Jabber for Windows On-Premises Deployment.

I´m deploying a solution of CUCM BE 8.6 with CUC 8.6 and CUPS 8.6. At this momento all is working on the CUCM and CUC. But i´m not sure if all is fine on the CUPS.
I have integrated all application whit an LDAP (Microsoft AD). Now I´m configuring Jabber for Windows and the users have IM and status monitoring (presence) working fine. But They need to have voice functionalities to make and recive calls.
I try to make call with jabber and using the pc to make call, but just can make calls;  when some one try to call me, they receive a fast busy tone.
Then i tried to use jabber with an IP Communicator associated to the same user; and just in this scenario other users can call me.
The question is. On-premises deployments, jabber for windows requiere to have associated a desk phone or softphone to make and receive calls?, or i need to do some thing to give to jabber in self the ability de make and receive calls with out any other device associated?
Thanks.

Hi Chris, do you mean that in sofphone mode Jabber do no need the ip communicator to make an receive calls?
Becouse right now i have jabber and a CSF configured and associated to the user. But they can not receive calls, just can make calls.
Only when associate the ip communicator the user can receive calls.
Any idea of what could be happenning?
Thanks
Hello again,
I did some tests and a review of the configuration, but i can´t solve the issue.
the Users with jabber for windows can receive calls but they can not make if they do.
Only if they use an IP communicator associated to jabber client, they can make and receive calls
Must be jabber working by in self to make and receive calls, no matter if have  or not associated a desk phone or softphone?
What do you think i need to verified?
I´m sending a file with screen shots to explain the issue.
thanks in advance

  • Jabber for Windows On Premise Webex Integration

    Hi,
I just upgraded to 9.0.4 and am having an issue integrating Webex into Jabber.  Our Webex meeting center site is SSO enabled.  In jabber, when I attempt to setup my meetings account I get the below message:
I've tried clicking the edit button and specifying various forms of my domain credentials with no luck.  I also see the below blurb in the jabber for windows environment configuration guide:
Does that message mean that Jabber does not support a SSO enabled Webex meeting center site?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    That's correct, sorry.

  • Jabber for Windows 9.1 external contact adding

I have a Jabber for Windows 9.1 deployment, and I can't add external contacts. The external contacts in this case are on a federated OCS deployment with the same LDAP. If I add them in the user options page and restart they work fine. My LDAP searches only return the local jabber domain directory.
Anyway, a quick look around shows me that adding external contacts in Jabber 9.0 was not supported, but it was supposed to be added in 9.1. Is this not the case?

Yeah the problem is that that will add the local jabber IM address rather than the LDAP one since the user exists in both directories.
    e.g. jabber domain = tst.local
    OCS = test.com
if you add the [email protected] as a contact then it will replace it with [email protected]
If you add [email protected] in the user options page and restart jabber it works
edit: anyone know how to unmark a reply as the correct answer, accidentally clicked on that instead of reply

  • Jabber For Windows - Calender Integration Option on deployment

We're about to roll out Jabber for Windows to several hundred clients, and have an issue with the Outlook Integration option setting. Our users are migrating from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Outlook and once migrated to Outlook, will get Jabber for Windows. The problem we have is when installing Jabber for Windows, in many cases it takes IBM Lotus Notes as the default calendar integration, instead of Microsoft Outlook. (Notes is left on users pc as they still need to use Notes to access some backend databases)
We will have to issue intructions to users to go in to File>Otions>Integration and make sure Microsoft Outlook is selected, but past experience tells us they won't actually read them!
Does anyone know any way of setting on option on deployment to ensure Microsoft Outlook is selected ?
    Thanks
    Kelvin

    Hi David,
there is an known issue where default MAPI file can't be opened on some PCs. To confirm this - we would need PRT from computer where issue can be reproduced.
If you still have same problem then create a problem report (Start menu > Cisco Jabber > Cisco Jabber Problem Report) and attach with this thread. If you are not comfortable to attach report here, then raise a TAC case for further assistance.

  • Jabber for windows 9.2.6 client

    hi
i have just upgraded some of my cisco jabber for windows clients to the latest release 9.2.6 (upgraded from 9.2.3)
i noticed that the first time the client startsup i get certificate warnings for our CUCM-PUB, SUB, CUC device and CUPS server. (all version 8.6)
all use the standard cisco SSL certificate (have not deployed 3rd party SSL certificates)
is there a way to get all these certificates trusted by the client machines, it has never prompted me before and works fine with 9.2.3
on the mac clients i have added them to the keychain when i first deployed the clients (manual job) but i like to see if i can automate this for my 30 windows clients (the users will not click on this themselves and will use it as an excuse not to load jabber (they don't like the call window pop ups but that is something for jabber 9.6 client
any idea how to get these certificates trusted by the windows computers (we have an 2008 r2 active directory so could do something with an group policy and or use our own internal windows certificate authority)
    many thankss

when i run show web-security i get this

  • Jabber for Windows - wildcard search against LDAP directory

    Hi all,
I have set up an on premise environment with CUCM, CUPS and a 3rd party LDAP Directory. For CUPC everything is working fine. For Jabber for Windows it took me some time to find the correct jabber-config.xml settings to make it working.
At the moment I am able to search the LDAP Directory, but I have to write the complete Name, i.e. "Miller, John", in the search field. If I try it with "Miller" only, I get no results for my search.
I played arround with the  <UseWildcards>0</UseWildcards>  tag without any changes in the behaviour.
Is there anybody who can help?
    Best regards
    Manfred

    Hi Manfred,
Jabber for Windows has been tested with following directory services:
    Supported Directories
    Microsoft Active Directory  2003
    Microsoft Active Directory  2008
Cisco Unified Communications Manager User Data Service UDS  is supported on Cisco Unified Communications Manager version 8.6.2 or later.
    OpenLDAP
The behavior you are seeing could be related to interop issues. I suggest to open a TAC case for further assistance.
    Thanks,
    Maqsood

  • Jabber for Windows 9.2 Deskphone Control

    Hi,
    I have a deployment with:
    CUCM 9.1(1a) (9.1.1.20000-5)
    IM and Presence 9.1(1a) 9.1.1.20000-5
    Jabber for Windows 9.2.3(4417)
I have got most features working but Deskphone Control is not working. I can see the devices associated with my user from within Jabber when I select "Use my phone for calls" but cannot control them.
The connection status page shows the correct IP address for the CTI server.
I have spent hours reading through various documents and forums which seem to contain contradictory advice.
To clarify theserver  versions that I have deployed support the new UC Services which are referenced from a Service Profile which is assigned to the user.
I am not making any progress resolving this issue. Does anyone have any advice on how to move forward with this?
    Thanks
    James

    Hi Daniel,
we have a Problem with AD-User and DeskPhone ...
The "Active Local User" can control a DeskPhone
The "Active LDAP Synchronized User" can't control a DeskPhone from same PC, but he can controll a Softphone.

  • Jabber for Windows 9.2 deskphone control issue

    Hi experts,
I'm having a problem with the newly installed Jabber for Windows 9.2.0. When I click on the bottom right "control phone" and select my Cisco 7941 it fails. I tried restarting the Cisco CTIManager service with no luck.
    Deployment:
    IM&Presence: cloud (Webex service)
    CUCM version: 8.6(2a)
    LDAP integration: full (with authentication)
Deskphone control was working prior the upgrade of Jabber for Windows. Everything else remained the same version.
Using Jabber softphone as a client still works fine.
CUCM ENd User is correctly configured.
Wireshark trace of my Jabber for Windows 9.2 client communicating with CUCM when attempting to control my deskphone shows the following:
    Username: filippo.zangheri
Password: checked three times (it is correct because Jabber softphone works fine).
    Any hint?
    Thanks.
    Filippo

    Davide,
I know i am kind of late to the party on this one but i have fixed my issue and wanted to give you the information to see if this will work for you. If this is even still an issue?
I too had the same issue and just like you i confirmed everything was correct however I discovered something when I was looking into my End User profile on the CUCM. I had originally swapped my 7971 phone with a new 8945 phone and I had both phones associated with my line for a while before I removed the old 7971.
My End User profile still had both phones associated with my number even though the 7971 phone had been removed from my line. This was not allowing the CTI to connect to my 8945 phone or allow my jabber client to "Control Phone" properly because it couldn't figure out which phone to control. I went into the CUCM and physically deleted the 7971 phone from the system which released the associated phone in my End User profile. Once I did that, I "Control Phone" in my Jabber client and voila it worked like a charm!
To make sure I didn't have any Jabber client issues after doing this i signed out of my Jabber client and deleted the local system profile for the Jabber client and then signed back into Jabber and let it recreate the profile. Once that was done i have not had any issues with my Jabber client controlling my phone and all functions work perfectly.
    Hope this helps...

  • Jabber for Windows - without LDAP integrated with CUCM Jabber UDS - NO PEOPLE CAN SEARCH

    Hi all Jabber Experts,
I have the CUCM, which is the versin 8.6 and the Presence Server, which is the version 8.6, that is not integrated the LDAP, but I want to deploy the Jabber for Windows.
So I would use the UDS to deploy the Jabber for Windows (modified the XML and uploaded to the CUCM TFTP server).
Finally, that can login the users, which is manually added from CUCM.
But I cannot search other users from the Bubby List. Any idea for that?

First of all, either you use CUCM 8.6 with CUPS 8.6, or you use CUCM 9.1 with IM&P 9.1, what you're mentioning is just impossible as they're not compatible and that's not supported.

  • Jabber for windows logged in user count

We recently deployed Jabber for windows 9.1.3 to 4000 users over a 3 week span. I have been trying to monitor how many people are logged in and using the client. I am using both CUPS admin and RTMT to try and figure this out and am now confused as to what I am actually seeing.
When looking in CUPS under application/Jabber/user settings, I have been looking at the number of users who have a client type and version listed as I found in initial testing, those fields update when a client is launched (doesn't need to be logged in). Further testing shows this isn't always correct in that I have found a client type and version for users who do not have the client launched, and nothing for a user who has Jabber launched.
When using RTMT, the Cisco Jabber Summary produces no information, but the CUP Summary does. I see the "Current XMPP Clients Connected" chart increase through the day, but not sure if this is logged in Jabber users, or not.
I looked in the reporting on CUPS and there does not seem to be a report for clients.
Does anyone know of a definitive way to track how many Jabber clients are logged in?
    CUPS 8.6.4.11900-1
    CCM 8.6.2.20000-2
    Jabber for windows 9.1.3
    Thanks
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
One of our clients reported the same issue to us recently, also running CUP version 8.6.4.11900-1.
This was logged with TAC and it seems we are hitting Bug ID "CSCub94611 - Blank Cisco jabber Summary page"
Details of this bug are not currently available to the public.
Issue is fixed in CUP version 9.1.1.10000-8.
The Cisco engineer also provided a CLI command to view how many users are logged in.
Command is: show perf query counter "Cisco XCP CM" "CmConnectedSockets"

    Ismail

  • Jabber for Windows Call popup photo

We have a Jabber for windows deployment currently running in our lab environment. In the buddy list we have the contacts with their photo. When we start a call or receive a call a call popup screen appears. In this screen the photo of the called person i not displayed..
Is this possible? If i look at the pictures cisco provides there is always a photo of the caller.

    Hi,
This is very common scenario in case the number to contact resolution does not work. You need to create directory lookup rules to modify the incoming number so that it matches the number configured for the contact in question.
    Here's an example
You have a contract named John Doe with a DN configured in AD as 101. The contact has an avatar.
You get an incoming call from John Doe but the incoming number is 9101.
This will result in the avatar not being displayed for a contact because number 9101 does not match the contact's configured DN.
So in summary you need to use Directory Lookup Rules and/or Application Dial Rules

    Christos

  • Jabber for Windows 10.5 shows contacts from Address Book multiple times?

What would cause Jabber for Windows 10.5.1 to show a contact multiple times from the address book when searching?  See attached screenshot.

I tried removing firefox and rebooting/reinstalling Jabber with no luck.  I reimaged my machine and loaded 10.5.2 fresh install with no previous versions and still getting the random crash.  Also, I have users who say it has crashed on them during a WebEx and have had installation problems when upgrading from 9.x to 10.5.x.  Version 9 is very solid, sticking with 9.7.5.  I have about 10% of my test users having varying problems with version 10.5.x, waiting till the next release.  Hopefully Cisco will spend a few more weeks testing the next one before publishing it on their site.
    --edit--
Also, when you finally get frustrated and want to downgrade, Jabber 10.5.x doesn't uninstall completely and you end up with an error like the image attached when you try to install v9.7.5 for example and can't install Jabber even after rebooting.  I had to run Microsoft Fix It install/Uninstall option and tell it to uninstall Jabber before Windows allowed me to install an older version of Jabber.  Not too happy with this release.  Strange enough though, some of my users have the exact same laptop I do, same windows build, same patches, etc, and it works fine for them.  Anyway, not deploying this one.  Good luck.

  • Jabber for Windows Install

We are deploying Jabber for windows for a customer.  Without any jabber-config.xml uploaded the users are able to login without issue and they can search the corporate directory, get images....etc.
The issue is the at the ipphone field is where the users ext is located and we want to change the Work phone to reflect this.  It is my understanding that this is where the jabber-config.xml file comes into play.  I have created a generic file with the changes to Business phone and uploaded it to both TFTP server and restarted the service.  I am able to browse to the url and see the file.  When a user opens Jabber and signs in the log files show that they are downloading the file but I don't see it on the workstation, and there doesn't appear to be any errors that the file isn't available.
    CUCM/IM 10.5,
    Thanks,
    Joe

  • Jabber for Windows 10.5.1 not working without elevated permissions

Customer starts Jabber for Windows 10.5.1 and gets a pop-up about CiscoJabber.exe, wbxcOIEx.exe, and wbxcOIEx64 and to contact WebEx support.  It appears these components are talking to Outlook.  Show connection status under Outlook we see a mapi connection error with a code 0x80080005 that goes back to permissions error.
Users are not local administrators running Windows 7.  Jabber was packaged using LanDesk and deployed to PC and installed with admin rights.
Workaround was to grant elevated permissions to Jabber folder that had CiscoJabber.exe, wbxcOIEx.exe, and wbxcOIEx64.
    see attached screenshot.
TAC Case 632162203 sent issue to BU for escalation, meanwhile customer elevated that folder permissions
