Iworks trail, serial number, new OS

Hello,
I downloaded iWorks trail about one year ago, and got a serial number from my friend. Everything worked fine till I erase everything in macbook (mountain lion) and updated to Marvericks. Did I count for "purchased" the iWorks? cuz I cannot find them in "purchsed" in app store.
It's emarrassing, but thanks for helping out.

Unless your friend sold the serial number to you or gave it to you & deleted iWork from his Mac, no, you don't count as purchasing iWork. That is called piracy.

IWork '08 serial number update help?

Can anyone please tell me if there is a straight forward way to update the iwork '08 serial number from a single user license to a family pack license? There does not seem to be a supported way to enter the new number, even after a re-install. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

It seems that re-installing the package leaves the existing preferences files.
Run this short simple script to remove them.

Just purchased an iWork 08 Serial Number won't work

I ordered an iWork 08 Serial Number Family Pak. Why because I still use OSX.4.11. (an not use iWork09 as my machines are PowerPC. However in trying to enter serial number will not work.
in clicking order details the sent me a serial number for 09. and reading previous information serial numbers are not universal. So I've just wasted $100.00 buying a serial number I can use. trying all the support channels I can find, there appears to be no channel to cover this. If you have a mechanism set up to buy software it should ask and receive information on the version software you are purchasing. Now I am SOL. and wasted a 100 bucks.

I bought the package for iPhoto and such several months ago to reinstall iPhoto on a Computer that crashed. Bought on Amazon.
Ah, that would explain the price, especially if you bought it before iWork 09 was released.
It was a Legit Apple copy, never opened and was able to install with no problem and register with Apple.
Wasn't questioning legality, just wondering why you paid $100 for it? Explained above though.
It came with iWork so I installed tried out. Then I decided to buy the Serial number I though the software was smart enough to detect which software I was trying to purchase.
Hmm, I wonder if the trial version is preventing the serial number from working. Microsoft's Office trial does the same thing. Unless you completely remove all traces of Office from the hard drive, both retail and the trial if you've used it, the retail version won't activate.
I purchased the I package that had iPhoto 08 on it from Amazon. It was unopened shrink Warped and I was able to register with Apple. I need the O8 versions because They still support PowerPC, 09 series are Intel only. That disk also had iWork 08 on it I installed and Then I purchased the Serial Number. I've tried to locate on Apple's website where to write to excange serial Numbers. But can't find it.
Can't say I've ever heard of exchanging serial numbers. The one you have should work. Have you tried calling Customer Service at Apple?

IWork 2005 Serial Number problems on MacPro ...

I installed my registered copy of Keynote and Pages [iWork 05] on a new MacPro. After the initial serial number request each application runs. However subsequent access to either application requires repetitive serial number association. I can't run the applications unless I reinsert the serial number each time they are launched.
I removed all files that were associated with the iLife 06 trial that comes pre-bundled on the MacPro. I can't seem to figure out what's causing this. Anyone have a clue?

I solved the problem. First, I was in fact logged in as admin.
I spent most of yesterday and today migrating over to a new MacPro. The last step was Final Cut Studio. Everything seemed to be stable. The only glitch was this iWork serial issue.
An hour ago I started to work on an audio segment in preparation for distribution on the web. I launched one of my main signal processing plugins, and guess what? Same problem. It would not maintain my registration.
I deleted all preference files for iWork and the Plugin - and ... I repaired permissions . This solved the problem.
It didn't dawn on me to do this, although I guess it should have. I was too caught up in the excitement of getting the new system configured, up, and running.

Installation iWork 06 - Serial Number isn't Valid

Hi
I originally bought my mac in 06, but it was a Monday Morning Mac and after numerous failures, Apple exchanged it for a new in '08. I have just tried to install my old iWork 06 - I had previously uninstalled it from the duff mac and was assured that I'd be able to run it on the new one - and the serial number comes up as invalid.
Ideas?
The serial number is the one on my original packaging.

After the trial expires the iWork applications become "viewers" allowing you to still see any documents. You would not be able to edit, print, etc. There is no absolute need to delete iWork '08, but OS X would always try to open documents with the newer version. So, unless you absolutely need that Numbers document, I would delete iWork '08. Just drag the iWork '08 folder from Applications to the Trash.
If you do have iWork '06 installed, you should be able to just launch one of the apps & enter your serial number. It it doesn't give you that option, go to HD > Library > Preferences & delete the com.apple.iWork.plist, empty the Trash & then start one of the applications again. You should get the splash page with to option to enter your serial number.

Iwork installation/ serial number

We just got a new Mac and we are attempting to install iwork. It installs, but when you go to open it it wants you to enter serial number. However, when you enter serial number it will not allow you to click on continue, only go back. It also says you can buy one online, but we bought it in the store. HELP??

your computer comes pre-loaded with iWork preview.
If your purchase included "iWork" bundled with your computer, you should have a serial number provided.
It must be entered in the exact manner in which it appears on your serial number card, including all digits, letters, and dashes, also with caps enabled.
If this doesn't work, try reinstalling, and try again. If not, you will need to call apple

If you ran the trial version before buying the family pack, you must remove every files related to it.

Invalid Serial Number - new Hard Disc

I experienced that my HD suddenly was completely dead some time ago so I replaced it with a new one. As I had a licence for Adobe Photoshop Elements 10, I downloaded the files and found the serial number at My Adobe. The problem is that the installation doesn't succeed and I get the message that the serial number is invalid. I know for a fact that I have written it correct. What may be the reason for this? As the HD is dead it is impossible to deactivate it there...

You need to contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues. They can manage deactivating the original installation and they might be able to deal with the serial number problem as well if it persists. You should check to make sure you downloaded the same version as the one you own.

How to find my FCE serial number / new Hard Drive

I recently replaced my hard drive and I had my serial# written down on my install disk but it did not work when I tried to re-install. On my external drive I found a Final Cut Express system id showing the product registered to me. There are some characters that look like a serial number but they do not work either. Most likely I never registered FC, so I am not sure if calling Apple will help.
Anybody know where I could locate the serial number that may be hidden somewhere on my external drive?

Thanks for the replies. The serial# stickers are gone. I had written the serial numbers on the disk and they did not work when trying to install. I must have written the numbers down wrong which I find strange b/c I am ususally very careful.
Since I installed a new HD, FCE is not on this new hard drive and no way for me to launch to get the serial#. On an external drive I found the system id file, but no luck there either.
Any other ideas how could I get this done without buying FCE again?

IWork 06 serial number buy online

Anybody else seen this? iWork 06 came installed on the MacPro. When I launch it, the dialog asks for Try/Buy and says you can buy a serial number online. Clicking on Buy Now brings up Safari with an error:
Safari can’t open the page “” because it cannot redirect to locations starting with “(null):”.
Going to the Apple Store reveals only shipping versions. Which I bought, but there's no serial number, they're shipping a box.
Does anybody have the direct link to the Apple store where I can buy a serial number?

How can I get my serial number aftert my drive crashed?
I looked up the order online at the apple store and there is no serial number. What to do?

If you don't have a hard copy of your serial number, you'll likely have to call the Apple Helpline at 1-800-275-2273 to get it. Once you do, you might think about writing it down.

Can't find iWork Serial Number after 'Genius' reset MAC OS X?

So my Mac somewhat crashed last week (could not sign in) and the Mac Genius guy downloaded a new MAC OS X software program.
He told me to click-and-drag my previous files [Macintosh HD..., Previous Systems..., 2008-03-27_1212] and now when I try to open iWork 08', *it wants my serial number.*
*But I don't know where my iWork 08' serial number is? Can anyone help!!??*

I believe you mean the genius reinstalled Mac OS X.
The iWork serial number is stored in HD > Library > Preferences & it was likely lost in the crash as it's not part of the system. You will need to find the card with the iWork serial number that was in the original box. If you purchased the serial number online you should be able to find in by going to the Store tab at the top of this page then click on Account (at the upper right of the page under the Search box), then Downloadable software purchases & log in.
