J2SE 5.0 Release 4 issues.

Since a couple of days ago, after the installation of the J2SE 5.0 Release 4 I've got some problems. Some websites show the Java window, the new one, with the cup of coffee with the sun running in the back, and a progress bar in the bottom. At first sight Java is working better now, after some basic "treatment". Anyway, Java is still a debt in the OS X field. I mean from both sides: Apple and Java.

Question about the new JAVA Update J2SE 5.0 Release 3

Here is some info about this update:
Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Release 3 allows applications and applets developed for the J2SE 5.0 platform to run on Mac OS X v 10.4.2 and later.
This update does NOT CHANGE the DEFAULT VERSION of Java on your Mac from Java 1.4.2 to J2SE 5.0, though Java applications that require J2SE 5.0 may specifically request it. You can change the preferred Java version for applications and applets by using the new Java Preferences utility. This utility is installed by the J2SE 5.0 update at /Applications/Utilities/Java/J2SE 5.0/.

HERE IS MY QUESTION---
This update makes me nervous cause I don't know much about Java. IF I change my default version to this new 5.0 will it mean that some of the older Java stuff on the web won't work? Should I just download this and ignore it? What should I do about this update?

I too seem to be suffering issues with loading web pages after the 10.4.3/Java 5.0 update. I have reinstalled both updates, changed the java settings, emptied all the caches, and tried various combinations thereof, and I still have problems with web pages loaded. most of the problems appear to be related to rendering frames and images - In fact a couple of web sites I navigate to (upon looking at the source for the page" state "It appears your browser does not support frames." I think this is something broken in the latest release. Unfortunately, I cannot reinstall the latest copy of Safari, because the installer states "This version of Safari cannot be installed. It requires version 10.4.2." I guess I am in a pickle until Apple comes out with another update. BTW I have some pages that Safari will not render but IE running on the same box will. I also noticed that the problem propagated to other applications that use Java....For instance the Dashboard widget from google (Google Maps) no longer renders the tiled (framed?) map pieces...instead you get the ubiquitous "?" icon.

System error after installing 10.4.6 Update and J2SE 5.0 Release 4

I just installed OS X 10.4.6 update and J2SE 5.o Release 4 and the system doesn't start any more. I get a black screen which says:
[date] [my computer name] getty:/dev/console: Operation not supported by device
Any suggestions?
I will try to start from CD (when I am home later), but first I need to eject the DVD, which is still in the drive. How to do this when the system does not start?

All CD/DVD drives that come installed in a Mac should allow you to eject the CD/DVD tray. Check your owner's manual--the instructions on how to eject the tray are usually given there. For example, on some PowerBook models you had to gently insert a paper clip into one side of the loading slot and push. On the DVD drive in my PowerMac there is a small hole through which I can instert a paper clip.
As for what is causing your problems, I don't know. From what I've gathered, however, installing the combo update (~140 megs) is more reliable than the incremental one (~60 megs). Booting from an external drive helps, too. You might try that.

Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Release 1

I'm trying to use Shutterfly, an on-line photo service and am having problems. They recommended checking on my Java edition. I did at the Java check version site and got this report "You do NOT have the latest version of Java software.
The latest version of Java software = Java Runtime Environment Version 5.0 Update 6." So I downloaded but when I tried to install, I got this message: "You cannot install J2SE 5.0 Release 1 Package on this volume. This volume contains a newer version of Java 1.5." OK, I'm stumped...according to Java I don't have the current edition, but can't install it because I have a newer version? Am I missing a critical step...would sincerely appreciate any help?

According to http://developer.apple.com/releasenotes/Java/Java50Release4RN/index.html, you have J2SE 5.0 Release 4 installed. Where that fits in with Update 6, I don't have a clue. This might help, http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?t=47531.

J2SE 1.4 Release Candidate & Java Web Start

Hi:
We installed the J2SE 1.4 Release Candidate and our Java Web Start applications which previously worked now won't run. Upon their launch, there is the following error message :
Error Code 11 (11 Could not locate requested version) returned from server when accessing resource (http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se, 1.4.0-rc)
Does anyone know why this is?

Your answer is unclear. Can you mount other disk images by double-clicking on their .dmg files? Have you repaired permissions with Disk Utility?
I wonder if it has something to be with the versions of the upgrade. do i need to download them in an expecific order or something?
It depends. Some updates won't be applicable until you install a previous one. For example, some Security Updates won't work unless you an OS update in place.
i currently have install java 1.3.1 plug in and 1.4.2 plug in. i've never open the application thought.
If you mean the Java Plugin Settings.apps for those versions, then that's normal. I have those in addition to the Java Preferences.app from J2SE 5, which I believe is the new name for the settings.app.

J2SE 5.0 release 4

I installed J2SE 5.0 release 4 on my ibook G4 running OSX 10.4.5 and several applications stopped working such as Safari, mail, ichat. These applications start up but immediatley quit with an error pop-up box saying "The application xxx quit unexpectedly". The report looks something like this:-

Is there anyway of uninstalling J2SE 5.0 release 4 and reverting back to version 3 ?. I also can't do a repair on the OSX because I have 10.4.0 on CD and not 10.4.5. Is a complete re-install the only way forward ?

Have you run "Apple Hardware Test"?
If CD's came with your computer it is on a CD labeled "Hardware Test" To test with CD, insert the CD and restart holding the "c" key until you see the spinning gear.
If DVD insert DVD then:
1. Turn on or restart the computer.
2. Immediately press and hold the Option key. After a few seconds, the Startup Manger screen appearsThe Startup Manager scans for available volumes.
3. Optional: Clicking the circular arrow rescans for other volumes, including NetBoot Server volumes. You can eject any disc in the drive or open an empty tray-loading drive by holding down the Command (Apple) and Period (.) keys. The Command-Period key combination will also close the drive. After inserting a CD capable of starting up your computer, you could rescan for volumes.
4. Click the startup volume you want to use. "Hardware Test"
If hardware test does not mount or does not run bring the computer to Authorized Apple Repair.

Release Build Issue

Hello!
I'm stuck on something pertaining to my release build. It's not working. I know there could be a lot of reasons for this, most related to path dependencies within my code. In my troubleshooting, however, I've stumbled across an issue that I think is at the root of the problem. I'm hoping someone has a solution!
Here it is:
I'm using Flex Builder 3, and it's an AS3 project. Running the project is no problem. Works great from the bin-debug folder. As soon as I pull the files in the bin-debug folder into another folder, however, it no longer runs. I'm doing this in the most basic way possible. Here are the steps I'm taking:
1. create a new folder at the same level as bin-debug. Calling it, creatively, bin-debug2.
2. copying all the files in bin-debug and pasting them in bin-debug2.
3. opening my browser and surfing to bin-debug/project.html - works perfect.
4. opening my browser and surfing to bin-debug2/project.html - doesn't work.
How is it possible for the exact same files not to work just because the parent folder has a different name?
I believe answering this will solve my release build issues.

Thank you for taking time to help me troubleshoot this.
Running the bin-debug version of the projects main .html page in a browser works. Meaning, the page loads, I see the default background color I've set in the compiler, and the opening animation starts.
Then I copy and paste all of the files in bin-debug to bin-debug2. Try running the exact same .html file. The page opens in the browser and I see the default background color I've set in the compiler. The opening animation never starts.

J2SE adapter PI 7.1 issue with XML to flat conversion and namespace length

Dear reader,
We are facing an issue with J2SE Adapter PI7.1 for a number of flows.
The flow requirements:
[1] Namespace length for interfaces is up to 100 characters
[2] The XML message must be converted to Flat on the adapter channel
Our PI system is at patch level 7 and we implement J2SE adapter on patch level 7 as well.
We found that the J2SE adapter on patch level 7 does not support long namespaces [1] (as it should since this is an PI 7.1 j2SE adapter) but no issues where found with the XML to flat conversion [2].
Experimenting with J2SE adapter on patch level 6 we found the long namespaces [1] are supported however an issue is found with the XML to flat conversion [2] as stated in SAP note 1335527.
An SAP Customer Message is raised on this issue however your input is highly appricated!

I think the restriction of namespace length still remains in design time (IR).....the same however has been extended in configuration and runtime...this SAP note has some information: https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/870809

Standalone (J2SE) adapter - axis SOAP adapter - issue duplicate messages

All,
Perhaps you can help me. I've setup a scenario where an standalone (J2SE) adapter sends a file to SAP XI channel, configured on the central adapter engine, of type SOAP configured to use Axis servlet.
The connection is setup and the standalone adapter channel logs thre response from the SOAP channel which reads HTTP error 500, indicating a duplicate message.
SAP has identified this problem and proposes in the FAQ for Axis (note 1039369) to set on the SOAP channel module CallSapAdapter property ignoreDuplicate to true in the module processor.
I've implemented this as suggested however found the problem persists. I'm still receiving an HTTP 500 error.
Your help is much appreciated solving this problem.

As there was a bugfix recently, make sure that you have installed the latest patch.
If this does not work, open an OSS ticket for this issue.

Means Person who has created document should not be allowed to release the same.

Create a message, on Check/Save issue error if Approver = PO Creator. I'm assuming there is more than one potential approver at the level, otherwise you need to determine a different approver before PO is saved.

PR item release workflow issue

Hi All,
I have 1 issue with PR item workflow. We have PR itme based workflow with different agents for each line item.
The issue is when approver goes to execute the work item, all the other items are available to the approver to edit or release other items as well. We want to disable other items being available to the approver for which he is not the approver.

Hi Srikar,
You can do this by using parallel processing in workflows. I am giving you the scenaio we use. We use this in invoices with multiple line items.
This scenario is implemented using a sub workflow. In the main workflow when you insert a multistep task, go to "Miscellaneous" tab to implement parallel dynamic processing. here you have to pass a multi line container element containing line item numbers. Your sub workflow will trigger one for each entry in multi line element. Do not do any changes to you PR object with in Sub Workflow just get the results of decisions taken by user back to main workflow. Like (App - for approval, Rel - For release, Rej - for rejecetion, etc). When you have all decision collected and returned to main workflow, pass the results in a multi line container element to an activity. Then based on results decide weather you want to release or reject.
Doing this if one person releases his line item, it will not effect the other workitems which have gone to other approvers.
We do agent assignment based on profit centers.

Segment Release version issue - ECC6 to older ver.

Our system was recently upgraded from ECC5 to ECC6 and we are facing an issue with one of the interfaces that is connected directly to the R/3 System.
This issue is realted to an outbound interface and it used to work fine when we were on ECC5. The message we are sending is a bespoke extension based on basic type DELVRY03. The segment E1EDL24 have new fields added to them in the 701 release version compared to the 620 version which was the higest available on ECC5.
I tried reducing the IDOC segment release version to 620 and 46C in the partner profile, but the message received by the thirdparty still contains the new fields which is causing an issue at their end.
I would appreciate if you could provide me some guidanace on how to appraoch this issue.

We have recenlyt upgraded our quality system to ECC6.
I am also facing the same issue, As per my unnderstadning if I put segment release in WE20 then in ALE communication Layer Idoc should remove the fileds which are not intended for the given release. For example E1EDP01 is having highest release 008 for 701 release. If I set 40A in partner profile the Idoc should generate with fileds only available in 40A release i.e. version 003,but SAP is filling all thefilds which are available in701 relase.
I don;t understand why SAP has given such a functionality though it actually not filter the data at communication layer!!.
Could you please let me know did any of you really see the difference when you use segment release in WE20 when using PI as receiver? I did sevaral test for MATMAS, ORDERS found this segment release is useless.
If you have applied any workarounds(other then updating receiver system mapping) please let me know. I think is there any modification in ECC6???

PR release workflow - issue in mulitple level approval

Hi Experts,
I have developed a new workflow for PR release strategy.
Business object: BUS2105 ( Purchase Requistion )
Triggerring event: ReleaseStepCreated
Step1: Workflow started ( Releasestepcreated)
Step2: Approve PR ( Agent1)
Step2a
If yes --> Released to next level (Agent 2 )
Step2b
If No --> Rejected and notified initiator
If Yes --> Notify intiator and exit
Step3b.
If no --> based on next release code and release
group get the next level agent and go to
step2
Step4: Workflow ends.
Issue:
For single step PR release, workflow is working fine.
When PR created with multiple level release, a workflow triggers and notifies the 1st level agent, when the agent releases the PR at 1st level and saves it , workflow is not proceeds to further steps to find the next level agent.
Here i am using the FM to fetch the approvers and assigning the same for release codes.
Please guide me...

you can check this in SWEL that whether event is getting triggered after first release.
If yes then the issue is in configuration of release strategy where for all release code you need to mark workflow parameter 1.
