Jabber 10.5.2 Chat Interface Latency Delay Poor Performance High CPU

Several users within my organization reported slow response when sending instant messages in Jabber.  The interface response was very sluggish when opening chat windows, sending, typing messages etc.  Response was almost as if the typing was buffered.  Pressing enter after the message s could take 2 seconds before the message was delivered.  We noticed high CPU when using the chat interface.
Restarting the Jabber client did not resolve the issue.
I closed Jabber and renamed the history files on the affected clients then re-opened.  This restored the application / interface performance in every case.  One of the chat history files was only 1MB so I am confused as to why a  chat history db that small would adversely affect the interface so much.
=================================
4/23/15 Additional Information:
Installed Jabber 10.6.2 59142 on a client experiencing the issue in an attempt to resolve. The issue still persists until the history file is renamed/recreated evern after the upgrade.

We had the same issue here and did find a fix.  It seems that the new IE11 cumulative patch KB3038314 was the root cause for us.  We always QA Microsoft patches before release and all QA personal reported the issue.  After removal of that patch the issue was resolved!  A reboot was required but not needed to see the change in performance.  Can one of you guys give it a shot and see if you have the same result.  Right now I am just attributing it to our environment but it would be great to get other feedback from others.

  • Latency/Delay is KILLING ME.

    So for some time I've been having some serious problems with latency/delay issues and it has finally left my computer basically worthless for recording music. There has always been some delay, but it was never too difficult to just line up the regions where they needed to be in relation to the metronome or other instruments, but Garageband has now taken to trying to speed up in the middle of recording. So sometimes the beginning of an audio clip will be at the right speed but it will speed up a little into it and cause it to change pitch, which is how I know it's not just a mistake by the musician. This renders the clip worthless. And it's beginning to do this every time. I need help. Any ideas? Thank you so much.

    It is near to impossible to record into one session and paste pieces into a new one. Even a small discrepancy could mess off your timing.
    It is better to record one large session with multiple tracks. Even on my G4 iBook I have done up to 20 tracks without difficulty. Some pointers:
    1. If timing is exact through the song use a drum loop as a click track. You can use a metronome but a drum loop helps you 'get in the groove.' When all track are done you can delete or mute the click track.
    2. Record dry (no effects) so your timing can be exact. Delays and reverb can throw off your timing as well as be a strain on your processor if They are activated for many tracks. Some effects are heavy processor hitters
    3. Watch your playhead (the moving triangle) as you record. If it is always turning orange or red you are pushing your processor. It should remain white.
    MacBooks and iBooks have special energy saver settings that drastically effect Garageband performance. Make sure your energy saver is not set to the 'best battery life' setting. You need the high performance setting to get the best from Garageband which is a processor hogging app.

  • Latencies / delay in live streams

    I'm doing some tests with FMS and live streaming, but I observe quite long delays.
    When the stream is first accessed, the latency is around 3-5 seconds, which is acceptable.
    But as we watch the stream for about 30 minutes or more, the latency grows to around 20 seconds, which is just too much.
    What settings should I look at to keep the latency / delay minimal?

    You're going to want to look at the bandwidth that you're pushing into your FMS system and the bandwidth you're getting out.  Usually when you see evolving live latency it's because there's a bandwidth bottleneck somewhere and you're dropping frames and falling behind as FMS attempts to deliver a stream that's too big for the destination.  If not then perhaps it's something else, but you'll want to eliminate that possibility first as it's the most common.

  • Latency Delay X

    I have a SERIOUS problem. I run a recording studio, a small one. I have an artist who has recorded 2 out of 8 songs for an album that I have been paid to produce. I use Sonar 4 (cakewalk) for recording. I now have out of nowhere a delay in my sound that is about .5 to .0 second behind the actual sound input. This is not limited to the microphone, as this delay is also in my midi keyboard as well. I had an Audigy 5. sound card, after replacing my soundsblaster li've 5. card. This did not solve the problem. I re-installed windows and my applications nothing changed. I replaced my audigy card with a $200 X-fi sound card in hopes that it would improve .... nothing changed. I upgraded from gb to 2 gb ram (ddr) and still no luck. **side note** with my X-fi card now my mic plays out loud all the time. I had never before been able to hear the voice going into the mic, now i can, and i dont like it like that.**? I finally again re-installed windows and tested the mic with only the audio drivers and none of the software installed, not even the extra creative sofware... nothing improved. I then installed the creative software thinking perhaps it was needed, ... still bad. I AGAIN re-installed windows and installed EVERYTHING other than windows on another dri've not the primary OS dri've, and not a partition but a separate physical dri've. still no change. ASIO drivers have not helped at all!!! If there is something I havent done please let me know, because I have work to do, and bills to pay. So i need to get back to work, and this problem is giving me more days off than I desire. Oh hey, since I'm here maybe you guys can help me. I also have a small home studio and I'm having some trouble with the sound quality. My specs are below
    Pentium 4 3.4Ghz
    2Gb DDR2 Ram
    Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum
    Now, heres my studio setup. I have a mixer. I run my guitar, keyboard and mic through that and then into the X-Fi. But my problem is whenever I get finished recording with distortion the quality is really chunky, like its really heavy on the bass and loses some clarity. I have the mixer and sound card adjusted properly so I'm thinking its just how its being transferred. I was thinking of buying and Analog/Digital converter. have any ideas? I would really appreciate it.

  • Garageband, Edirol, Sound Latency / Delay Problem

    Anyone have experience with Edirol UA-25 connected to a Macbook? Problem I'm having is with sound delay.

    i'm having the same issues. on 2 separate machines. imac with OSX 10.6.8 and MBP with 10.8.3 it happens maybe 3 mins into playing or if i swap out amps. i usually have to reboot the whole machine to get it working.

  • Presonus interface latency

    I am going to start using a Presonus Inspire 1394 to record guitar into garageband. Assuming that I've changed the preference to live recording, should there be any latency problems?
    PowerMac 3,5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    My brother uses GB3 on his ibook with similar specs and not having this problem. Try going to GB preferences> Audio/Midi and choosing Maximum number of simultaneous tracks.
    More RAM and a external Hard drive is always a big help. But seeing that it worked for you in GB2, check activity monitor to see how much cpu and memory is being used. I know a lot of people have seen slow down with GB3 but personally I don't see any difference.

  • Voxendo Latency Delay plug-in

    Hi Guys,
    Would anybody be able to help me install this plugin on my G5 please?
    I'm running Logic 8 and after I clicked on the icon was asked what application to open the plug-in with. I tried Logic but it didn't work.
    Any assistance greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,

    Is it an AU plugin? That is when it has the suffix .component. You should place it in the Library/Audio/PlugIns/Components folder first, then start Logic and it should appear in the Plug In list.
    Never doubleclick a plugin, as it is not autonomous software, it only works inside a host (Logic, in this case).

  • Why is it, after all the years with this service, my wife can't get service, send a text without a long delay from the high school she works at 4 miles away??? The phone works great in the middle of corn fields but in the dead center of town, at the high

    I have been with Verizon since they started in Peoria, IL and yet to this day I don't understand why when my wife goes to work at a high school, dead in the middle of town, she has no service, can't send a text without a huge delay and can't receive phone calls?  I can be out of Peoria in the middle of a corn field and I get calls without a problem, yet but within the city no service at Peoria High School or very limited.  This causes the phone to drop from LTE and then eats the battery.

    Service isn't guaranteed inside of buildings especially buildings filled with steel, concrete and electrical wiring. High School buildings definitely have all three.

  • Exporting to OMF for audio and After effect + delay in performance question

    Hello
    I have two questions.
    First I have a problem with performance of FCP 5 I'm using a 500 GB firewire 800 external drive (not . Every time I hit the play button there is a delay of 2 seconds before playing my sequence I'm not sure why this is happening, I have a very basic sequence with one layer.
    Second question - I'm trying to make FCP popular in my country but it is very hard since we work with OMF both in Protools and in After Effects. In Avid we exported media embedded OMF and also with audio. I know that there is an option to export OMF with audio but Protools has a hard time opening it. As for Video there is no choice, what can we do?
    Thank you

  • Photoshop interface is too small on high-res screen (Windows 8.1)

    I have downloaded the Photoshop CC trial.  My screen is a 13.3" 3200x1800 screen (0.092mm dot pitch), so the default size of the interface in Photoshop is very difficult to read. I have tried changing the interface size and exiting, then restarting Photoshop, but changing the font to large doesn't seem to make a difference.
    How can I get a useable interface size in Photoshop CC?

    CC 2014 has a Expermental Preference you can use to increace the UI size 200% for High resolution displays

  • High CPU and Delay when applying metadata

    Hi All:
    I have an issue where my CPU hits 60% when applying keywords. This can be when I apply it to one image or to 100s. Obviously, when I have more pictures selected or more keywords, there is a much larger delay.
    Ideas from anyone?
    Thanks

    Hi All,
    There is a workaround to resolve this issue. As it is related to modifying registry, please be very careful and take backup of your registry first.
    The workaround is to set the value of "Disable Performance Counters" to 0 @ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PerfProc\Performance
    If this registry entry is not present, create one. Meanwhile, we are working on fixing this issue.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks,
    Deepika
    PS: Edit the Registry at your own risk. Inappropriate changes to the Windows Registry can disable the operating system! To safeguard against such an accident, back up your existing registry by choosing Registry » Export Registry File after launching the Registry Editor and before making any changes

  • Poor performance of getting of members in FromOracleObject interface

    I am trying to implement a direct passing of MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY objects from oracle cursor to C# using the latest beta ODP.NET 10.2..2.
    I specified
    conn.UdtMappings.Add("MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY", typeof(SDO_classes.SDO_GEOMETRY));
    and my interface method is
    public class SDO_GEOMETRY : ICustomOracleObject
    Object o0, o1, o2, o3, o4;
    public void FromOracleObject(OracleObject oraObject)
    o0 = oraObject[0];
    o1 = oraObject[1];
    o2 = oraObject[2];
    o3 = oraObject[3];
    o4 = oraObject[4];
    All works correctly.
    However when I try to get a member by oraObject[N], it slows down everything from about 2000 rows/sec to 300 rows/sec and gradually drops down.
    Fetch itself is very fast ~50000 rows/sec when I do not try to process in .net SDO_GEOMETRY objects at all (commented //shape = dr.GetValue(2) as SDO_GEOMETRY; in a table fetch loop).
    When I get just OracleObject obj = dr.GetOracleObject(2); it works fast at beginning (5000 r/s), then speed gradually decreases to 300 r/s and goes slower and slower.
    SDO_GEOMETRY objects are not big. Just 10-50 ordinates in each.
    Can somebody advise on performance of reading oracle objects in ODP.NET
    I can publish my code if required.

    I experiencing the same thing. Did you solve the problem in the end? And how?

  • High latency and poor speed tests lately

    For the past 4-5 days, I've been working with various Verizon techs to resolve a high latency/slow Internet problem.  Their ultimate solution was that they have no idea why it's doing this, and since I can reach a few websites at full speed and their line tests show I'm operating at full provisioning, it's not their problem.  "We can't control traffic outside of our networks."  Well, my results are also showing problems with the Verizon servers, so I would think they should be more concerned.  Most websites, however, exhibit the problem.  So I'm stuck, looking for a better answer than "go away."  Maybe some of you are experiencing a similar problem with latency or sporadic speeds?
    My provisioning is 20M/5M.  I'm in the L.A. area. (In the traceroutes below, I masked Hop 2 for privacy.)
    I've experienced this problem with 2 computers (1 desktop, 1 laptop), both using Ethernet ports; one test using wireless on the laptop.  I've plugged the router directly into the ONT coax to eliminate my house wiring as the culprit.  Westell 9100EM router.
    A few websites seem okay, and speedtest.net results always show provisioning at full speed to the L.A. server, but the problem persists when using the non-L.A. server.  With speakeasy.net, even the L.A. server exhibits the problem.  The latency gets worse as the night goes on, sometimes over 1000ms for some traceroute hops.  In the morning, it seems to be back to normal.
    Thanks for any help....

    MisterJefferson, your problem looks to be with hop #3. That is a Verizon router just after the gateway router for you. This will need to be addressed by a Verizon Network technician. Your hops to your router and your hop to the gateway look fine. Verizon will need to reboot that second router or re-route your hops.
    Chernabog, yours is more difficult, you dont have any obvious big issue. However you do have a moderate jump at hop number 8. this is off the verizon network and is out on the internet. on one of the ATT routers. Unlikely you are going to be able to do anything about this. And as it is off the Verizon network, there would be nothing verizon could do about it either. Usually though, if it is a router needing rebooting, it will generally self correct after a few days. Or you could be unlucky enough to be going through a system that is overloaded or just plain old. This can be frustraiting. I myself play a lot of online games and if the server is in Washington DC (I'm in California) one of the hops I have to go through is in kentucky with sprintlink and their routers constantly give me a 500ms ping and I havent been able to get it corrected in over 4 years. Something we sometimes have to live with when it is out of our control.

  • X220 IPS: latency of pixels too high - slow colour switchback

    Sorry guys to present you with a new problem concerning the X220 but I noticed today (only half an hour ago) that if I switch my screen to a black screensaver and wait around 15s and go back to normal screen then the colours will be "unreal" -> means they appear to bright and "undetailed" for some time (15 to 20s) and then go back to normal (it's like slowly increasing colour depth from 256k to 32bit or the latency of the all pixels is to high).
    To literally talk in pictures: I have one of these standard "I-come-with-windows-please-use-me"-background pictures of a koala. In normal state I can the details of its fur. But if the I do the above the Koalas fur is more like a big grey surface.
    Sadly, I couldn't capture the phenomena with a screenshot (I tried several times but no luck) so it seems to me more like a hardware issue (have an IPS panel but so far had no problem with ghosting. but I have the screen bleeding.). Also because it's late and quite dark here in Germany I can't take a good photo of it.
    If a Lenovo employee should read this here are some more hints for debugging: Have a recently bought X220 (Type: 4290-W1B) and it's currently running on battery (haven't checked plugged-in yet because I'm dead tired but hopefully will have time tomorrow) with brightness level 5 (changed it to max of 15 but problem is still occuring).
    Please tell me if you need more informations! And thanks for your help beforehand.
