J2se 1.4.2 Installation Errror 'failed to extract file'

Hi,
I am running windows 2000 and am trying to install the J2SE v 1.4.2, SDK and keep on getting this error in the install shield:
"Failed to extract file 'dll.ini' from binary table"
I would be grateful if you could help me out why I am getting this error.
Thanks in advance,
smriti

did you ever get this solved? I am having the same problem. I also tried the jdk and got the same error so it's likely not a download problem.
thanks

    Hello,
i've got following message during installing j2se 1.4.2_04 on windows server 2003:
"Failed to extract file 'Dll_.ini' from the binary table."
i've installed java based on the same file on my local system (windows 2000) - works fine!

    MAKES ME BLOOD BOIL...!
    I had also downloaded this:
    Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language (j2re-1_4_2_05-windows-i586-p.exe)
It had installed (same login and same profile) OK on 2 PCs (HP and Compaq) Windows XP SP1 but gave this same error (below) on 2 x W2K SP4 (Windows 2000 Service Pack 4) machines (1 Compaq PC, 1 Dell Laptop) :
"Failed to extract file 'Dll_.ini' from the binary table."
That's after I discovered that Microsoft had REMOVED ALL msjavwu.exe 5.00.3810 from its web sites which was THE LAST RESORT to update Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 with the safety patch. (Critical update to Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (MSJVM) version 5.00.3810)
So I was left with W2K SP4 IE6 SP1 with JAVA NOT WORKING or WITH A SECURITY HOLE!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH SUN AND MICROSOFT...!
I've patched MSJVM since (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/1050022631/1) but it took me 3 DAYS to sort out what should have taken (max) an hour's work !!!
I still haven't solved the J2RE v1_4_2_05 problem as I've just discovered this page AND my end-users won't let use their machines (W2K SP4 Compaq PC & Dell Laptop) again for a long while yet (since Java works) !
Read a very good article about Java Problems: http://www.mcse.ms/message1062959.html entitled "XP SP2 and Sun Java Plugin" but applies to any Java and any Windows.

  • Makepkg fails to extract files before attempting build

    Hi,
My issue is very similar to to this: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 23#p622523
I am running arch x64 and have a ramdisk where build packages (named /build)
In makepkg.conf I have my BUILDDIR pointing to /build.  It downloads file right and all, but fails to extract the file to a ./src directory before trying to compile.  This happens everytime I run makepkg (I illustrate with an AUR package)
    makepkg aborts with
/build/yaourt-tmp/aur-powder/./PKGBUILD: line 16: cd: /build/yaourt-tmp/aur-powder/src/powder117_src/: No such file or directory
If I manually extract the contents and run makepkg, it works fine.
Any help on this issue is appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
the problem persists with just makepkg. I probably should have clarified that.  I was using yaourt to grab PKGBUILDs from AUR to test.
Here is what I have discovered so far.
    Remember that in makepkg.conf, BUILDDIR=/build
    [@:/build/powder]# ls
    PKGBUILD
    [@:/build/powder]# ls
    PKGBUILD
    [@:/build/powder]# makepkg

    [@:/build/powder]# ls
    PKGBUILD powder117_src.tar.gz
    [@:/build/powder]# cd ..
    [@:/build]# ls
    makepkg pkg powder src yaourt-tmp
    [@:/build]#
In the last line, the src and pkg directories are the directories that should be inside ./powder
Actually, now I understand that BUILDDIR is responsible for this.  However, the PKGBUILD is not aware that I'm building in a different place, so changing directories in the PKGBUILD fail.
I am running arch on an SSD and would prefer to have makepkg build its packages in RAM rather than on disk.  Is there a way to make the PKGBUILD aware that src and pkg are not where it thinks they are?

  • How can I install Adobe Photoshop Elements Update 9.0.3 after I get a message that Installation has failed and the solution is not in troubleshooting or forums?

My Photoshop Elements 9 stopped working a couple of weeks ago. When I clicked the PSE button nothing happened. I tried this several times over a few days and it still failed. I uninstalled the program and re-installed it. It worked well. Then I tried to install the Update 9.0.3. The download was almost successful. When it was about to show 100% successful for the download, an error message said the installation had failed and that I should try later. I tried this many times over a few days and the same result occurred. I tried troubleshooting and the answers to questions, but I could not find an answer. I don't know where to go to see if anybody has answered my question. How can I install Update 9.0.3?

  • OIM 9.1.0.2  - ActiveDirectory 9.1.1.7.0 Installation Status  :    Failed

    Hi,
    I am using OIM 9.1.0.2

    DOBJ.XML_IMPORT_ERROR
    Unknown tag OBJ_OFFLINED recieved.
    Step 2 : Connector Installation
ActiveDirectory 9.1.1.7.0 Installation Status : Failed
    Configuration of Connector Libraries

    X Compilation of Adapter Definitions
Click Retry to retry the installation after correcting the errors.
What needs to be done for this ?
    Regards
    Praveen

With the introduction of oim 9.1.0.2, the Offline-Line Provisioning attribute was added to the Resource Object. You are trying to import the connector into an environment that is out of date. The solution to this is to open up the XML file, and cut out the XML tag within your resource object for OBJ_OFFLINED and then it should work. But the next issue you are going to run into is most likely the connector version is not supported in your version so it might not work.

  • Installation Failed The installer can't install some files in "/".

    The full message is
Installation Failed! The installer can't install some files in "/". Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
I first received this message when trying to upgrade Pro Tools from 8.0 to 8.0.1 a prerelease for snow leopard. I tried numerous things such as repairing permissions, as well as some pro tools specific things and to no avail. Still got the same error message.
So then I tried completely uninstalling and deleting all things pro tools from my computer. After a clean uninstall and removing all traces of pro tools I proceeded to try and re-install pro tools from my pro tools 8 disk. About a minute into the process I get the EXACT same error message.
I know this issue has been going on since even before snow leopard. I really need to get pro tools installed and running again or at least be able to get the program installed. I've isolated pro tools out of the mix because its been several different installers and even an installer from a dvd. I know this is a Snow Leopard or plain OS based problem. I have repaired permissions, created a brand new user, wiped clean and started over. I don't know anything else to do. PLEASE HELP???!!!

Hi Dean@mac & welcome to the forums...
Any specifics why it wants to install to / instead of Applications, as an example?
    Seen these threads yet?
    http://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?search=Go&q=pro+tools
One thing to help investigate the issue is to create a new user just for testing that is stock with no add-on's etc., then login there and try to install. If it works there you can bet there is something unique to your original account that is borking that install - otherwise the issue is most likely global to your system and you might be out of luck until/unless a reportedly qualified version becomes available, etc.
    Good luck in any case.

  • "Windows 8.1 installation has failed"

Downloaded the Enterprise iso of 8.1 from the Volume Licensing site.  Currently running Windows 8 64 bit Enterprise.  Downloaded 8.1 64 bit
enterprise.  Mounted iso, ran setup, after licensing agreement and choosing data migration options received the error "Windows 8.1 installation has failed" .  Googled around, and didn't see this exact problem.  There is no error code,
nothing in the logs, nothing at all.  Just the message "Windows 8.1 installation has failed".  Tried several downloads of the iso, on multiple Windows 8 boxes.
Could a group policy setting, or something else related to these machines being on a domain be causing our issues?  If not, the lack of error codes is making the issue next to impossible to debug.
Anyone out there able to help?
    Thanks
p.s.  already verified that update kb2871389 was installed.

    Hi,
Which log did you checked, could you find the setup.etl file in %WINDIR%\Panther?
It should have $windows.~bt\Sources\Panther log file. please check it.

If problem persists, I would like to suggest you to make a clean install on other drive for test, to make sure this problem was not caused by hardware problem.
Note: before Windows installation, please backup all files on the drive which Windows 8.1 would be installed. Also make sure the hardware driver such as BIOS, Motherboard was upgrade to be latest.

  • Brand new 10.6.3 snow leopard disc installation always fails on MacBook pro

So I ask, is the only thing left to do here to buy a new hard drive? I figured I would ask as I feel I have tried everything.
I have a 17 inch 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo MacBook pro with 4 gb ram and a 500 gb hitachi 7200 rpm hard drive that was installed in march of 2010. I was running osx snow leopard 10.6.3 with all updates with two partitions, a 450 gb for mac and 50 gb for bootcamp and windows 7. About 3 weeks ago, after downloading some programs from cnet, I started having problems.
I could not boot to the Mac side, but booting to windows was fine.  I would get hung on a blue screen with my cursor, but it never would go further. So I used
my snow leopard 10.6.3 disc to run disk utility, repaired disk and it completed the repair and partitions, always leaving a note saying, " updating boot (something) as needed.  Everything repaired and was corrected, but I still could not boot to Mac. Still hung on blue screen.  I reset the PRAM, still nothing, but still no reoccurring errors in disc repair.
So I purchased an external hd and backed up everything, since I never used time machine ( I know) and backed up all my data.  I erased and zero'd out everything on the Mac partition.  I then tried to reinstall 10.6.3 on the hard drive, and it seemed to fail repeatedly.  I would install, fail, reformat, repeat repeat over and over.  I was having trouble with the DVD drive taking the disc a few times, and noticed some very minor scratches on the disc, nothing major.  So, I decide it could be the disc, and went out to purchase one at best buy.  Came back, ready to go, took the disc the first time, and fails again and again. ( installation failed, please contact the software manufacturer )
One thing I noticed in disc utility is that it would always seem to hang up installation around 6.65 gb. So I called my free 90 day software support from apple, and they of course suggested I take it to a Mac genius... Haven't been there yet because of the proximity to my house. I then decided to backup the bootcamp side , which was working just fine, and erased that as well,  I repartitioned the drive, erased the disc and tried again and again and installation kept failing.
Other things I have done, took out 2gb ram and tried, nothing.  Also changed a number in terminal that was 12000' to 30000' a tip from another forum, that also failed.  I am at wits end here, and can't find anyone else with this problem.  Any other suggestions before i scrap the hd?
Thanks in advance for your advice,

DVD drive ? The software disc itself is brand new and boots fine

  • WSUS reinstall on 2012 SCCM server post-installation task fails to run/finish

I had to re-install WSUS on a 2012 R2 SCCM server (Windows 2012), and am running into several issues re-installing. It may help to point out that the SCCM SQL server is remote, so this isn't a WSUS / SQL 2012 issue.
The sticky post at the top of the WSUS forum has helpful troubleshooting information, and I have tried going through this as well as many other threads on this very topic of re-installing WSUS.
    1. Roles for WSUS and WID were removed successfully. The WSUS Website was manually deleted from IIS. As this is a SCCM server, removing the IIS role is not an option.
    2. I removed the existing WID database files for SUSDB
    3. After rebooting, I verified registry keys were gone, system files were cleaned up, and deleted the program files\update services directory
    4. This isn't a permission issue, as I have clearly installed this before on this server.
    5. Registry keys, system files, and susdb files no longer exist, and the server has rebooted cleanly.
    6. I am able to add the WSUS role selecting WID, and this installs WID without any errors. At this point, simply clicking the post installation task fails, generates an empty .tmp file in my %appdata%\temp folder, and exits the MMC.
    7. This file is blank. Absolutely empty, so I couldn't really troubleshoot any post installation tasks.
    8. Further investigation shows that the 'C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools\' directory is gone, and isn't being
    generated.
    9. Ok... DISM /online /Cleanup-Image /Scanhealth didn't return any issues, so I copied the wsusutil out of the windows\WinSxS directory.
    10. Yey! wsusutil postinstall runs, but bombs out on the IIS portion. It generated the DB without an issue, but results
in an IIS generation error. So, I installed WSUS on a clean 2012 install, then copied over the program files\updateServices directory to reclaim the missing files.
    The log files show --

... ok - tripple checked that network service has permissions to .net and windows\temp folders.
netstat -a doesn't show anything running on port 8530 ( in case this was some weird port check in use)
Which goes back to the missing directory problem -- further net searches show that this is a reoccurring issue for some OOBE... sfc /verifyonly shows ... nothing.
What is left to be done at this point? The missing folders from the program directory seems to be a problem for some with some users right out of the box. I have read many other threads where users just formatted and started over. Not exactly a solution
    - any help out there on this issue? Any suggestions to determine what file is missing, or generating the IIS issues?

Part of the post install tasks wanted to download some items including the tools folder.
Can you expand on this please. The WSUS post-install tasks do not download anything, except what is acquired during the initial synchronization with Microsoft.
Because of my group policy the WSUS server was trying to download the updates from itself even though it was not setup yet.
What update(s) was the WSUS server trying to "download"?
In fact, if the WSUS Server was not setup yet (but you already had a GPO in place), then the first issue here was performing deployment steps out of order.
But still.... except for the actual installation binaries for the WSUS Server Role on a WS2008SP2/WS2008R2 system, there's nothing the WSUS server needs to get from either Windows Update or a WSUS server. This scenario is actually discussed hundreds of times
in this forum, but complicating matters, this thread isn't about installing WSUS V3.2 on a WS2008SP2/WS2008R2 system, it's about installing WSUS v65 on a WS2012 system, so I'm a bit confused as to what the actual installation environment is that we're discussing.
I changed the WSUS server to get it's windows updates from Microsoft and then the post install task succeeded.
I'd really like to get some more details about what exactly in the "post-install task" was dependent upon content from WU/WSUS.

    Thank you!

Are you attempting to save the file to a network location instead of your local hard drive? If so, this is probably why you are encountering an issue and why Adobe Drive would be the solution. As we've documented, it is a bad idea to open from or save directly to a network source: Networks, removable media | Photoshop | CS4 and later. Drive can help you get around this by setting up an Adobe supported virtual connection to the network. Thus, if installing Adobe Drive is the solution you need and your need help with installing Drive, please post to the Downloading, Installing, Setting Up forum.
If you are not saving to a network location, then Adobe Drive is not going to be the answer. Then we'll need to know more about the file you are saving.
