Newest iTunes is overriding System Preference setting for appearance!
I have my appearances set to graphite (as opposed to blue). That is, my scroll bars, check boxes, apple logos etc. are all showing up in graphite and not blue. Unfortunately, after downloading and installing the newest update to iTunes, whenever that program is open, the appearances switch to blue. How to I get this override to stop??

After Lion install, tried to change wallpaper in "system preferences"->"desktop & screensaver" appeared but immediatly freeze, so force quit.
Then System preference pane as it immediatly freezes if I try to open it. Have to "force quit" each time.
Found many people have the exact issue and highly likely it's the bug of lion.
Anybody found a solution? Thx.It has to do with a problem accessing the images on the home>images folder. To solve it, just move its content (iphoto library included) to another place. Then, restart System Preferences. Moving your iPhoto library to another location seems to fix the problem. I am sure Apple will issue an update to correct this problem. But, for now this seems to work for me.

System Preferences not responding when opening desktop
After installing Lion 10.7, I find that whenever I try to change the desktop wallpaper in system preferences, it freezes and I have to force quit it.
I tried to find the systempreferences.plist, as seen from google searches, but I can't find it anywhere, and those seem to be solutions for SL, L or Tiger.
Help appreciated.
Thanks!I've been having the same issue with system preferences in osx lion freezing and not doing anything for the past week. Your post solved the problem; all I had to do was move the iphoto library and the photo booth library to the desktop, then I moved them back to my pictures folder in the finder window. Now system preferences works like a charm, even if I restart the system the system preferences utilities are all accessible.
This solved the problem; whereas other posts that had me use disk utility to repair the hard drive or repair the disk permissions didn't solve the issue.
This now saves me a call to apple tech support

As long as the entries still exist in your library iTunes doesn't think there is any point in downloading from the cloud, even if the items are missing. Backup your iTunes Library.itl file so you can restore ratings, play counts, playlists etc. Delete your missing store purchases, then connect to the purchased section of the iTunes store to download them. Once you have recovered your content you can restore the previous library, assuming of course you hadn't made radical changes to the tags making your old files live on different paths from those you have restored.

Hello everyone.
i have a 15" MBA circa 2011 running Lion 10.7.5 and my sound has gone, There is a no sound circle on my volume display and in system preferences sound my options for output is empty. At the same time this happened I noticed 2 things: 1) itunes would not actually play any audio track and every video i streamed stopped after a few seconds (usually 11s) but not always.
I have tried following some tips I have found online like going into MIDI and fixing the problem there, restarting in safe mode. Resetting with PRAM (or something that sounds like that).
Does anyone have any insight on this? At this point i'm thinking it's time to reload Lion but I don't really know how to go about that without losing all of my files.

System Preferences, itunes and safari not working. Please Help?
Whenever i click on system preferences whether it be in the applications folder or in the dock, the window doesn't show. my system preferences is partly working because the very top menu bar with the little apple sign changes its menus to suit what system preferences has like system preferences written next to the little apple.
its the same with my itunes and my safari.
my menu bar changes when i click on itunes and if i press the play button on my keyboard i can hear music but no windows are coming up

Making calls and sending/receiving messages are two different things. Calls use the cellular side of things, messages uses data. I'm surprised that is all T-Mobile would do to check out your account is to test your SIM. What if they look at your account, is it provisioned correctly?
You can try to reset the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo. The phone will reboot. See if it works. If not, try to reset network settings. Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. The phone will reboot. Check they if it is working. If not, then you can make an appointment with the Genius Bar at the Apple store, but I still lean heavily that the problem is with the carrier. -
