J1800i Kernel Power problem!

Hello guys,
I bought one J1800i and my board was getting error and shutdown, the error is Kernel Power.
So, I replaced the PSU with one that I know is working good and had the same problem, I went to the vendor and he give one new board and for my surprise this one is giving the exactly same problem.
The board power down and I need to start It again, already test with another memory stick and no success...
My BIOS is at the last version (1.2) and I already install all drivers at MSI Live update manager and all updates from windows 8. Please MSI what is happening?
thank you

GSkill ram is known to cause issues on MSI boards. >>Clear CMOS<< and retry with just one stick of ram.
Gskill? man why MSI don't put that information on the motherboard box? Do you know the phone number of the MSI in Brasil? I will try to ask two new memory to replace my gskill....

Computer either stops responding or shows blue screen or restarts unexpectedly. I followed the below steps and could not solve my problem. Please help...
    1. Perform a Device Clean Boot to identify if it is caused by incompatible driver.
    1) Click "Start", type "DEVMGMT.MSC" in the Search textbox and press Enter.
    2) Expand "Sound, video and game controllers".
    3) Right click on your Sound Card, select "Properties"
    4) Click "Driver" tab, click Disable (Disable the selected device). Click OK
    5) Please use the same method to disable other hardware such as: Modem, network card, CD-R drive. Please note some devices such as video adapter are not available to be disabled.
    6) Please restart the computer.
    2. Update all device drivers to the latest version. You can contact the manufacturer to obtain drivers.
    3. Try to disable AutoReboot through Regritry.
    1) Click Start, type regedit in the Search box and press Enter.
    2) Navigate to the following item:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\CrashControl
    3) Change the values of the following entries:
    AutoReboot REG_DWORD 0x1
    CrashDumpEnabled REG_DWORD 0x1
    4) Restart the computer and see if the issue persists.
    4. If the issuer persists, to solid troubleshoot this kind of issue, I recommend you to collect the minidump files for a specific troubleshooting:
    Collect Minidump Files
    =================
    1. Click "Start", input "SYSDM.CPL" (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and press Enter.
    2. Switch to the "Advanced" tab and click the "Settings" button under "Startup and Recovery".
    3. Under "Write debugging information" section, make sure the "Small memory dump (128KB)" option is selected.
    4. Make sure "%SystemRoot%\Minidump" is in the "Small dump directory" open box and click OK.

    Hello
To be honest I dont know where you founded these steps and Im also confused why you change something in Windows registry.
You should be a little bit more detailed. That means which bluescreen stop code you receive exactly?
    Which OS you are using?
Have you checked the device manager for yellow exclamation marks?
Have you already tried to reinstall Windows? If the problem still exists after reinstalling Windows it seems to be a hardware malfunction.

  • Kernel-Power 41 + Problems detected during Memory Diagnostic

I had purchased a PC about 6 months back from a good dealer in India.
    Core i7 860
MSI-P55-GD80 (bios updated today to version 1.90)
    Sapphire Radeon HD 5770
Corsair Dual Channel 2x2Gb 1333 Mhz
    Corsair VX450 watts
    CoolerMaster 690
    CoolerMaster N520 Cooler
    Seagate 500GB 7200.12
My PC shows a blue screen unexpectedly. Sometimes while playing a game, and sometimes while just sitting idle. While rendering in mental ray, it does not crash.
The error is Kernel-Power. (The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.)
I used to have zipped files. Around 100 GB of data. So, each of these files were on an average, around 6GB. Whenever I would unzip these files, I would get a CRC error. I got a error on all of them. I deleted some of these files. After finding out a faulty Ram module via the Windows Memory Diagnostic, I removed the chip, and used Windows as usual. I happened to unzip one of those huge archives again, and surprisingly it unzipped like a charm. I reinstalled windows 7, ran the test again, and it showed the problem with the same memory chip.
I went back to my dealer and gave it for RMA, and got a temporary Gskill single channel DDR3 ram. It doesnt work if I plug it in the first slot, but it works perfectly when I plug it into the rest of the slots. Just an hour ago, my PC gave me the blue screen again, and when tested with the Memory Diagnostic tool, I got the same problem.
I have even updated my BIOS. I'm going to do a complete format of my PC and install the latest drivers. Can anybody guide me? The Gskill ram was brand new. I dont know what to tell my dealer now. Is my new computer eating up my ram??? I even have an APC UPS installed. Please help me. I don't want to ruin more RAM sticks anymore. I checked right now, I'm getting CRC errors while unzipping large large files.

The first thing I did was to format and reinstall all my drivers. Same problem. Installed MSI Control Center.
Used BIOS and set the memory command rate to 2T. I could not find the memory voltage controls. So, I decided to use MSI control center. I set the DRAM voltage to 1.575 through there. Restarted my PC, checked CPUID. No difference in the voltage, but the memory command rate is 2T. Went into BIOS, finally found the memory voltage controls. It said that the voltage was 1.750V. But I have never ever changed that. I changed it down to 1.575V. Saved the BIOS settings, restarted, checked CPUID.No difference, the DRAM voltage is still at 1.50, although in the BIOS its at 1.575. Ran MSI control center, and the DRAM voltage was 1.950V!!! I don't know how that happened. I redid a windows memtest. It said immediately during the test that hardware problems were detected. Quit the test, ran windows. An interesting development is that I am able to unzip those "faulty" zip files again!!!  But the memtest still shows an error. My Corsair 1333Mhz Dual channel 2x2GB kits are due in a few days, and I dont want to ruin them again. Kindly suggest. Thanks!

  • BLACK SCREEN on start up with 3 beeps, FREEZES when power unplugged, IF IT BOOTS splash screen freezes, OVERHEATING REQUIRED TO BOOT - 0x7B, Event 41 kernel-power

Issue: One day I unplug the power, the screen freezes and I get frozen music sound. I shut down, start up, I get 3 beeps (1 short 2 long), which indicates a Video failure according to the Thinkpad Laptop beep code list.
How I solve the issue day-to-day: I turn the heat up - I disconnect the battery and hard drive and plug in the power then turn it on. I will wait until the underneath is searing hot with a blanket blocking the fan's flow of air, I mean way hot because any
cooler and it won't start. Plug stuff back in, Hard drive first, Battery second, turn off with power button hold, unplug power, replug power.
I turn it on, no beeps, it goes past the first Lenovo screen, then gives me a prompt because it "didn't shut down properly" and continue regular startup. What happens next is the Windows logo appears,
and just as the animated windows logo starts to move (you see 2 small colored dots on the screen), it freezes. I see this every time, I know naturally that it means that the laptop is still too hot to go past that point, so I shut it down and try again. After
about 5 - 10 tries it will go past the splash screen and into the login area, then it's all fine.
Sometimes when I unplug the power from the back by accident it will freeze. By accident I mean that the connector wiggles it's self out easily. This unplug freezing thing started happening about 1 week before the 3 beep black screen problem started rolling,
    so I'm putting 2 together.
           Errors:
I got a Blue Screen of Death the first time I started it up with the overheating ritual, but I never got it since. It was 0X7B.
I got another Blue Screen of Death about a week ago, but came as it was on already and I had been using it, and said something about disabling Cache or Shadowing in BIOS. I never got it since.
           Event Viewer events found:
    1. Kernel-Power, Summary page.
There are critical events for a few things like Kernel-Power, Event ID 41, Task Category (63). There are 19 of them, each day 1 or 2 of them but mostly 1, so this maybe corresponds to my daily ritual.
"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
    2. Kernel-Processor-Power - Event ID 37, task category (7)

    3. LMS - HCMI - Event ID 2, Task Category: none
"LMS Service cannot connect to HECI driver".
I came across a very sluggish performing control panel for Nvidia before and after this problem, and I tried installing a newer version, which I had to jump through a few hoops to do, like uninstalling first, not just updating. At first it said that the
driver wasnt for the system, which was wrong. I made it work somehow, but it was still sluggish. I rolled it back to an earlier driver, and now it works fine. No sluggish performance / slight freeze window thing going on.
MSCONFIG.exe, Boot Advanced Options: I have tried twice to change this 1 setting, check box "Number of processors" and change to 2 processors, because I do have 2 processors. I have been able to change
this in the past, but it does not save the setting now, and I believe this option was selected before I started having problems, and settings did not disappear then.
What could this be. The small round BIOS battery? The video card like everyone presumes? (I.E. the entire motherboard replacement), Software? The wiggly power input area? (Not enough power getting in?), Firmware of some sort? The BIOS software being wrong?

  • Error 41 - Kernel Power in event log after clean shutdown - Windows 8.0

HP Envy H9-1405A - 16MB RAM,  Windows 8.0, and up to date with updates. (16 months old but under extended h/w warranty).  All user data backed-up daily.
After problems earlier today I noticed that after a controlled shutdown and start from cool (ie on/off button on PC, not mains power at the wall) the startup took over 10 minutes.  Event browser showed error 41 - Kernel Power - "after system crash or lost power unexpectedly",  which it definitely hadn't as I was testing a controlled shutdown.
When starting from overnight sleep mode this morning it came up with  blue screen and an error mssage something like 'hard disk driver error', or similar (before first coffee so I wasn't really awake).  PC wouldn't restart in anything like reasonable time until powered off at wall, after which it struggled up and ran normally for a while.  Went out for a couple of hours and on return again the PC wouldn't re-start from sleep mode.  Again used the wall power switch to effect the restart and PC and after very slow restart it ran normally.  Event log showed Startup Repair ran due to a corrupted registry hive, and reboot used an earlier version.
Checkdisk ran clean and the HP Support Assistant diags just looped for ever.
I then tried a system restart, which worked but took a long time, and then a controlled power down and start from cool which also took a long time as described above.  I've temporarily turned off sleep mode so as to keep working.
Question - do I have a transient software problem which might be fixable with Recovery, or failing hardware that should be covered by warranty, and where might I find some hardware diagnostics to show to the supplier?  Thanks.

    Hello @mikerb,
I have read your post on how your desktop computer is displaying an error message in regards to a Kernel event log, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To further diagnose this issue, I recommend following the steps in this document on Windows Kernel event ID 41 error "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first". This should help to resolve the critical error message.
Just to be on the safe side, I also suggest following this resource on Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8); which should help determine if there is a hardware defect with one or multiple hardware components on your computer.

  • Kernel Power - Event ID 41 - Task Category 63 (spontaneous improper shutdowns and reboots)

I have been having consistent power offs/reboots lately, and im at my wits end about how to fix them.
It always seems to happen when im playing a high end game (Guild Wars 2, Mirrors Edge, etc.).
I havent experienced it while just browsing or doing basic work, or while playing lower intensity games that hog less resources.
The computer screen goes black, it reboots and i get the "windows has had an improper shutdown" kind of message.
Usually after playing the game for an hour at the least, though its happened 2-3 hours into the game as well.
I checked temps, and they are all normal,
Ive also attempted updating drivers, and downgrading from any beta drivers i was using, and none of that seemed to affect it.
    I checked event viewer,
And right before this shutdown i get the critical error "Kernel-Power" "Event ID 41" Task Category 63"

If anyone has any suggestions as to what could be going wrong, or things to check it would be greatly appreciated.
Ive looked around at others solutions and tried whats helped others and it hasnt done much so far.
it seems like this is a very broad problem, with no unspecific fix in most cases.

    Hi,
This scenario usually indicates a problem with the hardware. Or, the driver can cause this problem. To help isolate the problem, check the following items:
    1. Overclocking: Disable overclocking to see whether the issue occurs when the system is run at the correct speed.
    2. Check the memory: Verify the memory by using a memory checker. Verify that each memory chip is
the same speed and that it is configured correctly in the system.
    3. Power supply: Make sure that the power supply has enough wattage to appropriately handle the
installed devices. If you added memory, installed a newer processor, installed additional drives, or added external devices, such devices can require more energy than the current power supply can provide consistently.
    4. Overheating: Check whether the system is overheating by examining the internal temperature of
    the hardware.
    5. Defaults: Use system defaults, and run the system.
If you see that the computer generates a Stop error that contains a BugcheckCode value that is not reported in an event ID 41, change the restart behavior for the computer. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
    2. Click Advanced system settings.
    3. Click the Advanced tab.
    4. In the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings.
    5. Click to clear the Automatically restart check box.

  • Kernel Power error after Win 7 and RAM upgrade

    Hello,
I posted earlier on the subject of win7 and ram upgrades.  I did both and it seemed to go fine.  I did the ram first ... replaced a 667Mhz 1gb with a 800Mhz 2gb.  A couple of days later the computer just shut itself down and restarted.  Since then it has done it another 5 times, seemingly at random.  Yesterday I decided to spend some time looking into it and found the 'event log'.  All the shutdowns are recorded as 'critical'.  A search on the web/here showed other occurences of the fault associated with drivers as much as anything.
After I did the win update I did update almost every driver with ones from this site.
Other than the shutdowns the only issues I have which are of very mild concern are the length of time the fingerprint reader takes to be present and that occasionally the cursor is unavailable for about a minute after logging on. When you try and control it it jumps about anywhere but where you want it to go.   I rolled back the alps driver and that seems to have sorted the cursor issue.
So, details of the shutdown from the event log are as follows.
    Log Name:      System
    Source:        Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
    Date:          16/01/2011 16:21:31
    Event ID:      41
    Task Category: (63)
    Level:         Critical

    User:          SYSTEM

    Description:
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
There's more (I've shown it all below) but it's not that important.  When I looked into it I found details of the problem on the microsoft knowledge base.  Its described here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504.
I believe I fit into scenario 3 for cause and resolution.
So, it seems that win7 and mixed speed ram may be a problem on some computers ... probably only a tiny number, but it looks like the HP3507 is one of them.  I did see somewhere that I could down speed from 667 to 266 which might help with memory compatability but I can't see anywhere on the the insydeH20 bios where to do it.  BIOS is version F18 .... upgraded from F15 as part of the Win7/RAM ugrade.
Before I swap back to the 'old' memory I'll see if anybody here can come up with any ideas.  It may be that I have to sell off the expensive 2gb memory (ddr2 800mhz 200 pin) for £39.99 from maplin at a bargain price and get 2gb of 667Mhz from somewhere.
The full 'detail' regarding the fault is below.
    Bye for now.

    Hi DWeiland and Schwede,
Thanks for your replies. Yes I did the runtime engine registry change and also mass compiled the LV7.1 folder and my sourcecode. I still see the problem as I have set the LV adapter as Lv 7.1.1 runtime engine. Now I have changed it to LV7.1 development system. With this setting, it is not giving any error. Thus I don’t see any problem now. The older version of the code had the adapter as the runtime engine for some reason, now I have changed the setting to the development system. I hope that it shouldn’t be a problem.
    Thanks again!
    Thank you,
    Sasi

  • Please help with Windows 7 x64 System error: Critical Kernel-power Event 41

I'm recieving this error while moving my laptop or working with it? Can someone help me to read memory dumps and to understand what causes this error please?
Where i can fount theese dump files? Can someone read them and is it possible to understand what is happening?
I have made full check of my memory and there are No errors I've also checked HDD with regenerator there are no errors too. but this not means that they can not be the problem. There is doubt about one of my HDD because when laptop is blocking there is bad
    noise from HDD.
PS: There is another issue which is strange two of times when this happens the whole MBR was destroyed and the system refuses to boot ... only reboots. And i made bootrec /fixboot /fixmbr and this solve the problem ... I don't know is this connected with
system error, but i'm trying to give more details.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Kernel Power ID 41 : error

    Hi everyone!
Last day when I sat by my computer, it got totally hanged up. So I turned it off. When I started it again it took me like 20 min to get it started, then I got a error message.
I searched for it and tried different solutions, but I cant figure out if anything has been changed.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is based on the error parameters below?
    This is the error log:

    Hi,
    According to the Event ID:41:
Here is a expanition about this Event ID:
The kernel power event ID 41 error occurs when the computer is shut down, or it restarts unexpectedly. When a computer that is running Windows starts, a check is performed to determine whether the computer was shut down cleanly. If the computer was not shut
down cleanly, a Kernel Power Event 41 message is generated.
An event 41 is used to report that something unexpected happened that prevented Windows from shutting down correctly. There may be insufficient information to explicitly define what happened. To determine what may have happened and to identify a potential
resolution, it is important to know what the computer was doing at the time just before the event occurred.
If event 41 is logged because power to the computer was interrupted, consider obtaining an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) such as a battery backup power supply. An underpowered or failing power supply may cause this behavior. For example, if you added
RAM or additional devices or hard disks when this problem began, the power supply may cause the problem.
You can refer to the conents of this link below:

Please also refer to its troubleshooting method to fix this problem, if encouner any problem, please feel free let me know.

It is just saying the previous shutdown was unexpected.  If you BSOD we need the DMP file if not event viewer logs to diagnose it.
We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
We prefer at least 2 DMP files to spot trends and confirm the cause.
Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here
If you have any questions about the procedure please ask
Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:
    Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
    Expand Custom Views
    Click Administrative Events
    Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file to Onedrive or a file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post
If you have updated to win 8.1 and you get the error message "the system cannot find the file specified" it is a known problem.  The
work around is to edit the registry.  If you are not comfortable doing this DONT.  If you are, backup the key before you do

  • Kernel power event

I’m having windows 7 home premium, trying to configure event viewer for kernel power.
    To log shutdown event.
After enabling kernel power log. I’m getting weird event saying that,
The description for Event ID 74 from source Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation
is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
In between I never get shutdown event.

    Hi
I want to know if there is a system problem occurred when the ever log generated?
Because the kernel power event ID 41 error occurs when the computer is shut down, or it restarts unexpectedly. When a computer that is running Windows starts, a check is performed to determine whether the computer was shut down cleanly. If the computer was
not shut down cleanly, a Kernel Power Event 41 message is generated.
According to your description, the error occurred because settings on kernel power log or unexpectedly shutdown,   you can find the information below:

  • P6N Diamond reboots with E6850 CPU (Kernel-Power)

I hope I give enough information to possibly help with my issue. I recently changed my CPU from a Pentium D 3.4GH to the Core™2 Duo CPU E6850 Conroe 3.00GHz. I can't run for more than two hours before I get a sudden reboot. I checked the event viewer and there is a critical event: Kernel-Power. I'm not trying to overclock (although I'd love to learn how too). I've listed my specs below and thought I'd mention that I don't have a heatsink and fan on the CPU. I'm using the Corsair liquid cooler. I have fans blowing on the heatsinks to keep the heatpipe cool. Checking it with a Fluke IR Thermometer I get 45c on the 680i heatsink and 50c on the 590i heatsink. This temp is comparable to when I had the Intel heatsink and fan on the cpu. I use the Cooler master CM Sniper for my case and there seems to be adequate air flow. I just did a reinstall (cleaned the hard drive) using the Pentium D and have been adding and updating one driver at a time to see when the problem would start. As soon as I added the E6850 CPU the reboots started. I changed back and the reboots stopped. The Any help and/or ideas would be appreciated.

    Hello and welcome,
    What bios do you have?
If its 1.0 its possibly not fully supporting your cpu and you probably need to flash your bios.
If you need to flash, read here on how to safely:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=113295.0
    And go here for biosfiles:

Take 1.3 it incorporates all previous fixes.

  • Event ID 41 Kernel- Power and Memory Issues with P67A-GD65

Alright guys, the reason I'm starting this topic is because I have recently bought an i7-2600K, 8GB (2GBx4) Corsair Dominator CMP4GX3M2A1600C8, a Radeon HD 6970 for an update to my system, I also have an Intel X-25M First Generation 80GB SSD as the boot drive and then 2 Western Digital Black Cavier 1TB storage drives. I currently have OC Genie turned on and my processor is OCed to 4.2GHZ, I have a Zalman 9900Max air cooler on it and my usual processor temp is 34C. Basically every once and a while I'm get Blue Screens on my system, Windows Event Viewer Tags it as Event ID 41 Kernel-Power, I've also gotten PFN_LIST_CORRUPT while playing Crysis once. I'm wondering if it's memeory so I'm about to run my system through MemTest and see what it turns up. So here are my reasons for this post.
    1. MSI's website lists only triple channel memeory for corsair for this board which of course is dual channel, so does anyone have a recommendations on memory if I do have to switch them out which I would hate to leave corsair.
    2. Has anyone else had this problem with their system?
    Thanks guys
