Jabber for Windows - without LDAP integrated with CUCM Jabber UDS - NO PEOPLE CAN SEARCH

Hi all Jabber Experts,
I have the CUCM, which is the versin 8.6 and the Presence Server, which is the version 8.6, that is not integrated the LDAP, but I want to deploy the Jabber for Windows.
So I would use the UDS to deploy the Jabber for Windows (modified the XML and uploaded to the CUCM TFTP server).
Finally, that can login the users, which is manually added from CUCM.
But I cannot search other users from the Bubby List. Any idea for that?

First of all, either you use CUCM 8.6 with CUPS 8.6, or you use CUCM 9.1 with IM&P 9.1, what you're mentioning is just impossible as they're not compatible and that's not supported.

  • Jabber for iPhone 9.6 Integration with OpenLDAP

Hi everyone! i just found an issue when try to integrated jabber for iphone version 9.6 with OpenLDAP that seem like not working and want to describe my environment as below.
    Using BE6K 9.1 includes,
         - CUCM 9.1.2
         - IM&Presense 9.1
         - Jabber for Window 9.6 integrate with OpenLDAP using EDI on jabber-config.xml is working properly.
         - Jabber for iPhone 9.6 integrate with OpenLDAP using BDI on jabber-config.xml not working(cannot lookup)
         - Jabber Voice for iPhone and Android can integrate with OpenLDAP which configure in phone configuration
         - Both of Jabber can't access the photo in OpenLDAP with "jpegPhoto" attribute.
By the way im also included jabber-config.xml files for further troubleshooting. Another question, is it possible to include EDI and BDI for working together in one jabber-config.xml file
One another file is jabber for iphone log when im trying to search "anu" word in searching box

    Hi noom_ekkalak ,
    Thanks for your answer!
I have specific LDAP parameter in TCT phone configuration as you say, then try to connect the "Directory" setting in Jabber Voice, but it didn't work . i just get the error “Unable to verify account” all the time.   :(
Besides this ,is there anything i need to specific? How did you specific Jabber Voice "Directory" parameter?
    Thank you!

  • Jabber for Windows and Ldap Contacts without CUPC license

    Dear Sr:
It is possible to add a user on ldap as a jabber contact WITHOUT assigning a CUPC license to the user?
The idea is that some users on the ldap don't have jabber but we should be able to add them as a contact AND we dont want to use jabber licenses for those users or have Presence server to load balance those users.
We can add Microsoft contact as jabber contact with no issues...
    Thanks

LDAP Authentication of End Users in CUCM is strongly recommended for CUPC/Jabber. When you login to CUPC/Jabber it authenticates against CUCM. If LDAP doesn't have the same password (i.e. CUCM isn't synced from LDAP) the client won't be able to do LDAP queries if using BDI. This is because it re-uses the same credentials when it attempts to bind to LDAP. If Jabber is configured for EDI, which is only even possible on Jabber for Windows running on domain-joined workstations, then this is not as critical since it would use the Windows ADSI API in the context of the logged-in user. Using EDI exclusively would rule out Jabber for Mac, iOS, Android, and Windows on a non-domain joined workstation though.
As for usernames: You can continue to use employeeNumber if you wish. You'll need to ensure that the jabber-config.xml file maps the username to this value for everything to work. Note that this will be their XMPP URI: [email protected] so be sure that you're comfortable with employee numbers being public.

  • Jabber for Windows - Outlook Meeting integration issue/questions

    Hi,
A couple of questions if anyone else has experienced or can answer:
    1. When you turn on Jabber it appears in the trace file to create a transitionlist of meetings in your calendar for the next four hours. Eg if meeting 8-9 it will show 8:00 BUSY
            9:00 FREE
and this works ok. This transitionlist also seems to update each time a status change occurs from what I have observed.
The problem we seem to have is if I open Jabber at 7.45am and have a meeting 8 - 9 then it shows "In a meeting", then if I create a meeting at 9.15am for 10am-10.30am, the meeting status does not change as it seems to operate of the four hour transitionlist. I have the setting in the CUPS server for exchange sync to happen every twenty minutes, but this does not seem to update.
I'm be focussing on the wrong area but basically not all calendar appt's update status in Jabber, especially the one's created within the four hour pperiod.
    2. To have the presence status of a person in an Outlook email address field, do you need 2010 or does it work with prior versions, we currently operate 2003. I have configured the SIP component in AD, but no status or click to call facility from Outlook.
    Thanks in advance
    Mal

    Hi Mal,
Thanks for your post. Issue (1) sounds like a configuration issue in your setup. Please open a TAC case for further assistance.
Regarding (2), Jabber for windows does noot support Office 2003. List of supported MS Office applications is listed in Jabber for Windows administration guide.

  • LDAP Integration with CUCM 9.0

We would like to use LDAP to sync all of our users from Active Directory.  All of our current CM Users are local, the problem is that they have the same user names as our Active Directory users.  From what I understand this is going to be a problem because:
"If accounts from LDAP match an existing Unified CM account that is not marked as an LDAP synchronized account, then these accounts are ignored."
Does that mean we will have to delete all our existing CM users in order to sync the LDAP users correctly?  Is there a best practice for this?  Once we syncronize the LDAP users how to I ensure that the user gets associated with the proper phone?  Or do I have to visit each user individually?

I just did a quick test for this, my lab CUCM 9 is already LDAP integrated, but I created a local user, then I created that same local user in my LDAP OU, and performed a full sync.
The user is no longer showing as a local active user, but as an active LDAP synchronized user.
Which was my thought, there's only one conversion, from LDAP to local.
The behavior is just as with any previous release, local users who match an LDAP user after you enable it, are just updated, and kept with all their configurations.
I checked the option to turn it back again into a local user, did a full sync, and it's again an active LDAP user.

  • Jabber for Windows - wildcard search against LDAP directory

    Hi all,
I have set up an on premise environment with CUCM, CUPS and a 3rd party LDAP Directory. For CUPC everything is working fine. For Jabber for Windows it took me some time to find the correct jabber-config.xml settings to make it working.
At the moment I am able to search the LDAP Directory, but I have to write the complete Name, i.e. "Miller, John", in the search field. If I try it with "Miller" only, I get no results for my search.
I played arround with the  <UseWildcards>0</UseWildcards>  tag without any changes in the behaviour.
Is there anybody who can help?
    Best regards
    Manfred

    Hi Manfred,
Jabber for Windows has been tested with following directory services:
    Supported Directories
    Microsoft Active Directory  2003
    Microsoft Active Directory  2008
Cisco Unified Communications Manager User Data Service UDS  is supported on Cisco Unified Communications Manager version 8.6.2 or later.
    OpenLDAP
The behavior you are seeing could be related to interop issues. I suggest to open a TAC case for further assistance.
    Thanks,
    Maqsood

    Hi,
Jabber is attempting to repair itself from a conflict with the WebEx productivity tools.  However, it is looking for the original install file (.msi), cannot find it and therefore the repair fails.  To work around this problem you need to:
1 - Download the same version of CiscoJabberSetup.msi that is installed.  You can check the version by finding CiscoJabber.exe in your Program Files directory, right click, Properties and on the Details tab there is a product version.
2 - Copy this file to the location fro which you previously installed Jabber.  For example, if you downloaded the .msi to your desktop previously, do the same here again.  If you got this update as part of an auto update, then copy the file to "%temp%".
3 - Launch Jabber - it should successfully repair itself and launch.
    Thanks,
    Rob.

  • Cisco Jabber for Windows always shows "Away"

Cisco Jabber for Windows (9.0.1, CUPS 8.6.4, UCM 8.6.2, Exchange 2010) always shows status as "Away" for one user. Others seem to be working correctly showing "one the phone", "in a meeting", etc. Tried reinstalling client with no change. If you manually change to "Available", it changes right back to "Away". Anyone have an idea where to look (registry, logs, etc.)?

I am seeing the same problem.  I haven't tried a different user to login on the same machine, but I did try closing my client on my primary machine (exited) and then logged in on a different computer with a fresh Jabber for Windows install.
I am running Jabber for Windows Version 9.0.2 Build 9453 on windows 7 64bit primarily, and Windows XP as the second test.  Running CUPS 8.6.4 in HA over WAN cluster mode with CUCM 7.1.5 and Unity Connection 8.5.1 ES 16.
Phone presence information does still flow through when I pick up my phone hand set my status changes from Away to On a Call.
When I check the presence diagnostic test for my user, it also reports that I am away.

  • Jabber for Windows Login failed with - "Must change at Next Login" for CUCM Authentication

Jabber for Windows users cannot login when "User Must Change at Next Login" is selected in the CUCM credential Policy
    I found this Bug-ID: CSCuh84476
    https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuh84476
We use Jabber for Windows 9.7.4!
I just want to know if there are other users have the same problem and which workaround they applied.
I’m currently testing a User with different Policy credentials (Credentials expire after 1 day).
I think this will also lead to a “username or password wrong”-popup but tomorrow I will see it myself ;)
The planed workaround for us will be to set the “User Must Change at Next Login ” option and the users first have to login at UCM-Userpage to change their initial password.
BTW: Maybe somebody from Cisco know when this get fixed?
    Best regards
    Franz

J4W does rely very heavily on DNS, you should at least all required entries to hosts and lmhosts.
How are your servers defined under system -> server??
Are you able to log into UCMuser page??
Have you properly configured all user/device/line association, and created the necessary service profiles???

  • Jabber for Windows login to the IM&P but not to the CUCM

    Hi,
I have Jabber for Windows, IM and Presence Server 10.5 and CUCM 10.5. The problem is it says it cannot communicate with the server upon logging in. But if I typed a wrong username / password it says "Your username and password is not correct."
When I try to login to the IM&P it seems okay (even though without phone services). When I try to login to the CUCM it shows some problem.
I've create CSFMGUIDO device with password 12345. When I logon to the CUCM with the following credentials: mguido - 12345 it says "Unable to communicate with the server". When I logon to the CUCM with the following credentials: mguido - 00000 it says "Username and password is not correct".
I'm not using neither LDAP nor DNS. With Android Jabber all it's working correctly.
    Has anyone experienced this?
    Hope someone can help.
    Thank you.

  • Jabber for Windows LDAP Profiles

I have been unable to find a lot of information on LDAP profiles, but I came across a blog that said that LDAP profiles are only used for Android, iphone and ipad. It stated that the only way to control the search base on Jabber for Windows is by using the jabber-config.xml file. So far this appears to be true based on my limited testing.
I have been able to integrate with OpenLDAP using the jabber-config.xml file to set the server and search base. The only problem i can see with this particular design is I would have to give all users the same LDAP profile and search settings. In our environment this will not satisify our requirements.
Does anyone know of a way where i can integrate with OpenLDAP, use the Jabber for windows client and control the LDAP search setttings on a per user basis?
    Thanks

Yes but you won't like it.
Group Configuration File NamesYou specify the name of the group configuration files in the Cisco Support Field on the CSF device configuration in Cisco Unified Communications Manager. If you remove the name of the group configuration file in the CSF device configuration on Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Jabber for Windows detects the change, prompts the users to sign out, and loads the global configuration file. You can remove the name of the group configuration file in the CSF device configuration by deleting the entire configurationFile=group_configuration_file_name.xml string or by deleting the group configuration filename from the string. If users have desk phone devices only, use the following command line argument to specify unique names configuration files for different groups:    TFTP_FILE_NAMESee the Install Cisco Jabber for Windows chapter for more information about the command line arguments.

  • Jabber For Windows - Calender Integration Option on deployment

We're about to roll out Jabber for Windows to several hundred clients, and have an issue with the Outlook Integration option setting. Our users are migrating from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Outlook and once migrated to Outlook, will get Jabber for Windows. The problem we have is when installing Jabber for Windows, in many cases it takes IBM Lotus Notes as the default calendar integration, instead of Microsoft Outlook. (Notes is left on users pc as they still need to use Notes to access some backend databases)
We will have to issue intructions to users to go in to File>Otions>Integration and make sure Microsoft Outlook is selected, but past experience tells us they won't actually read them!
Does anyone know any way of setting on option on deployment to ensure Microsoft Outlook is selected ?
    Thanks
    Kelvin

    Hi David,
there is an known issue where default MAPI file can't be opened on some PCs. To confirm this - we would need PRT from computer where issue can be reproduced.
If you still have same problem then create a problem report (Start menu > Cisco Jabber > Cisco Jabber Problem Report) and attach with this thread. If you are not comfortable to attach report here, then raise a TAC case for further assistance.

  • Jabber for Windows / iPhone - issue with photo and search

    Dear community,
I have an issue regarding Cisco Jabber for Windows as well as iPhone & iPad.
I recently upgraded our Call Manager infrastructure from 8.6.5 to 10.0. Along with that, I wanted to rollout the new Jabber for Windows (9.7.2) because now we use a very old version (9.2.1).
After I upgraded my test client, I noticed that the user photos (which are retrieved from active directory) were gone.
So for the first time, I decided to modify the the jabber-config.xml (I attatched the two different versions).
I used the jabber config generator to create the new version: https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/106926/jabber-config-file-generator
My attempt is to achive these goals:
    1) I want one config file which is working with Jabber for Windows, iPhone & iPad, Android as well as Jabber for Mac
    2) I want a secure connection from the client to our directory server
    3) I want to retrieve the user photos from the active directory user (attribute thumbnailPhoto)
    4) Jabber should find only users which are a member of the active directory group "example" (example is a nested group which contains several users and at least _one_ other group). Until now, the whole active directory was searched for users/contacts.
So far, 1) and 2) seems to work fine. 3) and 4) are the troublemakers and I really don't no why.
    Can somebody help me?
    Best regards,
    René

Look at this thread. You can find the answer there.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12241391/ldap-contacts-and-photos-jabber-ipad-iphone-and-android-not-working
First I had to uncheck "Use UDS for Contact Resolution" and then I had to create a new jabber-config.xml and upload it to the TFTP server.
But there are a few limitations you have to deal with. But I have mentioned that in the other thread.

  • Jabber for Windows SSO with CWMS

We've configured our WebEx Meetings Server 2.0 for SSO with ADFS 3.0 and it works in various browsers.  The docs for Jabber for Windows say that it can do SSO to WebEx Meetings Server but there are no details in the configuration guide and I haven't been able to get it to work. After I turn on SSO, Jabber won't authenticate with the Meetings Server.  All the guide says is
If you configure SSO with Cisco WebEx Meetings Server, Cisco Jabber can seamlessly integrate with the SSO environment. In this case, you do not need to specify credentials in order for users to authenticate with Cisco WebEx Meetings Server.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Eric,
No specific configuration is done on CWMS for Jabber for Windows integration. All this is done on Jabber side. I would advise you to reach out to Jabber Clients community or open a TAC ticket with Jabber for Windows team.
