J2EE Engine startup page error: File [main.jsp] not found in application..

Hi Guys,
I have just uninstalled and reinstalled SAP Netweaver 7.01 portal. The uninstall was clean and the reinstall also went without any errors.
However, immediately after this, when I open http://<host>:<port> I get the following error:
404 Not Found
The requested resource /main.jsp is not available
Details: File main.jsp not found in application root of alias [/] of J2EE application [sap.com/com.sap.engine.docs.examples].
If, instead, I open portal (http://<host>:<port>/irj), it works fine.
Anybody has any idea why this has happened and how can I resolve this issue?

Hi Anil,
I don't see how this note is relevant here. It is just the j2ee engine start page which is not opening. If I go straight to the systeminfo page or the portal login page, they are all working.
Any experience on this issue with that note u suggested? Please share.

SAP J2EE Engine Start Page / Error 404

Hi there,
i have a problem.
I restartet my JAVA ONLY System (a Portal)
The System comes up. All Log files are clean. No Error no warnings etc.
When i now want to connect to the ""SAP J2EE Engine Start Page"
via: http://host.name.com:50000/index.html
The following error occurs:
404 Not Found
SAP J2EE Engine/7.00
The requested resource does not exist.
Details: Go to main page of this application!
as i say.. The engine comes up normal.
ALL really all other applications are running.
When o go to:http://host.name.com:50000/nwa or /useradmin or any other link.
All works great. Only the Startpage cannot be displayed.
So did anyone have a clue why this don`t work?

The index.html was deleted.. i copied it over from our other Testportal.
it was in:
/usr/sap/SID/JC00/j2ee/cluster/server0/apps/sap.com
anywhere here ... i forgot the exactly Path.
eventuelly you can find the path with httptrace or so?

404 Error - File or Directory not found

Hi there
I have a simple CF page set to do a dump of the server only at this stage.
<cfdump var="#server#">
It works fine when I'm on the server itself and run from 127.0.0.1/mydomain/index.cfm
When I try to run from www.mydomain.com - I get a 404 file or directory not found
Is this a CF error or is this an error being thrown up from IIS
How do I get around this error ?

In addition, To troubleshoot the winodws updates issue, please follow these methods:
1. You should be able to access the Windows Update website. If you can't access this site, try to use the
Windows Update Troubleshooter to fix the problem.
Refer to:

2. Recreate SoftwareDistribution folder:
1) Stop the Automatic Updates and Background Intelligent Transfer Service services.
2) Delete or rename the %windir%\SoftwareDistribution folder.
3) Restart Automatic Updates and Background Intelligent Transfer Service services.
3. Reset Windows update:

To do so: Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added

Hello,
I am trying to run my application (using Java) on windows which in turn calls the Remote Manager on Solaris(Solaris 9 on SPARC Processor).
It gives the following linker error:

I tried setting "LD_LIBRARY_PATH" , but that also didnt work.

So for a quick patch, copy the jni.h file from the include

Sneak preview Installation error, file source.properties not found

Hi all,
I am trying to install sneak preview (SAPNW2004sJavaSP9_Trial) with j2sdk-1_4_2_09 and jce_policy-1_4_2.zip as specified. The Installation was success upto a while but when I pass parameters to "secure store settings" it says there is no source.properties file in sneakpreview\java\ like that. If somebody have met with a similar problem and could overcome please help. Helping answer rewarded.

Microsoft 2003 Server not able to do Microsoft Updates and giving a "404 error file or directory not found"

Can anyone provide a fix or suggest fixes for this issue and is there another way around getting updates from the site that i can try. Not sure why it keeps coming up with this error each time i click the microsoft update option.

Error when installing DI:J2EE Engine J00 of SAP system WS3 did not reach st

I am trying to install WAS Dialog Instance,but found error :
first run \Master\IM01_NT_I386\SAPINST\NT\I386\sapinst.exe
then set some parameters as usual and start installation.
when coming to phase 10 of 11:start sap j2ee engine,the log shows as follows:
INFO 2007-04-20 14:46:09
J2EE Engine J01 of SAP system WS3 did not come up after 623 seconds: waiting for another 20 seconds.
and at last it gives up,shows:
ERROR 2007-04-20 14:54:31
CJS-20058 J2EE Engine J01 of SAP system WS3 did not reach state "Starting Applications" after 1126 seconds: giving up.

The problem could be with any of the following.
1>check JDK version you are using. use supported JDK in case if you you don't have
2>check your memory parameters. Notes 597187, 552522
might be of help.
may be the problem could be with the Heap Size.change it to value (ex:1024 MB) and try if it works.
also
3>check whether you started in safe mode. if so, change it to normal mode.

Although the versions 10.1.3.4 and 10.1.3.3 are close and should be able to use 10.1.3.4 JDev for most 10.1.3.3 development, the human tasks is the one exception. 10.1.3.3 had a few bugs fixed therefore the jar file used in JDev 10.1.3.4 may not be compatible with 10.1.3.3.
I would either use JDev 10.1.3.3 or upgrade SOA Suite to 10.1.3.4

LSO Content Player Error - HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found

I have published a course to my ISS CMS and configured the links in both ECC and J2EE lsm/mediator.
Result

I was able to successfully publish the course from the Authoring Environment to the CMS server.
When selecting the starting the course from the portal with content player i get the following error.
HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found
But the URL is referring to - http://iiscmshost.domain/lms/mediator/courseview?sid=8685627505550088697845288091101&language=EN&sys=HRD&client=030&sap-accessibility=X
How does directory http://iiscmshost.domain/lms/mediator get created when the content is in http://iiscmshost.domain/LSO600/Content ??
Secondly can I change this reference to my LSO600/Content directory.
Please advise with any information. Point will be awarded.

We are facing the same problem. We are pointing over CMS to IIS, instead of KM content of portal. We are successfully able to release and publish the course, then attach to a course participant also.
But. When participants logs into the portal and click on Start Now. It giving 404 file not found Error. Its the same error. All our Course and content pointed to CMS IIS Server Url.
When we did the content player config test, result is NOT OK. We have required R3 authorization and CMS user authorization also with admin rights. Content Player console is working in AE when we start up the course. Its showing the error.
So, it seems like content player is not working properly. Bcoz we are launching course from http://WEBDAV repository server maintained in back end system. Which is the IIS(CMS Server)for us. Do we need to maintain anything separately to launch a course from IIS Server on R3 and SAP Portal. Below sample URL from page.

Could you please us know, how did you resolve the issue and tell me the cause of this issue.

Hi, I'm helping StringSinger2 with this problem.
The previously installed version is Pages 3.0.3 (the same as from iWork 08). This version (Pages 3.0.3/iWork 08) is incompatible with Pages 5.
That is why it would be helpful to install iWork 09, which is the version between the two. It will open the older 08 files, and its saved files are readable by the new Pages5.

When I try to install iWorks 09 from my retail DVD the error message is "the installer is damaged". (I know the dvd is good, I installed iWorks09 to my laptop today.) Is the "installer" part of the system files? And - If that is damaged is there a patch for that?

Sumtotal error 404 - file or directory not found

Hi,
We have a SCORM 1.2 compliant content created using Captivate 5. It's a multiple SCO (6 modules) combined into a single SCORM package. When the package was loaded in Sumtotal LMS, one of the modules alone does not launch and throws the below error.
404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
However all the modules get loaded when tested in Saba LMS. Any ideas on what could the issue in Sumtotal? Would greatly appreciate a resolution at the earliest.

I 've seen that error 404 numerous times in the past. It always seems to be related to the configuration of the web server not able to match the Domain name with the IP address, wrong path name, check the spelling, browser startup default settings to locate the website. etc. It always seems to be a configuration problem.

Main-class not found error while clicking on the jar

I have a created a jar �FinARM.jar� for my swing application using eclipse.
Clicking on this jar, it is giving the problem main-class not found.
It contains the MANIFEST.MF file, with entry Main-Class: FinAlignTest for the main class.
FinAlignTest is my main class.
I have a similar jar created with a small swing application (Single file) clicking on it can open the swing application.

My Apllication runs with out any warnings or errors. But when i create a jar file using eclipse it is giving this problem.
When i double click on the jar file i am getting this problem. MANIFEST.MF entry contains the main method entry.
I have created another jar (Which contains a simple java file, swing application) from eclipse export option.
It works fine on click.
But jar FinARM.jar contains 5 files (Swing app), which even fetch some data from the database.
My jar is placein the same machine where it can fetch data from DB

may be the problem could be with the Heap Size.change it to value (ex:1024 MB) and try if it works.

3>check whether you started in safe mode. if so, change it to normal mode.

Here's the scenario. They are in edit mode on the Formulation Spec.
They go to the Process tab.
Click A Step, and see that there are several blank lines at the end of the instructions, and they want to clean up this blank space.
So they click the Instructions link, and the Instructions pop-up in a rich text editor.
They click in the editor near the bottom to get a prompt on the last blank line.
They then hit the backspace key to delete the blank lines.
As soon as they hit the backspace key the error is thrown in the editor; Not in an error message popup and no error log is recorded in the event logs.
And to make it even more interesting it doesnt happen all the time!
Has anyone else seen this behavior within Formulation specs?
P.S. Its not the IE pop-up blocker either.

Trey, i just did a quick test and was able to duplicate with the following steps:
1. open instructions
2. instead of clicking in the edit textbox, click below the edit textbox (ie. b/w the textbox and keywords)
3. hit backspace
404
my guess is, users are working quickly, think they click in the textbox, but accidently click outside the textbox. backspace is then trying to register a previous page command.
However, we changed the rich text control in 6.1.1, and it looks like this issue has been corrected.
if you find a different set of steps to recreate that triggers the 404, let us know.
