and iPad use a different operating system than the Mac and there are different versions

External Hyperlink behavior in iBooks ePub created with iWork Pages

I am new at ePup publishing. I'm using iWork pages and exporting to ePub. Things were going great until........
I started playing with the hyperlinks in my ePub book in iBooks. I am doing this with an iPad and an iPod Touch. I'm in iBooks, I click on the link, the Safari browser opens and displays the page. As far as I know, I have to close the browser window to get back to the book. I do this by pressing the home button on the device. Now I have a blank screen. I have to open iBooks again to get back to the book.
This is a bunch of work for the reader of my book, I want them to see a bunch of images. this is awful. It is not acceptable.
Is this an ePub problem or an iBook reader problem? My guess is iBooks but I'm not sure
The system should have the facility to look at the external page within iBooks and press an X button to close it so the reader can continue reading.
So now I'm thinking I will need to go back and insert all the images in my book. I think I will proceed to do this once I know for sure there is no better course of action.
Smart and knowledgeable people, please tell me, is there a better way to let my reader see images without a bunch of button pressing?

iBooks only syncs purchased books. Others must be synced in iTunes.

Printing from iWorks Pages on a HP 2600n printer with OS 10.4

Whenever I go to print from iWorks Pages on a HP 2600n printer with OS 10.4 it does not let me print in black and white. On print, I select color with a slash through it and it says not available for this OS. Does someone know how to get around this or a software update around this.

For your HP printer, make sure you have the newest driver for your printer model & OS. Personally, I'd never have an HP printer - they don't "play nice" with either Pages or AppleWorks.

Scripting Bookmarks & Hyperlinks in iWorks Pages

Am I correct in assuming the AppleScript dictionary for iWorks Pages has no hooks for scripting either bookmarks or hyperlinks?

Yes, it looks that way. Similarly, there's no support for page numbers, page count, date/time, placeholder text, address book fields, or comments.

Iworks pages is not allowing my to type in a new blank document.

I am currently a college student who has reports to write ALL the time. I am use my MacBook Pro for all my school assignments, until recently Iworks Pages has been giving me problems. I click on pages then on blank document and I try to type and nothing shows up. If someone can PLEASEE help me with this problem I would greatly appreciate it. If I am unable to get to another computer to do my assignment I must open a previous assignment and type over it. Thank you guys for your time, I hope someone has an answer for me.

Are you aware of that there are two types of blank documents? Word Processing and Page Layout. You have click on the latter which uses text Boxes for text. Set in the Pages Preferences to automatically open the WP blank template!

stevejobsfan is correct; iwork for ios is free only for new purchases of new ios devices. A good work around (if you have wifi connectivity) is going to the icloud website on your ipad, and working on your document.
A word of caution (the real reason I am responding to your post). If you do a lot of 'formatting' of a document on iwork for mac, and then save it in icloud; you will probably loose most of the formatting you have done (this will be true if you oppen the document in iwork for ios; also) It happened to me, and I did not duplicate the document before saving it to icloud; I lost at least an hours worth of work.

Why is my iWork Pages crashing or slooooow when trying to make a shadow?

After beginning a simple iwork pages project, I entered the font icon to make a shadow and then the program crashed. I repeated the process, it either crashed or slowed to about 20 seconds between responding to commands. I even tried restarting the computer and trying again. Same thing. I was using typeface ARTBRUSH.
