J2EE Shared Libraries - Multiple Versions

WLP 10.2, Studio 1.1
Below is the list of shared libraries in the wl console. There are multiple versions of some libraries. Does the performance improve if we remove them?

Hello,
The multiple versions of shared libraries are done for patching reasons; when a patch is issued it uses the slightly-higher version shared library to override the settings in the main library.
So you really don't want to remove any of them.

  • Shared libraries?

Is there an option or a solution within Photos to do shared libraries, multiple libraries on one computer and between multiple computers?  I am reading and initially it looks like there is less flexibility for this then there was in iPhoto/Aperature.  And the AD line of "For the first time, iCloud Photo Library gives you access to your entire Mac photo and video library from all your devices" doesn't work, when one iPhoto/Aperature library is 250GB, several others are 25-50GB each, looking at an aggregate over 500GB of media.  Not expecting this to be a DAM, but initially it looks like options are less.  Very hesitant about converting libraries at this point, and I have been running Photos Beta for several months now.
    Advice?

    Thanks.
I figured as much, I was hoping that they would have built some functionality into this for home/small business shared libraries.  With so many homes let alone small businesses that have shared networks that rely on sharing resources, it would seem obvious to build that function, but I guess there are other objectives.
We have been running iPhoto then Aperature for so long and it is integrated into all computers and devices.  Saying that we are not looking for a DAM is because we have managed to make a framework of networked libraries that does what we need, plus it is more hassle to switch to a DAM (plus I can't find one at a price we are willing to pay).
Just going to have to bite the bullet and switch to a DAM sometime soon.

  • HPUX shared libraries versions of XML parser v2 for C++

    Hi All,
Could somebody tell me whether Oracle have any plans to distribute shared versions of the xml libraries that ship with the C++ XML Parser for HPUX.
I am working on a project that uses shared libraries that in turn use the Oracle XML parser. I have managed to get the final executable to link to the xml static library (the symbols are unresolved when I link the sl, but sort themselves out on the final link) but HP do not recommend mixing static & shared libraries - and my code size increases by quite a bit using this method.
I would much prefer to use shared libaries as I do when I link the Oracle 8.1.6 libraries.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve Dalton

I was able to find out that the XDK libraries on HPUX for Oracle 8.1.7 are built with the +z compiler option (unlike the current versions on OTN for HPUX). So, that will give you position independent code and should allow you to build a shared library.

  • Multiple versions of Shared Variables on same network

I have 2 seperate reactors working on the same network each deploying ~50 shared variables (different names on each process) communicating with LV 8.5RT running on FP hardware.  One of the reactors is requested for new features and to be upgraded.  Is it possible to heve 2 different shared variable engines (8.5 and 2010) and versions on the same network and client computer, or am I asking for trouble.

  • Can client dynamically link to shared libraries for different versions ?

Can Oracle client dynamically link to Oracle shared libraries if the versions are different ?
    Hi:
I apologize for this newbie question:
We are using PRO C to generate the client C code.
We can compile both dynamic and static versions of our Oracle client.
    Our question is:
is it possible to compile a dynamically linked Oracle client in say version 10.1.0.2 and actually run the application against say version 8.1.7.0 environment ?
That is, can an Oracle client dynamically link to the Oracle shared libraries if the versions are different ?
If it is possible, then how to modify the makefile
to enable Oracle client to reference different versions
    of shared libraries ?
    Thanks
    JL

What you describe is not supported.

  • Finder shows multiple versions of same shared computer

Ever since upgrading to Yosemite my finder shows multiple versions of my computer in the "shared" panel of each finder window.  So, instead of just saying "Bedroom Computer," it says "Bedroom Computer," "Bedroom Computer (2)" "Bedroom Computer (3)," etc., five times in total.  I've tried renaming the computer in the sharing System Preferences panel -- the newly named computer appears in the side panel, but the multi-numbered versions of the old-named computer remain in the list as well.  They disappear if I turn off Wi-Fi, but re-appear when I turn wi-fi back on.  Any suggestions as to how to get rid of these phantom computers would be greatly appreciated.

The Mac that was causing the issue isn't on the network at the moment so I can't say if restoring all my base stations has helped the initial problem, but now I see something new.
Oh Darn, now I don't seem to be able to insert images.
What I'm seeing is my Mac Pro listed in “Devices” and in “Shared” in my Finder side bar, and no it fails to connect to itself if I try.
Wondering if this could be the new way to represent things when I'm using wi-fi and ethernet connections simultaneously.

  • IPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users

I'm thinking to buy the first Mac of my life...
Sorry for writing here but I'm an engineer and I don't like to much answer from commercial people...
Studying how to set up the new iMac, one possible problem is that my wife and me are working on Win 7 on the same photo library with two different account (while our little daughter cannot access it).
I've found this article in the apple support:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1198?viewlocale=en_US
But I’m not fully persuaded of the two possible solution.
    - usb external drive with “ignore permission on that volume” (I suppose that also an internal partition can be good)
    - image disk on shared folder
If I choose the partition with ignore permission I’m worried that my daughter can delete everything and I’m not sure that it is possible to backup everything with time machines…
If I choose the image disk “sparse” I’m worried about the performance (20gb of photo increasing…) and I’m not sure if I can exclude the image file from time machines and I can backup the mounted disk instead….
Is there any other solution, considering that could be even enough a read only access for my wife account (just to see the photo library and synchronize with her iPhone)
    Many thanks
    Riccardo

    Thanks for your answer,
You don't have to use an external disk or partition. You can simply put the Library in the Users/Shared folder and work from there.
Are you sure? The apple article HT1198 says: If two or more users attempt to use the same iPhoto library and the library is not on a volume where permissions are ignored, unexpected results may occur. This includes the inability to see or edit certain photos, or the inability to open the iPhoto library. Follow the steps below to avoid sharing iPhoto libraries in this manner.
If you're concerned about your daughter accessing the Library and trashing it: here's a way:
Create an extra Account on your Mac, call it Media. Create an iPhoto Library there. (BTW: This will work for iTunes too.)
Enable Sharing on the Library:(Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other accounts. In those accounts, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. The Library will appear in the other source pane.
This means that both all users will be able to see the pics. If you want to use a pic then simply drag it from the shared Library to your own in the iPhoto Window. This means that each user can have their own edits.
If you want to add or delete photos to the Library: Log into the Media account for that purpose. Obviously, don't give the kids the password for the Media account.
To make it all seamless: Set your Mac to log into the Media Account automatically. Set iPhoto to launch on log-in. Then switch to your own account using Fast User Switching.
Net result: a Library that's permanently available to all users but also protected. Each user can have their own versions of the pics if they want.
No partitioning, no permissions issues. Uses no extra disk space. What's not to like?
This could be perfect!!! I will see all feature of iPhoto on the shared library (events, places, faces, albums)? And is it also possible from my account to see the albums in iTunes to synchronize it with my iPhone?
Many thanks again for your help

  • Problem with iOS 4.3 Home Sharing with multiple iTunes libraries

I posted this in another thread, but because there seemed to be a number of issues going on there, I decided to start another thread to see if anyone else is having this problem.
I have a Mac Mini and a Mac Pro on my network. My iPad can see the iTunes library on each of them, but not both at the same time. If iTunes is running on both computers when I start the iPod or Videos apps on the iPad, only the Mac Pro library will show up in Shared libraries. To get the iPad to recognize the iTunes library on the Mini, I have to shut down iTunes on both the Mini and the Mac Pro, then start iTunes on the Mini. Naturally it also works if I have iTunes running only on the Mini when I start the iPad up. Anyone else seeing this behavior?

Ok, I think I have tracked down the reason this is happening and I have also found a solution to the problem.
    Cause:
If you copy your itunes music library from one machine to another using the finder (copying the directory ~/Music/iTunes) you will have 2 machines sharing the same library ID. This appears to cause the ipad and iphone running ios 4.3 to be unable to distinguish the 2 libraries and it ends up showing just one of them.
    Solution:
Use this KB (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451) to force itunes to rebuild your itunes library. This have resolved the problem for me and I can now see all 3 copies of my itunes library at the same time.
    OBS!
Be aware that if you follow this solution you and you are syncing a IOS device against the library you are rebuilding the IOS device will do a full re sync since it believes the library to be a new one.

  • Make Maven interpret Shared Libraries

I was curious if anybody has tried to make a Maven build reference a Weblogic J2EE shared library directly during the build. (Instead of breaking an existing J2EE shared library into its constituent jars)
Maybe a custom maven plugin ?
    Cheers

I ended up writing some custom jelly code to recognize shared libraries, unzip the same and used the maven:addPath operation to modify the classpath.
    <maven:addPath id="maven.dependency.classpath" refid="${dep.groupId}-${dep.artifactId}-${dep.version}.path"/>

  • Use of deployment classpath or shared-libraries to pick-up "custom" classes

    Hi,
I’m trying to determine an approach to dealing with how classes are found in a deployed ADF application via classpath, etc. I’ve tried to explain the situation below as best I can so it’s clear. If you have any comments/suggestions as to how this could be done, it would be much appreciated
    Current Application structure:
Consists of an application initially deployed to OC4J 10.1.3.4 using an alesco-wss.ear file
Application contains a single Web Module, initially deployed as wss.war file within the alesco-wss.ear file above.
The Web Module (wss) was built in JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 using 2 projects, a Model and ViewController project, and uses ADFBC.
The Model project seems to also generate an alesco-model.jar file in the /WEB-INF/lib/ folder, even though Model classes are in the /WEB-INF/classes/ folder below?
Exploded structure of application on application server looks something like:
    applications/alesco-wss/META-INF/
/application.xml <- specifies settings for the Application such as Web Module settings
    /wss/
/app/ <- directory containing application .jspx pages protected by security
/images/ <- directory containing application images
/infrastructure/ <- directory containing .jspx files for login, logout and error reduced security
/skins/ <- directory containing Skin image, CSS and other files
    /WEB-INF/
/classes/ <- directory containing application runtime class files as per package sub-directories
/lib/ <- JAR files used by application (could move some to shared-libaries?) – seems to contain alesco-model.jar
/regions/ <- directory containing .jspx pages used for Regions within JSPX template page
/templates/ <- directory containing template .jspx pages used for development (not really required for deployment)
    /adf-faces-config.xml
    /adf-faces-skins.xml
    /faces-config.xml
    /faces-config-backing.xml
    /faces-config-nav.xml
    /region-metadata.xml
    /web.xml
testpage.jspx <- Publicly accessible page just to test
The application runs successfully using the above deployment structure.
We plan to use the exploded deployment structure so that updates to pages, etc. can be applied individually rather than requiring construction and re-deployment of complete .EAR or .JAR files.
What I’m trying to determine/establish is whether there is a mechanism to cater for a customisation of a class, where such a class would be used instead of the original class, perhaps using a classpath mechanism or shared library?
For example, say there is a class “talent2.alesco.model.libraries.ModelUtil.class”, this would in the above structure be found under:
    applications/alesco-wss/META-INF/classes/talent2/alesco/model/libraries/ModelUtil.class
Classes using the above class would import “talent2.alesco.model.libraries.ModelUtil”, so they effectively use that full-reference to the class (talent2.alesco.model.libraries as a path, either expanded or within a JAR).
From the Oracle Containers for J2EE Developer’s Guide 10.1.3 page 3-17, it lists the following:
Table 3–1 Configuration Options Affecting Class Visibility
    Classloader Configuration Option
Configured shared library <code-source> in server.xml
    <import-shared-library> in server.xml
    app-name.root <import-shared-library> in orion-application.xml
    <library> jars/directories in orion-application.xml
    <ejb> JARs in orion-application.xml
RAR file: all JARs at the root.
    RAR file: <native-library> directory paths.
    Manifest Class-Path of above JARs
    app-name.web.web-mod-name WAR file: Manifest Class-Path
    WAR file: WEB-INF/classes
    WAR file: WEB-INF/lib/ all JARs
    <classpath> jars/directories in orion-web.xml
    Manifest Class-Path of above jars.
    search-local-classes-first attribute in orion-web.xml
Shared libraries are inherited from the app root.
We have reasons why we prefer not to use .JAR files for these “non-standard” or “replaced” classes, so prefer an option that doesn’t involve creating a .JAR file.
Our ideal solution would be to have such classes placed in an alternate directory that is referred to in a classpath such that IF a class exists in that location, it will be used instead of the one in the WEB-INF/classes/ directories, and if not such class is found it would then locate it in the WEB-INF/classes/ directories.
    - Can a classpath be set to look for such classes in a directory?
    - Do the classes have to replicate the original package directory structure within that directory (<dir>/talent2/alesco/model/libraries)?
    - If the class were put in such a directory, without replicating the original package directory structure, I assume the referencing “import” statements would not locate it correctly.
    - Is the classpath mechanism “clever” enough to search the package directory structure to locate the class (i.e. just points to <dir>)?
    - Or would the classpath mechanism require each individual path replicating the package structure to be added (i.e. <dir>/talent2/alesco/model/libraries/ and any other such package path)?
If we are “forced” to resort to the use of JAR files, does a JAR file used for the purpose of overwrite/extending a sub-set of classes in the original location need to contain ALL related package classes? Or does it effectively “superset” classes it finds in all JAR files, etc. in the whole classpath? That is, it finds talent2.alesco.model.libraries.ModelUtil in the custom.jar file and happily goes on to get the remainder of talent2.alesco.model.libraries classes in the other core JAR/location. Or does it need all of them to be in the first JAR file for that package?
Any help would be appreciated to understand how these various class visibility mechanisms could be used to achieve what is required would be appreciated.

So, nobody's had any experience with deploying an ADF application, and providing a means for a client to place custom classes in such a way as they're used in preference to the standard application class, effectively to implement a customised class without overwriting the original "standard" class?

  • Sharing Libraries across accounts on one computer

I'd like to know an easy method to share iPhoto libraries across accounts on one computer. It looks like iPhoto is more or less ignoring this topic. I have searched the web for tips, found some, yet the instructions are complicated and what seemed to be the best one didn't work. Anyone in this forum that can help me?

haha, brian has a hidden message in there.
Anyway, here all the links I have for sharing. The last link for using ACLs is the one I think you are thinking of.
    SHARING IPHOTO LIBRARIES
Sharing libraries between users on the same local network
You can also share a library on the same machine between users the same way.
Sharing libraries between users on the same machine...
-both users must have sharing enabled in their iPhoto Preferences
-both users must be logged in and have iPhoto running
-Remember that you can only view the other library. You can't edit the photos or play the saved slideshows or view the made books or burn them to CD or DVD. The books and slideshows will show up as an album. You can play that album as an "on the fly" slideshow. You can drag images from the sharing library to your library in the source column to import them to your library. You can then edit, add to albums, books, slideshow, etc.

You can try one of these three methods:
1- Use iPhoto Library Manager-the paid version
The documentation page will give instructions on how it is done.

  • Solaris 11 IPS:  How do you post multiple versions of the same package?

How do you post multiple versions of the same software package on a single IPS instance(port)? Oracle was able to do it here with versions 151 and 175 of S11:
    http://pkg.oracle.com/solaris/release/
Unfortunately, based on my searches, no where in the documentation (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/solaris11/technologies/ips-323421.html) does it explain to the development community how this is done. The best I can do is create pkg repo instances on different ports to host each different software version.
We are trying to deploy an IPS repository for our drivers and utilities that our customers can link to and pull updates from. We have been able to post a software package to the repository using the command:
    pkgsend publish -s http://localhost:1234 -d ./ Appv1.p5m
This posts the package on the IPS repository instance at port 1234 on the server. However, we would like to post multiple versions of the package on the server at the same URL. Why the same URL? So that our customers and end-users need only point to a single URL to pull down our software rather than having to add a new URL to the publisher list each time we have an update. We want at least 5 of the previous software versions to be available on the server. Posting each version of the application or driver on a different IPS instance on a different port will require customers to add multiple URLs to their publisher list and they also will not be able to initiate remote scans for updates.
Has anybody been able to do this? Is any documentation forthcoming?

dhduvall: Thanks for your response. Yes, one would think that as long as the version numbers are different, you should be able to accumulate multiple versions of a package in a repository. It looks like Oracle has done it in their S11 repository unfortunately, as far as I know, they have not shared the steps on how to do this. I would like to publish two versions of the same package. I.E. two different manifests with two different fmri.pkg version strings and two different binaries.
If I publish one package after another like this:
    pkgsend publish -s http://localhost:1234 Appv1.p5m
    pkgsend publish -s http://localhost:1234 Appv2.p5m
Then only the second package shows up in the repository, as if it over-wrote the first one.
Running pkgsend with two manifest, like this:
    pkgsend publish -s http://localhost:1234 Appv1.p5m Appv2.p5m
Will cause pkgsend to combine the packages and manifests as if they were a single package... not what I am trying to do.
Both approaches are complete without errors but neither achieves what I am trying to do.
alan.pae: Thank you. Unfortunately, the link didn't really help. I've read Oracle's white papers and IPS developer guide so I'm familiar with the topics covered.
Lex: Yes, I know. I specified the versions in the pkg.fmri value string.

  • How to use J2EE shared library in a team environment? Any help?

    Hi all,
I've created two portal web projects one as a shared library to share my portal resources (a saparate project
containging all the portlets) rather than the portal project that containing the other portal resources (portal look &
    feel & ...).
I've followed the steps to create a J2EE shared library (for portlets for example) by modifying META-INF/MANIFEST.MF file with the following variables added to it:
Extension-Name: MyPortalWebProject (as a shared library)
    Specification-Version: 1.0
    Implementation-Version: 1.0
and exporting the WAR file from the project that contains my portlets to be imported into the other portal project.
I can see the portlets available from the portal project but I can't use them as I get the following
    error:
No such portlet with URI (Portlet Name).
Did I miss any steps to be able to use the portlets from the shared library into another portal project?
If anyone has another scenario for how to separate all portlets in a separate project and share this with the main
    portal project, please advice.
    Many Thanks in advance.
    Mohamed

Without knowing what you have installed or what modifications you have done it is not possible to say what goes wrong. Like I previously mentioned, you may have installed an incompatible version of a core system library. Sorry, I'm not going to read any installation manual to find out what you might have done wrong. You may need to reinstall the complete system or just the popt installation package.
Based on my experience people sometimes seem to misunderstanding the concept of software version requirements, which are always minimum version requirements and does not mean, for instance, software made for gcc 4.1.10 does not work under 4.1.12. You cannot simply upgrade or downgrade core system libraries without affecting the installed system. Using YUM to install software will check this and prevent you from breaking your system. RPM does not check any dependencies and hence can break your system beyond repair.

  • Error while loading shared libraries: libglut.so.3: cannot open shared

Hi, I bought the new Humble Bundle today and downloaded the tar.gz file for Fieldrunners (which is supposed to work under linux)
"error while loading shared libraries: libglut.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" is the message I get when I put ./Fieldrunners into konsole after copying the fieldrunners folder into /opt
    I have freeglut-2.8.0-1 installed
    This is the README:
    This is Fieldrunners for Linux.
It was built under Ubuntu 12.04 but is known to work in other distros.
The only external dependancy is the freeglut3 library.
    To install:
copy the fieldrunners directory (executable and game assets) to /opt
copy the .fieldrunners directory (user options, achievements and saves) to your home directory.
If you don't want to copy the fieldrunners directory to /opt, you can likely start fieldrunners from any folder and it will attempt to find the assets in the same folder as the executable.
The executable /opt/fieldrunners/Fieldrunners will create the .fieldrunners directory in the home directory if not found.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, there is no PKGBUILD file in the tar.gz

    My Fieldrunners says:
cannot open audio device (Device or resource busy)
    Fieldrunners: pcm.c:928: snd_pcm_state: Assertion `pcm' failed.
... so I have to kill pulseaudio first (or use padsp). After that (with alsa), it has choppy sound. 1 second sound, one pause...
Spacechem is windows binary + a wine'ish blob (that just freezes on my machine), comes only as rpm/deb and seems to insist to be installed in /opt (AND some files in /usr/share). The included .exe doesn't work with native wine either (without further adjustments at least).
Doesn't really look good at all so far, this bundle.
    edit:
Also: Uplink seems to be unplayable on a big resolution Display without workarounds due to its small font...?
    Spirits says:
(Spirits-64:14143): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'image-missing' for stock: Fatal error reading PNG image file: Incompatible libpng version in application and library
... but seems to work fine at a first glance (safe for a missing picture in the launcher which isn't really tragic).
    edit:
( Aaaand, now I notice I'm in the wrong thread and/or forum. Where did that generic "is the bundle working?"-thread go? Stupid multi-tabbing xD )
