IZ0-047 vs. IZ0-047

Hi!
I've been doing some research on how to become a Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate. One of the ways to achieve this is to pass IZ0-047 Oracle Database SQL Expert + IZ0-047 Program with PL/SQL. What I don't understand is:
How is it possible for two exams to have the same number (IZ0-047)? Is this actually just one exam?
I saw that there is a book for this exam, but it only covers the Oracle Database SQL Expert exam, so this also left me wondering. How could one prepare for  Program with PL/SQL?
I tried Googling the difference between the two, but nothing came up. Sorry if this is has already been resolved, I couldn't find it.

HI,

  • IZ0-047  and  Oracle '12c'

    Hello,
    According to this article http://www.computerworlduk.com/news/applications/3361449/oracle-12c-database-set-for-december-or-january-release/
The new version of Oracle '12c' is scheduled to be released on December this year or January 2013...
I just wanna know if the IZ0-047 : SQL Expert will still be valid for the new version of Oracle?
    your thoughts?
    Thanks

I just wanna know if the IZ0-047 : SQL Expert will still be valid for the new version of Oracle? It depends on what you mean by 'valid'. If you are asking whether people certified as SQL Experts will continue to have a valid certification, I guarantee that will be the case. Oracle does not invalidate existing certifications when new releases come out. The SQL Expert certification, like the PL/SQL developer certifications (and unlike the DBA certifications) is not 'versioned'. Someone getting this certification today does not become an "Oracle 11g SQL Expert".
If you are asking whether the content of the SQL Expert test will still be valid for Oracle 12c, the question becomes (slightly) grayer. I have not been following Oracle 12c. I know that it's supposed to be cloudier, but little else about it. It may well contain significant new SQL functionality that should be included in the SQL Expert exam. However, I'm certain that it will not invalidate the information that exists in the current test. Oracle will not abandon ANSI SQL or remove existing functionality. Even if new functionality exists and Oracle decides to add it to a new version of the Expert test, this is unlikely to happen for quite some time following the release and would probably require a new beta exam. In all, a new 12c-enhanced test (if such were even to happen) wouldn't be available until 2014.
I can't see worrying too much about it myself. If you're interested in obtaining this certification, then I would go for the current version rather than waiting on some future update that may not happen for years.

  • Oracle iz0-51 or iz0-47

    Hi,
I have a basic knowledge of SQL an pl/sql so out of these two which certification should i take i am confused..other than exam topics is there any difference....
    EXAM
    1Z0-047
    Oracle Database SQL Expert
    or
    1Z0-051
Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I
sql expert(iz0-47) is for both 10g and 11g???
    thanks in advance

It's really up to you which exam you choose to take. Aside from some differences in the exam topics, I understand there is also a difference in the difficulty level as well. The Oracle Database SQL Expert (1Z0-047) is a much more challenging exam than the SQL Fundamentals I (1Z0-051) version. It's hard to compare the two on any level other than Exam Topics though as I have not taken BOTH exams myself and I doubt you will find many that people that have. Most have only taken one or the other.
For myself, I chose to take (and passed) the Oracle Database SQL Expert exam over the SQL Fundamentals I exam for the following reasons:
    1. I believed it to be a more difficult exam in terms of content and topic coverage. This required that I spend much more time studying and learning the material, and in the end, that helped me to really know the material better. This is what certification is all about anyway right? Learning the material? So not only does this exam being harder make the certification more valuable, but it gives you a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of SQL which can only be good for you.
    2. I am not fond of exams that are not proctored. Being able to sign up for and take an exam from inside your own home, as you can with the Fundamentals exam, seems to leave a lot of room for cheating and flagrant abuse. Thus, I am not a fan.
    3. This exam comes with it's own specialization certification (OCE) and while getting certified is more about learning the material and not as much about just getting the certificate, a little extra paper and an additional title never hurt, right?
While those are my opinions, it really boils down to your own personal preference. How comfortable are you with SQL? How hard are you willing to study to learn the material? Are you in it to learn the material or simply to cruise through and get your certifications done as fast as possible (I hope not...)?
Either exam will fulfill the criteria as your SQL test in whatever cert path you are working towards. If you're SQL knowledge is "basic" as you said, then you have to decide whether you want the quick cert (Fundamentals) or whether you're willing to put in the time to learn it better before going for the Expert exam.
Good luck with whatever path you choose!

  • Difference btween iz0-051 and iz0-007?

whats the difference between iz0-051 and iz0-031 exam??I am doing some training for iz0-007 can i sit for the exam of iz0-051?both the course looks similar but dnt know the difference btwen them?

The 9i DBA track to OCP normally requires:
    1z0-007 (SQL Exam)
    1z0-031 (DBA Fundamentals 1)
Passing both of these give DBA OCA entitlement.
    1z0-032 ((DBA Fundamentals 2)
    1z0-033 (Performance Tuning)
Passing both of these give DBA OCP entitlement providing approved hands-on course has been attended.
My understanding (not authorative) is authorized delivery of the WDP DBA track provides all of this.
    1z0-051 is a SQL Exam:
    - It is 11g Based and contains a number of items present in 11g (and 10g) not present in earlier releases.
    - It probably uses the preferred ansi syntax as opposed to Oracle Syntax for some joins.
    - While the syllabus and passing difficulty is meant to be similar.
    - It is a more modern exam and usually the relevance of the topics and questions is improved.
There is usually little point in taking 1z0-051 if you have taken 1z0-007. I will alway suggest people consider 1z0-051 as opposed to 1z0-007
( unless they are concentrating on 9i for the WDP program reasons etc).
The 1z0-047 may be considered for people who wish to demonstrate advanced SQL, and an OCE is granted for passing this. This exam is more difficult.
In general recommend for you concentrate on exams relevant to 9i WDP DBA track till that passed.
    Rgds - bigdelboy.
PS: But you can essentially take whatever exams you like whenever you like in whatever order you like if you pay the money (however it is good to be sensible about such things).

  • Books for 1Z0-047 and 1Z0-144

    Hello all,
I'm planning to study for "Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate" certification. I was planning to prepare for 1Z0-047 and 1Z0-144 as both of those exams are validated against Oracle Database 11g.
I was wondering if any of guys here can help me out with the couple of questions that I have.
    1. Which one would you recommend among the two of the below exams?
    1Z0-047 (Oracle Database SQL Expert)
    or
    1Z0-051 (Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I)
    2. What books should I refer for 1Z0-047 and 1Z0-144? I read a lot of threads about this topic. But, I haven't found a proper answer yet, which is why I'm posting this question again.
For 1Z0-047, I saw people recommending the following:
OCA Oracle Database SQL Expert Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-047 (Osborne Oracle Press Series) by Steve O'Hearn
OCA Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-051 (Osborne ORACLE Press Series) by John Watson and Roopesh Ramklass
For 1Z0-144, I saw people recommending the following:
Oracle PL/SQL Programming: Covers Versions Through Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (Animal Guide) by Steven Feuerstein and Bill Pribyl
OCP Developer PL/SQL Program Units Exam Guide by Steve O'Hearn
I kindly request you guys to help me out as I don't have much idea about these books. It would be really great if someone who has passed the exams or read these books throw some light on these.
    Thanks in advance.

Ucertify does have a 1z0-144 practice test ... quality may or may not be poor. Ucertify currently remains certifcation safe AFAIK.

( I feel like I am advertising Ucertify ... which I dont want to be. I feel if I dont do this people will end up with braindump providers). Some may even find a poor quality practice test more harm than good, time may have been better sent learning from the online manuals and practicing what is there.

  • 1Z0-047 vs 1Z0-051

    Hi every one,
i have IT background but I am a beginner in Oracle Database, and intend to go for OCP DBA,
which one of the exam is better or worth to go for , as my target is DBA,
i have seen exam topics and 1z0-047 covers almost all the topics of 1z0-051, would it be beneficial for me doing 1z0-47 keeping in my mind my role as DBA in practical world?
    you response would highly appreciated,
    Regards,

1Z0-047 is a much harder test and for that reason, the more valued to have. It 'covers' all of the topics from 1Z0-051 largely in that questions from any of those areas is fair game, but it concentrates more on those topics that are unique to it. I've written study guides for both tests. My 1Z0-047 guide devotes a bit under 40% of the book to reviewing the topics from 1Z0-051 and the rest on the new material for 047. I'd say that the test itself was weighted more like 25% or less to the 051 topics to 75%-plus to the 047 ones. That's very much a ballpark estimate, though.
Both tests have a very high percentage of questions that involve SQL as either part of the question or part of the answer. In the 051 test, the SQL is more straightforward, and 'bad' SQL generally has reasonably obvious flaws. In 047, the difference between 'right' and 'wrong' answers is often much more subtle. the 047 questions are also much trickier in that they will present perfectly functional SQL that 'looks' flawed because it has been presented in a weird fashion. Which test is better for you is something I can't answer. 047 will automatically get you a certification -- namely the SQL Expert even before you get your OCP. There is no similar 'interim' certification for 051.
As a beginner in Oracle, I'd have to suggest that you take the 1Z0-051 exam. It's a better foundation in the essentials. The 1Z0-047 exam was written specifically to try to pass only people with several years of experience in Oracle SQL. While I won't argue that it's not possible to study sufficiently to pass the 047 exam without that experience, I will say that it's going to be consderably harder to do.
Both of my guides are available in Kindle or paperback. If you have a Kindle and are an Amazon Prime member, you can borrow them for free.

  • Could I take 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-047 together?

Hi, I am currently planning to take a Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate. At first, I plan to take the path of 1Z0-047 + 1Z0-144 which leads to this certification, because the 1Z0-047 itself is also leading to another cert (Oracle SQL Expert cert). So if I take this path, I would end up with two certifications (Oracle SQL Expert cert and PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate)
However, people keep on telling me that 1Z0-047 is very difficult, saying that 1Z0-051 is much easier if I want to guarantee a PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate.
So, is it possible that I take all three exams (1Z0-051, 1Z0-047, 1Z0-144)? I am thinking that taking 1Z0-051 as a kind of "practice" because it is an online exam and the exam scope looks easy to me. Also I have some budgets allocated to me so I don't mind spend a little bit extra money to Oracle exams.
I'm just wondering whether two of them (051, 047) are mutually exclusive in the exam policy or something.

So, is it possible that I take all three exams (1Z0-051, 1Z0-047, 1Z0-144)?Yes, you may take both 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-047. In fact, I would highly recommend taking 1Z0-051 before taking 1Z0-047. You have heard correctly, 047 is a much more difficult exam and requires a considerably higher level of SQL experience/knowledge. If you look at the study topics for both tests, you'll see that 1Z0-047 includes essentially all of the topics from 1Z0-051, and has another thirty-some topics in addition. Studying for 1Z0-051 is in itself preparation for taking the expert test. I discuss the two exams in an article here:

    Hello,
Yes, it seems like source is uncertain but cannot understand the reason because 20280 is only vendor for the material. For this same vendor there are three contracts where this material is included but only the latest one 4600000805 is valid.
I checked contract partners, no reference to the 197790 vendor or neither is there in vendor masters for 20280
    and 197790.
Is there any way to simulate how SAP selects the vendor in background? And as I said in the afternoon run there is no error anymore or if me59N run for this specific purchase requisition.

  • I Just Did the Exam 1Z0-047 - What's Next?

I just passed my first (Internationally Recognized) Oracle exam 1Z0-047. Hmmm, i got %83. I think its good since its my first exam, i felt i could make it better up to %90+. The paper shows 9 bullet points of topics that i may show review. The topics they mentioned i know it really well. Shall i take the exam again? I don't think its a big deal probably %83 is good. Anyway, the exam center gave me a printed paper of my total score. They said Oracle will send another Certification to my address. Which Certification is official? The one i have been given by the exam center is a printed cert (black and point). Which one should i show to the employers?
I'm happy as well as sad because i knew the mistakes i made are silly (i wish to rid of the bullet points argghhhh) + i did the exam after having at least 3 months college hands on experience.

Although the suggested topics are a guide dont dwell on them too much; if you feel you know them ell enough thats fine; move on. Because of the effects of small samples sizes on individual topics these can easily become skewed.

Keep both. 1z0-047 is an exam with fulfills a certification requirement so you get a success pack including a certificate; and thats even more important. Thats the best one to show to your employer; but it may be 8 / 10 weeks beforeyou received it. (NB: Oracle does not send a copy of your exam report - they will only send certificates - however there might be changes when they move to Prometric).
