J pegs into the time line

I have been dragging J Peg photos into the time line from a Google search on the internet. Mostly photos of old ships. Could someone tell me why some work and show nice and clear while many others turn quite "fuzzy" when you press play?

Most likely it because of the size of the image. FCP scales the image to fill the screen. Small images will be scaled up a great deal and will become soft.
Also make sure you're looking at the rendered output with playback preference set to high quality.

Welcome to the Forums.
You have to just right click on the clip imported, in the project panel and select new sequence from clip. You can also go to file menu>new>sequence and create a sequence and then drag the clips after importing them , into the timeline.

The video in FCPX looks fine, But when I load it the photos will play over top of each other or double play.

Export your project as Quick Time Current Settings by choosing Export Media in the Share menu. See if the movie plays correctly in QT Player. If it does, upload that to Web.

How do I get the full size of my pics or video into the time line?

I've nener been part of a forum before and an wondering if this will actually be taken seriously. I'm new to video editing and know little about the program I am using (Adobe Premiere Pro CC). Would someone please advise me as to how I can add the full size video or pics to the time line. It appears whenever I add something from my Gopro 3 HD camera I only get a partial of the video / pic.

Editing After Laying Final Audio Mix Into The Time Line - Possible?

Hello Board,
I finished my film recently and layed the final audio mix (stereo track) into the timeline, replacing all the seperate audio tracks. Now, I want to go in and do some edits at the beginning of the movie.
I still have the main video tracks and several other video tracks for noise filter, credits, etc.
Is it possible to link the video track with the stereo audio file and keep everything synced as I make the cuts to eliminate the need to remix the sound?

Because the video and audio aren't linked, I'm using the razor tool to cut in and out point on the timeline, first to the video and then to the audio seperately. after marking the spots with the razor tool, I delete the unwanted area in between (I do both to the video and audio track) and then pull the pieces together on the video and audio tracks. So far it has stayed synced.
In your case, Lin, I'd recommend using Add Edit and Ripple Delete instead of the Blade tool and the other steps you're doing.
That is...
1. At the point where you want to cut, press Control-V (that's Add Edit)
2. At the next point where you want to cut, press Control-V again
3. Select the region to be cutout and press the Del key, that's the key below Help and to the left of End on your keyboard, not the Delete key.
(This is a Ripple Delete, which clears the selection and moves all clips to the left, leaving no gap)
However it seems like doing transitions would be hard because unless I can match the space on the audio track it will all go out of sync.
I'm honestly confused by what you mean about 'space on the audio track' and things not matching - care to clarify?

In the FCP Browser, click on the source clip that is showing up sized incorrectly to select it. Once it is selected, type Command + 9 to see the item properties for the clip. Either report those properties here, or take a screen shot of the item properties and post the screen shot here.
Next, click anywhere in your sequence timeline and then type Command + 0 {zero} to see your sequence settings. Either report those settings or take a screen shot of the sequence settings and post that screen shot here.

While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this/these file/s out on to desk-top.
Now restart iMovie.
If You run Mac OS X.7 or more - then the Library in the User-account folder is invisibly and need to be set to be viewable. IT IS NOT in the Library on Root level (when opening MacintoshHD - first window = root level)
( It can be done like this: Open Terminal, then enter: chflags nohidden ~/Library
Press return, then restart, and it will always be visible until the next major update, when you do the same thing again. )

Sliding video clips along the time line

Quite often as I edit, I like to place clips in the time line forward of my current edit point. For example I might find a shot that works well with a musical swell or beat 30 seconds down the track. With the magnetic time line, I can't slide that shot to the point on the time line without the shot wanting to ping back to the final edit in the time line, or you have to insert place holders or slug. Any ideas for a quick easy way to slid clips?

I had that problem. Solution for me is to take your cursor and not just drag the stuck clips laterally parallel but lift them up slighly in above the time line and move them in any direction. The connecting thin vertical blue line line will still be attached to the TL but some how lifting them up slghtly allows you to drag them anywhere into the TL.

I want to change the time line in Audition CS6 to display a 24hr time

I have a file I need to aline to a particular time in a 24hr time format. I can see that I can change it many ways to do with music and video but I use Audition for a different purpose. I need to set the time line to display something similar to a 24hr clock so I can edit a file. Is this possbile?

Ryan, the decimal format in Audition reads mm:ss.ddd where I need it to read hh:mm:ss:ms - and with a repeating 24hr period. Adobe is aware that it's products are used for more than editing design, film and music...it would be nice for them to have something more suitable.
My solution it to upload the audio file into Premier, add markers where the relevant times are (after calculating the times to a straight time line) and then export to Audition. It's a lot of work for a large number of files.
If the time line was more adaptable it would have saved me hours of extra work!

Put the playhead at the beginning of the clip and press the X key. It should mark in and out point for the clip. Press the F key to match frame back to the same clip. Make sure both video and audio target tracks are set correctly and press F0 to overwrite and edit the clip with audio back into the timeline.

Only able to laydown one clip from the time line

When try to do a assemble to tape using the edit to tape window, I drag the clips from the sequence in the time line and drop into the assemble edit box, but this only lays down the first clip. I am sure this is something stupid I am doing but I cannot see what.

dont drag the clips, but drag the sequence itself from the browser...

CS4: How can I copy named potions of the time line to the projects panel?

I am trying to copy named portion of my time line to the project panel & I can't past the segment.
I copied a large AVI file to the time line, split it up into sections, & am trying to place the individual rename section into the Projects Panel. I can Copy the segment, but when I try to Paste it into the Projects Panel the Paste command is not "lighted up".
How can I copy named potions of the time line to the projects panel?

I found a way albeit a tedious method:
positioned the render bar( I do not know the proper name) to encompass each segment separately.
Exported that segment to Media.
Media in turn transferred the segment to the Media Encoder program.
The Media Encoder, after processing the segments, deposited the files in a temporary folder.
Lastly, imported the content of the folder to the Project Panel,

I cannot find this 300GB "Backup" in the Finder, only in the Storage info when I check "About This Mac".
You are probably using Time Machine to backup your MacBook Pro, right? Then the additional 300 GB could be local Time Machine snapshots. Time Machine will write the hourly backups to the free space on your hard disk, if the backup drive is temporarily not connected. You do not see these local backups in the Finder, and MacOS will delete them, when you make a regular backup to Time Machine, or when you need the space for other data.

I have restarted my computer, but the information remains the same. How do I reclaim the use of the 300GB? Why is it showing up as "Backups" when it used to indicate "Photos"? Are my photos safe on the external drive?
You have tested the library on the external drive, and so your photos are save there.
The local TimeMachine snapshot probably now contains a backup of the moved library. Try, if connecting your Time Machine drive will reduce the size of your local Time Machine snapshots.

In the Timeline, go to the first frame and press M to put a marker on it. Go to the other frame you want to jump to and put a marker on that one too.
Now press Ctrl+Semicolon to go to the previous marker - or Ctrl+Comma to go to the next marker.

My sequence is no longer showing up in the time line!

So I'm working on a DVD video for my nan's funeral and I opened the project and my edited sequence is no longer in the time line! I click on it but nothing shows up. It's as if I haven't done any editing in it yet. But I have and I have saved it. I wasn't too worried because I have time machine so I just went to restore an older version of my project. I did so but it also showed a blank sequence. I went back 2 more times to get even older versions with the same results. I know that my work can not be just gone! I mean I've been saving it and it's been backed up, is there something that I just have turned off by any chance? I'm pretty confused, the whole thing is just so random and unexpected. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the identical issue. Open a project that was fine 12 hours earlier. Now I open the project and all my clips and subclips show up in the browser, but the timeline is empty. Click on sequence 1 - empty. I tried switching my scratch disk from the original external drive to another one that was a mirror copy of the first - changed the scratch disk location. Then had the issue with no sequence data in the timeline. Reverted to original external drive and scratch disk location. Same problem - no sequence data. I can open other previous projects and they're fine. I don't have multiple sequences in my projects - I just build in the timeline, if that has anything to do with the problem. This is very strange. Appreciate any help anyone has.
