Hi,
Please can you check the connectivity with Integration server. Also try to login via ABAP stack using tcode SXMB_IFR.
Also refer below optionas
1. Check if the host entry is correct or not?
2. Refer the upgrade related issue mentioned in the forum
problems after patch abap/java sp04 to sp07 and cimmodel/cr data on PI7.1
Also check this note 621437
Thanks

  • J2ee Hanging and thread number growing

    Hello all,
Nearly every day our XI system hangs. The Abap stack works
normally, but the Java stack no longer allows any connections (http,
    visual admin).
After the "WaitingTaskCount" KPI reaches its threshold (RZ20 - Kernel->Application Threads Pool -> WaitingTasksCount), the j2ee engine is hanging. We noticed a very high number of thread (442). When we telnet on the
J2ee engine on port 50008, we jump from the dispatcher to the server and we execute a garbage collector, the j2ee engine is available again but
it hangs again 2 hours after.
    Regards,
    Vincent

    Nadim,
Please check SAP Note 764417 - Information for troubleshooting of the SAP J2EE
    Engine 6.40.
It is very useful to have a full thread dump if the J2EE Engine is running with high
CPU consumption, or an Out of Memory error. See SAP Note 710154 - How to
create a thread dump for J2EE Engine 6.30. I think SAP recommend that you create the thread dump once the J2EE Engine is running properly and once when an error occurs.

  • Problem with Polling interval at sender side in JDBC adapter

    Hello,
I have some problem in investigating one serious issue using this polling interval,
I am using the sender JDBC adapter where i used polling interval as
    60(in secs) and 1(in Msecs).
So it comes upto 60.001 secs of polling interval.
There are nearly lots of threads which are in sleeping state on one particular sender channel making the J2EE hang. When i went to look inside the CPA cache i saw that the polling interval was mentioned as only 1Msec rather than 60.001 Secs because of which with in some seconds all the threads are blocked and J2EE hangs due to lack of threads.
Can you please provide some solution to this problem as soon as possible?
Here are few questions which i got when i am doing this process,
    1. Is that the polling interval is sum of 60(secs) and 1(msec)?
    2. Which value is been read either secs or msecs?
    3. Will there be any precedence among those two values(secs and msecs)?
    THanks,
    Soorya

    Poll Interval (secs)
Number of seconds that the adapter must wait if no files are found for processing.
    ●      Poll Interval (msecs)
    Additional waiting time in milliseconds.
If you set Poll Interval (secs) to null, processing times will be short and close to real time.
If you set Poll Interval (secs) and Poll Interval (msecs) to null, the adapter is only called once.
    ●      Retry Interval (secs)
Specify the number of seconds that the adapter is to wait before a file processed with errors is processed again.
If the value is set to null, then the adapter is canceled if an error occurs, even if a value greater than null is specified for Poll Interval (secs).

    Hi!

    init:
    deploy:
[echo] Deploying ears ....and that's it. No errors, no exceptions, nada.
What is the problem? Do I need any special permissions? I have even tried deploying as root and it still just hangs.
Thanks for any help that you might provide.

I ran into the same problem.
"stracing" the hanging process I found that the installer tried to connect to an IP mapped to my hostname in /etc/hosts:
    bind(6, {sa_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(0), sin_addr=inet_addr("0.0.0.0")}, 16) = 0
    getsockname(6, {sa_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(38792), sin_addr=inet_addr("0.0.0.0")}, [16]) = 0
    connect(6, {sa_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(36047), sin_addr=inet_addr("192.168.1.107")}, 16) = -1 EHOSTUNREACH (No route to host)
Problem was that the mapping of my hostname to IP 192.168.1.107 was not valid any more. Updating the IP mapped to the hostname to the current IP AND RERUNNING the setup procedure solved the problem.

  • Sneak Preview sp11 Slim Java install hangs on J2EE Startup

I looked around at the other instances of this type of error, but they seemed to be slightly different issues (or at least, at differenst steps).  Tried what helped them anyway, though it didn't really help.
My install hangs at the Start J2EE Engine (step 21 of 24 normally).  It seems to retry every 20 seconds, but never gets anywhere and eventually pops up an error.  I've retried from there, stopped and restarted, wiped out the whole install and tried again.  I've repeated this for several versions of Java, the latest being the 1.4.2_08 version.  They all get to the same part and die.
This is the error right before it gets into full swing on the waiting/retrying.

    That files says:

SAPSTART finished successfully on ITLAP_J2E_00, but at least one process doesn't run correctly:
    C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\exe\sapstart.exe=>sapparam(1c): No Profile used.
My os is XP, and seems to meet the min system requirements for the slim version.
Any ideas on getting over this hump?
Edit:  After talking with someone at the ICC, turns out pretty much that I shouldn't be trying to install the slim version.  So, time to go find a machine that can handle the normal Java install.

Looking around at other experiences as well as my own several attempts (just tried an installation on XP several times this evening), none of this stuff works and SAP could not possibly care less.  A clearly deeply flawed installation has been sitting around for 5 months now...  one is left to wonder what highly specific conditions are required for success.
Good luck to you... I give up.

  • J2EE engine hangs on status Starting Apps

    Hi All
We are currently experiencing issues with our J2EE engine.  When we start it, it goes up to the status Starting Apps and never leaves that status.  There are no errors on any of the logs/traces under work directory or the server0/log directory.
We are running EP 700 with Kernel Patch 146 on windows 2003 server.  If anyone has seen this type of issue, please advice.
I have attached a java dump from std-server0.out file. I hope that helps

Whenever there is a hang or slow performance situation in j2ee engine, one needs to take a few threaddumps on the server and dispatcher processes. In case of 'Startng applications' hang situation, take 5 threaddumps at an interval of 1 minute each. The threaddumps are directed to std_Server0.out file. Please open this file with the Angel's threaddump viewer (SAP Note 1044373, 1020246). You could check for the blocked threads (which hang the engine), runnable threads in the same state over the course of theaddudmp (making system slow), the no. of free application threads - if 0, it means the engine has run out of applicaiton threads. Configure MaxThreadCount of ApplicationThreadMananger for server to 250+ (mostly required by most of the applications, some XI apps need over 350).
Last but not the least, one should also check garbage collection logs. Multiple back to back GCs could slow down the system. In this case, check if the JVM parameters are maintained as per note 723909.
If you are seeing high CPU usage on the system during the hang/slow performance, refer to note 742395.
    Hope the above helps.
    Regards,
    Snehal

  • J2EE Patch Upgrade Hangs

When executing the J2EE upgrade from PL19 to PL24, the install process hangs at 0% after clicking on 'start' button.  Has anyone else encountered this issue?  If yes, then how did you solve it?
We're in a standalone J2EE environment not cluster...therefore, the major J2EE architectural changes (between patch levels) don't apply according to the notes.

Just referring to one of the newest SAP Notes regarding J2EE engine upgrade (720148)...It says, "PL 21 Standalone version of SAP J2EE Engine contains no architectural changes and only bugfixes. If one applies SP21 standalone version, the recommendations for cluster version as well as the additional sizingestimations are not necessary. PL 21 Standalone version is pure bugfix release."
As of today, I don't see any notes regarding PL 23.  At any rate, we're sort of off the main issue.
I've tried upgrading from PL19 to all other releases above that (PL20 and higher) and I get the same result of the install hanging at 0%...any ideas?
I want to upgrade beyond PL19 because of the EP6 SP2 Patch 4 requirements.

  • ABAP process hangs when calling a jCO Server J2EE-available RFC

    Hi there
    Here's the scenario:
We have deployed a jCO server under the SAP WAS. This jCO server implements two functions. They are both called from ABAP process through RFC. We are using the same RFC destination for both
First function is defined with import/export parameters and the second one only operates with a TABLE parameter.
Incidentally, these functions are captured by the jCO server, which calls an IBM MQ server
First function works fine. Second function hangs and there is not even a timeout so the ABAP process (run on foreground) can stay forever.
The interesting part is that the same application works really fine when called from a Tomcat using a standalon instance of the jCO.
    Additional info:
We have noticed that some time after the second function gets called, there are five dumps on the system (the same amount of servers we make available). These are CALL_FUNCTION_SIGNON_REJECTED.
The fun part of the dumps is that the user making the RFC call is a different user that the one we use for the jCO connection, and the client number is '000', instead of the '728' we are using for the connection. Somehow they seem related but we do not know how yet:
    Short text
You are not authorized to logon to the target system (error code 1).
    What happened?

  • J2EE Windows Installer on XP Home Edition hangs - nothing happens.

Hi, I would appreciate help from anyone. I got an ACER Ferrari 3000 lap top with Windows XP Home Edition (it's pre-configured and it's dificult to get running all bluetooth driver on the XP professional, so I am stuck with the home edition). However, I use it to work on J2EE apps I take home from work so I can keep up. I use Tomcat 5 and I got the jsdk 1.4 with the JAVA_HOME set correctly... Well anyway, I did not have problems until recently when I tried to install the J2EE (j2eesdk-1_4-dr-windows-eval.exe) from SUN with the app server. Funny thing is - I run the executable, it says it's extracting files, it does just so (I guess) for a few long seconds, and then it dies. No errors, no output. No directories either. I searched the registry, the system directories, the control panel, the event log - no trace of the installation. I can't install J2EE (Yes I know XP home edition is not supported - but still, it should install). I found some Korean topics about it but I do not read it. Any one? Please... Thanks.

Please try this: rename j2eesdk-1_4-dr-windows-eval.exe to j2eesdk-1_4-dr-windows-eval.zip and unzip it into some temporary directory using WinZip or some similar tool. Then open command prompt, cd into the temporary directory and run setup.dos command. Note any error messages that might show up in command prompt.
One thing worth checking: do you by any chance have file called C:\Documents on this system? If so, this is known to interfere with installer bootstrap mechanism and you'll see message saying "Error writing native components" in command prompt. As workaround, temporarily rename the file and start installer again.
If you get different error message please post it here.

  • Web as 640 sp9 hangs by step "deploy via SDM/J2EE"

    Hi,
I tried to install the sp9 for many times - very frustrating - can anyone help please ?
    Follwing products have been installed:
    1. webas 640, sp3
    2. webas 640, sp8
    3. ep6 sp3
    4. ep6 sp6
    5. But now it struggles - I have problems with applying the <b>patch 9 to webas</b> , the steps until to "deploy online" were sucessfull, but the step <b>"deploy via SDM/J2EE" has an error</b>. In the SAP MMC the process SDM was yellow, and stopped. The file callSdmViaSapinst.log shows:
<i>Nov 24, 2004 8:48:18 AM  Info: SDM operation mode successfully set to: Integrated
Nov 24, 2004 8:48:18 AM  Info: Initializing Network Manager (50017)
Nov 24, 2004 8:48:19 AM  Info: Checking if another SDM is running on port 50018
Nov 24, 2004 8:48:19 AM  Error: Could not start SDM - another Server may be running already.
Nov 24, 2004 8:48:19 AM  Error: Another SDM is running already for this SDM_HOME directory. Exiting. Throwable: com.sap.sdm.client_server.launch.SDMRunningException Throwable message: Another SDM instance is running on this host</i>
So I stopped the SDM with <i>stopserver</i>, started it again with start <i>sdm jstartup "mode=standalone"</i>
and restarted sapinst - now it worked until the component com.sap.rprof.remoteProfile , now I have the message:
<i>ERROR: NOT updated. The Deploy Service returned the following error: For detailed information see the log file of the Deploy Service. Exception is:
com.sap.engine.services.rmi_p4.P4ConnectionException: Possible problem: no available running server node. Check your running servers.</i>
What now ? I stopped the server, restarted the sapinst from the beginning - the same result. Whats wrong ?
    Thanx a lot,
    Martin

I had this same SDM issue during an install. I simply stopped and started the instance. and then restarted the install.
However I would review the consiole logs and see why the server would not be running. If the server starts up and then dies it is probably something related to the java paramters. If you changed the paramters via configtool and you properly apply them, I would restart the instance and then kick of install again...
    This process worked for me.
    Hope this helps,
    John

  • Hanging threads in J2EE/Portal 7.0

    Hi,
How to check/know the hanging threads in Portal 7.0 system
what is the cause and avoid
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Do you have Wily Intro-scope in your landscape? If yes then you can refer to this doc :
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50973df5-e1d1-2c10-cf89-c177fbfd7e65?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true
Otherwise, you can goto NWA->Availability and Performance management-->Java system report or LogViewer and explore options there.
Normally,i refer to Java system reports.

  • J2EE/JSP/EJB - ojvm debugging hangs

I'm using JDeveloper version 10.1.2.0.0 (build 1811) at following enviroment:
    Server: Windows XP
    Client: Windows XP
    JAVA:1.4.2_04 that comes with Jdev
    I have the following problem:
I have a project with *.jsp and *.java files when i try do debug a java file using
the ojvm he get's to the breakpoint then if try to the debug using step over/step into
the process hangs no exception and no coming back. If i use the others vm (hotspot, client or sever)
Jdev doesn't hang. The problem only occurs where debugging with ojvm.
When the debug process hangs no way to know what it's doing cause it's not
possible to pause (cliking the debugger pause button there's no reaction) just stopping de
process by cliking 2 times at the debug stop button.
I changed from Jdev 9.0.5.16.15 to Jdev 10.1.2.0.0 (build 1811) same problem.
    Any help?

I see. A logger is software that catches the fallout and presents it to you.
Well, I'm slightly resistant because I can program this stuff OK, but I work from home .. there's no backup for me, no sysad to help. I've recently moved to Linux and I'm groping around it. So I fear a day or two of non-productive farting about trying to get a logger to work, and I could do without it.
Then again, it can take me a good while to debug something blind.
So. Any recommendation for a simple logger? Are they java or do they depend on the OS? Oh, and free/open source of course :-)
Or, if anyone could tell me how to get my printlns to work that would be good too :-)

    Hi Luc,
please check the log files of the SCS instance and check if the port is available and running. Maybe the port is already in use before, but this information should be given in the log file.

  • J2ee Admin User locked on SDM Deployment - BI 7.0 and EP 7.0

    Hi,
We had a recent issue on BI iview publishing from the BEX WAD 7.0 in our Production Portal server.
The BEX WAD had the error " Java communication error"
" An Error occured during communication with the BI Components of the J2ee engine"
We traced down to identify that the current stack NW 7.0 SP14 BI Components had issues and had to patch to the next level
However, during deployment of the patch using SDM, the components (all) failed posting the following error. The SDM deployment got struck and the J2ee Engine user j2ee_admin was locked.
Only a restart of the j2ee engine is allowing us to get the Visual Admin connected. But the SDM deployment again is failing and admin user gets locked. Is there any tested solution to solve this.
    Kindly help asap.

    Hi Anup,
The restart unlocks the j2ee engine admin user and i am able to login to Visual admin and SDM and not otherwise (SDM is hanged and doesnot allow another session and hence only restart helps me to get into SDM again)
Admin Pwds reset etc from config tool secure store and all possible solutions have been tried before restart.
However, after restart, when we try to deploy again, the deploy fails saying the same msg
