Jabber for Windows - Disable "Sign me in when Cisco Jabber starts"?

I am looking for a way to disable  the auto sign-in checkbox for Jabber for Windows.  this is an issue in LDAP authenticated roll-outs when password policies are in effect (change passwords every 90 days).  When auto sign in is enabled for jabber after an LDAP password change, Jabber will lock out the user account the first time it is launched.

Hi,
If I understood you correctly, you are looking for a way to remove ability for users so they can't set autologin?
I think there is no option that will give you that ability at this moment.
You  can file enhancment request if you think that option is neccery.

Srdjan

    Hello,
You might not have the plugin for Firefox installed. Adobe has two different versions of Flash - one for Internet Explorer and another for Firefox. Internet Explorer uses ActiveX. You can check if Firefox has the plugin by going to:
    * Tools > Add-ons > Plugins, or
    * [Image: New Fx Menu] > Add-ons > Plugins
In Firefox, go to this link and Adobe should give you right correct installer:
    * https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If for whatever reason it is not choosing the correct OS for you, you can manually select Windows Vista and "Other Browsers" here:

  • Jabber for Windows 9.2 deskphone control issue

    Hi experts,
I'm having a problem with the newly installed Jabber for Windows 9.2.0. When I click on the bottom right "control phone" and select my Cisco 7941 it fails. I tried restarting the Cisco CTIManager service with no luck.
    Deployment:
    IM&Presence: cloud (Webex service)
    CUCM version: 8.6(2a)
    LDAP integration: full (with authentication)
Deskphone control was working prior the upgrade of Jabber for Windows. Everything else remained the same version.
Using Jabber softphone as a client still works fine.
CUCM ENd User is correctly configured.
Wireshark trace of my Jabber for Windows 9.2 client communicating with CUCM when attempting to control my deskphone shows the following:
    Username: filippo.zangheri
Password: checked three times (it is correct because Jabber softphone works fine).
    Any hint?
    Thanks.
    Filippo

    Davide,
I know i am kind of late to the party on this one but i have fixed my issue and wanted to give you the information to see if this will work for you. If this is even still an issue?
I too had the same issue and just like you i confirmed everything was correct however I discovered something when I was looking into my End User profile on the CUCM. I had originally swapped my 7971 phone with a new 8945 phone and I had both phones associated with my line for a while before I removed the old 7971.
My End User profile still had both phones associated with my number even though the 7971 phone had been removed from my line. This was not allowing the CTI to connect to my 8945 phone or allow my jabber client to "Control Phone" properly because it couldn't figure out which phone to control. I went into the CUCM and physically deleted the 7971 phone from the system which released the associated phone in my End User profile. Once I did that, I "Control Phone" in my Jabber client and voila it worked like a charm!
To make sure I didn't have any Jabber client issues after doing this i signed out of my Jabber client and deleted the local system profile for the Jabber client and then signed back into Jabber and let it recreate the profile. Once that was done i have not had any issues with my Jabber client controlling my phone and all functions work perfectly.
    Hope this helps...

  • Jabber for Windows / iPhone - issue with photo and search

    Dear community,
I have an issue regarding Cisco Jabber for Windows as well as iPhone & iPad.
I recently upgraded our Call Manager infrastructure from 8.6.5 to 10.0. Along with that, I wanted to rollout the new Jabber for Windows (9.7.2) because now we use a very old version (9.2.1).
After I upgraded my test client, I noticed that the user photos (which are retrieved from active directory) were gone.
So for the first time, I decided to modify the the jabber-config.xml (I attatched the two different versions).
I used the jabber config generator to create the new version: https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/106926/jabber-config-file-generator
My attempt is to achive these goals:
    1) I want one config file which is working with Jabber for Windows, iPhone & iPad, Android as well as Jabber for Mac
    2) I want a secure connection from the client to our directory server
    3) I want to retrieve the user photos from the active directory user (attribute thumbnailPhoto)
    4) Jabber should find only users which are a member of the active directory group "example" (example is a nested group which contains several users and at least _one_ other group). Until now, the whole active directory was searched for users/contacts.
So far, 1) and 2) seems to work fine. 3) and 4) are the troublemakers and I really don't no why.
    Can somebody help me?
    Best regards,
    René

Look at this thread. You can find the answer there.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12241391/ldap-contacts-and-photos-jabber-ipad-iphone-and-android-not-working
First I had to uncheck "Use UDS for Contact Resolution" and then I had to create a new jabber-config.xml and upload it to the TFTP server.
But there are a few limitations you have to deal with. But I have mentioned that in the other thread.

  • Jabber for Window, phone mode, how to disable "use my computer for calls"

We have a Citrix environment and only want to control the Cisco deskphone with Jabber for Windows in the phone mode.
We use CUCM 8.6.2 and I have installed Jabber for Windows 9.7.0 and all works fine, I can control my deskphone, make and receive calls, phonebook and Outlook integration works fine.
Is it possible to disable "use my computer for calls" as we do not want users to make calls via Citrix, but only use the deskphone for this.
    Thanks, Perry

    Hi Matthias,
Soft-phone mode cannot be disabled. Supported Features on Virtual Environment are the following.
    Supported Features
Instant messaging and presence with other Cisco Jabber clients
        Desk phone control
        Voicemail
Presence integration with Microsoft Outlook 2007, 2010 and 2013
We have an existing defect which is in Terminated state because feature is not supported hence cannot be fixed.

  • Jabber for windows 9.2.6 client

    hi
i have just upgraded some of my cisco jabber for windows clients to the latest release 9.2.6 (upgraded from 9.2.3)
i noticed that the first time the client startsup i get certificate warnings for our CUCM-PUB, SUB, CUC device and CUPS server. (all version 8.6)
all use the standard cisco SSL certificate (have not deployed 3rd party SSL certificates)
is there a way to get all these certificates trusted by the client machines, it has never prompted me before and works fine with 9.2.3
on the mac clients i have added them to the keychain when i first deployed the clients (manual job) but i like to see if i can automate this for my 30 windows clients (the users will not click on this themselves and will use it as an excuse not to load jabber (they don't like the call window pop ups but that is something for jabber 9.6 client
any idea how to get these certificates trusted by the windows computers (we have an 2008 r2 active directory so could do something with an group policy and or use our own internal windows certificate authority)
    many thankss

when i run show web-security i get this

  • Jabber for Windows - Method of Operation

    All,
With Jabber for Windows Phone When We use for calls, we have enabled phone icon (image Calls_Enable.png) but File-> Options without video option (file File_Options_3.png).
When we use Computer for calls, we have File-> Options Video option enabled (File_Options_2.png file) but calls for disabled icon (file Calls_Disable.png).
See all attached files That I Mentioned.
My question is about the method of operation. If by design Jabber will only allow video When in softphone mode, how do I perform a video call then? Could anyone help me understand how the Jabber for Windows operate? Is there a user guide that helps?
    Thanks,

  • Jabber for Windows Install

We are deploying Jabber for windows for a customer.  Without any jabber-config.xml uploaded the users are able to login without issue and they can search the corporate directory, get images....etc.
The issue is the at the ipphone field is where the users ext is located and we want to change the Work phone to reflect this.  It is my understanding that this is where the jabber-config.xml file comes into play.  I have created a generic file with the changes to Business phone and uploaded it to both TFTP server and restarted the service.  I am able to browse to the url and see the file.  When a user opens Jabber and signs in the log files show that they are downloading the file but I don't see it on the workstation, and there doesn't appear to be any errors that the file isn't available.
    CUCM/IM 10.5,
    Thanks,
    Joe

The customer sent me the file cachedTFTPConfigStore.xml

  • Jabber For Windows - Available Status on Hibernation

We're running Jabber for Windows 9.1.1 ansd see an issue which I think is casued by hiberantion.
A laptop user will be at their pc and and Available, then on leaving their desk, they would typically just close their pc lid, hibernating the pc,  and leave the building.
Their status stays as Available, when of course thay are not. I understand that CUP has not received a specific state change event to update their status, but does any one know if their is a timeout/keepalive that would eventually indicate the user is offline?
I've not had chance test this in detail yet, I've just noticed it a few times when users near me are no longer at their desk, but still show as available.
Has anyone out there come across this? Or do I need to be telling our users they should sign out of Jabber before hibernating their pc's?
    Regards
    Kelvin

    Hi  All,
We have also been suffering from this issue ( I supect) - Running 9.1.2 client but it is also in 9.1.1.  Same CUPS 8.6 version etc.
Closing my PC lid  - PC Asleep
I can been seen as Away from another PC.
Opening my PC lid - I am still seen Away - both on my own jabber and a watcher client. I haven’t logged out and my status does not change even when I am back on the keyboard etc.
I can change it manually and then its appears correct both on my PC and the other PC.
    Or
If I log out of jabber and back in – the correct status is shown both locally and remotely.
This appears confusing to the end user who thinks presence isn't working correctly. we have a number of jabebr users that move between locations for meetings and hence often just close thier PC lid and move locations. FYI - this also happens within the same site.
can you advise if there is a TAC case and if so if we can get an update ?
    thanks
    Russ

  • Jabber for Windows 9.2.2 and SSO

    Hi,
We have a cloud based Jabber for Windows deployment with SSO via ADFS.
Since we have upgraded from 9.2.1 to 9.2.2 we're having trouble with the CTI and voicemail credentials:
The voicemail credentials are just gone when I restart jabber, the CTI credentials are invalid.
I have raised a TAC case and the answer was "yes something has changed, you need to save the credentials in the cloud",
but you need to ask the WebEx support team...:-(((
Did I miss something in any presentation at the beta training?
    Thanks for any help.

You say that 10.5 added this (by 'this', I'm assuming you mean single sign-on) however the documentation I pointed this refers to CUC 9.1. We have 9.2 and we have started with a version 9 of Jabber and updated with each version. If this was only added with 10.5 why was it documented in earlier versions and with the same requirements of adding an OpenAM server?
Other XMPP solutions we have tried (wildfire/Openfire & MS Lync for example) can interact directly with AD and authenticate users without having a go-between server, it's simply Jabber/chat server to AD.
If I install 10.5 over our existing deployment of 9.7.2 (jabber client I'm referring to), what extra benefit do I get directly relating to SSO? With each new version it seems SSO is either improved or added but yet the requirements and setup have not changed, and when you do find the instructions and much digging around it basically points to having to research, install and configure an entirely separate server and then simply point the Cisco server to that. Given the complexity of the Cisco VOIP setup, getting our server infrastructure updated will not be an easy task and taken lightly if the only reason is that SSO would be enabled but will still require a separate server.

  • Cisco Jabber for Windows - Anti-Virus Software

    Hello,
Cisco Jabber for Windows could not resolve outlook contacts, when a client has installed McAffee Anti-Virus Software.
Is there any documentation available, how to setup a Anti-Virus Software, to get Cisco Jabber for Windows running?
Cisco Jabber for Windows Version 9.2.4 Build 4528
    Outlook 2013
    Thanks
    Alex

this is all what we mention about antivirus;  http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/jabber/Windows/9_2/JABW_BK_J6915A59_00_jabber-windows-server-setup/JABW_BK_J6915A59_00_jabber-windows-server-setup_chapter_00.html
Some antivirus or firewall applications, such as Symantec EndPoint Protection, block inbound CDP packets, which disables desk phone video capabilities. You should configure your antivirus or firewall application to allow inbound CDP packets. See the following Symantec technical document for additional details about this issue: Cisco IP Phone version 7970 and Cisco Unified Video Advantage is Blocked by Network Threat Protection.
with that being said; we probably would like to get the jabber process excluded from the antivirus list so that it allows for inbound MAPI communication as that is what is used for quering for the outlook contact.
The only process that ever runs from Jabber for windows is "CiscoJabber.exe" which is located in the following path:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco Systems\Cisco Jabber
    i hope this helps.

  • Jabber for Windows- VM issue

I had configured Jabber for windows in  windows 7, the problem is after logging into jabber client iam not able to get the "phone accounts" under options.
Iam able to call , and recieve calls but no voice mail. In the Jabber cleint diagnostic it shows username and password is wrong for voice mail.
If i have 'phone acounts' option in jabber client i could set username and password for voice mail. Iam able to telnet the unity server.
    Any clue?
    We have IM&Presence 9.0, CUCM 9.0
    Jabber - 9.2
    Tnx
    Bobby

    HI,
As Aron states - you can configure your client to use same login and password ID as other UC services. This will then mask the fields you see in your jabber client. This is great when you don't want your users to have to populate the fields. The less they have to do the better.
Check your Unity Connection system - is it AXL ot AD or neither ?
If you can, your better to use only one username / password across your UC environment. For now just check your setting for the VM service is not set .

  • Jabber for Windows 10.5 and global redundancy

    Hi All,
I implement J4W 10.5 in a full redundant environment, that contains:
    - 3 x CUCM 10.5
    - 2 x Unity Connection 10.5
    - 2 x IM&P 10.5
    - 2 x Expressway-C 8.2.2
    - 2 x Expressway-E 8.2.2
After testing, I notice that the redundancy/failover does not act the same way depending the product, sometime no.
As it is not clearly stated in the documentation, what is clearly supported as automatic failover, and what's not, when using Jabber for Windows 10.5?
In my first test, I saw that Jabber does not support failover with UnityConnection: if the primary peer is down, no more voicemail on Jabber.
If jabber run in Mobile and Remote Access, and the Expressway where it's conencted goes down, it doesn't switch to the other peer.
It will be good to have a document that relate all the redundancy and failover support with Jabber, what can we expect during the failover process.
It will help a lot of people.
    Thanks
    Gabriel

Yep, that's what I did now.
But keep in mind this is not really explained, even if crossing all the documentations.
There is no document explaining what behaviour to expect in Jabber in case of redundancy of all the UC components.
For the CUCM, it's not clear, and nothing is mentionned in case of MRA.
IM&P is documented, but nothing for MRA.
Expressays states about redundancy, but the behaviour to expect is not. Same for XMPP federation, no idea.
UnityConnection as well, nothing is explained.

  • Jabber for Windows Voicemail Playback Issue

    Hi,
I have Jabber for Windows installed and voicemail is working ok but when I playback a voicemail from the Jabber client the MWI light does not go out on the phone. If you do the opposite ie listen to a new voicemail through the phone the new message indicator goes out on jabber.
Also if you listen to the voicemail through Jabber client the voicemail plays through the PC speakers. Is there anyway in getting Jabber to direct the call to the phone so the user can pick the handset to listen like you can when listening to voicemail through the Unity Connection Web Inbox.
    Thanks for you time
    Regards
    Neil

    Hi Neil,
Playing the voicemails in Jabber should turn off the MWI light. You need to open a TAC case and sent on a problem report to debug this further.
For the second question, the only way I think you can do this is by setting Jabber to deskphone mode and then using the "Call Voicemail" button.
