IWorks update did NOT deleted the old versions

Hello folks,
I did the iWork free upgrade using the Mac App Store, it removed the old icons from aplication's folder and launch pad.
But I noticed that my Dock Icons were keept unchanged, and for my surprise they do launch the old version of the applications!
And everytime I launch the old versions they alert me about the new version and ask me if I want to update, if I do, it tries to download
the new version again!
Besides alerting apple of this bug, I would like to remove the old versions, how should I proceed ?

The idea that keeping the old versions were a "feature" and not a bug crossed my mind too.. Specially after noticing all the iOS version compatibility warnnings showed after launching the new versions..
And I must correct myself, the update did remove the old icons from LaunchPad, but not the iWork'09 folder inside applications, I just missed it cause I was looking for the icons and not a Folder.

iTunes is not installing because its incompatible with your OS. When installing the correct version the new version will update the older version, there is no need to uninstall first.
The last version of iTunes compatible with OSX 10.4 is iTunes 9.2.1

2014 update did not uninstall the previous versions

When I got the 2014 updates, none of the installs deleted the previous version. In addition people are complaining that if you uninstall the previous version by hand, then the new version fails to work correctly. What Adobe has done here is very confusing, and I would like a better explanation than I'm seeing.

The new Pages-Numbers-Keynote updates did not remove older versions. Delete them myself I guess?

WAIT! Before you delete the old versions (which should be in a folder named: "iWork '09", I would strongly recommend that you KEEP the old versions around for a while.
Apple has stripped out a lot of functionality from the new iWorks apps, basically dumbing them down to be more compatible with the more limited iDevice versions. I would keep the old versions around indefinitely because you may find that they have some functionality that you want that the new iWork apps don't have.

I dragged it to Trash and when it started to move I clicked over to the new hard drive to confirm it had indeed been copied. I became nervous when I didn't see among the few files on this otherwise empty new hard drive anything that resembled a 280GB Library so I cancelled the migration to trash.
How can I be sure that my iphoto has been copied and that all my "metadata" survived in tact?

I thought the new drive would be your data drive to host the iPhoto library. Do you also use it for TimeMachine backups?
I am unable to search either in email as well as Finder. I AM able to search within iPhoto though, thankfully
Spotlight may still be busy rebuildig its index.
You could try to rebuild the Spotlight Index, if you do see no progress:

Due to NAS issues, when I started a new time machine backup it did not have the old backups available. My question is do I need to delete them or will time machine automatically reclaim the space? Only one Sparse Bundle, same name.

There is only one sparse bundle but when I enter time machine I don't see my historic backups. I use a synology DS212 for my time machine. Started a new backup which is 218gb but it says 618 gb is occupied therefore it looks like 2 or 3 backups are still on the disk. Before my NAS issues the last backup was in 2014. As you can see there is a second sparse bundle from 2012. Not sure what that is.

This is an old message now, but what happened to me similarly was:
I had a major computer crash and through complicated pathways ended up reinstalling (Mavericks) as a new user (long story).
At least I had good Time Machine backups on an NAS drive (Synology DS212j), or so I thought - when I started Time Machine up again, the old backup file was gone, replaced by a new one using my "new computer" name. The old file was gone both by directly mounting the NAS drive and by clicking "Enter Time Machine".
It's like I had {OldShareName}.sparsebundle and then it was replaced by {NewShareName}.sparsebundle, all of the old info vanished.
(I have spent a week finding old files elsewhere and have completed a satisfactory self-restore. It pays to "archive" [my own variation of] as well as "back-up".)
My belief is that if this were a wired-netword-drive, e.g. plugged right into my iMac with a USB cable, then the old file would have remained.
But this is an NAS drive, connected directly to my Airport wireless router, and I don't know the significance of the fact that it stores its Time Machine backups as "sparsebundle" files rather than simply as plain(er) files.
As usual when things get complicated with computers (not just Apple computers) there was never a warning message. Something like "YOU'RE ABOUT TO DELETE A TIME MACHINE BACK-UP FILE!!!" would have made my life a lot simpler.
BTW, I did try a "restore from Time Machine" option the first thing I had my "new computer" (old hardware, 2009 iMac) up and running, using Migration Assistant, and it ran for many hours and then failed in the wee hours - what that has to do with anything I'm not sure.
I'm not sure that I have a question about this other than "why do these things happen to me?", but it's a warning. Apart from that I've been very happy with the stability and reliability (but not the cost or set-up complexity) of NAS vs. directly-cabled external drives.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Lightroom 2.4 update did not delete 2.3

I now have 3 installation of Lightroom, because the 2.3 and 2.4 updates did not delete on uninstall the prior program. I am concerned that if I uninstall both 2.0 and 2.3 at this point, I could be deleting important shared files, particularly important metadata, scripts, and catalogs!
What is going on? Please advise.

Not to worry. Each iteration of LR is a full and complete application. I think it's a good idea to delete or at least zip previous versions. It's best to stick to one version, the latest.

If, after reinstalling the update, you still can't use Safari, hold Command and R keys while your computer is starting and reinstall Lion or Mountain Lion

Should I delete the old version after downloading the newest version?

It's the same as almost every other Mac app, quit it and drag the new version into the same folder(usually the Applications folder) as the old one and it'll overwrite it preserving the preferences as it does so.
Though It should have done this itself via the auto update function in firefox.

Trying to dowload the latest version of itunes and I get a message that it can not remove the old version

A window pops up when I try to install that says the old version of itunes can not be removed contact tech support. Then another window pops up that says the feature you ar trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select anyiTunesentries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

I downloaded the new Firefox for my Mac and it won't open. I deleted the old version. What am I doing wrong?

I can't get firefox to open now that I erased the old version and tried to install the new version (6.0.2) on my Mac. I was hoping I could update it and have my bookmarks and everything intact, but when I drag the firefox symbol into my dock it won't do anything after downloading. I have put it in the trash to delete it and re-downloaded it, but nothing seems to help. On top of it, the fan on my computer goes on when I am trying to get firefox to work ????

as I’m using a Mac so I have download the file with .dmg extension, which is the one that currently doesn’t work.
I also tried to download the .exe one, but as expected when I double click on it, I have an error message that confirmed Windows is not supported.
