Jabber 9.2.6 - No Phone Tab

When clicking on the message icon in jabber we get an error message stating the user is not signed in, to resolve goto the phone accounts tab under the options window, we have no such tab showing, anyone help?

Neither CUCM nor CUC are SSO-integrated with Active Directory in the current shipping versions to say nothing of Jabber itself. All LDAP Auth in the server does is relay the user-provided credentials to the LDAP server for a go/no-go decision. The user/client is still responsible for providing them to whatever Cisco server it's trying to authenticate to. The XML Jaime mentions above instructs Jabber to copy/paste the credentials you entered when logging into Jabber itself into the PhoneService (i.e. CCMCIP) and Voicemail (a separate element).

Hey everyone. Just got a V3i and it won't mount in iTunes. It mounts on my desktop, and iSync, but not in iTunes. In iTunes Preferences I don't see the Phone tab. There's iPod, Parental, Music Store, Sharing,Advanced and all that but no Phone Tab. I've tried formatting the card several times, reset the phone, repaired permissions, and changed the cable. Nothing has worked. I just find it strange that iTunes Prefs does not show the Phone Tab to make edits. I have the Phone driver kext and the latest iTunes 6.0.5 also installed. Anyone with this problem solved please help. Thanx.

The setup has changed a bit. With your iPod connected to iTunes, click on the iPod's name. You will see the "Summary" page. You will also notice various tabs. This is where you will find the area to set-up syncing your contacts, etc.

Sounds like your friend didn't disable iMessage on his/her iphone before switching. Have your friend do the following:
Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Log in if not already logged in.
Click on "edit products"
Click on the "x" to the right of his/her old iPhone.
Click "unregister"
This should unregister it with the iMessage server, which will allow you to send texts as normal SMS.
On your iPhone make sure you have Settings>Messages>Send As SMS set to ON.

In iPhone "On This Phone" tab of the Library symbol?

In iPhone "On This Phone" tab of the Library some of the songs, after the song number, show a dotted circle and the entry is grayed-out.
What does the dotted circle mean and what should I do about it.
The album is purchased from iTunes Store.

Those songs are trying to download. Restart the phone and make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi signal.

Jabber 9 UCM 6 and phone control..

Hello, I'm setting up Presence and Jabber for a client with UCM 6.1. Everthing seems to be working fine except the ability to control desktop phones from Jabber. Although all the settings appear to be ok whenever a user tries to change from softphone to hardphone in Jabber it fails. I have a TAC case open and we are at the..let's pull the same logs again stage..which means they are stumped usually. So my question is..Has anyone out there ever got this to work with CallManager 6? I am begining to suspect that this feature just doesn't work with this version of CallManager. Any help would be much appreciated.

Has anyone noticed apps that they didn't purchase in the update section under the "not on this phone" tab?

As I update my apps in 4S and go to the purchased section that is in iCloud but not on the phone, I'm noticing apps that I didn't purchase in the first place. Has anyone else noticed this?

That is weird. I can't figure out why [http://maps.bing.com Bing Maps] won't hold a thumbnail but I do know why iCloud.com can't. It's because Firefox doesn't save thumbnails for sites that have https:// addresses. HTTPS is used by sites for security reasons. And last year there was a issue w/ Firefox saving thumbnails of HTTPS web pages, that when these thumbnails were enlarged or zoomed in, you could see privacy sensitive details like banking info, etc. This was b/c Firefox took random thumbnail screenshots anytime during the https:// site visits instead of just saving a thumbnail of only the very 1st visit to the https:// page and then taking no more thumbnails for that site.
But my idea above maybe not be fool-proof either. B/c if you have already saved your password and username for the https:// site to auto-login, then the very 1st page for the https:// site could contain sensitive personal info and get included in the thumbnail.
So I believe they are working on a solution to fix this problem.
Could you list the other 6 of the 9 sites you mentioned don't save thumbnails so someone else can test them?

Jabber Cannot Control Desk Phone

I know, I know. A well-worn topic. But it's just not happening for me, and I'm new to Presence 9.1 This is a new installation. Also using CUCM 9.1 and Jabber 9.2.6. I don't even know where the Jabber error logs are.
Anyway, when I try to get Jabber to control the desk phone, it doesn't work and when I look at the connection status, I get an error stating that there is a connection error to the CTI server. That server is my CUCM Subscriber. I am LDAP integrated, but we are pointing the a global catalog. The CCMCIP service is running, the profile is created and the user is associated with it. On the CUCM user, the phone is associated to the user, the line is set up as the primary extension, and the user is in the Standard CTI and Standard CCMUSER groups. The user is configured to use IM and Presence, and the profile is selected. On the phone, the user is set as the owner and the line appearance is set to the user.
The two things I've seen that might be issues are that we are using the following LDAP filter:
(&(objectclass=user)(!(objectclass=Computer))(!(UserAccountControl:1.2.840.113556.1.4.803:=2))(|(ipphone=*)(samAccountName=adm-*)))
I didn't create this and I don't know enough about filters yet to know if this is good.
Secondly, in my past experience, the configurations for the CTI service (i.e. "cti_1.1.1.1_cti_tcp_host_synced_000" - not the real IP) have always been created automatically, but they had to be created manally for this install. I don't know if that's a function of 9.1 or if there's an integration issue.

I had the same issue when doing a LAB installation.
My problem was, that I sometimes used DNS names and sometimes IP Addresses.
After I changed everything to IP Adresses, Jabber was able to connect to the CTI Server.
How did you configure your Servers of CUCM (System--> Server) and the Integration of CUPS and CUCM?

My recommendation for your is to test again, after changing everything to IP Adresses.
Otherwise, you can also change the hostfile of the client

Jabber for Window, phone mode, how to disable "use my computer for calls"

We have a Citrix environment and only want to control the Cisco deskphone with Jabber for Windows in the phone mode.
We use CUCM 8.6.2 and I have installed Jabber for Windows 9.7.0 and all works fine, I can control my deskphone, make and receive calls, phonebook and Outlook integration works fine.
Is it possible to disable "use my computer for calls" as we do not want users to make calls via Citrix, but only use the deskphone for this.

Soft-phone mode cannot be disabled. Supported Features on Virtual Environment are the following.
Supported Features
    Instant messaging and presence with other Cisco Jabber clients
    Desk phone control
    Voicemail
    Presence integration with Microsoft Outlook 2007, 2010 and 2013
We have an existing defect which is in Terminated state because feature is not supported hence cannot be fixed.

Jabber 10.5 for Windows + App Dial Rules + Phone Control Mode

I am using all 10.5.
I have Jabber for Windows integrated with Outlook. I have Application Dial Rules set up to handle converting numbers to what I need by stripping, adding 9s, adding 1s, etc. It all works great when I'm using Jabber as a soft phone.
My problem is that almost nobody in the company has a PC camera/mic/speakers. So all of the Jabber clients will be in phone control mode. Because the call originates from the phone and not from an application, the Application Dial Rules get bypassed. I understand why this is happening but I'm hoping there is a way around it. Is there some setting that tells CUCM to notice that there was a CTI call to the phone from an application requesting that it make the call or something like that where CUCM realizes that the request "initially" came from a Jabber client?
OR is there some way for me to put in route patterns similar to the App Dial Rules but specify that those patterns are only available when the number is sent enblock so they don't mess with regular dialing?

Why dont you apply called party transformation rules and modify the called number as per your need.

Jabber phone-only mode in CUCM 8.6

Hi everybody! I heard that jabber can be used in phone only mode without the need of CUPS, but im wondering if it will work with CUCM8.6? I have seen configuration examples for CUCM 9, but there were some things that are missing in 8.6, like Service Profiles in users configuration. If yes then some config guides would be appreciated.

I'm not sure but i think that Jabber supported only presence or webex.
when you install the jabber you see the two options.
Therefore, considering that i think that jabber can't work in mode desk phone of soft phone only with cucm.
read the datasheet of Cisco Cucilync, it similar to Jabber and it can work with cucm only.
actually, Cucilync provides integration between Cisco ip phones and lync of Microsoft, but you can use that without lync.

Jabber Phone Control When Making Calls

CUCM 9.1 with 9.1 CUPS. Jabber contacts have the full phone number which seems to be auto-populated. Where can I go to change the phone number of the contact to their extension instead of the DID?

OK. I will try to be more specific. When I right-click on a contact in Jabber for Windows and go to "View Profile" I see a 10 digit phone number there. I want to change that 10 digit phone number to the user's extension instead of the full phone number.
The reason is when I right-click a contact and click "Call" Jabber makes the phone dial that ful phone number instead of the user's extension. The call fails if the contact is not local to the Jabber user as it does not dial the "1" for a long distance call.
Is this a CUPS setting? Is it pulling this phone number from Cmmmunications Manager or somewhere else?

Tones section not working in itunes library and tones tab is missing in i phone ...

and also ringtones are not getting added to itunes library 11.1.5
i created AAC version file and changed the extension m4r version file and created Tones folder in itunesmedia still cant see in the tones section.
These files are getting added to music section but not tones section.. WHY...

Samsung Kies Software for Galaxy tab or phone

My wife wants the Galaxy S II phone, which is available here at far less the iPhone 4. So I decided to test the software first before authorizing the purchase. The Samsung site states the software is 10.5+ but the installer itself says it won't install on Lion. So I just used Pacifist and that worked. But without the device, I won't be sure it really does work or not, even though it appears too. Does anyone else have this going on a Galaxy tab or phone? Thx!

Btw, I really like the apporach...seems so much simplier then my iTunes setup for my phones/tab. But again, I am not even sure if this works...

I have lion and kies. I did it by downloading an older version of the mac software then updating it and that worked. The software generally is a bit buggy so patience is needed however unlike the iphone you can use the phone as an external hardrive and this takes away the need to have a program to manage the phone as you can just drag and drop into the phone folders. The only thing I have found is that so far you can not update the firmware when you can do that on the windows program.
I moved from 3gs to galaxy2 and so far I am far more impressed. One feature I like is you can sync your contacts/settings and apps with good and should you have to do a factory reset the phone will automatically restore the phone to the previous state with you even having to plug phone in computer. Gets you up and running in seconds.
