Ix4-300d - unable to joint the domain

Unfortunately when I came into work today, our ix4-300d wasn't allowing us to get into the web interface(attempted after we noticed that our nightly backups wasn't completed successfully the last 2-3 nights). Lenovo's tech support had us do a factory reset on the device and then we were asked to update the firmware on the unit to 4.1.108.32627.
Now I'm unable to connect us back to AD to reset all of the permissions for everything. The unit doesn't seem able to sync with the NPT server which is also the DC, DNS, DHCP, and file server. I had the correct IP address in for the time server but I turned it back on auto detect since the unit was giving me a sync error. I had also changed one of the two NIC within the Network interface to the same IP, subnet, and Gateway it had prior to this issue. I left the other NIC set to auto to ensure I could still get in the web interface. When I ping the IP I received from the auto-generated IP, I get a successful ping, but when I ping the IP address that was manually set, it Times out.  At one point I had both NICs set to auto so it could just grab an available IP from the DNS and pinged the name FQDN of the device, it was still trying to ping the old IP address.
 should state that the one that had originally set this all up has left the company and they stuck me on this assignement since I was/am "the most qualified" to get it fixed. Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated.
Unfortunately tech support cut our conversation short because they are stating that I never registered my product(which is a bit unlikely knowing the one that set this up) and this apparently cut our waaranty down to a 1/3 of the time that was advertised. Little upset with that aspect of the situation to say the least, but I'm hoping this community could assist where the Lenovo techs couldn't..

Sorry that you are having issues configuring the unit.  Regarding the warranty status, if the device is showing up as having an expired warranty we can still provide assistance via email and forums.  If the status is incorrect, the lenovo registration team should be contacted from emails here.
Regarding the issue you are experiencing,  please double check that the steps for connecting the unit to Active Directory are being followed, search for "Configuring Your ix4-300d Network Storage to Use Active Directory" in the updated user manual for the ix4-300d.
If you are still unable to connect the unit to the domain, please double check your network configuration's from before the firmware update are still valid.   An email should have been sent out to you after the call with support,  use that to send a email reply with logs, screen shots, etc that could help with narrowing down what the issue is.  
If you could also PM me your incident number I could keep watch on it for updates from you.

    The directory is a replica of our production dir - and runs on our testmail.school.edu box along with all (or most) of Comms Suite 7. Accounts have addresses like [email protected] I have used testmail.school.edu as the default domain in the configuration steps for each application.
    If I add an associatedDomain with the value "school.edu" for o=school.edu (under o=school) in addition to the existing sunPreferredDomain and associatedDomain values which are testmail.school.edu, the error goes away - but IM doesn't work unless I login with a uid like "[email protected]" instead of just "me".
    If I do not have an associatedDomain of "school.edu" for o=school.edu (under o=school), I can login with uid me - and everything works - but that error is there.

  • Could not provision the RemoteApp collection. Error: Could not join the domain. Unable to reach the domain.

    I am trying to set up an Azure RemoteApp Hybrid solution.
    I have created RemoteApp net and uploaded a custom image and all that is fine.
    When I link my template to my Collection it fails after provisioning for about an hour.
    I recive the following message: Could not provision the RemoteApp collection. Error: Could not join the domain. Unable to reach the domain.
    The join domin works fine and I have tryed with account with different lvl of access to my AD.
    Any suggestion how to solve this?

       I am landing into the same Problem and i read your guidance on this issue. Let me answer it point by point. 
    1. Check the VPN state to ensure it is active or connected state:
    Sundesh:My Azure RemoteApp Virtual Network after successfull S2S configuration shows as Ready. Is that what you mean by Connected State? Earlier to S2S, it was just under connecting state.
    2. Verify your VNET configurations have proper IP address ranges
    Sundesh: The VNET address range, the Local address range and DNS has already been verified twice. In fact the same address ranges(with exception to VNET) are working fine on a VENT config on Azure VM instance. Verified.
    3. Verify your DNS IP configurations are valid, (often this is the problem)
    Sundesh: Yes its done and verified
    4. Verify the credentials entered for domain join are valid.
    Sundesh: Tested these credentials by joining a regular Azure VM to domain and it works there.
    5. Make sure your VPN endpoint that Azure RemoteApp service is connecting to is not blocking traffic.
    Sundesh: Can you please let us know the specific port numbers that we need to consider and i can have it checked with the Network team

  • I'm unable to use the domain with a .uk domain suffix with 2012 essentials

    I'm trying to link a domain I wish to use in office 365 to the essentials server but I receive "The domain name is not valid"when going through the "link domain to Office365" wizard, I also receive the same error when running through
    the anywhere access wizard, but I expect fixing one would fix the other.
    The domain in question is using the .uk domain which is a fairly new TLD
    I have tried the solution proposed here:

    My advice would be to use the free *.remotwebaccess.com domain name with the RWA wizard, and then setup a forwarder on your custom domain to the RWA page.

    Hi, I'm trying to setup a demo environment. I guess VPN is working fine because i can see traffic. And also DNS. I even tried using a domain administrator account, so there is no problem with the account.
    When i first created a app collection the wizard complained about using domain.local so i tried domain.com and it worked. Later i want to change back to domain.local because domain.com is only a domain suffix and not my real domainname.
    Any tips and tricks I can check to get this working?

    Well... This was embarrassing. A typo in the network config. Problem solved.

  • IX4-300d - UPS, not showing in management, but sends messages if I connect and disconnect

    Just acquired a iX4-300d, and updated to the latest firmware (4.1.104.31360).
    On trying to link a UPS (a KSTAR BM-3080) - the UPS Management page just shows "Status: None Connected"
    BUT -  in the EVENT LOGS panes I get the following message:

    4462          An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) has been recognized.
    and if I unplug the USB connector between the UPS and the iX4-300d - the message
     Event
    4463
    The Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) has been removed.
     is shown ----- Surely if it sees a UPS is connected it should show one in the UPS Managment page, of not then why does it show in the Event log console.
    ALSO:
    Given that the iX4-300d seems to recognise a UPS has been connected - is there some way to update/replace or even get to the code related to this UPS mmanagement section,  so I can get readings from the UPS, thus enabling a 'smart shutdown' when the battery drops to say 10% remaining?
    (Could it not be just a "Plug in" that allows smarter people than me to enter the UPS I/O values and make it work with a wider range of UPS devices.
    Additionally - so far I havn't seen a list of "Approved UPS", just a note about some UPS systems that do not work.)

    I've tested this with an  ix4-300d and APC smartUPS 1500 ( which is not on the list of compatible UPS ), but it is working exactly as you wish. Somewhere around 15% battery the device will shut down.
    Give it a try....
    B.T.W You may test the notification functionality by unplugging ups main supply. If properly configured this event will shouw up in the log and NAS will sent notification mail ( + another mail when mains are recovered)

  • Thumbnails missing ix4-300d after firmware upgrade

    Eeverything was working well until the upgrade. I am using a WDTV live and the Ix4-300d together and accessing the NAS via media server on the WDTV. Tried restarting both and checking for updates but the WDTV has no thumnails anymore. I am not a techy but am stumped. Any suggestions

    same issue here. i plan to finally call into Lenovo support on this; really annoyed w/the last firmware update. wish i woudl have just stayed on the prev version.

  • Unable to join the network "blank"

    So I updated to iOS6 on both my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 right after one another at work. After the update, when I click on the network I usually connect to on my phone at work and type in the password and click join, it pops up with a message saying "unable to joint the network "ch!ro". The strange thing is, it connects to other networks (aka my home network) but just not my work network. Another strange thing: my iPad connected to it just fine and continues to connect to it fine. I have tried many things including turning my phone on/off, resetting the network settings, doing a hard reset on the phone, doing a hard reset while in airplane mode, turning it on/off in airplane mode, turning it on/off with cellular data turned off, hard resetting with cellular data or wifi turned off and on, then trying to connect, resetting my router and my modem (which ALL other devices and computers are having no trouble to connecting), and a few other suggestions I've found online, but none of it works. I keep getting that same message after typing in my password (and yes its the right password before anyone suggests that I make sure its right - i confirmed by forgetting the network on my iPad and typing it in again - and it worked!). If anyone has any other suggestions or has a similar problem, please comment below. My thinking is if enough people raise a stink about this, apple will hopefully fix it soon. Because my data plan is only a 1 GB / month, and it's going to get eaten up quickly without wifi connectivity.

    I have the same problem.
    Try to connect with the AP at 1 meter of distance and it works fine.
    But try to re connect at 5 meters and the problem returns.
    Clear, this a IOS bug.  And there is no patch for the moment

  • Unable to unjoin a domain

    we are unable to log on to a reinstalled network machine.
    when we try to log on we get the following error.
    Windows cannot connect to the domain, either because the domain controller is down or otherwise unavailable, or because your computer account was not found. Please try again later. If this message continues to appear, contact your system administrator
    for assistance.
    let met paint the picture: a defective machine was reinstalled with a sysprep, after doing so we wanted to rejoin the domain wich we were able to do. after joining the domain we found our machine in active directory and Altiris.
    But when the user wanted to log into the network he was unable to do so (look above warning mentioned)
    i tried to unjoin the domain but with the local admin account i am unable to unjoin the domain.
    Access denied????
    We are using win xp machines and 2003 servers
    can anyone advise on how to use the machine again in the domain?
    At this point we are close to reinstall the machine harddrive again and try again. But it must be more simpler way to solve this problem?

    I have  two NIC on my server2 - joined to domain as domain member  ( NIC are public (internet) and private (local net) )  Now they both are in NetworkCategory - DomainAuthenticated.

    Hi, the topology of th network ist the next:
    ISP (DATACENTER) ->  SRV1 (phisical) +  SRV2 &SRV3 (virtual) 
    Every one of them have 2 NIC  ( for server  2 and 3  - virtual  too)  
    NIC1 - operates on private level -  192.168.1.1 dns, gate,dc (srv1)
    NIC2 - real ip address, gate - gateway of ISP  dns - 192.168.1.1
    When set up NIC1 - everything is ok .
    NIC2 - action is : set ip and mask - enable without gate  - then it is in unidentified status  and  go in public state.
    disable nic2, set up gateway  - and dns - 192.168.1.1  and again enable - everything is ok
    But after restart  - nic2 - goes again in Domainauthenticated mode. :(
    Additional:
    On srv2 - i put RRAs role and smthing stange is that after enable rras service - all ports are shutted and machine pretendet to be invisible.

    I have the IX4-300D with 4 hard drives (identical Seagate drives) using RAID 5.
    Someday a hard drive will fail and I and I have to replace it. I read through the users manual briefly and I didn't see any documentation on how to perform a hard drive replacement and not lose any data.
    So here are my questions:
    1) I know per the instructions that Lenovo prefers using identical hard drives. Let's say in 2 years, 1 hard drive fails. Most likely, the same model Seagate hard drive will not be available. So will using a replacement hard drive by the same manufacturer with similar specifications work?
    2) Will the front panel (or the software) tell me which hard drive has failed?
    3) What is the proceedure for replacing a hard drive after a failure occurs? I read that the IX4-300D is not hot-swappable. So do I just power the IX4-300D down, replace the hard drive, and turn it back on?

    Hi exceptionalht,
    It is best to replace the hard drive with one that is the same manufacturer, rotational speed, and capacity, so it does not have to be exactly the same model.
    The front panel should show which drive has failed. If not you can check the web interface to find out.
    That is the basic procedure for replacing a hard drive. You can see a more detailed instructions here: Installing hard drives in an ix4-300d

  • Error (2931) VMM is unable to complete the request. The connection to the VMM agent on the virtualization server (host.domain.local) was lost.

    Experts,
    kindly advice for this error when create vm from a templates, while i'm not having this issue when create the vm to another host from the same templates,
    firewall is disabled and no antivirus on the host.
    The network and the ping is very stable, and the WS-Management service is running on the host,
    Host  : windows server 2012 R2
    VMM : 2012 R2 3.2.7895.0
    VMM updated from RU2 to RU5
    Error (2931)
    VMM is unable to complete the request. The connection to the VMM agent on the virtualization server (host.domain.local) was lost.

    Recommended Action
    Ensure that the Windows Remote Management (WS-Management) service and the VMM agent are installed and running and that a firewall is not blocking HTTPS traffic.
    This can also happen due to DNS issues. Try and see if the server (ms-lab-01.eccsolutions.local) is reachable over the network and can be looked up in DNS. You can ping the virtualization server from VMM management server and make sure that the
    IP address returned matches the IP address locally obtained from the virtualization server.
    If the error still persists, restart the virtualization server, and then try the operation again.

    Ok  I will try another template,
    and the drop happen in the customization after deploying the VHDX file as my first image.
    I had this answer from partner forum. but i didn't try it yet
    Backup your VMM database and then check the
    tbl_VMM_Lock table in the
    VMM database to see if it has any locks listed, do this after stopping the System Center Virtual Machine Manager Service.
    If there are locks listed in the tbl_VMM_Lock
    table you can clear them by executing the prc_VMM_ReleaseAllLocks
    stored procedure.

  • Unable to load the specified offline registry hive when rejoining the domain

    I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 Ent member server that we needed to clone. So we removed it from the domain, cloned it, and when we went back to join it to the domain it we get a error:  
    The Following error occurred attempting to join the domain:   Unable to load the specified offline registry hive. Please ensure you have access to the specified path location and permissions to modify its contents. Running as an elevated administrator
    may be required.
    There is nothing in event viewer and no other error message then this. I can look at my domain controller and i do see a computer object is created but its like the member server either never gets the message that its done or it can't write to the registry.
    I've disabled the firewall. I've tried to verify permission in regedit, to the best i know, and i still get this error.
    We have also tried multiple local user accounts, multiple domain admin accounts, renamed the server, changed the workgroup its in. even ran a few registry cleaners.
    Nothing works.  I need help since this server has to be online 6am Monday morning.

    Hi,
    To add the local administrators in the User Rights assignments
    1) Start>Run>gpedit.msc
    2) Computer Configuration>Windows Settings>Security Settings>Local Policies>User Rights Assignments
    3) Double click  on Back up files and directories and add the Administrators.
    4) Double click  on Restore files and directories and add the Administrators.
    5) Close  the window and reboot the machine.
    6) Try to add the machine to the domain.
    If  the issue persist, Reset the security database.
    1) Open MMC
    2) Add Security Configuration and Analysis tool
    3) Right click Security Configuration and Analysis in the left pane
    4) Select open database
    5) In the new database, type in secnew.sdb, click ok.
    6) Select setup defltbase.inf as the template to import from C:\Windows\inf, click ok.
    7) Rightclick Security Configuration and Analysis in the left pane again
    8) Select configure computer
    9) Reboot the machine.
    10) Try adding the machine to the domain.
