J2EE engine - Window XP Vista business edition

I am a beginner in SAP Netweaver area. I want to buy a laptop which comes WINDOW XP VISTA BUSINESS edition and install SAP NetWeaver Application Server on it. Has any one installed NetWaever server on XP vista operating system.? does window XP Vista support Netweaver server?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sharing files between a Windows Vista Business edition and a Mac osx 10.6.6

Is there reliable information somewhere about how to share files from a Windows Vista business edition pc to a Mac osx 10.6.6? I have googled instructions and followed the steps and still could not have sharing to happen between the Vista pc and the Mac. These are the steps I have performed, I have made sure that
o Both the Vista pc and the Mac have the same user account/password.
o The firewall from the Vista side allows file and printer sharing in the exceptions.
o Enabled sharing with a few directories on the Vista pc.
o Changed the security policy on the Vista pc to "LM and NTLM - use NTLMV2 session security if negotiated".
o On the Mac System Preferences > Sharing selected File sharing.
On the Windows Vista pc, if I click the Start menu and then Network, the Mac does not appear. On the Mac, from the Finder menu if I click Go > Connect to server and request a connection to the IP address of that Vista pc, I get an error, "Connection Failed" (could not find pc or not available at this time).
What else do I need?

That was a great tutorial / walk through.
In fact, I would say that was far easier than the entrophy route (which is good) as you can see exactly what you are doing rather than relying on an installer which has often failed in the past for me, and then just suddenly worked for no apparent reason!
Just two things to improve it for other users, and they are really VERY minor... From previous experience, I knew where to find the php.ini.default file, but you don't let people know where to find that, and the links to the MySQL downloads were broken. I guess that is because the file names have changed or because I am coming at it from a different country. I got a message stating: 'That file does not exist on our download mirrors.'

Any suggestions on creating a new user account please? (thinpad x61 tablet, Vista Business edition)

I would appreciate any suggestions on creating/editing the user account on my second-hand thinkpad X61 tablet (running Vista Business) edition. I bought the laptop from ebay in Germany/Austria. When I switched it on, there were no options to create or edit a username. I have completed all the updates (Lenavo and Windows). I tried the following to add a new administrative account:
1, Control Panel then selecting User Accounts. A screen appears for a second and then disappears.
2. I have also tried typing in sysdm.cpl in the command prompt,
None of the above worked, as the screen does not appear at all. I have also tried allowing the automatic updates on, that does not work either. I was wondering if this is managed by the Think Vantage system. Not sure if this is relevant, the Vista Business language was set in German and I added a language pack via Vistalizator to turn it into English.
Any help with this issue would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Have you tried running the Local Users and Groups Manager (filename: LUSRMGR.MSC) to create a new user? If so, were you able to create additional accounts through it?

Startpage firefox 4 shows the firefoxlogo, a searchfield and another empty field. search button doensn't work. I have this problem on two pc and one laptop, all windows vista (business edition, and premium edition)

I tried to copy material from E70 to PC, pics, documents etc and it just annouses error in comminication between devices. So far nothing really serious, but IF you have tried transfering by cut-paste, it deletes files from the telephone but cannot move them to PC.

SSRS Report Manager does not open on Vista Business Edition machine - Server Error in '/Reports' Application

I have a Vista laptop that cannot connect to Report Manager URL. Same Windows account on an XP machine works just fine.
Note: - Reporting Services is not installed on Vista machine , this is a client that connects to a SQL Server 2008 R2 and Reporting server instance.
On Vista workstation, I tried diabling UAC, tried Run As, added trusted sites, other browsers, IP/FQDN/name changes in URL. - no change.

Per my understanding that you got the error message when access the report manager in the client vista machine which have't install the reporting services instance and access to the Windows XP machine works fine, right?
I assumed that you have installed the Reporting Services instance in this WIndows XP machine, Could you please check in the third machine with the vista os to see if you will got the same error message.
The issue can be caused by many factors:
If the third machine can connect to the report manager remotely, the issue can be caused by this vista machine.

Can't update my Ipod classic's software. My Window's Vista Home Edition will not load the latest version of Itunes, and the older versions will not allow my Ipod to connect to the update server

I have an Ipod Classic, 80 gig. It's over 3 years old. I have a Samsung SensR410 laptop, also over 3 years old, running Vista Home Premium 32bit but '64bit Compatible'
I had iTunes 8.
One day my Ipod stopped working.
I formatted it.
I uninstalled iTiunes.
I re-installed iTunes.
But the latest version would not be loaded on my PC. I chose English as the language, but because I bought my laptop in Korea, some parts of the installation were in Korea. I uninstalled it, following the steps here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
I re-installed iTunes 8. It loaded, but when I plugged in my Ipod, it said that the Ipod needed to be updated/restored, 'click to contact updater' but then it could not contact the server. I tried: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1814but it didn't help.
I tried downloading iTunes 9, it loaded, but the Ipod would not connect.

You should still be able to manually manage the music on your iPhone within iTunes. Make sure that when your iPhone is plugged in, look in the Summary tab to see if “Manually manage music and videos” is enabled and you can even you turn off Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected. Does anyone know how I can get my "waiting pacifier", the very standard SOLITAIRE, that I have been playing for over 10 years? I want to install this on my Windows Vista Business 64-bit T500 notebook? I am not interested in buying a more fancy version of this.

I installed the developer suite 10g in my machine successfully.[vista-business edition]
I saw Steve Cosner's thread.I installed as per the thread.
Forms 10g installed and running on Windows VistaBut I cant succeed to run the forms in mozilla. it shows error "connection was reset". what can I do?

Be aware that if you are running on Vista, your Forms version must be 10.1.2.3 (meaning 10.1.2.0.2 patched to 10.1.2.3)
If the browser is crashing it generally means one of the following is occurring:
1. There is a JRE version conflict. This most often occurs when a plugin uses a different java version than the JRE you are trying to launch. Try disabling all the browser plugins except the JRE
2. The JRE installation is corrupt. Uninstall ALL JRE versions which have been installed. Reboot the machine. Then, with ALL browsers closed, installed just the version you want to use.
3. Windows DEP or UAC settings are preventing the JRE from starting correctly. Relax the UAC settings and ensure that DEP is not blocking the javaw.exe or java.exe processes. Changes to either of these settings will require reboot.

WindowsPowerShell removal to upgrade from Windows XP SP3 to Windows Vista Business

I see five suggestions, but I'd like to give you more information first. I have Windows XP Home Edition w/SP3. I'm trying to upgrade to Windows Vista Business Edition. When attempting to do this, i get a message that, in essence says that I need to remove
WindowsPowerShell. I believe that I have v1 installed. I can't remove it from Control Panel, its not listed, and yes, I have the updates box checked. There was a posting on another forum that said to try and remove it from PowerShell. I followed those instructions
and this is the result:

I understand that WPS may have been installed as part of a Service Pack, and that's why the KB926139 became involved. After going through all of the Programs and Updates in Add/Remove Programs, I did not find either WindowsPowerShell or KB926139. I did go
into the registry, and found it there, and obviously, it must be installed because I used the WPS command line to obtain the information in bold print. Does anyone have suggestions/ideas on how I
can uninstall WindowsPowerShell so that I can upgrade to Vista?

RSP No se puede abrir aplicacion en WIN VISTA BUSINESS SP01 para configurar

Instalé el RSP en el servidor de un cliente que tiene como sistema operativo WINDOWS VISTA BUSINESS SP01. La instalación se hizo sin problemas, no marcó ningún error. Pero al querer abrir la aplicación para su configuración marca un error
"AGENT SERVICE UNAVAILABLE". Intentamos resintalar de nuevo pero nos marca un error y es el mimos al querer borrar la herramienta desde el panel de control.

Buenos días Nancy,
El Agent Service al que hace referencia el RSP se refiere al Agent Service de SQL, en ese caso como dices que lo instalaste en el servidor es de suponer que tienes SQL Server instalado también allí.
Debes ir a Herramientas Administrativas y configurar este Servicio para que inicie Automático y luego Iniciarlo tu misma esta vez para no tener que reiniciar el servidor.
Luego vuelve a intentar con RSP.
Que la pases bien!
PD: ¿Seguro que el servidor tiene instalado Microsoft Windows Vista Business Edition?

Any suggestion, what could be possibilly wrong?
PS: Using package explorer view, I have imported the struts-config.xml, and now the WEB-INF folder is visible in the J2EE Explorer view,( Before WEB-INF was not visible in J2EE Explorer) ?
The action class should be under the WEB-INF/class/action/StrutsClass.java, but in this case my action class is under source/action/StrutsClass.java, does it makes any difference, should I have to create a folder (class) in WEB-INF manually? and Idea

How to upgrade to Vista from Windows XP Pro on system preloaded with Vista Business?

I have a new T61p preloaded with "Genuine Windows Vista Business downgrade to Windows XP Professional" and had it shipped with the Windows XP Pro downgrade.
Where can I can find the procedure to "upgrade" back to Vista if/when I decide to do so? I would also like to know the pro's and con's of doing so. For example: will I need to reload my applications, etc?
Please advise.

Firstly you should create recovery discs for Vista and backup your files before downgrading to XP. When you are ready to revert back to Vista you can use these to install it.
The discs will return your T61p to it's factory state. Beforehand you will need to backup files and yes you will have to reload all your applications.

Can we install oracle 10g database on Windows Vista Home Edition?

You didn't specify which Oracle10 Edition.
In the case of SE/SE one/EE, with a paid license Supported has a mean impact on production environments with paid licenses, since you wouldn't run on an unsupported platform facing the risk of being left without technical support from Oracle in case of an emerging issue.
For the XE Edition, this is not a certified combination, since the only certified editions are the Business, Enterprise, and the Ultimate editions, but you can try it, you don't have nothing to loose, supported, certified vs. unsupported in this case makes no difference since this XE is not supported either way (no patchsets, no bug fixes, no technical support from metalink), just an AS IS free software.
On the license agreement terms displayed when you download the XE software it states:
"No Technical Support
Our technical support organization will not provide technical support, phone support, or updates to you for the programs licensed under this agreement."
and
"THE PROGRAMS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE FURTHER DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS AND IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE."
In case someone would be able to win a trial against oracle due to damage from the use of this software, the amount paid at maximum is 1,000.00 USD, not enough to even pay the lawyer's lunches.
For the XE users the primary source of 'kind of support' is the oracle forums, either the installation forum, the general database or the specialized XE forum.
Of course if this is for your own personal use for learning and testing and there are no third parties you could damage by doing this and if you don't have a paid license for this installation you may try it, but don't expect the Enterprise Manager to behave as defined by the manual, most of it won't work since the Home Edition doesn't have the privileges required for EM to work.
If this is your personal computer and when you bought it the computer provider installed from factory Home Edition, and if you want something to work there, you can try to install a Virtual Machine and install Oracle 10g on a supported guest OS.
