Jaas and jar

Hello,
I have developped my own jaas policy class to check permission given to the current user. The class(RolePolicy) get the list of permission in database.
To activate security, I execute
Policy.setPolicy(new RolePolicy(roles));
System.setSecurityManager(new SecurityManager());
and no additionnal configuration (no property, no configuration file)
The RolePolicy class load permission from db and create a permission collection. Then I check permission by AccessController.checkPermission(x) and catch AccessControllerException if the access control is not checked.
This security management is included in a dedicated jar and my application call it to activate permission management.
Everything works great while executing in application mode in jbuilder but it does not work anymore if i switch to jar mode (javaw -jar). It seems that my own policy class is not really loaded when I execute AccessController.checkPermission.
I tried to sign jar but i does not change anything. Any idea?

In fact, my explanation is not correct. My 'security jar' is not included but as a jbuilder project, the class needed for my application are included directly in my application's jar. I actually manage to see trace that are present in my rolePolicy. But It seams that the policy class is not used when I call checkPermission. When I call it, it uses the standard policy file (however I can see trace showing that the setPolicy is correctly executed.
I also tried with the same classpath/jre as the one used when launching in application mode but everytime I store class in jar, the policy class is not used by the access controler.

  • Are JDev autogenerated paths needed to create ear, war and jar files ?

    Hi
    We want to create ear, war and jar files from Ant build script generated from JDeveloper 11.1.1.7.
    We also like to use ojdeploy with it.
    In the process of creating build.xml files from projects, we see these paths.
    We also have standalone Weblogic installed with ADF runtime 11.1.1.7
    Questions:
    1- Do we need these path ids to generate ear, jar, war files properly and then deploy the ear to our standalone Weblogic so that our webapp can run ok ?
    2- Why are they generated, if they are not needed
    From research, it appears that we don't need these paths except to keep ant targets of init, compile, exec etc with ojdeploy.
    3- Is that true ?
    We are afraid that because no paths are listed in the build.xml, then when we deploy the ear app, it cant use the ADF runtime on the standalone WLS.
    Thanks in advance for answering.

    There are two different things here. Using ant to build the class files and then building an ear from the class files and other resources.
    The building part needs the libraries if you use javac as compiler. Building an ear file only needs the path to the jar files which are packed into the ear.
    In this sense you need the pages you see in the build.xml.
    Then Jdev offers another way: ojdeploy. This tool is a Jdev without a gui.
    You can use this tool and build the classes for each project of a workspace and to build build war and ear file. This is just like you click the rebuild button for each project and then the deploy the projects and application. If you use this approach you don't need the generated path ids as the whole build process is done inside Jdev as it's done on your developer pc.

  • JAAS and j_security_check

    Hi there,
    I'm using Weblogic 6.1 and working on the security aspect of a project.
    What I want to do is to set up the app so that a user logs in and gets authenticated
    using JAAS. I also want to secure the app so that all requests for urls must
    be authenticated first i.e. They go through the login page first.
    The easiest way I can see to do this is to use FORM based authentication using
    j_security_check.
    Is there a way then to set whatever j_security_check in the session, within the
    JAAS part of the code? Rather than authenticating with JAAS and then sending
    username and password to j_security_check.
    Does anyone know what to set? I looked at previous messages but they seem to
    deal with earlier versions and these do not work with 6.1
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Ian

    Frank, thanks for comments.
    Yes user info is in the sama database so I can get it from there, but I would like to call this DB function once after succesfull authentication. In addition we have kind of 2 level passwords in place, one application password and one internal db password for user to access database resources.
    User does not know his/her db password, we have just api to get db password after authentication and existing application api (developed for forms client originaly) assumes user access db by his own connection, so in many api's oracle function user is stored in some tables.
    So what I need is after authentication of user (with application password) I can get Oracle password and then make new DB connection to all application api, just would like to store Oracle password (or new user db connection )somewhere so I dont need to fetch it everytime I need to call application API.

  • Moving a functional jsp and jar file to new directory breaks import?

    Simply put - how can I "move" or "copy" a functional JSP directory from the root of my site to a subdirectory
    of the same site and have it continue to work?
    here are the details:
    I have a site where the functional JSP content resides like so ...
    c:\site\itworkshere\thetestfile.jsp
    c:\site\itworkshere\WEB-INF\web.xml
    c:\site\itworkshere\lib\thejarfile.jar
    c:\site\itworkshere\classes\props.properties
    but when I copy the"itworkshere" directory to c:\site\newdirectory\itworkshere
    and try to load thetestfile.jsp page in my browser, I get ...
    thetestfile$jsp.java:6: Package com.corporatename.module.io not found in import.
    I know that the module.io classes are in thejarfile.jar, but for some reason, now that I've put the files
    in a new directory, the import is failing (simple import directive in thetestfile.jsp) And - yes - the .jar
    file is there in the new subdirectory.
    I am a newbie with jsp and just need to copy the files to new location and have them continue to work.
    Do I have to recompile the .jar with some sort of adjustments? I poked around and I don't see any assumptions about the directory structure in the build. The behavior leads me to believe that the build is assuming something
    about its location in the directory tree.
    Hope this question is clear and I appreciate any direction you can provide to steer me where to look/modify
    the necessary changes so I can move the .jsp's and .jar and not break them.

    Thanks for the suggestions and insights. I have made some progress.
    a context path of "/newdirectory/itworkshere" and a docBase of "./newdirectory/itworkshere" has resolved
    the .jsp include problem.
    However this seems a bit counter-intuitive to me considering that the default root context which is "" stands
    at the appBase which in my case is C:\Site. Since the default does not explicitly refer to the "itworkshere" directory,
    I'd expect that the newly added Context element would not have to either ---- BUT --- it does require that I include "itworkshere" in the context path and docBase (where I would expect ./newdirectory would have been sufficient since the default works that way) ... am I missing something?
    Now I havethe next odd behavior - the Servlet which resides in "itworkshere\WEB-INF\lib" is not loading when I put the appropriate URL in --> /newdirectory/itworkshere/DataCrunchingServlet
    I checked the web.xml file and it has the appropriate servlet-name and url-pattern (relative references)
    Furthermore I did a test where I simply rename the original working instance directory and again --- the URL is failing to find the servlet!!! (and yes I stopped/started Tomcat) It is as if the servlet can only be found in the originally installed scenario.
    I am extremely puzzled that the behaviors seem to indicate an assumption about the path structure, but the web.xml file is set up correctly.
    Help help!!! and Thank you.l

  • Authentication & Authorization with SSO, JAAS and Database Tables mix

    Hi,
    I'm looking for how manage Authentication & Authorization in a J2EE ADF+Struts+JSP application.
    I'm interested in use SSO for authentication (I just did it programatically & dynamically already), and now I would like to could define authorization using database tables with users, groups, profiles, individual permissions, ..., (maitanined dynamically by web application admin) throught JAZN (JAAS or however is said) but not statically defining roles, groups, users, ... in jazn xml files.
    I saw that exists the possibility to create a custom DataSourceUserManager class to manage all this, and this gave me the idea that this could be possible to do (I was thinking in make a custom Authorization API over my application tables, without JAZN) but what is better that use and extended and consolidated aprox like JAZN.
    Anybody could tell me if my idea could be possible, and realizable, and maybe give me some orientation to build this approach.
    A lot of thanks in advanced.
    And sorry, excuse my so bad english.
    See you.

    Marcel,
    Originally the idea was to create a post to only explain how to do authentication using a Servlet filter. However,
    I have recently added code to the JHeadstart runtime and generators to enable both JAAS and 'Custom' authentication AND authorization in generated applications. Therefore, this post will be made after we have released the next patch release, as it will depend on these code changes.
    We currently plan to have the patch release available sometime in the second half of May.
    Kind regards,

  • JAAS and JBOSS

    I'm trying to use JAAS to log in a user on a JBOSS app, but am running into a problem. I'm able to successfully authenticate the user, and retrieve a Subject from my LoginContext. However, once that request is done (i.e. the browser displays the "log in complete" page), the application seems to forget that the user was logged in. How does JAAS and JBOSS keep track of the logged in user? Is this done by keeping a singleton of LoginContext around in some scope? Right now I'm creating a new instance of LoginContext, and using it to load a new instance of my CallbackHandler. Note, when I used JBOSS default form based authentication, it kept the user logged in. However, I can't use their default auth because I have some custom things I need to do.
    Thanks in advance for any help you provide.

    Hi,
    I tested this on OC4J for you and here - after setting jbo.security.enforce to Must, the user principal name and the roles are displayed.
    So there are three possibilities why you don't see things working
    - JBoss doesn't add the role principals to the Subject so they become available in the session
    - You attempt accessing this information in a prepareSession() override without enforcing authentication to happen for the root page - URL pattern = /
    - ADF BC security doesn't recognize the custom role principal
    After briefly reviewing the security implementation code, it seems that ADF BC security is dependent on Oracle JAZN for authorization.

  • Unjar and jar but I have not the same

    Hi;
    I want to add jar (jsse.jar Created-By: 1.2 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)) to my jar file, so I unjar (jar x jsse.jar) the file, copy the classes to directory where my classes are and jar the directory, but I cannot run the new jar.
    The problem is that, if I use jsse.jar, all is ok but when I use jssex.jar
    (jar x jsse.jar, jar cf jssex.jar .) I get exception :
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: COM/rsa/jsafe/z
    in jsse.jar com/rsa/jsafe/z.class (no COM) is as well as in jssex.jar, if i try rename com to COM in jssex.jar another error is generated(IOException: java.net.SocketException: SSL implementation not available)
    Where I make mistake??
    thanx for some advices.

    I know how can I do it, with Archive builder, but I don't know how the JBuilder make it. Becouse the jar file from Archive builder is OK but when I try make jar with sun tool jar.exe the jar file is bad.
    Only variance is that "com" (main package) in jar from JBuilder is UpperCase "COM" and in jar from sun jar tool is "com"
    When I try rename "com" to "COM" in my jar (with power) my Main class is not finded.
    When I try rename "COM" to "com" (in jar from Archove Builder) the same error is throw as from my jar (some class from jsse.jar is not finded).
    When I try rename "COM" to "com" and back rename "com" to "COM" (in jar from Archive Builder) my Main class is not finded.
    I know this action is not clear, but I tried all.
    the main problem is that I unjar (or unzip) the jsse.jar and back jar (or zip) to jssex.jar (for example), so the new jar (jssex.jar) is wrong and in both jars is "com" (not "COM")
    I tried unzip and zip so the Manifest is the same too. Some problem is with case sensitive. When I use "COM" my main class is not finded and when I use "com" some class from jsse.jar is not finded.
    in others jars (which i need) is all ok.
    Where I make mistake?
    (The archive builder can make the right jar)
    Thanx for any advice.

  • Protecting jnlp and jar files

    Hi
    I would like to know how to protect the jnlp and jar files against anyone who just types the URL in the browser Address bar.
    Thanks
    Steven

    Haven't tried, but if your jnlp app must check for updates on every startup and your files (both jnlp file and jars) are in a password protected folder (using digest or plain authentication over a SSL connection, for example) then you may be in trouble. Will JWS recognize this situation on an update check and prompt for login/password? (related to web server's folders).

  • What's differences between jaas and jacc?

    lately i saw a new java scurity released on http://java.sun.com/j2ee/javaacc/; it seems like similar to JAAS (http://java.sun.com/products/jaas/); though, reportedly, jacc concerned more detail in authrization, however, there's autherization api been included as i know. is there anyone be able to tell me what's differences between jaas and jacc? or where there's resource or article exaplained detail about this issue?
    i appreciate any suggestions.
    thank you very much,

    From what I saw, the JACC specifically deals with what is currently called Container Managed Security. JAAS is something that would be used on top of JACC.
    See also:
    http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/tutorial/doc/Security11.html
    JACC contracts provide the following benefits:
    - JACC moves security administration and decision-making responsibility from the container to the security providers.
    - JACC enables the use of a common policy across different security systems.
    - J2EE system integrators can integrate containers with existing authorization policy infrastructure

  • How to run .class file and .jar file in jdev9i

    I want to run .class file and .jar file in jdev9i,what should I do?
    Also,I want to generate .class file and .jar file in jdev9i,what should i do?

    Add the .class file containing the public static void main(...) method to the project by clicking on the + toolbar button in the navigator, open the project properties and properly set the additional classpath then right click on the .class in the navigator and say run. It should work, I've just tried it.
    Doesn't work for a .jar yet, in JDeveloper 9.0.3 it works both for .class and .jar

  • JAVA command line options -cp and -jar don't work together?

    Running JSDK 1.4.2 under Windows. I have a Java application that tries to dynamically load a class name that the user enters as follows:
    try {
    classResult = java.lang.Class.forName(strFilterName);
    catch (ExceptionInInitializerError e) {
    strErrorMessage = "ExceptionInInitializerError loading class: " + strFilterName;
    catch (LinkageError e) {
    strErrorMessage = "LinkageError loading class: " + strFilterName;
    catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
    strErrorMessage = "ClassNotFoundException loading class: " + strFilterName;
    This works fine if the classes that make up my application are left as class files in the classpath, but fails to work if they have been collected and run from a JAR file. Note: I can even dynamically load the class when running from the JAR file, if the class I'm trying to load is within that JAR file too. The problem really occurrs when the dynamically loaded class is located someplace else in my classpath. I've tried using various combinations of the "-cp" and "-jar" Java command line options - but when loading and running from a JAR file - the "-cp" parameters seem to be ignored. Is this a bug? Has anyone ever seen this before?
    I run my program from the JAR file using this command:
    java -cp .;e:\entmgr\filters -jar EntMgr.jar
    Where "e:\entmgr\filters" is where the class I'm trying to dynamically load is. (This class has no package name, but loads perfectly as long as I'm not running the application from the JAR file). The class name specified by the user has to be fully specified with a package name (if it has one).
    I have tried forcing the "java.lang.Class.forName(strFilterName);" call to use the system class loader, the parent of the system class loaded, and even the null bootstrap class loader - all with no success.
    I am suspecting that the class loader that is loading and running my main program from the JAR file, is just not paying any attention to the "-cp" parameter when the "-jar" parameter is present. Indeed, I have never seen any change in the failure, no matter what I put in the "-cp" parameter when using the JAR file.
    When I run this without using the JAR file, here is the command I execute:
    java -cp .;davidp\snmp;filters davidp.snmp.EntMgr
    Where this is executed in a directory that has a "filters" and "davidp\snmp" directory. In this case, because the "filters" directory is in my class path - I can dynamically load my class from it using just its simple name (i.e. "TestTrapFilter").
    So, is there some bug that precludes the "-cp" parameter from working correctly when the "-jar" parameter is used? Is there some other way to initialize or set up the classloader I'm using, so it can find things outside of the JAR file I'm running from? I would hope that it is possible to get the same behavior from my program, no matter if it is run from a JAR file or not.
    Thanks for any assistence!
    Dave

    These posts are pretty old, but this page came up in a google search while I was having the same problem, so I thought I would throw my own (Later found) solution in.
    The -cp and -jar options did not work together for me, but I later learned that they didn't really have to (and you don't have to mess with jar manifest files).
    While on the command line, if you want to set a specific class path and also run a jar, all you need to do is add the jar to whatever extra class path you need to use in the -cp <arg>, and then specify which class you want run from inside the jar.
    IE:
    java -cp <YourSpecialClasspath>: <PathToJar> <ClassToRunInsideOfJar>
    in my case it was like:
    java -cp /home/user/WebRCP.jar:./StandaloneInstaller.jar InstallLoader
    Remember to put a ":" in between the two arguments for the class path (-cp).
    Hope this helps someone in the future,
    -Josh
