J2me for voip service

Hi all
I'm developing a MIDlet that'll enable the end-users to logon to my server and voice chat with each other.
1. Is SIP the ideal protocol for this?
2. If so, how do I go about it?
Thanx and Regards
Lelo

How can i handle VoIP project in J2ME,, i need some tutorials for making this project

    Hi,
J2Me do not support live streaming of VOIP data. So it would be better to perform VOIP tasks using C++ rather than using J2ME

You should only need a SIM in it to actually activate it in iTunes.  Once activated, leave the SIM in or remove it, it should not matter.
Then, turn on airplane mode.  And then, go into wifi settings and re-enable wifi (this leaves the cellular radio in airplane mode = powered off).
Now your iPhone is effectively no more than a (wifi only) iPod Touch.

  • Mobile number instead of VoIP service? (Korea)

    Hello,
Would it be possible for me to gain access to a Korean mobile Skype Number instead of a VoIP number?
For example, the number you get with a Skype Number has a mobile code "(70)," Which stands for a VoIP Service. However, a regular number consists of the code "(10)," which is what I would like, if at all possible.
    Thanks in advance!

  • N97 - No log-in from the VOIP service menu

I am stuck though I have followed Nokia's procedure for configuring my phone for VOIP calls: Log-in from the VOIP service menu doesn't happen. My SIP-profile is registered. However, I have two VOIP services defined (two globes) with the same name as a consequence of a problem when installing "S60 5.x SIP VoIP 3.1 Settings", then reinstalling, and I do not know how to delete one (the other displays my username correctly). Under the globe, the following text is displayed "Contact not on the contact list. To add, select 'Add fro..."  and no more. My phone is a N97 RM-505 with software version 21.0.045. Would appreciate any help. Thanks

  • Is QoS tools shape good for VoIP?

    Hi,
I have MPLS VPN scenario. For MPLS VPN at PE router connecting to hub, I've configured below QoS:
    class-map match-any P1
    match ip dscp ef
    class-map match-any P3
    match ip dscp default
    class-map match-any P2
    match ip dscp af31
    policy-map QoS
    class P1
    priority percent 35
    class P2
    bandwidth percent 40
    random-detect
    class P3
    bandwidth percent 25
    random-detect
Since on the egree PE towords the internet, I'm using subinterface thus, the configuration is:
    policy-map cust-qos
    class class-default
    shape average 256000
    service-policy output QoS
    interface FastEthernet1/0.8
    encapsulation dot1q 8
    ip address ...
    service-policy output cust-qos
Since the internet access is 256K, I've configured shape average 256000.
My problem is that, during high congestion at internet access, I noticed that on cust-hub my VoIP SIP is having problem to ring to another VoIP SIP within the same hub. Is it because of the shape command ?
    thanks in advanced

    Hi Maher,
shape average 256000 is to much. The point is, that you have OSI layer2 overhead and layer2 keepalives and such. Lower it to f.e. 240000. You might need to "play" a little with the parameter, as the overhaed depends on average packet size.
Also make sure, that your SIP traffic is marked with af31. Just as a note: Cisco changed from marking voip signaling with af31 to cs3. Take a sniffer and check that proper markings are in place for voip signaling. Or just try
    class-map match-any P2
    match ip dscp af31 cs3
Hope this helps! Please rate all posts.

  • Linksys support for VoIP adapters

I would like to know how to get in touch with Linksys tech support, via e-mail for instance.
I would like to report a bug and ask for help on a new product I just bought. There doesn't seem to be any tech e-mail I can write to, just this community forum which of course isn't endorsed by Linksys. I posted the following topics here:
    http://forums.linksysbycisco.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=VoIP_Adapters&thread.id=5459
    http://forums.linksysbycisco.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=VoIP_Adapters&thread.id=5458
If anyone can lend a hand I'd greatly appreciate it. I bought an SPA8000 on-line and don't really know where to ask for help or report bugs. I also tried the online chat service but it is unavailable for my product...
    Thanks in advance.

  • Distinctive ring vs. new line vs. adding VOIP service like Vonage or Ooma

I'm currently a FIOS/phone (double play) customer.   I need an additional phone number and am considering my options (getting a new line put in, signing up for a new VOIP service like VOnage, going cheap & just getting distinctive ring), trying to understand everything and weigh the costs/functionality/gotchas.
"Distinctive Ring" is a new option I just learned about, and it seems the easiest, and definitely the cheapest (around $5 extra a month).   However it also seems the most limited and there are a few things I don't understand for 100%.
If anyone can answer any of these questions I'd appreciate it:
    - Can you setup SEPERATE voicemail greetings for the existing landline vs. the new "distinctive" ring number?  Or would everyone calling hear the same greeting?
    - If only same outgoing message can be used, then I assume that each number uses the same voicemailbox, but can you setup different mailboxes for each line in a different way, like having your outgoing message say "Press 1 to leave message for Herman or press 2 to leave message for Granpa", thus create at least quasi-seperate voicemailboxes based on who the person was trying to call?  And if so, how?
    - As I understand it not all phones support "distinctive ring" - so how can I findout which of my existing phones do support this (other than signing up for the service then calling myself and seeing how the phones behave)?
    - Is there any way for my callerID boxes to show which # it is that is being called instead of just who is calling?
    - And is this true, that calling out I would only be placing calls from my original line, that for example on callerid of who I am calling, even if pressing callback on my phone and they called my new second #, they would see my original #, not the new one?
    Thanks for any hints.

Hi, the only tip I can give you is as far as testing if your phone is compatible with distinctive ring you could try one of two things, neither of which are free unfortunately.
    1) Call a number that is busy and then use Repeat Dial (*66) to let you know when the number is free. You will get a special ringback when the number is no longer busy.
    2) Try dialing *61 on your Verizon landline phone. In many states you will reach a feature called either Priority Call or Selective Distinctive Alert. If you add numbers to the list, when those numbers call you there will be different kinds of special rings on your phone.
Again, there will be charges on your Verizon bill to do either of these. If you use *61, be sure to clear your list and turn off the feature when you are done so you will not incur any further charges.

  • Can't Receive Calls on VOIP Service - Need to Check Port 5060

    Hi Everyone,
I use a the www.mynetfone.com.auy voip service. It seems that I'm unable to receive calls (randomly).
I was told by their support team that I need to ensure Port 5060 is active. I checked with my internet provider and they dont block access to this port.
    I need to know:
    1. How can i check to see if this port is actually blocked on the Time Capsule; and
    2. How do I allow access?

    1. How can i check to see if this port is actually blocked on the Time Capsule
By default, the Time Capsule (TC) employs NAT so all incoming ports are blocked.
    2. How do I allow access?
One method is to configure the TC to map port 5060 to the network device that is required to be accessed from the Internet. To do so, the device would have to be assigned a static IP address (or a DHCP-provided address must be reserved for it).

  • E60 VoIP Service Advice?

I understand from trolling this and other forums that a VONAGE Softphone account will not work with the E60 until NAT and other issues are resolved via a firmware update from Nokia.
Is this accurate? Might there be Vonage-based contingencies which would prevent even a nice firmware update from working? Or, can we expect that a unilateral solution from Nokia might be adequate to fix things?
What if any solutions are current working for using the E-series phones with VoIP services? I've managed to get SIPgate to register, and can occasionally make and/or receive calls, but it is quite unreliable.
    Advice appreciated. Thanks.

You need a VoIP "minutes" provider where you can send all your traffic (A-Z) ?
This you should post in VoIP "stock" forums. A good many of VoIP providers are hanging there offering their services. Usually there is a rule - large carriers (VoIP providers) with stable routes and good prices will accept to deal only with customers who have large volume of traffic.
I have a tutorial for choosting a reliable VoIP provider, unfortunately written in Bulgarian. I am in process of translating it into English language. Once I finish, I will post a link to it.

  • Snow and setting priority for voip voice packets?

I have an engine Voice Box 2 connected to my dual ethernet base station, for voip phone calls using a 1500kbps broadband connection. It all works fine, except sometimes the voice quality of phone calls isn't good - drop-outs occur. Engin support tells me there is a way to configure an airport BS to give priority to voice packet data over other internet data data, and this will improve the voice quality.
Is this possible with a snow BS, and if so how do I do it?

OK, Duane and anyone else. My question has been answered via telephone from Apple Australia, on Thursday 22 Feb 2007 at local time 9.01 pm. The answer is: There is no way that any version of an Airport BS can be set to prioritize voip voice packets over other internet packets of data.
Apple Supporters in other countries may disagree (not a surprise). I've been a Mac user since the first 1984 64K Mac, and I've not been too impressed with Apple phone service during the last 20+ years, so if another Apple tech elsewhere comes up with a different answer I would not be at all surprised.
So, first premise is my voip provider gave me incorrect info. Second one is maybe someone else gave them the incorrect info. One guess and no prizes as to whom this may have been.
Bigger surprise is that Apple seems oblivious to how popular voip phone is going to be in the immediate future, and that Mac users are likely to receive inferior quality voice quality and have no way to improve this by tweaking their Airports.

  • Skype and Other VOIP services not working on my N...

    Hi,
I got a new Nokia Lumia Icon with Verizon Wireless contract. I installed skype and when trying to make International Voice calls, all I see the blue backgroud with Skype call outgoing icon and then nothing happens. Sometimes, the call gets active as in it shows the seconds counter of the call, but nobody can here anything on either side of the call. I do have some credit balance in my Skype account.
I tried re-installing the app but to no avail.
I tried with both Wifi and Mobile data
Also, I installed Nimbuzz- a VOIP service and when tried to make calls, it behaved similar to above.
Previously, I had an Android device and when I tried to make same International mobile calls now in it, I am able to connect and talk without any issues. I also chatted with an Skype support team and they also couldn't help much. They said that I am reporting such type of issue for first time and told that one of their tech specialist will get in touch with me once they have completely assessed the issue. I haven't gt any response though.
Is anyone else facing issues with VOIP apps in Lumia Icon?
Also, are there any fix for these issues?
    Thanks

Thanks for posting your concern, Win_Phone. Do you have a stable internet connection when trying to make a call? Have you tried accessing any website using the phone's browser to verify the stability of the connection? Have you also tried connecting to another available Wi-Fi network to check if there's any difference? About the audio, does it happen as well if there's a headphone connected to your phone? BTW, do you also have an issue when you are not using the Skype app?
We'll wait for your response so we can help you further.
