J2ME and Wireless Internet

Hello There...
I just want to ask which protocol is used by J2ME to use Internet Connection?
Urgent Reply is required...
Thanx in advance

thanx for the reply. but as far as i know, HTTP protocol cannot be used on wireless networks because of their low band-width. Only standards exist for using Internet on mobile phones and they are i-mode and WAP.
Then how can we use HTTP on mobile phones?

  • Ibook and wireless internet

I have an ibook G4, 466, that I use when the wife and I are out doing our RV thing. I would like to get away from the dial up modem and go to wireless.
However, I have been told that I can not use wireless internet with the iBook because the wireless internet requires some hardware to be installed.
Is anyone using the off the shelf ibook and wireless internet?
Or does anyone know what I need to do to start using wireless?
    Thanks

You can find the original AirPort card online at the following places:

These links had them available as of yesterday. They do list them as out of stock sometimes, but have been able to restock them. They are getting rarer and more expensive all the time, so the sooner you buy, the better.
I had one AirPort card conk out on me, so I recommend paying the $20 or $30 more for a new one. I would not buy a used one if I could avoid it.
    Good luck. Wireless is wonderful.

  • Relocating and wireless internet accessibility

I'm relocating and I'm wondering how I can find out if I have wireless internet access there and if I can keep my Fios or if I'll have to switch to another provider.
    Thanks.

You may want to post this on the Residential side of the forum as this is for the cellular phone side.

  • Unable to connect Officejet 6500 and Wireless internet simultaneously in Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I am using Mac OS Snow Leopard and Officejet 6500. Before upgrading to Snow Leopard, I was able to connect both my printer and my wireless internet simultaneously (Leopard OS). However, after upgrading to Snow Leopard, I'm able to connect only one of them at a time which is really very inconvenient. Whenever I need to print, I need to manually select "hpsetup" from the Airport drop down and wait for it connect. This disconnects my internet. Then I need to select my wireless internet option in the Airport drop down again once I'm done with the printing.
This is defeating the entire purpose of a wireless printer. Guessing that its a problem with HP developing the required driver for Snow Leopard. I've already downloaded the driver meant for Snow Leopard but this is not solving the problem.
Also, would like to know whether its a problem with everyone or specific to me?

OK, great questions.  I'll try to address them by number:
    2. I do not think this is possible.  I think your printer was initially connected to your router and has recently fallen off (thus broadcasting 'hpsetup').  Sorry, I am not saying you are lying, but I do not think it is possible without two radios.
    3. a.  Yes, you can only talk to one device at a time through your computer's wireless radio.
    3. b.  You can attach your printer wirelessly in case you need to move it, but....see "c" below.
    3. c. I would recommend that you attach your printer via a wired connection (Ethernet cable) to your router if you can.  It is by far easier to set up and more reliable in the long run.  I can help.
The wired and wireless sides of a router talk to each other.  By the time it gets to the router it really does not care if the connection is by wire or wireless, it treats all "clients" the same.  That is why I recommend to wire your printer to your router and keep a wireless connection between your computer and router.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Making Bluetooth and Wireless Internet on a IBM ThinkPad T41 work

    Hello Everybody,
I’ve bought a second hand IBM ThinkPad T41 yesterday. I want to connect wireless with my wireless internet point. But I’ve come to notice that there isn’t any wireless support on my ThinkPad 41T. Also I want to make an original Bluetooth connection point on my IBM ThinkPad T41.
My question is: what is wise to do first, is it wise to check in my ThinkPad to search my wireless component (and how do I do that). Or should order parts in order to make the wifi and Bluetooth work on my ThinkPad. And so where is the best place to buy and witch parts do I need?
Thank you for reading my question, I hope someone has the answer.

To add Bluetooth you would need to replace the existing modem card with the following FRU; 91P7315 ThinkPad Integrated Bluetooth with 56K Modem (BMDC) for T40/p, T41/p.  Then you would also need to install the Antenna FRU; 13N5515 Bluetooth Wireless Antenna Assembly XGA.

  • G3 and wireless internet conection

I have a 2yr old indigo iMac. I just bought a new iMac g5. How can I set the old machine up for a wireless Internet connection? I have a designated line for dsl in my home office and I want to put the older machine in another room for the wife & kids.

If this is an indigo 250 mhz iMac, there is no airport slot to install a card into. Only the blueberry 350 mhz machines and 400 mhz and up machines have airport slots. if you do have an airport slot, you also need the airport card adaptor.
Another option is ethernet based wireless bridges like those from linksys, dlink, belkin or macsense. Avoid usb based ones. nothing but problems with those.

Your wireless network will probably just work without any fiddling You could also launch your 'Airport set-up assistant' which should be in your Utilities Folder.

  • Privacy and Wireless Internet

My roommate has a Mac and a Time Capsule, and he has set up wireless Internet with and given me the password so I can use it.
However, I was wondering if there are privacy issues with the Time Capsule. For instance, can he in any way monitor my internet usage, such as what sites I'm visiting? I don't really care if he can see when I was logged in, but can he see that as well?

Hello GreggBarinski. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
However, I was wondering if there are privacy issues with the Time Capsule. For instance, can he in any way monitor my internet usage, such as what sites I'm visiting?
No, at least not natively using the Time Capsule/AirPort Utility. However, if his ISP or by using a third-party service/application, he potentially could.

  • Airport express and wireless internet at the same time???

    hello,
i recently replaced an airport express that broke. before i replaced it, my house was set-up with my macbook in one room, airport express in the living room and home-internet router in the office.
i dont remember how i did it, but i set it up so that i could be connected to the internet and airport express at the same time. right now, its one or the other. either connect to the airport and listen to music, or connect to the router and get internet...
now, i understand you can do this if u plug an ethernet into the airport express, but its in a different room than the router.
so somehow i need the router and airport to connect to each other wirelessly????????

Configure the AirPort Express (AX) using the instructions in KB 302153, AirPort Express: How to join an existing wireless network in client mode.

  • BBM and wireless Internet still not working. Help?

So ever since I updated my phone to the new 6.0 software version, my BBM and my wireless internet won't work. I've tried taking the battery out, restarting the phone, excetra, but nothing is working. I only got it about a month ago, so I'm extremly confused as to why it has stopped working. Can anyone help me?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
    Good luck!

  • Help!  Strange Problem with 23" Apple Cinema Display and Wireless Internet

For some reason, Safari runs much much slower on my housemates new 23" Apple Cinema Display than just on his new Macbook. He is running Tiger. We use Airport Extreme for house-wide wireless, and he has an Airport Express to connect to his printer. Here is what he wrote:
"Last night, I was watching videos on ABC.com --- not a problem to watch on my laptop screen (new Macbook) - very fast. Then, after dinner, I plugged in my external screen (Apple Cinema Display), and it was so slow and wouldn't load. I unplugged the screen, and it was lighting fast again, so I watched the videos on my laptop screen. This morning, I was plugged into the external monitor and the Internet was slow to check my email. I unplugged the screen, and it's lightning fast now on my laptop screen.
Does this make any sense??? Why would my external monitor affect the Internet speed? "

I am having a similar problem as well. When I attach my 23" cinema display to my MacBook core 2 duo, my connection to the internet immediately stops working. I have tested this several times and it happens every time I connect the Cinema Display to my MacBook. When I disconnect the Cinema Display, my internet connection works perfectly again. I'm stumped as to why this happens.
I have tried several different searches on the forums, but have found no other threads besides this one. I'm I won't have to suck it up and pay the $50 for the call to AppleCare support.

  • Software Installer and wireless internet problems after upgrade from Leopard to Lion.

Last weekend I upgraded the OS on my MacBook Pro from Leopard to Snow Leopard, and then from Snow Leopard to Lion. I'm having a couple of problems.
First, I cannot get the wireless internet to work. My internet connection is fine, I can plug the ethernet cord in and all is well. But I cannot get wireless signals to work. Have tried both my Airport Express and an old linksys router, and neither seem to work. They both worked just fine before the update. I had very fast wireless internet, and now nothing.  With the Airport Express, when I plug it in iti'll just continuously blink orange, and the Airport Utility refuses to recognize it. The linksys router seems to work, because it puts off a signal and my iPhone connects to it. My computer recognizes the signal, but it won't open any internet pages, says I'm not connected.
Today I tried to install Apple's Migration Assistant software to help with my first problem.  But a funny thing happened.  The software installer says I don't have enough space. But I have plenty- I have almost 200 GB, and I only need 5 MB for the program.  I've never seen this happen before, it's so odd.  Any suggestions?
    I really appreciate any assistance/suggestions!
    Thanks,
    Ellen

You can't purchase Snow Leopard from the Mac App Store.  Or "download" it.  That will be possible for Lion.
For the Apple Online store, why can't you just look for yourself?

  • Iphone and wireless internet

My question is whether an iphone would work via the wireless internet from my broadband??

    Marvin,
If you have a wireless router connected to your broadband internet, you should be able to connect the iPhone to it. For more information on connecting your iPhone to your Wi-Fi network, check out these articles:

  • New MBP logic board and wireless internet does not work anymore

    hi there
i had to change the logic board in my only 2 years old MBP15". i purchased a new one and put it in by myself (relatively easy task). i still use the same internal HD as this one still works fine, so all data are the same.
however, the new logic board has obviously a different "identity" from my old one, it came with a sticker which says "ethernet ID 001FF3513E7A" which is different from before. this may be the reason i can still access my wireless network at home, but the self assigned IP address prevents me from connecting to the internet. all settings are as before and it worked always without a problem.
all settings were "automatic" before (using DHCP), and i use exactly the same settings again, but no success. i have to add that i use a new mac mini in the same network with absolutely identical settings (automatic) and this one receives a free IP address from the router (which is only in the last number different from the router's), but the MBP shows a totally different IP address.
i could finally fix it switching to "manual" and adding the same IP address the mini is using and just changed the last number, which has to be different from the time capsule i use as wireless device and the mini. like this everything works just fine.
but why does the mac mini perform everything automatic and the MBP (even with the new ethernet ID - and especially since i connect wireless and not using ethernet) is not able to do so?
i worry if i want to use the internet in any wifi hot spot i may run into troubles...
any idea what the difference between these two machines (with identical settings) is?
    thanks and cheers
    george

Thank you. It didn't work unfortunately :((
Here are my router's details (Huawei):
    Product name HG655b
    Device ID 00E0FC-21530307237S0B028701
    Hardware version VER.C
    Firmware version V100R001C02B018
    Batch number RWC3P0.010.29066
    Physical address 5C:4C:A9:A5:41:B0
System up time 0 days 0 hours 15 minutes 56 seconds
I don't have Mac filtering enabled.
Now it doesn't even find the wireless network anymore...
My computer and itouch are connected to WAP, but the iphone could not connect to WAP, but only WEP.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks a lot!

  • I just moved and wireless internet is now provided for me. I am not using my Time Capsule as a router anymore but can I still use it as my storage device wirelessly?  So far I cannot get it to work. Please help.

    Hi,
I just moved to a new place.  I used to have my own internet setup and used my Airport Time Capsule as my router.  Now that I don't need to use it as a router I would still like to use it as a storage device for my pictures.  Can I still do that wirelessly or do I have to plug it into my computer?  And if I do (which would really be crumby) do I just use a USB cable?
Please help.  I have a lot of work stored on it and I am feeling pretty stuck at the moment.
    Thank you,
    Charlie

You can use your Time Capsule in your new network in a number of ways. One would be as a NAS device which I believe you are looking to do.
To do so, you would connect the TC to the new router by Ethernet. You would also want to reconfigure the TC as a bridge and disable its wireless radios.
You can do both of these using the AirPort Utility, as follows:
    Run the AirPort Utility.
Select the TC, and then, select Edit.
    Select the Network tab.
Change Router Mode to: Off (Bridge Mode)
    Select the Wireless tab.
    Change Network Mode to: Off
Select Update and allow the TC to restart.
