J2ee Ri server outperforms jboss server?

Hi everybody,
I'm faced with an odd situation the production server i'm deploying
is about 16 times slower to load a bunch of objects into cache.
Normally the ri server should be outperformed by the jboss server.
I'm using entity beans only and 2 session beans.
Is there any configuring i can do to speed this up?
Filip

I found thqt turning the default load strategy to onfind and the amount of beans to 1 caused a tenfold speed improvement on everything involving entity beans.

    PointBase:
    the .lck file was not being deleted due to a permission error, and that led to a string of events that would cause the check point error. (e.g. a rollback would be attempted on every access to the db)
    Adding "FilePermission delete" to the servlet block of the lib/security/server.policy file fixed the problem.
    or
    After installing the Sun ONE Studio 4 update 1 software, I'm receiving errors trying to use the J2EE RI server, the PointBase database, and/or the internal UDDI Registry. How do I fix this?
    Applicable to release S1S4u1 EEfJ. Also applicable to releases: S1S7 EEfS (Solaris environment only)
    If you are in a Solaris(TM) environment and plan to use the PointBase Server 4.2 Restricted Edition database, the J2EE(TM) Reference Implementation 1.3.1 server, the internal Java(TM) Web Services Developer Pack's (JWSDP) Tomcat 4.1 server, or the internal UDDI registry server packaged with the Sun(TM) ONE Studio, Enterprise Edition for Java(TM) software (IDE), be aware that you must have write access to the IDE directories used by these components. To ensure a writeable IDE installation, install a personal copy of the Sun ONE Studio, Enterprise Edition for Java software in your home directory and run the product from this location.
    Please note that the default Solaris installation procedure causes the <s1studio-install-dir> tree to be owned by the root user. Therefore, a non-root user running the IDE will be denied write access resulting in errors when attempting to run any of these packaged servers.
    To install a personal copy of the Sun ONE Studio 4, Enterprise Edition for Java, please use the following instructions.
    If you have the Sun ONE Studio 4 update 1 CD, do the following:
    1.Be sure you are logged on as 'yourself', not a root user.
    2.Insert the CD. NOTE: If the Auto run feature is enabled, an installer wizard appears and asks for the root password. Close this wizard. Do not install this product as root user.
    3.From the directory where you want the IDE installed, type /cdrom/s1studio/image/ffj_installers_ee/ffj_ee_solsparc_en.bin
    4.Follow the install panels, using the Sun ONE Studio 4, Enterprise Edition for Java Getting Started Guide (found at http://forte.sun.com/ffj/documentation/s1s41/getstartedee41.pdf )for any additional information.
    If you have downloaded Sun ONE Studio 7, Enterprise Edition for Solaris from the web site, do the following:
    1. Go to this web site http://www.sun.com/software/sundev/jde/buy/index.html and read the section called "Before you Download" for additional pre-install information.
    2. Scroll to the area entitled Enterprise Edition for Java and click on the Try & Buy Download link. This takes you to the Download Center Login page.
    3. Enter your username and password to login, (you may need to register). Accept the license agreement. You will be presented with the download page.
    4. Be sure you are logged on as 'yourself', not a root user.
    5. Find the correct file for the Solaris platform, ffj_ee_solsparc_en.bin, (151.54MB), and click the link to begin the product download, saving the file into a download directory of your choice.
    6. Once the download is complete, set the DISPLAY environment variable to display to your local system, for example: % setenv DISPLAY your-local-system:0.0
    7. Set the execute permission on the ffj_ee_solsparc_en.bin file by typing: % chmod a+x ffj_ee_solsparc_en.bin
    8. Execute the installer as a non-root user by typing (from the download directory): % ffj_ee_solsparc_en.bin
    9. See the Sun ONE Studio 4, Enterprise Edition for Java Getting Started Guide (found at http://forte.sun.com/ffj/documentation/s1s41/getstartedee41.pdf ) for additional installation and configuration information.

  • J2EE app server not able to compile JSP

    Hi,
    I have just installed J2EE app server and am trying to deploy a JSP. The following error is generated. can anyone help me please.
    Thank you,
    Deepika.
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP
    No Java compiler was found to compile the generated source for the JSP.
    This can usually be solved by copying manually $JAVA_HOME/lib/tools.jar from the JDK
    to the common/lib directory of the Tomcat server, followed by a Tomcat restart.
    If using an alternate Java compiler, please check its installation and access path.

         org.apache.catalina.security.SecurityUtil.execute(SecurityUtil.java:306)
         org.apache.catalina.security.SecurityUtil.doAsPrivilege(SecurityUtil.java:200)

    This is a known issue.
    Here's an explanation of the behaviour you are seeing:
    The misleading error message is printed only in the case where a javac
    compilation error line number cannot be mapped back to a line number
    in the JSP source code.
    The internal representation of a JSP element ("JSP node") in the JSP compiler
    contains the following info:
    - The begin line number of the JSP element in the JSP page
    - The begin and end line numbers ("range") of the Java code that was
    generated for the JSP element
    When attempting to map a javac error line number back to the JSP
    source line, we determine the range into which the javac error line
    number falls, and retrieve the JSP source number of the JSP element
    associated with that range.
    However, in some cases, it is impossible to trace a javac error line
    number back to the JSP element that caused the error. For example,
    consider the following scriptlet:
    <%
    String query = request.getParameter("query");
    if(query != null) {
    out.println(query);
    } else {
    out.println("(null)");
    // } // <-- !Missing brace syntax error
    %>
    Since the JSP compiler wraps the generated code into a
    try-catch-finally block, the above syntax error in the scriptlet
    causes havoc with that try-catch-finally block, and results in 3 javac
    errors:
    <file>jsp.java:<line1>: 'catch' without 'try'
    } catch (Throwable t) {
    ^
    <file>jsp.java:<line2>: 'try' without 'catch' or 'finally'
    try {
    ^
    <file>jsp.java:<line3>: '}' expected
    Notice that all of the above javac error numbers are outside the range
    of the java line numbers corresponding to the scriptlet that caused the
    error, and therefore cannot be mapped back to any line numbers in the
    JSP page source.
    AS 8.0 PE does not handle this case correctly, and prints out the
    misleading error message (though the real error message can be found
    in the server log).
    Notice that this problem is going to be fixed in AS 8.1, so that if a
    javac error line number cannot be mapped back to a JSP page line
    number, the javac error is still returned to the client.
    In AS 8.0 PE, you need to check your server log to find out why the compilation failed.
    If you still have any problems, send me your JSP, and I will take a look at it.
    Thanks,
    Jan

  • How to refer to J2EE library server component from a web service?

    Hi,
    I need help!  I created a web service and it worked fine.  However, I started having problems when I tried to use java classes from my deployable J2EE library server component.  I got the NoClassDefFound error.
    I tried to include the library DC in the Used DC list and put the reference of it in the web service deployment descriptor xml (application.xml and application-j2ee-engine.xml), but it did not work.
    How do I refer and use java classes from my deployable J2EE library at run time from my web service application?  What should I do?
    Thanks,
    Giavinh Pham

    I would like to clarify more about the web service project.  I created a Java DC project and converted it into a web service as the SAP manual instructions.  It worked fine by itself, but I now want to use some of my classes that I deployed as a J2EE library server component.
    It was compiled and built when I refer to my J2EE library server component DC in the UsedDC.  It was deployed fine as well.  However, it broke when I tested the web service calls.  The class declarations and usage from the J2EE server component could not be found (NoClassDefFound error.)
    I thought it was because I did not have an application-j2ee-engine.xml in my META-INF folder so I created one and referred to the library in xml as type library and reference 'strong'.  I built and deployed again.  It still did not work.
    I examined the EAR and noticed that there were two parts of the EAR.  One is the WSAR archive file that contains the META-INF folder from my project and other web service assemblies.  The other part is the META-INF folder generated by the SAP NetWeaver IDE.
    The strange thing was that SAP NetWeaver IDE generated an application-j2ee-engine.xml without any reference to my J2EE library server component.  However, the nested application-j2ee-engine.xml in the WSAR archive file did contain the info.
    Since I cannot control the application-j2ee-engine.xml generated by SAP NetWeaver IDE, what should I do?  Is it the cause for my problem?
    Please advice, anyone?

  • Directory size of ...../ j2ee/cluster/server ?

    Hi Everybody,
    Can anyone pls tell me if their "server" directory size under ..../j2ee/cluster/server  increased drastically after the installation of the ME 2.1 Server component on J2EE Engine on WAS 6.20.
    A file called "dev_Icom" in the directory .../j2ee/cluster/server is taking away 11Gb.
    Please confirm.
    I am using J2EE SP24.

    HI,
    If you do not enter the cluster ID,the EOIO channel is activated automatically on a different working node.
    This configuration ensures node failover by the adapter in a clustered environment.

    Hi Stephen,
    This error
    Error(11,30): cannot access class oracle.j2ee.ws.server.ServletEndpointContextImpl; file oracle\j2ee\ws\server\ServletEndpointContextImpl.class not found
    is due to the Rules engine relying on parts of OC4J 10.1.3 since 10.1.3's version of wsserver.jar contains ServletEndpointContextImpl,
    C:\> jar tvf wsserver.jar | grep ServletEndpointContextImpl

    whereas BPEL-PM/OC4J 10.1.2GA (in oc4j/webservices/lib) does not.
    The inescapable conclusion from this is that this will only be officially certified when BPEL PM is released with OC4J 10.1.3.
    You might be able to try to import some of the dependencies from OC4J 10.1.3 preview, but only on an experimental basis, not for Production purposes.

    This is not an ADF related problem. I have the same problem when trying to start embedded OC4J with an simple JSP or servlet. OC4J complains about the missing class and the browser does not start automatically, but you can start the browser manually and type in the right URL. At least with servlets and JSP this works just fine - (but you are still right, it's the wrong forum).

  • J2EE App Server with virtual servers

    H! !
    I have a Win2K with J2EE App Server 1.4. Everything is working fine. In this computer I stopped the IIS 5.0 in order to use the HTTP Server included with the product.
    I also run the DNS on the same machine with 3 domains. All name resolutions for these 3 domains work fine.
    Now I want to enter to any of the 3 domains freelyand execute JSP apps. But I don't want to enter ports numbers like this:
    http://www.mytest.com:8081/hello.jsp
    I just want to enter:
    http://www.mytest.com/hello.jsp
    So I defined a new http-port listener pointing to the 80 port on this server. With no SSL support.
    Name: http-port80
    IP Address: 0.0.0.0
    POrt: : 80
    Return server name: <blank> (Should I put here the name of the computer?)
    Then I defined a new virtual server using the http-port listener. I set the following fields:
    ID: mytest
    Hosts: www.mytest.com (Should I put here the name of the computer?)
    HTTP Listener: http-port80 (This is the name of the port listener)
    Everything seems to be fine. I can enter http://www.mytest.com and call the hello.jsp it's ok.
    But then I create a new virtual server for http://www.mytest2.com exactly as the one for the www.mytest.com, except for the host field: http://www.mytest2.com
    Then when I restart the app server I got the message on the log: "Port already in use".
    I want to use the same http-listener because I don't want to enter http://www.mytest2.com:<port>
    Any ideas how to handle this?
    Am I doing something wrong on the configuration?
    Thank you very much!!

    What I want is to enter to any of the 3 domains freely and execute JSP apps. But I don't want to enter ports numbers like this:
    http://www.mytest.com:8081/hello.jsp
    I just want to enter:
    http://www.mytest.com/hello.jsp
    As far as I understand only by having an http-listener linked to the virtual web server I can achieve this goal, right? Or Am I on the wrong direction?

  • [ J2EE RI Server ] CORBA NO_PERMISSION 0

    Hi,
    I was trying to deploy one simple session bean into J2EE RI Server. It works fine. And I wrote one client to access this session bean, it show me
    java.rmi.AccessException: CORBA NO_PERMISSION 0 No; nested exception is:
    org.omg.CORBA.NO_PERMISSION: minor code: 0 completed: No
    Context ic = null;
    try
    ic = new InitialContext();
    catch(Exception e)
    System.out.println("1: "+e.toString());
    This exception is happend when I try to lookup the jndi name
    This error message is happend only on J2EE 1.3 (1.3_01) . If I downgrade to J2EE 1.3Beta or even 1.2, everything would be okay. Any one know how to solve such problem ??

    For at svare p mit eget sprgsml: Access and Security Issues Q1: Some applications that ran under J2EE SDK 1.3
    beta 2 stop running under the 1.3 FCS release with the
    following message: java.rmi.AccessException: CORBA
    NO_PERMISSION 0 No. Why does this happen and what
    can be done about it? When your application ran under the 1.3 beta 2
    version of the reference implementation (RI), security permissions may
    not have
    been checked. For example, the beta 2 RI allowed
    calls to enterprise beans that required username-password permission,
    even
    when the client provided no username-password
    information. With 1.3 FCS release, the J2EE SDK became strict
    about checking adherence to the security policies of J2EE components. How can you make your application run under the
    FCS release? 1.If you don't want security checks, do the
    following: Use the deploytool to build a deployment
    descriptor that does not require a strict security policy: Under the Security screen of the EJB wizard
    or the Security tab of the EJB inspector in deploytool, click
    "Deployment
    Settings..". Under the box "Client
    Authentication", make sure "Support Client Choice" is checked instead of
    "Certificate"
    or "Password". 2.To require the application pass security
    checks to run, do the following: When an enterprise bean specifies
    "Certificate" or "Password" as the method of Client Authentication, use
    a J2EE
    application client, instead of a stand-alone
    Java application, to access the bean. You will need to login as a valid
    J2EE
    user.

  • Configuring a J2EE Aplication Server in ALBPM as an external resource.

    The J2EE Application Server is my JNDI provider. I need to figure out these connections asap. The provider is coming from Websphere 7. If anyone can help please either e-mail me or post back here.
    Thank you all.

    Sorry - my friend working with WebSphere hasn't done it yet for 7. He mentioned that he did not have to bring in any JMS librairies for WebSphere MQ, but that he thought the configuration for the JNDI provider external resource should be the same as in 6. You just need the URL for the WebSphere server and the SOAP port.

  • J2EE Application server for CCA (Solaris 10)

    I know that CCA doesn't document Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server v2.1 for Solaris SPARC as a supported J2EE application server, but has anyone installed CCA with the newer versions of Sun GlassFish application servers? Can you share you experience if you've used other application servers on Solaris 9 or 10. Our install of CCA will use Windows for Telephony servers and the J2EE app/session servers on Solaris 10.
    Thanks in advance!

    We will be doing an install in January with planned Solaris 10 running Weblogic 10.3 and the Application servers will be running windows.
    The Matrix does not show this combination but we have mixed Linux web servers in the past with Windows application server OK with a 10G back end DB.

    can some one help If I have to add something to classpath or install any additional plugins.
    Thanks
    Sreekanth

    For sure you are missing a library as the 'Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.j2ee.ws.server.WSForwardServlet' error tells.
    You can use 'Tools'->'Manage Libraries' and paste the class name into the search field, search for it and see all libraries which contain the missing class. Add this (one of them) to the projects libs and it should work.
    Make sure you deploy to a server which is set up with the correct adf runtime libs (11.1.1.5.0 means you need a WLS 10.3.5 server).
