JABB as an AU plugin in GarageBand 10.01

Hello,
I'm having trouble using JABB as an AU plugin in GarageBand 10.01. I have reinstalled it several times. The only AU plugin available is Apple. Do I need to drag the instrument files to another folder in order for it to work? Any ideas?
Thank you

When you purchase Melodyne Editor (from celemony's online store for example) you will get an installer that will install standalone ofcourse as well as AudioUnit, RTAS and VST versions of the plugin too.
I believe the demo doesn't install the extras.

  • HT1295 Is it possible to use vst plugins for garageband from an external hard disk? (Without installing to the system hard disk)

    Hi,
I got my MacBook pro 17" installed a 250GB of SSD as a system disk.
And i got 4TB of Thunderbolt External Disk.
The thing that i want is: to use my VST plugins for Garageband or Logic without fulling the system disk. Is it possible use them from an external disk?
    Thnx

    Garageband can't use VST plugins.
If you're talking about AUs: you could try to put an alias into the HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components folder instead of the actual files, and see if GB loads them.

  • How to run NLogPoly plugin in GarageBand X?

**How do I run NLogPoly plugin in GarageBand X?
When I open GarageBand and start a new project, only the built-in Apple sounds appear in the library. I put the stand-alone NLogPoly program in the applications folder as instructed by the NLogPoly documentation, and opened the downloaded NLogPoly plugin pkg to install it.
Now all I need is Apple's (non-existent) manual for GarageBand to tell me how to load third-party plugins - can some kind soul help me with this?
    Thanks.

Leonie, I can't see the Audio Units box onscreen for any instrument selection, only for Master. Here's what I see with an instrument selection:
There is no Audio Units box to select from. And NLogPoly isn't listed in the Library either, even though it's installed in the right place in the Library path.
When I try accessing plug-ins with a vocal track selected as istevus shows above, I have the same problem: no Audio Units box showing unless I select Master.
And no Native Instruments to choose from, just Apple plug-ins, with Master selected and clicking on Audio Units.
** Any additional ideas on what's wrong? **

  • Spitfish - I can't see the plugin in Garageband?

I downloaded Spitfish (to reduce sibilance and s sounds), and followed all the instructions to add it as a plugin in Garageband.
However, now when I open Garageband, I can't see the Spitfish plugin. I've tried everything. Have any other Garageband users had this problem?
How do I sort it out?
    Thanks

as a guess, you're probably using an intel Mac... these plug-ins are pretty old (2005ish) and are probably PPC-only

  • Third party plugins for garageband

Are there third party plugins that work on garageband other than the Jampacks? I have a ton of VST instruments (reaktor, triangle, kontakt, etc.) that i've used on my windows setup but I want to move everything over to the mac. am i restricted to apple software? am I going to have to use some other sequencing/music production software?
    Thanks,
    Michael

There are hundreds of plugins that will work in GarageBand, they just have to be Audio Unit plugins.
There is also an AU wrapper that claims to enable the use of VST, however I have no first hand experience with it.

  • Can't find 3rd party plugins in Garageband???

I've downloaded several plugins via MacMusic. I've followed the instructions and dragged the plugins into Library-Audio-Plugins-Components. Then I start Garageband, but the plugins are no where to be found (did check in AU effects pull-down menu). How do I get them into Garageband?
    -Tom

    3 < 6
And it doesn't let you use an arbitrary 3 (6) AUs, only 3 of its own effects.
_<b>I_ still want to use multiple effects of my choice... and this is a doable project ... unfortunately above my skill level as a programmer B-(>
But still, as my friend Christoph points out, there is an AU that will let you use 3 effects, per slot, at a time, search for "LFX-1310". I believe it is still PPC only, but I haven't checked recently to see if there is an update.

  • Anyone know where I can get a free Exciter AU Plugin for Garageband?

    Hey All
Ive been looking around online and I cant find a free Exciter AU plugin.
Anyone know where I can get one from?

  • Sampler plugin for garageband

i just finished a tutorial with an apple specialist at the store and he said there were samplers (plug-ins) for garageband that could be useful in lieu of buying a physical sampler. does anyone know about this or have any suggestions about this?
    thanks!
    ken

    Hi,
There are several options, depending on what you want to do.
You can use a simple useful program like PolyPhontics to create your own software instruments from samples; or,
There are several software sample-processing programs by Redmatica.

  • First time launch of Garageband yields plugin errors

So I finally purchased iLife 08, and the first time I go to run Garageband after the install I get these plugin errors:
"GarageBand unexpectedly quit while trying to use the Audio Unit "C1 gate (s)" by "Waves". This plug-in may require an update."
    and:
"GarageBand unexpectedly quit while trying to use the Audio Unit "L1 limiter (s)" by "Waves". This plug-in may require an update."
    Then there is this one:
    "Required software extensions are missing.
Click the OK button, and you will be transferred to the PACE web site where an installer can be downloaded."
But of course there is no mention of the fact that you have to BUY the required software extension.
I have done a reinstallation with no better luck. Has anyone else run across this?

you've apparently installed some third party software at some point, one of which uses that godawful pace copyprotection. since they don't work with GB you'll have to either get rid of the old plug-ins, not use GB, or find out if there are updates to them.

  • My Garageband does not work with Symphonic Orechestra or USB Boombox

I have two Macs: the main one is an iMac with Intel Core Duo 2 GHz, 1.5 GB RAm and 250 Gb HD, with OSX 10.4.8, and all the latest software upgrades as I download them as soon as they are available. The secondary Mac is a normal iBook G4-800 with 640 Mb RAM and not always the most recent plugins, but since a few days also the latest ones.
I premit I do use GarageBand to produce professional level music and in time I bought several new music features. I am a Mac user since ever and I never (I say again NEVER) uploaded any software (or loop) who wasn't regularly licenced and usually bought from Applestore itself.
    NOW THE PROBLEM:
Since I sold my old iMac G5 and implemented my CoreDuo I experienced a problem with Garageband: the external plugins for Garageband (such as the old and excellent "East West Quantum Lightning Symphonic Orchestra" but also the very recent USB "Classic Boombox" and "Ethnic Boombox" are not working. Those software instruments does appear correctly in the menus, but does not work. When I try to select them it appear this sentence (in italian, I will try to translate it approximateively):
"the plugin is not available. To add this loop using the same sound you heard in the browser loop, press the Option key and drag contemporary the loop in a new track"
This it happens all the times I try to set an instrument from EastWest or USB plugins from my iMac. As to make a confrontation, I installed the same softwares on my iBook and they work perfectly (with the only exception that I can't work from the iBook since is far too slow for me to use it with some profit).
Someone an help me or explain if there is anything I can do to fix my problem?
East West said the pluging should work (and to be honest it works correctly on the G4 as it did work properly with the G5). I own the USB software just since a few days, so I didn't ask them yet, but since is not just them, I guess is something else and do not know what may be the cause.
Some of you do have some hint or idea?

    Yep, I understand...
This is the final news I needed to get to complete my answer... I confronted myself the italian store and the US one and in the US one I didn't find this product...
As for the NI software, was so good that I just bought back my good "old" iMac G5 and will exchange it with this my Intel Mac. The G5 2 Ghz was good, performing as this new Intel (at times I even got the impression was more performing, but I believe is just an impression) and surely didn't have so many 3rd parties problems.
Meanwhile I filled every forum of NI and USB with my questions about the compatibility... and maybe I will be back to an Intel Mac when all would be OK, I'm not in a hurry!
By the way I had a listen to your work: GREAT!
You may hear a sketch version of something we did work on with the NI piano and choir sounds, while the alto sax is played live and the other instruments are from Apple or real keys (yes, we mix a lot of things):
    http://www.garageband.com/song?
while here is a track where we did use both the Orchestral sounds of Garageband (and some of it's loops, mixed with some good old programming) together with some NI sound:
    http://www.garageband.com/song?
We do not often use orchestra if not as here and there (other than in some work as this last one, but is not so frequent). Hope you may like our little works!

  • How do I access NI's Komplete instruments like FM8, etc in Garageband?

Hello. I have a 2007 15-inch MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.6.3, a LaCie Rugged external hard drive connected via FireWire on which I keep many Native Instruments VSTs such as FM8, B4 and Abysyth, and an M-Audio Axiom Pro 61-key keyboard controller.
I'm just learning to use Garageband, but couldn't figure out how to get Garageband to launch Native Instruments' Komplete instruments like Absynth, FM8, B4, etc. in much the same way as Logic or Ableton Live is supposed to be able to do. As I looked through the Garageband user manual, I don't see anything about accessing software instruments like FM8 or anything that isn't already included in Garageband.
After getting frustrated with that, I remembered that M-Audio included a copy of Live Lite 7 with my keyboard controller, which I downloaded to my MacBook Pro hard drive. Upon launch, Ableton told me there was a newer version, Live Lite 8.
When I first downloaded Live Lite I tried to get it to look for my Native Instruments VSTs so I could access them in Live Lite. I believe that process worked but I never had the chance to even do one project in Live Lite.
More recently I decided to move my Native Instruments VSTs from one LaCie hard drive that had my iPhoto Library and iTunes Library on it, to a separate LaCie rugged hard drive that would only hold my Native Instruments VSTs, any new songs I recorded, etc. This process seemed to work out.
Today I tried to launch Live Lite in order to record a song with FM8. I also wanted to try out a Duet audio interface I received last week. Unfortunately when I opened Live Lite, I got that Apple "spinning beach ball" and the program froze right away, while it was saying it was "scanning for 'custom' VSTs." I tried several times to open Live Lite but to no avail. I am disappointed that I cannot use the program at all.
Is it because of the fact that I moved the Native Instruments from one hard drive to another? Is there possibly something wrong with NI instruments like Absynth, FM8, B4 and others? One other soft synth I recently downloaded and wanted to include in Live Lite was Sonic Charge's Synplant, but I deleted it when I grew concerned that a VST was causing Live Lite to freeze. I also tried to download Live Lite's latest version again from the Internet and replace the previously downloaded version, but it was still hanging.
I do know that the VSTs like FM8 are located in the Library folder, but I was not sure if that fact was causing Ableton to look for the VSTs in the wrong place.
So in summary, I would really like to work in Garageband (and eventually Logic Studio when I can buy it) and have complete access to instruments like FM8, Absynth, etc., including all the parameters and effects. But I can't seem to launch those instruments in Garageband. Failing that, I'd love to do the same thing in Ableton, but that program won't even launch. (That's probably a separate problem and requires questions for a different forum.)
Any help you could give me would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Out of curiosity, why are you installing VST's over AU's?
Assuming you have installed your FM8 etc an an AU plugin, in GarageBand you need to create a new software track. Then click the Edit tab in the Track info pane on the right side of GB's User interface. At the top of the list you will see the 'Sound Generator.' Click the Name - top option to reveal your Audio Unit Module list. Your 3rd party AU's including FM8 will be listed there. Click it and it will be loaded the the new sound generator. Then click the picture icon to the left to reveal the User Interface for your chosen AU.
I run Live 8 fine. All of the AU's I use in GB can be used in Live.

  • De-esser for GarageBand 4.1.2

    Hi team,
I'm doing some vocal recording (mono - spoken word) and I'm looking for a de-esser plugin for GarageBand. I've tried ducking the offending frequency in the graphic EQ and achieved some success, but it has a tendency to leave the overall quality of the recording kinda' flat and hollow sounding (burying the 4K frequency).
Read some forums and everyone RAVES about Spitfish, but the developers stopped updating it and my version of GB won't recognize it.
Could anyone more knowledgeable than this ol' dog seeking to learn some new tricks offer any advice?
    Many thanks,
    MW

I too would like to know this.

  • NI Guitar Rig Pro 4 as a plug -n for Logic Studio/Garageband?

    Hi,
I have Logic 9 and use AmpDesigner/Pboard via an Apogee GIO for both my guitar and bass - Sounds great. However I've just been goofin around with a mate on his Macbook Pro using Native Instruments Guitar Rig 4 with their Control 3 foot pedal - ummm don't wanna say this but that sounds great too! I really like the interface and patch library and some of the presets did sound bloody great to me.
    So my question is ...
Is it possible to use NI Guitar Rig v4 in Logic 9 studio/mainstage? as a plugin? maybe mix and match Amp Designer and or Guitar Rig in one song? I'm sure I read somewhere that you could use non Apple plugins in Garageband.
    Anyhow

  • Garageband Quits Unexpectedly

Garageband was working fine and dandy. I installed Pro Tools LE and trashed the ReWire plugin to get it working with Leopard. Ever since then Garageband initializes and then quits unexpectedly. I have uninstalled Pro Tools and all plugins and Garageband both and have reinstalled Garageband with no luck. I have deleted prefs and made a dummy account to try it on...I have tried everything and nothing is working. Maybe I trashed the drivers accidently? I dont know...but I would really like some help figuring it out!
To HangTime: I have noticed in every thread on here you have posted a link to "oddball" problems with garageband...please dont post that link..I have looked through it and havent had any luck. Thanks.

Wow, that solved everything! I just had to repair the permissions via the Disk Utility. What a great website! Thanks for that - it's very much appreciated.

  • I can't use Arturia Jupiter 8v synth In GarageBand 10

I just bought the Arturia Jupiter 8v virtual synth.
But Garageband 10 refuses to mount it as an audio unit
(I get a message that it needs to be updated - but it is updated to
    the latest patch.)
I have the elicenser updated to the latest patch - no joy.
I tried clearing the audio units cache - no joy.
Ironically, I also have the Arturia Spark LE - and that mounts
as an AU plugin in Garageband 10, no problem.
Ironically, I can also get the Jupter 8v au to mount in the old Garageband 6.
So what is exactly going on?
I've read somewhere that Apple has initialised "sandboxing" in Garageband 10 - is this
meant to put off developers or prevent end-users like myself from being creative?
So Apple seems to be going against its old values in terms of accessibility and
    ease of use.
    I'm just scratching my head.

just bought the Arturia Jupiter 8v virtual synth.
But Garageband 10 refuses to mount it as an audio unit
(I get a message that it needs to be updated - but it is updated to
    the latest patch.)
That does not mean, that it is compatible. With GarageBand 10.0 some audio units are no longer compatible, that used to work in GarageBand 11.0.  GarageBand 10. only supports 64bit Audio Units.
GarageBand for Mac is a 64-bit application and works with 64-bit Audio Units plug-ins. 32-bit Audio Units plug-ins are not compatible.
See this link:   GarageBand for Mac (v10.0): Unexpected behavior with Audio Units plug-ins
But I tried just now, and with this download link the audio unit is working:   http://www.arturia.com/evolution/en/products/jupiter-8v/resources.html
