Jabber client on android devices.... Xoom maybe?

Im playing around with the Jabber client on my Samsung Epic 4G and it works great.  Connects to my Cisco wireless, CUCM 8.x and makes calls like it should (in the office)
I have a Xoom, and got jabber loaded on it.  Connected it the same way.  The problem is there is no default phone.apk app for the xoom (wifi only).   So when the jabber app goes for a keypad request or phone, its not there.
Anyone seen an android app to default for keypad or dialer app, whatever you want to call it?    Im merely testing and playing around with this, nothing for production, but wanted to see if it would work.
Cheers!

Hey man!  Well, no worries. Im sure everything with Cius first, then other android tablets coming.   At least NetFlix is working now on the Xoom

  • Adding iPad3 with Jabber Client as a device in CUCM 8.6

I posted this in the wrong category.
We have CUCM 8.6 installed in house and I have successfully connected iPhone and Droid phones, however I have been unable to get my iPad3 configured as an endpoint. I have the most recent Jabber for iPad installed on the iPad but when I go to CUCM to add the device iPad is not one of the options. I can add the iPad as an iPhone, but video is not an option.
Is there a device pack which I will need to add to CUCM? I was under the impression that device support for iPad3 was included in the 8.6 release.
    Thanks,
    Brian

When the Jabber for iPad is out of BETA and a shipping product in a few weeks, there will published documentation on how to accomplish this; and likely a COP file to install for the device to show up in CUCM for you.

  • A list of supported Android Phones for Cisco Jabber Client.

    Hi there,
I opened a discussion before about the Cisco Jabber Client for Android phones.
This product from Cisco is only official support bij a several mobile Android telephones. (very poor)
As everyone knows is that the mobile market is continious in development. Since a half year the official support phone list is still the same, but a lot of new Adroid phones are now on the market.
It's even so worse that some of the Cisco supported phones, are not available anymore in the market.
    - Samsung Galaxy S2 becomes a Samsung Galaxy S3
    - Samsung Galaxy TAB is still there
    - Samsung Galaxy S (are not available anymore) The S1 or S Plus are now becoming the Samsung Galaxy S Advanced.
    At what are the alternatives?
Still the list on the documentation is out-dated.
    See:
Samsung Galaxy S International (GT-I9000) with Android operating system (OS) Version 2.2.1 or 2.3
Samsung Galaxy Tab International (GT-P1000) with Android 2.2.1 or 2.3
Samsung Galaxy S II (AT&T) with Android 2.3
To use Cisco Jabber for Android on the Samsung Galaxy S device, it is important that you upgrade your handset OS to Android Version 2.2.1 or 2.3. See the manufacturer/carrier site for more information about how to update the OS on your device. Minor voice quality issues may be experienced depending on the device used.
So hopefully Cisco is still working on the Cisco Jabber solution, and a lot of mobile Android phones will be supported so the road to success will be open.
Hopefully someone can help me to list of tested and supported phones (Official bij Cisco)
    Kind regards,
    Edgar

The official list of tested Android phones is what you've already discovered.  With the next release of Cisco Jabber for Android, I'm sure it will be updated.
While the official list of what we tested is short, the client will work on many Android devices and TAC will provide support if you run into technical issues; provided the issue is with the Cisco Jabber client itself, and not with the OS of the manufacturer.
If there is a specific Android phone you are looking to have officially tested by Cisco, PM me with that information and I'll work with you to see what we can do to get it added.

  • Which Android Device is best/most reliable with Jabber

    Hi all,
I'm trying to set up a small test network as a proof of concept for the Jabber mobile application the network being used is quite simple, closed with no DNS.
I have tried the samsung Galaxy Tab and a Samsung S3 to no avail... I know that the galaxy tab is supported and the S3 is not with the COP.
what device would you recommend that works and has anyone else got any hints and tips/workarounds/known issues with jabber and android devices?
Any help that could be provided would be brilliant
    Thanks.

    Hi Brendan
I've not got a huge amount of experience with different Android Smartphones, but I can say that the client works pretty well with an HTC Desire-S. I've had the application abort a couple of times, but other than that, it's been pretty stable

  • Can jabber client connect to external other telepresence devices?

Hi. I have some questions about jabber environment and jabber client.
    1. When I want to use jabber on Mobile, I know it would be needed Anyconnect VPN feature of ASA.
But, if CUCM and CUP have public IP address:ignoring security issues for test,
Can Mobile(using celular network) device use jabber application without VPN, TURN, STUN or ICE Server?
    2. I heard CUCM interwork with VCS-Control through SIP Trunk, VCS-Control deliver data to VCS-Expressway for Exteran connection.
If then, Can internal Jabber Desktop user call to External teleprsence deivce such as HDX8000 of Polycom?
    3. I know Jabber Mobile clients do not support video presence yet, except for I-PAD.
So, when does Jabber client support video presence feature? I think I have waited enough.
thank you for inconvenience reading, because of none-mother language.

There are three Airport resets, soft, hard and factory default.  It would probably be beneficial if you tried each one in sequence.  Actually, you could jump to the factory default reset if you don't mind reconfiguring from scratch.

  • Cisco Jabber client with other telephony devices

    Hi,
I am completely new to Jabber and just started to understand Cisco jabber client for windows.
I understood that the jabber client supports xmpp for IM and CTI integration with Cisco Call manager for call control.
Is there a provision to integrate the jabber client to non-Cisco devices like Avaya or nortel or an ITS Netrix turret?
Integrate direct or indirect - as in with a plugin
Please do direct to any available documentation that would help
    Thanks

    Hi,
Welcome to Jabber! Yes, the client supports XMPP and CTI.
And yes you can use your existing Avaya / Nortel phones using a Cisco UC feature called Extend and Connect. No plugin required! It allows Jabber to CTI control any phone with a dialable number, including public phones. You can read more about the Extend and Connect feature here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/9_1_1/ccmfeat/CUCM_BK_C3E0EFA0_00_cucm-features-services-guide-91_chapter_0110010.pdf
To configure it for Jabber for Windows you can follow these instructions:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/jabber/Windows/9_1/JABW_BK_E4CC9599_00_environment-configuration-guide_chapter_010.html#JABW_CN_EB63387E_00

  • Change Android Device Name Using RD client - Is it possible?

Hello guys, i am having a problem.
I configured my RDC on windows server just fine, i can acess it through ddns.net without any problems.
However, i have some software installed on my windows server that only works with pre-authorized PC-NAME ... so my question is, where or how can i change my android device name whenever i use the RDC app?
Whenever i try to start that software i get the message "unable to open program ... D5803_4.4.4 not authorized to open it"
(D5803_4.4.4 is my android device name) ... how can i change this?
    thanks!

    Hi,
It seems there is no such way to change the RDP client name.
    Thanks for your understanding!

  • Cisco Jabber Client for Linux

Are there any plans to have a Cisco Jabber client on linux?

    Mike,
The larger body of use case and development for Jabber has centered on Windows and mobile iOS and Android devices. That's not to say that there isn't a contingency of customers that want a Linux client but, as of today, there is no "Jabber" client for that platform. However, I've heard this question asked in a few different forums and the answer thus far has typically been one or both of the following:
    1) There is a Jabber SDK, which could potentially be used to custom develop an application.
    2) Use 3rd-party XMPP client (e.g. Pidgin)
As for an official answer on "will there be in the future" with a yes/no/maybe and/or a possible timeframe, you would need to reach out to Cisco or your trusted partner as roadmap items cannot be discussed without having a non-disclosure agreement in place. That's what Jamie is getting at in his response.

  • Jabber Client Discrepancies

    Hi Everyone,
I just finished rolling out Jabber to over 150 users for a Cisco Gold Partner ( internally we wanted to deploy and have "lessons learned" before rolling to customers ).  We are all pretty much "power users" and we rolled it out to users on Mac, PC, iPad, Android Tablet, and Android/iPhones.  Here is my list of "cough" features that are desparite between the varous clients and I would greatly appreciate anyone from the BU or Cisco to chime in on when these clients will be uniform.  I had to open 2 TAC cases already ( # 625139231 and 624998053 ) which were esclated to the Developers and I have had ZERO response.
I think it's an awesome product, we are already pitching it to customers with heavy emphasis on Video on Tablets/BYOD.  However, as a CCIE Voice Architect I cannot look a business owner in their face and tell them that MS Lync doesn't have a nicer/feature rich interface and ALL of their features work on all devices.
Here is what I have issues with:
    1.  Windows Client 9.1.3 latest rev - Google Calendar integration - once you have authenticated once to google for your calendar you CANNOT remove the calendar and join a differnet calendar.  Come on, this is easy coding to fix!  We are a Google Apps shop, migrated off exchange three years ago.  Right now, if a user wants to use different GMAIL Accounts they cannot.  No one at Cisco TAC can tell me where the settings are cached for this.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled, removed registry entries, deleted the Unified Communications folder under app user, everything to try to fix this.
    2.  Biggest complaint we have right now is MAC doesn't have Video, I know this is coming in the next release, but if there is anything we can do to speed this along it would be greatly appreciated from the field.
    3.  Why is the "screen clipping" tool available on Windows but not MAC?  We have users who LOVE that tool on Windows, no where to be seen on MACs
    4.  Multiple Line support - we have users who had multiple lines configured just fine on CUPC, this should have been included in the Jabber client in my opinion.
    5.  The "Call" button is in two differnet locations on the MAC client vs Windows client, it's very aggrevating to train 100+ people on two differnent locations for the same feature.
    6.  Added Contacts - on the Windows and MAC client, if you add a contact, there is NO way to edit their information.  That needs to be there NOW, we cannot add or edit directory/external phone numbers to contacts we add to the directory.
    7.  No way for Admins to update/delete contacts from users - this is perhaps the most annoying thing.  We as admins can "BAT" 100+ users into the system, but then what?!?!  When a new hire comes on board we have to update all 100 BAT files again.  To make things worse, you can pull up an end users account in CUIP but cannot remove old contacts from their list.  In addition, if you try to BAT over top of an already imported buddy list it creates duplicates.  I would settle for a SQL QUERY I could run via command line "ie run sql update buddy list set..." or something.  This is becoming very frustrating to maintain.
    8.  Jabber does not play very well with Cisco WebEx One Click.  My Windows Jabber client crashes every time and I have to reinstall it.
If someone from the BU or Dev teams could take a look at this list and respond I would GREATLY appreciate it.  I don't mean to blow this out of proportion but like I said, I have lived this product for the last three weeks and I think it's great, just needs some polish!
    Thanks!

  • Unable to Externally Register Phone Services on Cisco Jabber Client via Expressway E

    Hi,
I have currently deployed Cisco Jabber along with Expressway C and E for external regeneration without VPN. I have successfully registered IM and Presence service externally on the internet and I am able to chat with other Jabber users.
I am not able to register phone services for Cisco Jabber client who are registering externally over the internet without VPN.
I have checked that all the users are able to use IM and Presence along with Phone services in the internal network and over the internet using VPN. I have configured the required DNS SRV records on both the internal and external DNS Servers.
I am attaching a screen shot of the Jabber Client that is registered over the internet along with this post for your reference.
Appreciate if you can share your thoughts on the same.
Please do let me know if you need any further informaiton.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Joseph Chirayath.

I am testing with an android device, and I had to add a "digest user" on the BOT device in order for this to work. Phone services are now connected.

  • Directory Caching issue with Cisco Jabber client for Windows

    Hi ,
I am facing cache issue with Cisco Jabber client for Windows. If I do any change related to modification or deletion of contacts in Active Directory/ Callmanager, it does not reflect in the Jabber. Because jabber takes the contacts from the locally stored cache file in the Windows system.
Every time I have to remove the cache file to overcome this issue, practically it's not possible to do the same with all the Widows users. As, if any employee leaves the company and still I can see his contact appears in the "Cisco Jabber client". I have not seen this issue with Android/Apple iOS.
Is there any automated way to remove the cache file?
Here is the detail of CUCM,Presence and Jabber.
    CUCM version: 9.1.x
    Presence          : 9.1.X
    Jabber              : 10.5 and 10.6

    Hello
On our environment we had to install a dedicated Microsoft Certificate Authority "just for Cisco Jabber usage" to house the
    Network Device Enrollment Service.
Our certificate for the CUPS were generated on this Certification Authority too.
I discussed this certificate matter with my colleagues this afternoon and nobody seems to remember how these certificates were deployed into the
Enterprise Trust store for the users.
But I think they asked all 400 users to accept the 3 certificates by answering "yes" to the popup instead of using a script deployed by GPO...
I wish you success with that deployment and really hope you have a technical partner that *Knows* this subject.
Our partner left us alone with that unfortunately.
    Florent
EDIT: If the "Certutil script method" works, please let me know. This could be useful in our own deployment.

  • Third party IM Client until Android client is released

    Hello all.
I was wondering if anyone has successfully gotten a third party xmpp client to work on an android device and connect it to the Cisco Jabber service. I see there is an option in the admin console to allow third-party clients but have been unable to get any to work. I have created all of the DNS settings for it but still no joy.
    Thanks all
PS. Hurry up on a cleint for Android

    Hi Christopher,
We recently released the Jabber for Android IM client.  It is available on Google Play now.

  • Softphone feature for Cisco Jabber Client

    Hello everyone,
I have a CUCM cluster v.8.6.2 and a CUPS v.8.6.4. I've installed my full CUWL licenses as well as my CUP Licenses AND the Jabber for Everyone COP file. I've managed to install Jabber on Mac and on Windows and have all the features such as Chat, Desktop phone integration and Visual Voicemail with Cisco Unity Connection working as well. The only feature I'm having a huge hassle getting to work is the Softphone feature. I've tried adding a CUPC device with the user (btw everything is integrated and uses LDAP for authentication) as the digest account for it as well as the Owner ID. I've tried adding a CSF device as well (I remember reading it somewhere) but the Jabber client never discovers a Softphone device and all of the options on the client are grayed out for me to put in the device settings. I thought I saw it once looking for a device name CSFACILLI (ACILLI being my username) in the System Diagnostics for the Jabber for Mac client but now it just shows:
       Soft Phone Server
    Server Address:           cucm02.mycompany.net
    Server Port:                     2748
    Server Protocol:           --
    Device:                               --
    Line ID:                               --
    Status:                               Disconnected
Any help or thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It looks like it's trying to get CTLFile.tlv from my TFTP servers (which are my subscribers). I went under TFTP File Management under OS Administration on the Subscribers and no such file exists. Is this something I have to download from Cisco? It does look like it's trying for the correct device, just can't get the Configuration File it needs... Your thoughts?

  • Jabber Client softphone is "No Connected"

    Hi,
I am trying to setup a lab for cisco partner testing. I created Collab 10.5 topology with cucm & cups 10.5. I am running out of ideas of what could be wrong. My jabber client for windows works with deskphone but it does not work with it's softphone (CSFXXXXX). Yes, i have CCMCIP profile created, user & device associated but still does not work both within lab network or external network
I am seeing the error below when I do a show connection status for the softphone - see attachment
Connection error. Ensure the server information in the Phone Services tab on the Options window is correct.
I do not have the "Phone Accounts" under options. I even uploaded jabber-config.xml file to tftp server and still no phone accounts tab. I can ping the cti hostname & ip from the pc i am working.

Actually, I read it on a thread in this community. I just went thru’ the deployment guide and I saw that section too.   I have uploaded it to the tftp server and no change for the phone tabs. Only the Directory service becomes online after uploading that file but no change on the phone account tabs.
